The Missing Link
Creative Labs' DDTS-100 decoder offers you the latest in home theater technology for a reasonable price of ($150) 169 euros. If you already have amplified speakers that are 5.1 or more, it will transform your living-room into a movie theater for a very affordable price. If by chance, your PC isn't far away, you can even use the speakers for both. If you are looking for a high-quality home theater system but you aren't ready to spend a fortune, the combination of the DDTS-100 and high-quality computer speakers is a cunning way of getting the best value for money, better than for an entry-level, dedicated home theater system.
The combination using Creative's Gigaworks S750 7.1 speakers that cost only $600 (670 euros) represents the best in the market and you would have to spend a great deal more to get that sort of quality using Hi-Fi technology. If you want to stay with 5.1, combining it with Logitech Z -5300 speakers at $400 (470 euros) will be just as satisfactory. Even the kit sold by Creative, combining the decoder with 7.1 T 7700 speakers is a good option if the room is not too big. The TD 7700 system costs little more than $250 (300 euros). The decoding quality of the DDTS-100 is impressive if you position the speakers carefully. Furthermore, with the DTS Neo:6, you will never listen to the TV in the same way again.
