DC Fandome recap — Batman movie trailer, The Flash teaser and much more

DC Fandome had *everything* in the DC world. Almost too much. So we broke down everything from The Batman trailer to the Peacemaker show.

(Image: © DC/Warner Bros.)

Unlike anything we've seen in a while DC Fandome 2021 had it all. The new trailer for Matt Reeves' The Batman movie is awesome, as was the teaser of The Flash movie. Peacemaker looks like it's going to be a hoot, and Aquaman 2's behind the scenes reel was a delight.

The Harley Quinn season 3 material, though? Underwhelming, while the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights content was heavy on pre-render and light on gameplay.

We've got our complete live-blog of DC Fandome 2021, but a bit of a roundup first.

The Batman (2022) trailer: We finally got to see Selina Kyle in a Catwoman outfit, as well as a bit more of the crisis in Gotham that Batman's facing. It almost seems like the movie will have The Joker in jail already. We also saw our first look at Andy Serkis as Alfred.

Peacemaker: Honestly, John Cena's new HBO Max series looks like the most fun-to-make project of any of what they showed off at Fandome. Cena talked about the difficulty of being a more hateable character, but James Gunn jokingly said it actually seemed like it came easy to the former WWE champion.

The Flash: While we saw the Batman cowl, and thought we saw the Batmobile under wraps, this package didn't have a whole lot of new. Except talking about how the movie will go all across timelines.

Refresh

Fandome hasn't started yet, but we've already got some treats. New posters for The Batman movie (via Empire) bring more of the red-and-black color scheme. The first features Bats himself, but the more interesting (and terrifying) shot is the second image, which appears to be Paul Dano's The Riddler (see the ? behind his "to the Batman" card).

We think this Riddler will be some kind of full-on creepy Zodiac Killer. But time, and maybe today's trailer, will tell more.

And now we've just gotten our first idea of when to expect something big from Fandome. The Rock himself, Dwayne Johnson, posted on his Instagram that the new Black Adam look will debut at 10:06 a.m. ET. At the start of the clip it appears we see Black Adam atop a throne in Kahndaq (we think?), and then we get quick shots of Black Adam in costume, to see the textures of his suit.

Check out this clip from his Instagram for yourself.

And the previews keep coming. Batman director Matt Reeves shared a photo of Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle (not in Catwoman gear) on his Twitter. This moodily lit shot makes this version of Kyle look all her own, and not bearing the influence of any of the more recent (or regrettable) versions.

And now we've got a little more intel on what's going on with Peacemaker at DC Fandome. The standout character of The Suicide Squad will be getting his own HBO Max show, but before that, we're getting a panel and a teaser for the show today.

The panel will feature James Gunn, John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, and Freddie Stroma.

Right now, we're very curious about The Flash movie, and how many of the bold and brave heroes of the DCEU will appear. Set for appearances are multiple versions of Batman, with Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton in the role of Bruce Wayne.

But what about Superman? The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti seems to be hinting that Henry Cavill's version of Supes, the other man fast enough to tear a new one in the space-time continuum, could also appear.

Personally, we're most excited about what's happening in Harley Quinn season 3. We're hoping to get a release date for the season, plus learn that DC's management has gotten out of the writers' way.

Yes, Batman could be a selfish lover, but that is not a "heroic" trait. We're also hoping that Harley Quinn's King Shark (Ron Funches) and Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League's King Shark (pro wrestler Samoa Joe) share a moment at DC Fandome.

Here we go, folks! Any last second predictions? Let us know on Twitter, @tomsguide, and we'll chat it up!

We're hoping for at least one big surprise movie announcement, and release dates for everything we already knew about. But we're greedy like that. Really, though, what we want is for that Batman trailer to be live up to our expectations, and show us more of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and Batman. The villains of this Gotham already look like they have this thing down pat.

While the movie looks fantastic and we trust Pattinson at this point given his resume, we're just hoping to see more of The Batman himself.

But, oh, if we get a moment between Pattinson, Affleck and Keaton? That'd rule.

The many stars of the DCEU appeared at the start of the DC Fandome stream to kick things off. Clearly, with that tight shirt, Dwayne's looking to prove he didn't skip traps-day.

Also, this montage of DC movies? We see you Michael Keaton.

A plethora of logos later, and we got a familiar look at R. Patts as Bats!

DC is showing off its worldwide set of non-celeb hosts, and we're hearing Spanish, French and even geek.

Here comes Dwayne to talk about Black Adam. He says they've just started post-production, and that they're working on "holy shit!" scenes.

OK, a bit of the opening scene of Black Adam!

So, none of Black Adam uncloaked, but we saw him catch bullets, melt a dude to charred ashes and electrify the room.

So, we're talking about The Flash, and star Grant Gustin explains that all that's missing from the character's look is his signature gold boots. Then, the boots were confirmed!

OK, now we're seeing a lot of water freeze ... and it's time for Aquaman 2 news, I think!

Can't get anything past us! All the Aquaman 2 hype just rolled out! And they previewed an Aquaman animated series!

And check out this awesome Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom logo!

Echo Kellum, Denys Cowan and Reggie Hudlin are talking about the work that Milestone Media has done to improve the issues with representation in comic books. Static Shock and other heroes of color are being discussed, and we're curious where the next stage of Static's story will be told.

Get ready for crossovers. More seasons of Icon and Rocket and Static are coming, and the big news here is ...

Also,  a 1,300 page compendium of Milestone's content is coming!

The live-action feature Static Shock film is mentioned, Michael B. Jordan is producing.

And a Milestone animated feature film is confirmed!

We got a WebToon preview for Wayne Family Adventures!

Flula Borg is talking about Javelin's death in The Suicide Squad, as a segue to the Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League preview.

The clip from the Suicide Squad game is heavy on pre-rendered cinematics (which look really cool), and light on gameplay footage. Superman looks very grim, the Penguin gets shocked (a lot) and King Shark looks awesome.

This Killer Shark fancam music video is reminding us that Nanaue is everything.

The Suicide Squad cast is here to thank the public, and it's all just a segue to talk about the big spinoff!

Peacemaker looks like it was a ton of fun to make. the cast panel is showing off a lot of love between this team. It appears that Cena (in character) was making everyone break, but Steve Agee was recording stuff on his own phone the whole time.

Peacemaker's pet eagle Eagley sounds like it will be the Baby Yoda of the show, that steals the entire thing. Agee and Gunn are talking about how they were shocked that they could do it.

Also, Cena dances for four minutes in his "tighty whiteys" to a choir of sorts? Count us in.

Cena said the biggest trouble for him in character was becoming a worse person that he's normally just "a normal asshole." Remember, this is a guy that WWE wouldn't let be a villain, ever.

Then, Peacemaker is compared to The Office, but with superheroes.

Cena says Peacemaker is an eight-episode show.

A first look at the Peacemaker teaser! Peacemaker's breaking out of a hospital, and bantering with a custodian who doesn't believe he's a hero. And Peacemaker it turns out, believes that "butt babies" are a thing.

The show's humor is on full display. John Cena is never going back to pro wrestling.

Also, Peacemaker's got daddy issues.

Now, Superman & Lois season 2 is mentioned and confirmed by its leads. And we've got a behind the scenes look at filming of season 2. Not much news, just showing what cast members love about the sets.

Not to be a hater, but this isn't a good advertisement from the Superman & Lois show.

Now it's time to start to say goodbye to Supergirl.

The cast has assembled, most of them still in some costume.

This cast seems really fun. I should try and watch Supergirl some day. To be honest, the CW and CW-like superhero shows just never appealed to me because the people are too pretty

The cast is talking about how they break so often on set, and how kids think their powers are real. Kids are fun.

This little boy in Stargirl is creepy as hell. Also, Luke Wilson and Amy Smart in a DC show? And here's Dr. Midnight too

Jim Lee is talking about stuff in the Superman comics, with the Jon Kent, son of Kal-El story that has gotten headlines as of late.

Doom Patrol season 3 has four episodes left, and they're previewing it. And season 4 has just been confirmed for HBO Max!

OK FOLKS! FLASH MOVIE TIME!

Ezra Miller, in a choker, is here with a small sneak peak of The Flash movie!

Timelines will be explored.

And, yes, Batman and the Batmobile are coming along for the ride:

Our first look at Gwendoline Christie's Lucifer in Netflix's Sandman!

It's time to talk about the animated Injustice comics and animated movie!

Injustice animated movie at DC Fandome

Injustice, if you're not hip to it, has a very evil Superman.

Of course, Superman goes bad because of something heinous done to Lois. And the Scarecrow's fear gas is mixed with Kryptonite. And then there's Doomsday and a big BIG boom.

Xolo Maridueña and the folks behind the Blue Beetle movie are hyping up the character and the Scarab that turns Jaime Reyes into the Blue Beetle.

Now, a tribute to Smallville.

Smallville is coming to Blu-ray for the first time on Oct. 19. And now Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum are here to talk about their time on the show.

Welling and Rosenbaum just look like regular dudes.

I refuse to look up how old I was when Smallville was on. I could do the easy math about my age minus 20, but I feel old right now. Very old. Smallville also just feels old.

Congrats to the fans, though.

DC's Monkey Prince returns to comics in February 2022.

Seems like the Batman / Gotham City portion of the show has begun, with Gotham Knights starting us off. And before you can say "Squid Game VIPs" it's Court Of Owls season!

Javicia Leslie and Rachel Skarsten are hyping up Batwoman's next season.

Batwoman and Alice is the big storyline, and we saw a bit of a preview.

Camrus Johnson is talking about Batwing.

Camrus Johnson wrote a Batwing story where the hero takes on The Riddler and Killer Croc.

So, Catwoman: Hunted, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and The Batman trailer are the next big things. How is are they going to fill 1.75 hours with that?

A new Catwoman animated film, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the character, is coming.

Catwoman: Hunted is coming in February 2022. Constantine, Teen Titans Go, Battle of the Super Sons and Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition are forthcoming animated titles.

So there have been 100 episodes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and they're kinda-recapping them in a 100-second supercut. Not really a great way to figure it out, but hey I saw Brandon Routh in there. Nice to see him.

This show has a whole lot going on. And puppets, too. Like, maybe there's too much. Even a Star Trek episode. A stuffed animal kaiju. And the older, bulkier brother from Prison Break?

They keep saying "OWN IT NOW!" ... but ... do people actually buy TV shows still? Really?

Did I just drop acid without knowing it, or did they just say there's going to be a show where superheros become cars? Children's shows are weird.

Winston Duke is going to be in a Spotify-based audio project in the Batman universe.

AND Winston Duke is going to be Batman.

Why can't he be Batman in a movie, though?

A Batman x Puma collaboration is happening, and Neymar is going to announce it.

Roll your eyes or your futbols. Just keep on rollin'.

Batgirl is getting a full-length feature, and Leslie Grace (In The Heights) is playing Barbara Gordon. But is this animated or live action? They're not saying...

It's a live action project.

This Batgirl will have a cowl and red hair.

It's currently in pre-production.

Titans is wrapping up season 3. Brenton Thwaites, Nightwing himself, is talking about it, and debut a new S3 clip.

Titans and Doom Patrol are both confirmed for season 4s.

Harley and King Shark are here to debut a Harley Quinn season 3 sizzle reel.

The season is coming "some time in 2022." And the sizzle-reel is basically stop-motion animation with storyboards of the show.

We're talking Batman: Caped Crusader with Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams, James Tucker and Matt Reeves, and this version may be more violent or adult than Batman: TAS.

Batman: Caped Crusader still from DC Fandome

Caped Crusader is taking place before Batman has earned the trust of Jim Gordon. It has a German Expressionism/film noir look, as seen above. But it won't be in black and white, but maybe just for one episode.

Batman: Caped Crusader will be on Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

After speaking with a colleague from one of our sister sites, I'm totally happy with this sort of presentation replacing SDCC and NYCC.

So, we're looking at a new DC mobile game. DC Heroes and Villains.

Time to talk SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods. Zach Levi is here to chat about it, and shows off a behind the scenes package for the 2023 film.

In a Wonder Woman 80th anniversary package, we hear Gal Gadot talking about Wonder Woman's inclusiveness. That's followed by Patty Jenkins and Lynda Carter talking about the character.

Christian Convery is here to talk Sweet Tooth. I wonder if we get Sweet Tooth season 2 news.

Pennyworth season 3 is an HBO Max exclusive coming in 2022.

Jack Bannon and Ben Aldridge are here to break that news from the set, which is currently in production. There will be a five-year time jump in the show, whose first two seasons hit HBO Max in early 2022.

They keep bleeping Lee out. Seems like they're hiding something.

Sounds like Crisis on Infinite Earths will be the Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame of the DCEU?

It's The Batman trailer time!

Well, not a trailer, but a behind the scenes featurette first.
