Nearly $400 is a lot to spend on a watch, smart or not. Withings is hoping consumers would fall for its $390 Activite, but the company is hedging its bets with the slightly more affordable Activite Pop.
The $149 Activite Pop, unveiled at CES 2015, looks similar to its pricier cousin: its classic analog-style watchface has one hand that shows the time, and another shows the percent of your daily activity goal that you’ve completed. However, the Pop lacks the luxurious leather strap, opting for a comfortable silicon strap that comes in multiple colors. Also, the body of the Pop is made from PVD-coated metal, which is much more affordable than the sapphire and stainless steel of the original Activite.
Like the Activite, the Pop doesn’t look like your typical activity tracking wristband, but that’s the point. I tried on the Activite Pop at CES 2015, and it looked chic with my outfit - it didn't look like I was wearing a smartwatch at all.
According to Withings, the Acitivite Pop will vibrate when you reach your step goal for the day, and it can automatically track running and swimming. It will also track your sleep, and you can set an alarm to have the watch vibrate to wake you up each morning.
Withings claims the Acitivite Pop can get eight months of battery life on a single charge. The Withings Activite Pop will be available in February 2015 for $149, and will come in azure, shark grey and sand color options. Stay tuned for our full review in the coming weeks.
