Dell has confirmed that yes, the Dell Venue will be coming to the U.S. later this year. Unfortunately, the company was a little skimpy on details as far as pricing and a release date are concerned. However, it did mention that when it does finally hit U.S. stores, the device will be sold unlocked.
The Venue seems a little out of date compared to the Tegra 2 'Super Phones,' unleashed this week, but it’s got pretty decent specs and a large display. It’s basically the same as the very sexy Windows Phone 7-based Venue Pro; it just lacks the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Specifically, we’re looking at a 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and an 8 megapixel camera. The whole thing is running on Froyo, but we’re assuming a Gingerbread update is on the cards.
Like we said, no word on pricing or a release just yet but according to Engadget, it’s an AT&T device that will be sold directly to consumers through Dell.com. We’d say you can expect to pay in or around $500, as that's to be the norm for unlocked/off-contract phones.
