A guy named Justin in Dallas, Texas has set up camp next to his local Apple store. Why? So he'll be first in line to receive the tasty new Apple iPhone 4 when it arrives. He even brought along his portable toilet.
Apple's new smartphone doesn't physically arrive in stores until June 24--that is, if nothing happens from now until next Thursday that could delay the launch. As it stands now, he'll be out there in the summer heat for just under a week, waiting on a device that can't even play Crysis.
"Some would say I am crazy, but I say I'm a very determined fan," Justin said in a forum post. "In fact I just might be one the biggest Apple fans you will actually meet. I have been the first costumer for this store since 2008 when the iPhone 3G was released."
Justin went on to admit that he reserved the phone long before he set up camp, however he willingly chose to make the concrete Apple storefront his destination of choice for his week-long camping trip.
This is the first "real" vacation he's had in ten years.
"Normally I only camp out over night, but since I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder and I am not in school at the point, I figure I just make it a fun experience and do it for a week," he said.
Without a doubt, he plans to camp out in front of the Apple store for the duration of the wait. Rather than jetting home to grab snacks, a shower or to use a flushing toilet, Justin has set up his sleeping gear, a chair, and an ice chest packed with food and drinks inside his tent. He even brought power cords for his electronics. The portable toilet is parked around the back of the tent.
Needless to say, this is a serious camper, and he's obviously serious about getting his iPhone 4 first. "The Apple staff have been very nice to me, treating me like a king!" he laughed.
No doubt about that--he's bringing the store lots of attention and potential customers.
