The new boss becomes the eighth to take charge of Utd in the nine years since Alex Ferguson retired, and he'll certainly be hoping for more success than his immediate predecessors Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

He's not inherited the best squad, though, and has had to adjust to the loss of a host of players including Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Dean Henderson. On the flip side, he's brought in the Argentine center-half Lisandro Martinez from his old club Ajax, plus Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and the Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen, who was at Brentford last season.

There's still speculation as to Cristiano Ronaldo's future at the club, too, and it's possible he'll play on Sunday, given that Anthony Martial is likely to be out with injury.

Brighton, meanwhile, only finished six points behind Utd last season, their best EPL result yet. Despite that, they lost two key players in the transfer window: Yves Bissouma to Spurs and Marc Cucurella to Chelsea. The £80m-plus they've received for those two should enable boss Graham Potter to bring in plenty of new faces, but they're likely to line up against Utd in fairly familiar fashion.

Will the Erik ten Hag era start with a bang or will Brighton once again punch above their weight? Find out by watching the Man Utd vs Brighton live stream.
