Tuesday eFX Inc kicked-off its "Make-A-Wish Stormtrooper Helmet Auction" on eBay, an auction to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Beginning today and ending on December 20, 2010, the event features a limited edition replica stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars IV: A New Hope. What makes this replica so "valuable" to collectors is that it features 17 signatures from the cast and crew of the original Star Wars trilogy including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, George Lucas, John Williams, Billy Dee Williams, and even the late Irvin Kershner, director of the greatest Star Wars movie of all time, The Empire Strikes Back.
"The helmet has traveled more than 25,000 miles- from Southern California to Skywalker Ranch to New York, London and many places in between to be signed," eFX said in a press release. "This incredible collectible includes a display stand, Certificate of Authenticity and the actual black pen that was used by all of the signers."
Anthony Daniels actually used a gold pen based on the images provided for the auction. It too is supposedly included in the package.
The actual eBay listing can be found here, and contains information about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the full signature list of cast and crew members involved with the original trilogy, and the helmet's overall dimensions. According to eFX, the helmet is a genuine, full-size asymmetrical "hero" version, digitally scanned and cast from an original screen-used helmet.
As of this writing, the current bid has reached $5,100 USD in just under three hours.
