If you're just dying to play 3D games on the PlayStation 3, you might be interested in the latest tidbit of information Sony let loose about 3D gaming on its console.
Sony on Friday confirmed that, when playing 3D games, the image on the screen will be limited to a resolution of 720p. Joystiq reports that even games that usually run at 1080p will be scaled down to fit this guideline.
Though the PS3 is capable of 1080p 3D playback, Sony's Simon Benson said that the higher resolution would mean sacrificing the 60 fps available with 720 (compared to the 24 fps for Blu-ray movies). Benson went on to assure his audience that most gamers probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, as trained computer graphics artists barely could.

This proves yet again that even a mid end PC can easily outperform any console on the market, not to mention it has the ability to do more than gaming and playing films.
considering there are hardly any 1080p games out though, i don't see why this needed an announcement. we already know that 3d uses additional resources, and games need to drop down one resolution to support it. (1080p games go down to 720, and 720 to 480)
so was this just in case someone makes a game at 2560 resolution? and we are all disappointed we cant use it in 3d?
i understand the console gaming market is a 'simple' one, but im pretty sure this is a new level of dumb.

What?
wait wait what?? You lost me. When its labeled 1080p i assume its 1920 by 1080 and yes it can downscale to 720p but you also will get distorted images. Think of it as a LCD monitor you have it at 1680 by 1050 then drop it down to 1440 by 900 its going to look boxy and not as sharp so i am not sure what your talking about.
Great comment to wake me up in the morning, thank you.
Touchy.
the PC rules, simple as that and enough said
XBox fan boy???
What is Microsoft doing?
