When Apple announced it had struck a deal that would finally bring the Beatles to iTunes, we weren't exactly trembling with excitement. Sure, it was good news and fans had been waiting nearly a decade to see the lads from Liverpool on iTunes, but we figured most people would have ripped their Beatles CD collection a long time ago. Still, it seems some people were standing by, ready to pounce on the digitized Beatles back catalog as soon as possible.
Apple has announced that iTunes has seen the sale of 2,000,000 Beatles tracks and 450,000 Beatles albums in the first week of their availability. In case you were wondering, so far, the most popular Beatles song seems to be 'Here Comes the Sun.' "Abbey Road," the White Album and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" also managed to land in iTunes's top 20 albums chart, and 15 Beatles albums had made the top 100.
The top ten selling Beatles tracks on iTunes at the moment are as follows:
