The Little Robot That Can do Lounge Acts

Like we said before, not all robots are out to get us: some of them are more interested in the arts than in human subjugation. The latest musically-inclined machine to hit the stage is this little robot from Alyssa Batula and Yougmoo Kim of Drexel University.

Unlike improvisational mecha-maestros like Shimon, this little pianist is a bit more classically trained, and needs sheet music before it can perform. It can play a song up to 200 beats per minute, but it's limited to simple melodies thanks to its lack of fingers -- about 8 of them, to be exact. I guess it won't be playing Carnegie anytime soon.
