The parent company of Tom's Guide, Purch, has launched a shopping app called Purchx that allows users to comparison shop for a wide range of tech products, including TVs, smart phones, fitness trackers, cameras, laptops and more. The app has more than 3 million peer-reviewed products and enables multiple product scans during a given session to let you compare more than one product at a time while in retail.
Purch acquired the Consumr app in March 2015 and has since renamed it to Purchx and added new features. The comparison-shopping feature lets you compare the product you're considering, such as the MacBook Air, against its top 20 competitors. Our editors worked with the app's developers to optimize the comparison engine for weighing various product attributes.
The Expert Picks designation will come in handy when you're looking for products that have been highly recommended by peers. Once you've found an item you like, you can buy it online or find out which nearby stores have the product in stock. If a product is available nearby, you'll be able to dial the retailer directly from the app.
Other Purchx perks include a rewards program for earning points and collecting real rewards and Purch Badges, which highlight products that have garnered favorable reviews from Tom's Guide and other Purch brands. Tom's Hardware, AnandTech, Laptopmag.com and Top Ten Reviews are among the other participating review sites.
Although Purchx covers a plethora of tech categories, it also lets you comparison shop for toys, beauty, baby, grocery and health products. Download the Purchx app and tell us what you think.
