It's obvious how much the sanitation collection industry does for the environment. Yet they're known for putting out a little bit of pollution themselves, thanks to the smoke-belching diesel trucks needed to haul your trash. Well, not for much longer.
PVI and Dow Kokam have partnered to build the world's first fully electric garbage truck. Dow Kokam will provide its array of liquid-cooled lithium ion batteries, while PVI provides the electric powertrain. This zero-emission waste collector will soon take its first route at Courbevoie, a sleepy suburb just outside of Paris. So it'll still stink, just of the usual cheese-and-garlic smell the French are known for.
