Best Buy: Tegra 2 Xoom Tab Priced at $800

Last night, Motorola joined the myriad of companies attempting to capitalize on the Super Bowl’s huge viewing audience with flashy and quirky commercials. The ad for the Motorola Xoom, with its adorable, dorky protagonist and damsel-drone in distress, was immediately a hit with us. However, something we’re not so enamored with is the price of the Xoom itself.

Engadget points to this Best Buy ad in which the Motorola Xoom is priced at a wallet-wincing $799.99. Ouch! The tablet is arriving in stores on February 24, but all the cute, nerdy boys in the world won’t make up for that price tag. The fair maiden may have to be rescued by someone with the more modestly price Galaxy tab.

The Honeycomb-based Xoom boasts Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipset, a 10.1-inch widescreen 1280x800 HD display, HDMI out, 1080p video playback, two cameras (2-megapixels up front and 5-megapixels + LED Flash in the back), a built-in gyroscope, barometer, compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting for new types of applications.

Any takers?

Are you sure there isn't an Apple logo somewhere on it? That's quite a bit of cash.

$600 take it or leave i... Oh you're gone..

Now lower the price so when it gets sold here in Aussie, it WONT be $1000+ for some reason even though the AUSD/USD ratio is close and I have no idea what makes it so expensive here.

But I want it so bad :
