Except for the different components, the two machines are set up in exactly the same way. While the processors in both systems are kept at tolerable temperatures by means of sophisticated cooling systems, the Southbridges (Ali M1535+ or ICH 4M) and the Northbridges with their integrated graphics cores (Radeon IGP320M or i855GM) manage without additional cooling.

The processor itself is located underneath a copper cooler with another heat pipe that draws the heat outwards to the cooling fins in front of the ventilator.
Also interesting is a comparison of size between a boxed cooler for a desktop CPU and its counterpart for a LV Athlon XP-M.
