Cyberdyne’s HAL Exoskeleton Featured at CES

Relax, the machines haven’t started their revolt just yet. The HAL is more like an Iron Man suit than a homicidal Austrian action hero turned American politician. It detects bio-electricity from active muscles, and moves with the wearer to provide bionic super-strength.

We are a bit wary of its touted “Robotic Autonomous Control System”, which lets HAL take over if can’t get a good signal from the pilot’s muscles or nervous system. Partner that with a overmind AI—given Cyberdyne’s naming conventions, it will probably be named Skynet—and potential super-soldiers might find themselves under the control of an artificial mind.
