SexBox, the Adult Only Game Console

By - Source: Tom's Guide US | B 62 comments

Silicon Xtal Corporation has filed a patent for an AO gaming console.

[UPDATE September 3 2011]: Silicon Xtal has reached out regarding the validity of the source of this story. "This was apparently someone’s cruel idea of a joke on us," a company representative told Tom's Guide.

Trademark hounds have discovered that Silicon Xtal Corporation, an integrated circuit manufacturer located in San Jose, California, has registered the name SexBox with the U.S. Patent Office. If the name doesn't indicate it's purpose, here's the patent description to provide a clearer picture: a video gaming console comprised of computer hardware with unique controls which plays Adult Only rated (AO) video game software titles. That's right, a game console that plays adult-oriented games and media.

Wait, but there's more. According to the filing, the naughty gaming console will have access to associated adult-oriented content and entertainment through "interactive adult communities." There's also mention of movie rentals, massively multiplayer online games, and "more as technology evolves." The company even tries to beef up its image, stating on its website that Microsoft's Xbox 360 and many Nvidia video cards actually use its circuit designs.

Currently Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo do not allow AO rated games on past and present gaming consoles, and retail outlets usually do not sell AO-rated games whatsoever. As Siliconera points out, AO titles such as Indigo Prophecy: Director's Cut are traditionally sold and distributed online.

I'm pretty sure the Japanese already got the market cornered on this one. There are just so many things wrong that someone can say about this. I mean "sexbox"? We are doomed I say, doomed.

    Kevin ParrishWait, but there's more.

Dangit, Kevin. You need to watch more infomercials. It's "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" :)

You wonder why there are so few pornographic games out there. Their "programmers" can't type two lines of code without feeling the urge to masturbate. I reckon you'd get pretty sore after a few weeks of production.

At least the PS3 will finally have more games than somebody.

Truthfully I'm surprised nobody ever did that before now. Most sex toys aren't cheap to start from so why not a console? As for controllers, just combine existing toys with something similar to project natale and you got yourself a seller.

    " unique controls "- o.0....so this must mean a dildo/vibrator/fleshlight attachments

As for #1 selling consol, I think it will be a big hit with the college groups and just-broke-up groups XD

Question: Do you think companies that have stuff made with them (like ms) will be angered by the company for associating them with this kind of a product?

My only problem with these is that the USB powered vibrators just aren't powerful enough, I likes it rough...
