Sony announced PlayStation Plus, the premium version of its PSN service at E3 a couple of weeks back. The company elaborated on the initial announcement last week, offering users a better idea of what they can expect from the service (free games, access to betas before everyone else and a try-before-you-buy feature among other things).
Today the company is rolling out the firmware update that brings with it PlayStation Plus. Also included in firmware 3.40 is a new Video Editor and Uploader, which allow you to edit and upload to YouTube/Facebook and an update to the photo gallery feature. This update will allow you to share photos via Facebook and Picasas.
There's also a new PSN Facebook app that allows for more integration between PSN and Facebook. Specifically, the new app gives you the ability to display your PlayStation Network profile on your Facebook account, find out which of your Facebook friends have a PSN account and send them a PSN friend request and view your PSN friends’ online status.
