Apple's second-generation AirPods include either a wireless or standard charging case and are priced at $199 and $159, respectively.
Over their predecessors, they boast hands-free Siri functionality, faster performance and longer battery life. AirPods discounts are rare we can only hope to see discounts on the first generation buds in the future.
As an alternative, you can get the Jabra Elite 65t Earbuds for $139.99 from eBay. Normally priced at $170, that's $30 off their list price. If you don't have an eBay account, Walmart and Best Buy also have these same buds on sale for $149.99 ($20 off).
In our Jabra Elite Active 65t earbuds review, we liked their comfortable, stay put design, 15-hour battery life and built-in accelerometer for run tracking. Although we found their charging case difficult to open, overall they're the top AirPods alternatives around.
If you're looking for AirPods bargains, then you've come to the right place. We'll be rounding up the best deals on AirPods we find right here.
If you prefer to go to the source, Apple currently has the all new AirPods in stock for $199 with a wireless charging case and $159 with a standard charging case. It comes as no surprise that Apple is not offering a discount on the first generation AirPods — during the company's lackluster Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping event, Apple only offered free gift cards with select purchases, and AirPods weren't part of the promotion.
Best Buy is the only retailer offering an AirPods discount, albeit in the form of a bundle. The retailer has the Apple AirPods bundled with 3 free months of Apple Music — a $30 value — for $159.99. This streaming service gives you access to 50 million songs and works on both iOS and Android devices.
You can score a pair at Staples in stores only for $159. Keep in mind that stock availability is dependent on your zip code.
For Black Friday 2018, Walmart was the only retailer to offer a discount of $5 on the Apple AirPods. They're now back in stock for more than their $159 retail price.
Where to Look
We've previously seen decent AirPods deals — upwards of $20 off — at retailers such as Newegg and eBay, so you'll want to check those places often for possible discounts. We've also seen AirPods discounts of up to $10 off from Staples, and Metro by T-Mobile recently offered a free pair with an iPhone plan. If you're a Costco member, you might want to keep an eye on their AirPods page.
Are AirPods Worth It?
Apple's AirPods earned a 4 out of 5 in our review thanks to their comfortable, lightweight design, strong audio quality and impressive 5-hour battery. They pair seamlessly to your iPhone, iPad or Mac, and also work with Android and Windows 10 devices. The AirPods do have a few drawbacks, including limited on-ear controls and the fact that they can only be charged with Apple's own charging case, but overall, these are some of the best truly wireless earbuds you can buy right now.
However, the AirPods have strong competition in the Jabra Elite 65t, which is our favorite Airpods alternative thanks to its even cozier fit, more durable (and subtle) design, and superb audio quality. They even support Alexa for voice commands. You can currently snag a pair of Jabra Elite 65t Earbuds from eBay for $139.99. They're also on sale at Walmart and Best Buy for $149.99 ($20 off).
Should You Buy AirPods 2?
The updated AirPods feature hands-free Siri, faster performance and longer battery life over its predecessor. While these changes don't exactly make the classic AirPods obsolete, they're worth keeping in mind if you want the better version of Apple's buds.
