Glu Mobile Added As WP7 Launch Publisher

Tuesday mobile games developer Glu Mobile Inc. revealed plans to bring its portfolio of titles to Xbox LIVE on Windows Phone 7 at launch.

The studio is the latest to join a growing list of developers sending popular franchises to Microsoft’s new platform including Konami (Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid), Namco Bandai (Soul Calibur, Tekken), THQ (Company of Heroes, Dawn of War II), and more.

"To be chosen to be part of the Launch Wave for the WP7 platform is incredible," said Adam Flanders, general manager, Glu Mobile. "We are excited to bring our simply addictive mobile games to Microsoft devices. We can deliver an authentic experience in a new era of gaming by reaching a vast audience of mobile gamers around the world with these new devices."

The two games included in Tuesday’s announcement were Guitar Hero 5 and Glyder: Adventure Worlds, however Glu Mobile's current portfolio also includes DJ Hero Mobile, Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare--Force Recon, Deer Hunter 3D and more.

Will Windows Phone 7 be able to compete against the iPhone in the mobile gaming market?

    It'll fall short in quantity for the foreseeable future, but i'll bet there will be more quality apps worth getting before long.

    bahaa!! WILL IT MSFT Will poop on the iphone's games its gonna pull devs like crazy just by the flash of money and the fact that people are waiting for this and have been for a long time

    I have to try WP7 for myself to judge, if WP7 can compete with i-OS , Meego, or even Android.
    At this point, I am not able to judge anything.

    If WP7 delivers only half of what it promises, then XBL will pull up the shortfall.
