Apple had a rough start with the launch of iOS 8. The operating system had to be pulled after the first minor update due to a cellular network interference problem, and to date it still contains many bugs. Apple's hoping those will all be things of the past with the release of iOS 8.1 today, which has bug fixes, support for Apple Pay and Continuity with OS X Yosemite and brings back the beloved Camera Roll photo view. 1. Make sure your Apple device is compatible. iOS 8.1 supports iPhone 4s or newer, iPad 2 and newer, iPad Mini and newer and the 5th-generation iPod Touch.
2. Select Settings from the home screen.
3. Select General.
4. Select Software Update.
5. Select Download and Install. If you don't see that option, you may not have enough free space on your device to download iOS 8.1 - the update will require 69.9MB of free space on an iPhone 5.
