This Electric Vehicle Was Inspired by a Bird's Nest

Although it probably wouldn't be the first thing to come to mind when thinking for car design inspirations, a bird's nest actually incorporates a lot of elements we look for in the design of a car. Drawing inspiration from the home-like, protective natural structure of a bird's nest, the Citroen Metronest is definitely an interesting concept car. Designed by Hong-ik University's Sangmin Lee, the Metronest features an aerodynamic, ultra light-weight design.

Lee believes that a bird's nest represents a sort of ultimate structure in terms of protection, ventilation and heat regulation and has used it to inspire his multi-layered elastic elements lining the interior body of the car. Although the comfort and safety of such an internal structure is likely to be criticized, the Citroen Metronest is certainly thinking outside the box.
