Skateboarding is a timeless activity that people of all ages, walks of life, and backgrounds can enjoy—albeit not always the safest one. Innovations in the hobby (for sport or for fun) are never far between, and this instance is no different. Motorized skateboards have been around for quite some time, but nothing like this.
The ZBoard skateboard is a handsfree motorized skateboard that uses a “lean-and-go” interface to sense weight on the board and deliver power to it. The board is capable of achieving approximately 17 miles per hour with the Pro (or 15 miles per hour for the ZBoard Basic), controllable by applying different amounts of pressure on the front and rear foot pads.
The Basic is capable of approximately 5 miles of travel on its battery, while the Pro is capable of as far as 10 miles according to Huntington Beach based developer and producer Intuitive Motion, Inc. They are available for between $599 and $849, depending on the model—a hefty price tag for nearly effortless travel by board. You can pre-order your own from the company at the product's webpage here, knocking off $100 from the price.
