PS3 to Get 3D Firmware Update in the Summer

Pocket-Lint reports that the company will releasing a 3D firmware update for the PS3 console this summer. Citing John Koller, the director of hardware marketing for SCEA, P-L says that Sony will release a 3D firmware update this summer, turning it into "a fully-fledged, stereoscopic 3D-capable games platform." Separate updates that will bring support for 3D Blu-ray.

P-L also touched on whether Sony would ever release a 1TB PS3. Unfortunately for you storage hogs, it doesn't look like the folks at PlayStation have any plans for a PS3 with such a large HDD. Koller points out that with the availability of the 250GB storage add-on, anyone who wants a 1TB PS3 can have one.

"The flexibility of PS3’s design enables you to have a 1TB PS3 if you wanted. Ultimately, our goal is to provide options to PS3 users so that whatever their entertainment choices are next year or the year after, they’ll have the storage space to accommodate the way they want to use their system."
