The biggest downside of using headphones when you’re on the go and want to listen to some tunes is that you can’t share. And by share, we mean showing off to the world spectacular your taste in music. Sure, there are splitters available to use multiple headphones with, but there’s nothing like the convenience of having a portable speaker when you're in the mood for some "Check out how awesome my hipster music is!"
Design Affairs Studios' “FYLM” foldable speakers do just that with a device flat enough to fit in any backpack, pocket, or purse. The film of the speaker itself is extremely thin (0.25mm thick) and uses no battery, so it is an extremely light solution for group listening when traveling. Also keeping the size down is the absence of a bulky battery or ac adapter.
Instead, the device is powered by the 3.5mm audio jack on the device it is plugged into, meaning you might not experience the highest quality (or volume) of sound, despite the claims to full directional sound. It will be available in multiple colors to match your style of the day, whatever color it may be. No word on pricing or availability just yet, as the company is still making tweaks to the design.
