Quad-core tablets are already here, thanks to Asus and Nvidia's cooperation in getting the Transformer Prime to market before closing out 2011. Of course, that Tegra 3 with its four-plus-one core configuration would also be appreciated in phones, which is something that Nvidia is hinting at in its Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona later this month.
The speculation comes from the invite Nvidia sent out, which clearly shows some guy who is so into his phone that he can't even put it away while riding a rollercoaster. Or maybe he's just trying to take a video. Either way, the graphic is accompanied by promises of "quad-core firsts," so we have some high hopes for new phones in a few weeks.
