Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is shaping up to be a bold new DC Comics adventure from the folks behind the Batman: Arkham series. This time around, you'll take control of baddies like Harley Quinn and Deadshot, and your main goal is to kill Superman. No pressure.
This game has been the subject of industry rumors for some time, but the official confirmation came in earlier this month. And the game's cinematic trailer gives us a good look at what could be one of Rocksteady's strongest superhero entries yet.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League release date
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set for release in 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. We don't have a specific date just yet, but it looks like we'll be waiting a few years before we can take the fight to Superman.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer
The debut Kill the Justice League trailer is here, and it shows off a whole lot. We see a war-torn Metropolis that seems to be taken over by Brainiac's forces, who the Suicide Squad (Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, King Shark), are fighting off. After some sweet cinematic action scenes, we get the big reveal that Superman is in fact the game's main villain.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League gameplay
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is billed as a "genre-bending action-adventure shooter" set in an open-world Metropolis. The game can be played solo or with up to four players in online co-op, and based on the debut trailer, it looks like Harley, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark will all have unique fighting abilities that can be combined together.
Considering that this game comes from Rocksteady Studios, we'd expect an evolved take on the tight melee-driven combat that made the Arkham games such a success. The game will also feature customizable weapons and upgradable skills, though its unclear if this will be a true online RPG like WB's other big superhero game Gotham Knights.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League cast
Kill the Justice League's four playable characters are Harley Quinn (aka Dr. Harleen Quinzel), Deadshot (aka Floyd Lawton), Captain Boomerang (aka Digger Harkness) and King Shark (aka Nanaue). Suicide Squad task force leader Amanda Waller will also appear, as will Superman and presumably a big chunk of the Justice League.
We're still awaiting confirmation on the key voice actors for the game. Harley Quinn has been voiced by both Arleen Sorkin and Tara Strong in the Arkham series, so it's possible that one of the two actors reprises their role here.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League plot
Kill the Justice League tells an original DC story that tasks the Suicide Squad (This time consisting of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark) with "an impossible mission to save Earth and kill the world's greatest DC Super Heroes, The Justice League." Just to make things more difficult, the Suicide Squad have lethal explosives implanted in their heads that'll go off if they don't complete their mission.
As for why the Suicide Squad is battling the Justice League (and why Superman seems to be possessed), we still don't know. This game is also set in the Batman: Arkham universe, so it's possible we may see some crossovers with Bruce Wayne and crew.
Oh, and who are the Suicide Squad? Well, think of them as what happens when a bunch of villains who never got their moment as a top-tier gang band together for a higher profile.
Recent years have seen the likes of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, El Diablo and Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad's ranks. Oh, and they're not collected together for criminal behavior, unless you'd call aiding government organizations in accomplishing grim tasks "criminal." Who are we to judge?
You may remember there was a Suicide Squad movie released in 2016. We choose to forget it. An upcoming James Gunn-helmed Suicide Squad movie has a murder's row-level cast, including Margot Robbie, VIola Davis, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, Peter Capaldi and Taika Waititi. Hopefully this new game is connected to that movie, if it must be tied into any movie.
Either way, the game's title and content suggests that you will play the roles of various Suicide Squad members and spend time in the open streets of Gotham and other DC cities, hunting down Justice League members.
