Nintendo: Our Next Console Likely Won't Be 3D

Nintendo has recently been making headlines for its 3DS handheld console. The first console to sport glasses-less 3D technology, many assumed that Nintendo might decide to apply this tech to its next console. Despite Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata saying they'd "probably do [3D] with the next system," once 3DTV adoption rates hit around 30 percent, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has shot down the possibility of a 3D Wii 2 with recent comments to CNN.

"We've not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we've learned on 3-D, likely, that won't be it."

Reggie also said that based on what Nintendo has learned, "Glasses-free is a big deal." Nintendo’s Hideki Konno agreed with Reggie, saying, "I think at Nintendo, we realize that any sort of goggle-type 3-D technology was not going to work."
