For consumers looking for help in keeping tabs on the home while away on vacation, networking experts Belkin has a great solution: the NetCam HD Wi-Fi camera. It's a wireless networking camera that shoots 720p high-definition video even in little or no light thanks to infrared night vision. Clear digital audio even makes it easier to hear those creepy whispers when tracking down ghosts that are roaming through the house.
"Portable devices have become central to today’s connected homes and we designed NetCam HD for mobile consumers to take full advantage of their HD video and audio capabilities to effortlessly check in on their pets or loved ones from anywhere day or night," said Mike Chen, senior director of product management, Belkin.
Owners set up the camera by first downloading the NetCam app for iOS or Android. After that, it can be directly accessed by a smartphone and tablet so that the end-user can add it to the local network – no computer is required. The camera doesn't run on a rechargeable battery, so creepers will need to find a way to route power into remote hiding places like vents and whatnot.
In addition to streaming HD video and audio to their mobile device, users can also set up options like enabling email and/or text notifications when motion is detected. This is handy for monitoring a child's nursery or bedroom during naptime so that parents aren't forced to keep an eye on the screen. Video and audio can also be set up to record directly to a phone or tablet.
"The camera's wide-view lens is ideal for monitoring a large living room or backyard. Additionally, night vision lets you watch after dark or in dim lighting, which is particularly useful for monitoring a child's nursery or bedroom during naptime," the company said.
Belkin’s NetCam HD Wi-Fi Camera is available for purchase now at belkin.com, Amazon.com, Verizon, Target stores and other major retailers for $149.99. The free NetCam app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
