Note: Be sure to check out the two slideshows for this article. You'll find them below. The first slideshow is a visual tour of the Toshiba p105-S9330. The second is all about performance, showing how the p105 performed across a variety of tests including 3DMark05, PCMark05, MobileMark 2005 and these games: Black & White 2, F.E.A.R, Doom 3 and Oblivion. We also look at the brightness and contrast of the notebook's display. Be sure to see the Features Table on the next page.
While the Toshiba Tecra line that we recently reviewed is all about business users, Toshiba's Satellite notebook line has always been consumer focused. In recent years Toshiba has fine tuned its Satellite model series for gamers too. The Satellite p105-S9330 is the company's latest gaming beast.
Though not a bleeding edge gaming notebook, the p105-S9330 is not all that far off. As tested our unit had an Intel Core2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.00 GHz, 4 MB L2, 667MHz FSB) with a 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS, and 2 GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM. All that CPU and graphics power shoots out onto a bright 17 inch 1440x900 display that's accompanied by a screaming set of harman/kardon speakers.
