13. SYSmark 2004 SE Performance Benchmarks Conclusions

On average, the Dell Latitude X1 performed on a par with its same CPU mate Averatec's AV1050. Generally the other four comparable laptops with their 1.2 GHz CPUs did a little better than the X1 and the 1000. The two 1.1 GHz Pentium M 733 computers racked up SYSmark 2004 SE Overall Benchmark scores of 104 (Dell) and 95 (Averatec). The X1's score is only 4 lower than Fujitsu Lifebook P6110D's top score of 108.

The SYSmark 2004 SE Office Productivity Communications benchmark is a toughie for most mobile computers. The X1 performed particularly well on this test compared to the other five laptops with a score of 90. The next highest score was the Toshiba Portege R200's at 85. We ran the Office Productivity benchmarks three times on the X1. The Communications benchmark score was 90 in all three tests.

We have no immediate explanation for the X1's high score. However, it is important to note that the Latitude X1's high Communications score is the reason for its middle ranking on the Office Productivity Overall Score (102), in spite of the laptop's having placed lower on the Document Creation and Data Analysis benchmarks.

The X1 takes the second to last or last position on the SYSmark 2004 SE Internet Content Creation benchmarks. It shares the bottom rankings on all tests in this scenario with the Averatec.
