Samsung has a new fitness tracker, the Gear Fit 2, as well as a pair of wireless earbuds that can also monitor your movement and double as a standalone music player. That's according to leaked images posted by VentureBeat, as well as some that briefly appeared on one of Samsung's Korean websites.
The Gear Fit 2 is a follow-up to the original Gear Fit, which launched in 2014. That device, which is still available, featured a curved AMOLED display with an optical heart rate monitor, and delivered notifications to your wrist. The Gear Fit 2 looks to have even more of a curved design — more Microsoft Band 2-like — while also including built-in GPS in addition to a heart rate monitor.
Also leaked was the Samsung IconX wireless earbuds, which will act as both a standalone fitness tracker and music player, courtesy of 4GB of onboard storage. Images of the earbuds and the fitness tracker both briefly appeared on one of Samsung's Korean sites, before being pulled down.
There's no further word on pricing or release dates for either device, but it's been a while since Samsung released a dedicated fitness tracker. We're definitely interested in seeing how it compares to other smartwatch-style fitness trackers, such as the Garmin Vivoactive HR. Samsung's earbuds could be the standout product, as they would be the first of their kind. We'll be keeping our ears open for any more news.
