9. Skydrive Share Folder

One of the big advantages of having a Web app instead of a desktop app is that you can use it from any machine. The other advantage is that you can share your documents easily and collaborate with colleagues and friends directly in the document, rather than mailing the file back and forth. The Office Web apps use the file-sharing features already in SkyDrive and that means that you can share a folder, but not an individual file (at least in this version). If there’s a sub-folder in the folder you share, the files in that folder will get shared as well. The good news is that the sharing options are very flexible. For example, you can make a document open to the world or to everyone on your Live network or you can choose individual people (by email address).

What if you don't have a New menu in your skydrive?

James, if you don't see the new New menu, you don't have access to the Office Web apps technical preview - it is a very limited, invitation only preview, but you might find it appears if you upload files to the Documents folder.

Bah, I have not used Office products for several years now and have not missed them one bit. This is not going to get me to try anytime soon.
