VIDEO: Sexy Tennis Ad that 2K Games Ditched

Using real sports stars in commercials promoting sporty video games is a pretty good move in the world of marketing. Unfortunately, it seems 2K Sports blew an opportunity to have both Serena Williams and actress/gamer Rileah Vanderbilt in the same ad.

A sexy advertisement for 2K Sports’ Top Spin 4 featuring Serena Williams and Rileah Vanderbilt has shown up on YouTube despite the company's decision not to use it as part of the marketing campaign for the game. In an attempt to promote Top Spin 4, a tennis title compatible with Sony’s PlayStation Move peripheral, 2K Sports shot a commercial starring Serena Williams and "world’s sexiest tennis gamer" Rileah Vanderbilt. However, it would seem the studio wasn't satisfied with the finished product and decided not to use it at all.

For whatever reason, Rileah Vanderbilt posted a link to the commercial on her Twitter account and it spread to a number of different blogs around the web. Though 2K was initially quiet on the matter, the company has since released a statement assuring that it's not planning on using the commercial and that the distribution of the clip was unauthorized.

"As part of the process for creating marketing campaigns to support our titles, we pursue a variety of creative avenues," 2K Sports told Joystiq in a statement. "This video is not part of the title's final marketing campaign and its distribution was unauthorized."

Rileah's video has been set to private but here it is, courtesy of another kind YouTube user. Slighly NSFW considering the scantily clad women so maybe wait til you get home before watching.
