12. PowerPoint: Add an Image
The PowerPoint ribbon also looks rather sparse, but when you start creating new slides and adding content, you’ll find some sophisticated features. You can add a new slide or copy an existing one (although you don’t need to copy a slide just to get the background since that’s applied automatically). If you’re about to give a presentation and you need to shorten it, you can hide slides rather than deleting them permanently. You can’t change the design or add a chart (or even edit an existing chart), but if the new slide template you choose has a content placeholder, you can add an image (uploaded from your PC but not pasted from another Web page) or create a SmartArt diagram.

What if you don't have a New menu in your skydrive?
James, if you don't see the new New menu, you don't have access to the Office Web apps technical preview - it is a very limited, invitation only preview, but you might find it appears if you upload files to the Documents folder.
Bah, I have not used Office products for several years now and have not missed them one bit. This is not going to get me to try anytime soon.
