Upcoming operating system has been delayed on several occasions.
RIM has finally announced a solid launch date for the oft-delayed BlackBerry 10 operating system.
On January 30 2013, the global launch event will occur simultaneously in various countries around the globe. Research in Motion will also announce two BlackBerry 10 smartphones during the event.
The new operating system was originally meant to launch this summer, but it was pushed back to the end of 2012, followed by a further delay into 2013's quarter one.
"We are looking forward to getting BlackBerry 10 in the hands of our customers around the world," said CEO Thorsten Heins. However, despite his optimism, one analyst branded BlackBerry 10 "dead on arrival".
Over 50 carriers have been confirmed to be testing BlackBerry 10, while the U.S. government recently certified the mobile platform for secure use.

I can't wait to buy one in a couple months during their fire sale to go along with my HP Touchpad.
Try 80 million.
my BB is primarily for text, bbm, emails.. as i do not have interest in the app world, the BB suits me just fine and some.
You come across as a shill for RIM.
In the days when RIM had a BES that nobody could match for pushing business email, that was their edge. Now, everyone has it. They need a new "killer app" to remain relevant.
I love how people say Android security sucks. Have you ever been hit by Android malware or just repeating what you read? Do you install random apps from unknown sources? Also great that someone can say something that hasn't even been released yet is better than something that is out. BB10 could have a huge hole that isn't discovered yet.
And I hope they get much better camera this time.
Obvious troll is obvious. Just because you own an iphone and always get ripped a new one on the apple/android threads doesn't mean you should come spew your nonsense here on a RIM one as well.
