Monday TRENDnet announced the launch of its first-to-market 450 Mbps Wireless N Access Point, the TEW-690AP.
Costing $199.99, the device supports Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS), and Repeater mode functionality. It generates a maximum theoretical wireless throughput of 450 Mbps using advanced Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology with three spatial streams per antenna.
According to TRENDnet, the TEW-690AP includes 4 SSIDs per wireless band, unique encryption for each SSID, WMM Quality of Service (QoS) data prioritization, WPA2-RADIUS encryption, an on/off power switch, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.
"Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) integrates other WPS supported wireless adapters at the touch of a button," the company said. "Gone are the days of entering complicated encryption codes; simply press the WPS button on the TEW-690AP, and then press the WPS button on a compatible wireless adapter—the devices automatically exchange information and connect."
TRENDnet said that the new Wireless N Access Point is currently shipping to retail partners and the company's online store. The TEW-690AP is actually listed at $187.99 on the company's store despite the announcement.
