NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200/5600
5. NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200/5600
NVIDIA's new GeForce FX Go models were also not originally designed for the notebook segment, but are actually based on the desktop chips that have been launched in recent days. Both are capable of carrying out DirectX 9 code in the hardware. NVIDIA's new mobile flagship, GeForce FX Go 5600, like ATI's Mobility Radeon, is also produced using the energy-saving 0.13 micron process, whereas the FX Go5200 uses the 0.15 micron process. Thus, the NVIDIA FX Go5600 can also be operated using only 1.0 V. If the chip is put under a heavy load by a 3D application, the PowerMizer 3.0 technology used here increases the voltage as required. NVIDIA thus attempts to optimize the use of the power reserves, which are limited by the battery. The clock speed can also be customized according to requirements.

We're talked about the details of the new desktop chips in two of our previous articles:

The following gives you an overview of the features of the new NVIDIA mobile chips.
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 features:

Power management for the chip, which can be manually controlled by the user, or which can be defined according to the performance requirements of the application running.
Dynamic Voltage Scaling: automatic voltage adjustment as needed Dynamic Clock Scaling: automatic, dynamic clocking of the chip (on-the-fly)- Previous page The First Simulation Benchmarks
