Door knobs usually have just one purpose: to open a door. Architect Hideyuki Nakayama decided to give it just a bit more functionality, and with the help of door handle manufacturer UNION, has come up with something that provides both pleasing aesthetics and practical benefits.
It's called A Room in the Glass Globe, and is inspired by Nakayama's love for snow globes. The knob is composed of glass, and is designed to act just like those security peepholes, letting you see the room beyond. Pretty clever, plus you no longer have to stick your mug against the door; that's one horror movie trope we can do without.
