8. Conclusion: Obstacle Detection Much Improved Since 2004

Compared to last year's Grand Challenge, this year's batch of vehicles is much improved. The Stanford, Cornell and Carnegie Mellon vehicles looked almost humanlike in doing smooth turns. Many of the slower vehicles must stop and travel very slow to make decisions. Even though the NQE is still running, DARPA has told nine teams that they will be going to the Grand Challenge race. The remaining 34 teams will fight for the 11 remaining spots. The teams that were guaranteed to start the race are

It's unknown whether the race will have any legalized betting, after all it is being held in Nevada, but my money is on Stanford.
