Getting a full-blown personal 3D viewing experience these days requires investing in a 3D HDTV and a pair of 3D glasses. But hey, you don't need to shell out so much; if you've got an iPhone or iPod Touch, all you'll need is the i3DG Palm Top Theater.
The i3DG uses 3 partially silvered mirrors angled 45 degrees from the iPhone's screen. Each mirror reflects a particular portion of the iPhone's display, giving you the illusion of depth. The best part is, you no longer need to wear glasses at all.
It's a cute idea with a few drawbacks: first, every video needs to be split up into the three components to get the multilayered effect. Second, since each layer is taken from a portion of the display, the resulting viewing area is a really tiny 639x324 resolution. Finally, it's only compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Let's hope creator Jitsuro Mase brings this unique personal viewing innovation to other smartphones as well; Android and WinPhone 7 devices need a little 3D love too, you know. And let's not forget about the iPad.
