13. Sisoft Sandra 2002 Benchmarks: CPU, Multimedia And Memory, Continued

When using the "Portable/ Laptop" power scheme, the CPUs run fully loaded at the maximum rate thanks to "PowerNow!" and "Enhanced SpeedStep."

The "Max Battery" power scheme, on the other hand, forces the mobile processors to run on battery at the minimum CPU rate, even when at full stretch. In this case, the somewhat better results of the Pentium-M can be attributed to the clock rate of 600 MHz, which is only slightly higher than that of the low-voltage Athlon XP-M (533 MHz).

The performance weakness of the memory interface in the IGP320M from ATi is already known, but unfortunately has not been eliminated. We can only hope, for AMD's sake, that ATi will get to work on this. The values of the Lifebook S6120 may be considerably higher with about 1700 MB/s, but we would rather have a value for the almost theoretical maximum for the memory bandwidth of 2100 MB/s (DDR2100-RAM). We can only suppose that the relatively poor results have to do with the pre-sample status of the test device.

If the "Max Battery" or the "Presentation" power scheme is used, the CPU clock rate goes down and, consequently, so does the memory bandwidth.

The already skimpy memory bandwidth of the Lifebook S2010 even drops below 1000 MB/s.
