5. Using The Fujitsu Lifebook N6410: The Display
Whether you plan to play games or use a computer for multimedia functions, you want a very good display. The N6410's display meets those requirements. It has a mean maximum brightness of 241 (based on 64 measures across the screen), meaning it's as bright as very good computers in its class. The Toshiba Qosmio G25-AV513 we tested last year had a super mean maximum brightness of 335. The N6410's display has excellent contrast. Its mean contrast ratio is a phenomenal 532 based on 32 white and 32 black measures across the screen. The N6410's display bested the Qosmio's contrast ratio of 450. The results for the Fujitsu's display were near unbelievable. So, I did the measurements three times. The results were quite similar in every test.
The following plots use the measures discussed immediately above to show the uniformity of the distribution of brightness and contrast across the computer's display.

Brightness ranges between 206 and 266. Compared to other mobile computers I've tested, that's a fairly narrow range. This indicates that the N6410's brightness is pretty even across the screen as you can see in the first plot. The center of the display is brightest with brightness falling off evenly toward the edges of the screen.
The N6410 display's contrast ranges from 433 to 614. That's not too bad, but it's important to remember that contrast is scaled in units of 50, which tends to flatten the plot, especially when compared to brightness which is scaled in units of 20. Notice that contrast peaks in the center and at the bottom of the display.
