In the expected main event, it's Cody Rhodes defending his WWE Championship against Gunther and Sami Zayn in triple-threat action. After Sami had screwed up the past two matches between the American Dream and the Ring General, he's been rewarded with getting the chance to win a first World Title of his illustrious career. And given the reaction Zayn always gets in Saudi Arabia, it could prove to be a fantastic moment should Sami manage to the win in Riyadh.

Two other main attractions of WWE Night of Champions 2026 are the finals of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. With the winners of those tourneys earning themselves a World Title shot at SummerSlam later this year, it's Oba Femi vs. Jey Uso, and Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY. Of course, there's also the presence of Brock Lesnar looming large over that KOTR bout, given recent shots Oba has taken at the Beast Incarnate. Interestingly, these two matches have been announced to open the show and will be airing on ESPN.

Rounding out the Night of Champions card, WWE United States Champion Trick Williams puts his gold on the line against Ricky Saints, which will mark a first-ever main roster PLE appearance from Absolute. Then there's the small matter of former stablemates Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker colliding within the confines of a steel cage, as this lengthy rivalry looks to finally come to a definitive end.

I love learning the ins and outs of AI tools, diving into autobiographies, getting lost in video games and exploring all kinds of music. Another longtime obsession of mine is the “sport” of professional wrestling. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by the in-ring action and the larger-than-life personalities behind some of wrestling’s most memorable promos.

Legendary performers from the United States, Japan, Mexico and beyond have mastered the art of making every move look brutal while using skill, timing and technique to help protect their opponents.

With that in mind, I turned to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude to explain how two iconic wrestling finishers manage to look so devastating while being executed as safely as possible. By the end of the experiment, I came away with an even greater appreciation for the craft behind the sport I’ve loved for years

The RKO

Randy Orton’s RKO comes out of nowhere and always looks like it smashes the opponent’s face into the ground with a smooch force as possible.

I’ve been watching Orton land this move since 2004 and have always wondered how he makes it look so good while simultaneously making his foe’s descent into the mat face-first not as bad as it looks.

With this prompt, I presented it to my three chatbots turned wrestling experts to truly learn how the RKO is performed and safe on the opponent (victim?) taking it: How is Randy Orton's finishing move, the RKO, done safely yet still looks painful on the wrestler that takes it?

• ChatGPT described the RKO as a move that “looks like a sudden, skull-rattling faceplant — but when done correctly, it’s surprisingly controlled and safe.” It emphasized that the move is highly collaborative, with the wrestler taking it positioning their body to absorb the impact properly. ChatGPT also noted that the person receiving the RKO usually lands flat on their chest, not directly on their face. Just as importantly, it explained that Randy Orton’s role is more about timing and control than brute force.
• Gemini broke the move down with a chart titled Comparison of Roles, featuring three categories: Feature, What Randy Does and What the Opponent Does. It focused on the landing, grip and impact of the RKO. According to Gemini, Orton takes a full back bump — one of wrestling’s safest and most common falls — while reaching back to cradle the opponent’s chin or neck and absorbing much of the sound and impact with his own back. The opponent, meanwhile, performs a front bump by landing flat on their chest and thighs, keeping their neck muscles tight to avoid whiplash and using their hands and body to create the loud smack fans hear.
• Claude offered a step-by-step explanation in four key points. It said the opponent often leaps forward to help generate momentum, tucks their chin to protect the head and neck, extends their arms and takes the landing on their chest and forearms rather than their face, essentially turning the move into a controlled front bump. Claude also explained how the elevated “Outta Nowhere” version can be performed safely: when Orton hits the RKO from a jump or off the ropes, the added airtime can actually make the landing more controlled, creating a smoother impact with less raw force.

The Hidden Blade

As an AEW fan, I’ve become a massive fan of Will Ospreay’s hybrid wrestling style that combines high-flying offense, hard-hitting strikes and vicious slams.

One of the sickest-looking maneuvers he pulls out to finish an opponent is the “Hidden Blade,” a snappy elbow strike that looks like it always KO’s anyone it comes in contact with. Once again, I went to my three chosen chatbots to crack the code on how it's safely performed and still manages to look so excruciating on TV:

• ChatGPT described the Hidden Blade as a finisher built on precision, trust and illusion. It centered its explanation around three key points: it is not a direct shot to the head, because the opponent positions themselves so the contact zone is controlled; the opponent helps create the impact by snapping their head and upper body forward at the moment of contact; and Will Ospreay focuses on controlled contact rather than full force, using body rotation to create the illusion of power. ChatGPT said the move looks especially dangerous because it visually targets the head and neck area — something audiences instinctively react to — and because its sudden speed leaves little room for error.
• Gemini gave the Hidden Blade a funny but fitting nickname: the “Deltoid Lariat.” It explained that Ospreay makes contact with the back of the opponent’s neck or shoulders using the padded part of his upper arm and shoulder rather than a bony joint like the elbow. That helps spread force across a wider area, reducing the risk of localized injury. Gemini also added a fun bit of trivia: the move’s name is likely inspired by the Assassin’s Creed video game series, where the Hidden Blade is a stealth weapon used for surprise attacks. In wrestling, Ospreay uses it as a strike from the opponent’s blind spot.
• Claude organized its analysis into three sections: How It’s Done Safely (from Ospreay’s side), How It’s Done Safely (from the opponent’s side) and Why It Looks So Devastating. Claude noted that Ospreay’s arm is extended rather than bent, which helps disperse force more safely than a concentrated elbow strike. It also explained that the opponent subtly adjusts their head and neck position to minimize real contact, often dipping or turning at the right moment. As for why it looks so brutal, Claude said the sound plays a huge role: the slap of Ospreay’s arm combined with the opponent’s mat bump creates a noise that feels genuinely violent.

Bottom line

As someone who vividly remembers watching "Exposed! Pro Wrestling’s Greatest Secrets" when it debuted in the ’90s (yes, I’m that old), I’ve always been fascinated by how wrestlers pull off their flashiest moves while working to keep their opponents as safe as possible.

I had a lot of fun learning the mechanics behind the RKO and the Hidden Blade, and I’ll definitely be watching for the visual cues ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude pointed out the next time I see either finisher on TV — or even better, live in person.

A surprise mea culpa has served as the latest twist in a strange buildup to WrestleMania 42's main event. The World Heavyweight Championship showdown between CM Punk and Roman Reigns will bring the curtain down on wrestling's biggest weekend, but at this stage they're equally likely to come to blows as hug all the bad blood out.

It wouldn't be the first time a WrestleMania host has got involved. Just ask "Stone Cold" Steve Austin or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

There are 13 matches on the card in total, including eight title fights, but the "so-called" lower-stakes showdowns, such as Oba Femi's seismic meeting with Brock Lesnar and Jacob Fatu's grudge match with Drew McIntyre, are every ounce as compelling.

I've been watching wrestling for nearly 3 decades, and there are very few things that have followed me from childhood into adulthood like professional wrestling.

WrestleMania weekend is the Super Bowl of wrestling, and this year the whole thing is streaming live on ESPN Unlimited in the US and Netflix internationally. Better yet, the first hour of Saturday and Sunday's show will be free to air on ESPN2 to try and build excitement.

WrestleMania 42 Night 1 - Saturday April 18

Logan Paul, Austin Theory & IShowSpeed vs. The Usos & LA Knight

Logan Paul at WrestleMania, love him or hate him, is just good television. I don't think anyone who started watching wrestling in the 90s ever imagined they'd say that, but here we are. He always delivers on the big stage with some insane viral moment, and having IShowSpeed alongside him is exactly the kind of crossover moment WWE loves right now.

The Usos and LA Knight will get the crowd excited for this match to kickstart the weekend on free-to-air TV, and it should be a fun way to get everybody amped up. Logan will pull off a crazy stunt, get the pin, and post about it on social media for the next six months.

• Winner: Logan Paul, Austin Theory & IShowSpeed

Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre

This feud has been building since October, and an unsanctioned match is the perfect way to culminate it. It's difficult to pick against my fellow Scot, Drew Mcintyre, especially after his stellar year as one of the top performers in the company.

That said, WWE will give the win to Jacob Fatu here in what should be one of the best matches of Night 1, as I fully expect him to go on to bigger things and challenge the winner of the main event for the WWE Championship in the following months.

• Winner: Jacob Fatu

Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer (c)

Liv Morgan deserves her moment at the top again and I think the 2026 Royal Rumble winner will achieve exactly that when she beats Stephanie Vaquer for the Women's World Championship on Saturday night.

This feud has been gaining heat over the last few weeks despite very little TV time and I think it could be one of many matches this weekend that outperforms the storyline that both wrestlers have had to work around.

• Winner: Liv Morgan

Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee (c)

One last run for Becky Lynch before she sails off into potential retirement? Yep, I think so. On paper, this feud should've been amazing, but unfortunately, AJ's 10 years away from the squared circle have shown in her promos, and neither woman has been able to really get me interested in this one.

Expect The Man to get the 1,2,3 and lift the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in a match you'll have forgotten about come Sunday morning.

• Winner: Becky Lynch

Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. Nia Jax & Lash Legend (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki & Brie Bella

This one could go in a few different directions, but I think whatever happens, there's very little chance the champions retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship here. My pick is Bayley and Lyra because of their year-long storyline together and the fact that they should've won it last year.

• Winner: Bayley & Lyra Valkyria

Seth Rollins vs. Gunther

There's barely any storyline here, but who cares when it's two of the best in-ring performers on the planet? In the past, some of the best WrestleMania matches of all time have been sleeper hits leading into the event itself, and because of that, I'm pumped for this one.

I think Gunther winning via interference by the returning Bron Breakker is the obvious result here, but if he's not fit, then I'm genuinely unsure how this match will end. My prediction, however, is that this will be the best match of Night 1, and I can't wait!

• Winner: Gunther via Bron Breakker interference

Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes (c)

Do I need to predict this match? Sigh. Pat McAfee was brought into this storyline to sell tickets to WrestleMania 42, and not only did it completely ruin the build to a match with over 20 years of history, but it has actively killed the hype for many fans for the event as a whole.

Randy Orton will win the Undisputed WWE Championship here, and I'm sure there will be McAfee shenanigans. Expect to see Jelly Roll, and expect a fairly quiet crowd after one of the worst WrestleMania storylines in history. Oh what could've been...

• Winner: Randy Orton

This match is arguably the most hyped WrestleMania 42 bout, but if WWE don't make the right choice here, it could go down as one of the worst in history.

Oba Femi needs to win this match, and if done correctly, a new star will be born in Las Vegas on Sunday night. Beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania would give Oba a direct route to a world championship by the end of 2026, but if he loses, it could just ruin the whole of Sunday's show.

Je'Von Evans vs. Penta (c) vs. Dragon Lee vs. JD McDonagh vs. Rusev vs. Rey Mysterio

Ladder matches at WrestleMania are made for moments, and this one has the talent to deliver something genuinely memorable. Penta is a worthy champion, Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio will do things that make you question the laws of physics, and JD McDonagh will be absolutely insufferable in the best possible way.

But I think Je'Von Evans climbs down with the Intercontinental title. He's young, he's electric, and this feels like exactly the right stage for his breakthrough moment. This will be a crowning moment for the new Intercontinental Champion.

Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill (c)

Rhea Ripley needs to reclaim the SmackDown Women's title at WrestleMania on Sunday night and this is one of the easiest predictions on the entire card. The crowd will be absolutely electric the moment her music hits, and the Jade Cargill experiment has ran out of steam.

Replace a mediocre champion with one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, don't mess this up WWE.

"The Demon" Finn Bálor vs. Dominik Mysterio

Dominik has been excellent in his role and has genuinely become one of the most entertaining characters on the roster, but the entrance alone tells you the result before the bell even rings. Bálor gets his WrestleMania moment, the production team earns their money, and it's going to look absolutely incredible.

Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn (c)

Please put the United States Championship on Trick Williams! This guy is a star, and I want WrestleMania 42 to go down as the event where WWE invested in its future and let go of its past. Sami Zayn as a babyface is not working anymore, and Williams has the charisma and talent to shine under the brightest lights.

Come Sunday, Trick Williams wins the belt, alongside Lil Yachty (yes, the rapper).

CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns (c)

I've changed my mind on this more times than I'd like to admit. The storyline has not hit the heights that I think we all expected with two of the biggest superstars in the world, but I think Punk retains here.

I think there's going to be interference, and maybe even an appearance from The Rock to build to next year's main event against Roman. Punk has been on an incredible run and closing out WrestleMania 42 as World Heavyweight Champion feels like the right call for where the company is right now.

Ask me again on Saturday night and I might have completely changed my mind. That's wrestling.

While no titles are on the line here, the American Nightmare will definitely be up against it, as he faces a powerhouse who many are already tipping to be a future WrestleMania headliner.

Elsewhere, NXT's Sol Ruca gets the chance to test herself against former five-time Women's Champion Bayley in what should be an excellent match. Bayley has long been one of the best, most consistent wrestlers in the business, some would say the heartbeat of the WWE women's division, and, much like Oba Femi, Sol Ruca is a hugely promising talent who many see big things for in the coming years.

Round out what is currently a four-match card for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, and a match only announced days before SNME, WWE World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee have the task of dealing with NXT's Je'Von Evans and TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater in a match that has all the potential to steal the entire show. With plenty of heated history between various members of those opposing teams - not to mention within each team, too - this could well be the most stacked WWE WarGames bout yet in terms of sheer name power.

When it comes to the match that could well steal the entire PLE, though, that's the women's WarGames offering. Here, we've got AJ Lee teaming with Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair as they go to war with Becky Lynch, Lash Legend, Nia Jax and The Kabuki Warriors. Again, there are so many story threads dotted across this one, be that the beef between Becky and AJ, Rhea and Iyo's rivalry with Asuka and Kairi Sane, or Nia and Lash's recent run of domination and decimation.

Elsewhere, the WWE Women's World Championship is on the line as Stephanie Vaquer defends against Nikki Bella; all in the aftermatch of Nikki turning in La Primera earlier this month. With new streaming deals, including WWE's Premium Live Events moving to ESPN starting next year, being a professional wrestling fan has never been more expensive. If you thought being an NFL fan was expensive, it is far more daunting for your bank account to watch every WWE and AEW event than it is to stream every NFL game. Granted, WWE and AEW both put out multiple shows a week every week of the year, but it will essentially cost you a month's rent in many major U.S. cities to watch every broadcast from the two major professional wrestling outfits in 2026.

At least, that's the claim a few of my friends (who have requested anonymity, lest the wrestling community dub them a heel) brought to my attention following the ESPN deal being announced. So I investigated all the streaming services you'd need to subscribe to, and just how much it would cost to watch all the WWE and AEW broadcasts that WWE and AEW completionists would need to watch, and I landed on an eye-watering number.

Brace yourself — to watch every WWE and AEW event in 2026, you'll need to pay ... $1,400. No, that's not a typo. That's because you'll need ESPN, a live TV streaming service, an antenna, Netflix and HBO Max to stream every event from WWE and AEW.

Again, that's the price for a completionist. If you only want to watch major events, things get a bit more affordable, especially with WWE now transitioning from pay-per-view events to Premium Live Events, which are included in your ESPN Unlimited subscription. Below, I've broken down how much it will cost to watch every WWE and AEW wrestling live event by brand, and I've let you know what streaming services you'll need to do it.

WWE Premium Live Events

If you want to watch WWE's Premium Live Events, you're going to need ESPN, at least in the U.S. Globally, the rights belong to Netflix, but in the U.S., these events, which were formerly known as pay-per-view events, are moving from Peacock to ESPN Unlimited starting in 2026 (though some, like Wrestlepalooza on Sept. 20, 2025 have already moved to ESPN).

The good news is these events won't cost extra. If you have ESPN Unlimited, you can watch PLEs like Royal Rumble and WrestleMania as part of your subscription. And while an ESPN Unlimited subscription costs $29.99 a month, which isn't cheap, it's less than what PPV events typically cost, and cheaper than AEW's PPV events (more on those later).

Now, here are two big caveats you need to take note of. First, I'm projecting you'll need ESPN Unlimited for all 12 months of the year, but at present, only three months in 2026 currently have a PLE scheduled. Obviously, if there's no PLE in a given month, you can cancel ESPN for that month.

Second, you can get ESPN Unlimited for free if you have cable or a live TV streaming service, but only with select providers. For example, Spectrum and DirecTV offer ESPN Unlimited for free to many customers, as does Verizon Fios. But YouTube TV, our best live TV streaming service, doesn't yet have a deal with ESPN to allow YouTube TV subscribers to access ESPN Unlimited as part of their subscription.

However, if you want to spend the least amount of money possible, I recommend getting ESPN Unlimited a la carte rather than getting it through a provider as part of your plan.

In conclusion, if you want to watch WWE PLEs next year, you'll need ESPN Unlimited for 12 months. That's $29.99 a month for an entire year, for a total of $359.88.

WWE Raw

WWE Raw is WWE's premiere weekly show, featuring the professional wrestling promotion's biggest stars every Monday night, live on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET.

While the most casual WWE fan might be satisfied with just PLEs, many pro wrestling aficionados will declare Raw is a must-watch. Having seen Raw live in person myself, I definitely get why. The bouts themselves can be hit or miss, but the theatrics and verbal jousting of Raw is unparalleled.

You'll need Netflix for all 52 weeks of the year to catch every episode of Raw, meaning you'll pay $7.99 a month for 12 months, for a total of $95.88. You can pay more to remove ads from shows and movies, but if all you want is Raw, don't pay extra. Live events are subject to commercials on all Netflix tiers.

WWE Smackdown

OK, here's where things start to get a bit tricky. But if you want to save money, sometimes you need to find all the shortcuts available to you.

If you want to watch WWE SmackDown, you need to tune into USA Network every Friday at 8 p.m. ET. This show is also one of WWE's flagship programs, but frankly, it's a slightly lesser product than Raw these days. WWE fans would consider it essential viewing, but if you're only picking Raw or SmackDown, you're picking Raw.

The cheapest way to watch USA Network is Sling Blue. Sling is a great cable TV alternative, and, more importantly, it lets you sign up for just a day at a time. With Sling Day Pass, you can sign up for Sling Blue every Friday night for just $4.99 per 24 hours, and watch SmackDown live on USA. Even in a month with five Fridays, this would cost just $24.95, far less than any monthly subscription to a live TV streaming service.

To recap, for WWE SmackDown, your best option is to get Sling Blue via a Sling Day Pass. On average, that will run you $21.62 a month, with some months costing a bit more and some costing a bit less, depending on how many Fridays are in a given month. Either way, by the end of the year, you'll spend $259.48 to watch every SmackDown broadcast.

WWE NXT

WWE NXT is where some pro wrestling fans might start to tune out. Unless you're a true mark, you might save your money rather than watch WWE's show that highlights the next generation of potential Raw and SmackDown stars.

However, NXT is actually the cheapest WWE show to watch, because it's the only one that airs on a broadcast network. WWE NXT episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. That means to watch it live, all you need is one of our best antennas, and you can get The CW broadcasts free over the air, provided your antenna can pick up a local CW station. Our pick for the best antenna is the Mohu Gateway Plus, which has a 60-mile range and easily hooks up to your TV.

Once you buy the antenna, NXT is free to watch, provided you're in range of a local CW network station. Otherwise, you can watch NXT free the next day on The CW app.

You could also opt for DirecTV's Entertainment package, which includes ESPN Unlimited, USA Network and The CW for $84.99 a month (plus taxes and fees). I only recommend this, though, if you can't access The CW through an antenna or aren't willing to watch for free the next day, or if you decide you want a cable TV alternative for reasons beyond professional wrestling.

WWE NXT total: $79.99

AEW Pay-per-view events

We've now covered everything from WWE, so let's move on to AEW. This professional wrestling promotion has quickly gone from pesky upstart to full-blown WWE rival, at times even taking some of the latter's biggest stars.

Like WWE, AEW also has premium events throughout the year, though it still uses a pay-per-view model rather than tying these premium events to a streaming service subscription.

However, you still need a streaming service to access these PPV events. Previously, these had been available through Prime Video (no subscription required), but now AEW has struck a deal with HBO Max to offer PPV events at $39.99 per event. Here's the catch, though: You'll need an HBO Max subscription. Any subscription will do, though, for reasons I'll get into shortly, you'll want the Standard plan for $16.99 a month, which comes with the ability to live stream sports.

Here's one important caveat: these PPV events should still be available for purchase through Prime Video. However, they will cost more on Prime Video ($49.99) than on HBO Max ($39.99), according to the research I've done.

Based on past years, I'm projecting 10 AEW PPV events in 2026, which will cost $39.99 each, for a total of $399.90. This doesn't include the cost of an HBO Max subscription, which I'm about to get into when I discuss the best way to watch AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision.

AEW Pay-per-view total: $399.90 (plus cost of HBO Max subscription)

AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision

If you're a true wrestling completionist or you love AEW, then watching AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision is a must. These programs are essentially AEW's equivalent of Raw and SmackDown, though unlike its WWE counterparts, AEW doesn't divide its roster of wrestlers between the two programs.

AEW Dynamite is broadcast live every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET and is simulcast on TBS and HBO Max. Collision is broadcast on Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET and is simulcast on TNT and HBO Max. So if you have HBO Max, you can stream both shows, and, because you want to watch the AEW PPV events, you should already have HBO Max.

I've calculated the total cost to watch every episode of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision in a given year at $203.88, which is 12 months of HBO Max Standard at $16.99 a month.

How much it'll cost

To recap, if you're in the U.S., you'll need ESPN, Netflix, Sling Blue and an antenna to watch WWE Premium Live Events, WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown and WWE NXT, respectively. If you're outside the U.S. many of you will get away with just Netflix, which is the global rights holder for most WWE content outside the U.S.

For AEW, everything you'll want to watch is on HBO Max, including pay-per-view events, Dynamite and Collision. Just remember, you'll need to pay extra for those PPV events.

In total, this will set you back nearly $1,400, an eye-watering amount. But if you're a real mark, hopefully I've at least found you some ways to get your wrestling fix for less.

The previously announced ESPN standalone app finally has a release date: Thursday, August 21. The app, which Disney CEO Bob Iger called the "ESPN Flagship" in May, will offer all of ESPN's cable channels for a hefty $29.99 a month for the "unlimited" plan.

In a press release, communications director Olivia Coryell said that the new app would "introduce a more personalized, dynamic viewing experience for fans." New features included updated multiview, game stats, betting information and more.

There are multiple ways to access ESPN now and here's what it'll cost you:

ESPN has had a busy summer acquiring the rights to air a variety of sporting events, including recent acquisitions of WWE premium events, which are moving over from Peacock.

The sports broadcaster also just acquired Redzone and the NFL Network in a deal that gives the NFL equity in ESPN.

ESPN has long been compromised journalistically since it covers the same sports that it pays to broadcast. This NFL deal further deepens ESPN’s conflict of interest. But if you just want the games and Steven A. Smith to yell at you about sports betting and fantasy sports, perhaps that won't be a big deal.

Other sports in ESPN's coverage include the U.S. Open, international soccer, volleyball, field hockey, women's college soccer, and soon, the WNBA playoffs, PLL playoffs, and NBA and NHL seasons.

WWE is making some significant moves in the streaming space. It wasn't long ago that the wrestling giant moved its flagship show, "Monday Night Raw," to Netflix, leaving the USA Network (although not entirely; the company's Friday show, "Smackdown," is still on USA).

The company has now announced a partnership with ESPN for its Premium Live Events (PLE) starting in 2026. These were previously known as Pay-per-Views (PPV), but now that WWE includes them in its streaming deals, this term is no longer accurate.

The deal is worth an average of $325 million annually for five years, totaling $1.6 billion over the life of the agreement.

Previously, these events aired on Peacock (which also has the WWE back catalog of events).

This is a significant shift for WWE and ESPN, as ESPN has traditionally focused its major events coverage on "real" sports like the NFL, whereas WWE is primarily an entertainment entity (it refers to itself as sports entertainment in many instances).

WWE to ESPN — what this means for you

If you're a Peacock subscriber used to watching WWE programming on the streamer, you're going to need to shift to ESPN's $29.99 per month service (much more expensive than Peacock, which can be had for as little as $10.99).

While it sounds pricey, it's important to remember that it was just a few years ago that WWE events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam and the like were $50 or more each on traditional PPV.

The move officially takes effect in 2026, so don't cancel that Peacock subscription just yet. Survivor Series and the other smaller WWE PLEs are still slated to air there, and the Royal Rumble in January will be the first event to drop on ESPN.

If you enjoy WWE's long pre- and post-shows, those will also stream on ESPN.

The one thing that wasn't mentioned is where WWE's back catalog of past events would end up. Currently on Peacock, WWE has a wealth of older wrestling content available, including its own and promotions it has acquired over the years. Presumably, ESPN also wants this content, but it's not mentioned in the press release.

We've reached out to ESPN and WWE for comment and will update this piece if we hear back.

This comes hot on the heels of Disney (ESPN's parent company) announcing that it's doing away with Hulu to bring things together into the Disney Plus app.

As WWE continues to run through its PLE events, we've now got WWE Money in the Bank 2025 upon us today.

To start with the event's two Money in the Bank matches, the men's match sees Andrade, El Grande Americano, LA Knight, Penta, Seth Rollins, and Solo Sikoa all chasing after the famed MITB briefcase. Going into the PLE, Rollins seems the standout favourite to walk away victorious, but maybe, just maybe, the Visionary's recent beef with Sami Zayn and CM Punk could come back to haunt him. If Seth does not end up winning here, the next most logical shout could be LA Knight (YEAH!), with a Money in the Bank victory something that could propel the Megastar to the next level, particulary in the aftermath of Knight being laid to waste by Rollins and his crew on the SmackDown go-home show.

Where the women's Money in the Bank match is concerned, that could easily steal the show as Alexa Bliss, Giulia, Naomi, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, and Stephanie Vaquer go to war. While Rhea and Alexa are the biggest names in this one, some would say that Naomi and her recent heel turn would benefit the most from a win here. And if not Naomi, recent Raw signee Vaquer might end up getting the rocket strapped to her with a statement win come Saturday... though you can never rule out Mami on the back of an impressive SmackDown outing for the powerhouse Australian.

In the sole title match at WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Lyra Valkyria once again defends her Women's Intercontinental Championship against her long-time mentor, Becky Lynch. With Lynch having come up short against Lyra at WWE Backlash last month, could the Man finally manage to get one over on her former student? Many fans seem to think so, but don't count Valkyria out just yet, with another win over Lynch a way to continue the solid momentum that Lyra's been riding in the past few months.

Rounding out what is a four-match card, we have a huge all-star tag team contest. There, arguably the most popular act in the company, World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso, teams up with his close pal and the poster boy of this era, Cody Rhodes, as they go up against the iconic, legendary, record-setting WWE Champion, John Cena, and the buzz-creating, love-him-or-hate-him social media sensation known as Logan Paul.

While Paul 'Triple H' Levesque tends to usually favor a five-match line-up when it comes to WWE's regular Premium Live Events, WWE Money in the Bank 2025 is a four-bout card. Many had expected MITB to end up as a five-match show, but as of this writing, with SmackDown in the rearview mirror and bell time on the imminent horizon, it looks like Money in the Bank will indeed consist of just four matches. That said, WWE might spring a surprise and throw another match onto the card by the time all is said and done.

Many people view professional wrestling with derision. They call it "fake," "staged" or "scripted" and decry it as inauthentic when compared to mainstream professional sports. But I just went to see my first wrestling ever at Netflix's "WWE Raw" in Atlanta this past Monday (Jan. 27) and after seeing it for myself, I can tell you those people are wrong to hate it.

I'm not alone in this opinion. For as many people that dislike professional wrestling, it also has an incredibly large, devoted fanbase and that was certainly visible to me in person when at the event. American sports teams would kill for the passion of these fans and frankly, their choreographed reactions to each wrestler's performance. It's tough to decide whether it's more like seeing a soccer match in Europe or a midnight showing of "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and frankly, professional wrestling might just be a combination of both.

It's that combination that makes "Raw" a must-watch TV show on Netflix, whether you watch it live on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET or catch up later in the week. In fact, it might be even better to watch from your home than in person.

"WWE Raw" isn't live sports — it's peak soap opera drama with athletes

Let's make one thing clear, wrestling isn't fake. After watching the wrestler Sami Zayn start bleeding from his nose while fighting the wrestler McIntyre, there's no way you could claim that the blood running down his face and onto the floor was fake.

But wrestling is undoubtedly scripted. This is a good thing, because after watching "Raw" it's clear that the WWE scriptwriters know what they're doing. I went into the experience expecting to be checking my phone while waiting for athletic contests battled with chairs, fists and tables. And while I did ultimately get two of those three, by the time the show ended I found myself having been far more invested in the more scripted, soap opera elements of "Raw." When Jay Uso comes out and gets the crowd going wild, or CM Punk announces to Cody Rhodes to expect him in the ring at Wrestlemania, its enthralling drama that's as enjoyable as the best shows on TV.

This brings me to one of two criticisms I have about "Raw," and they're connected. The show clocks in somewhere between two to three hours long and it's just too long. During the scenes of dialogue and monologue, this isn't a huge issue. But some of the fights could use some editing. I get that you can't have someone be pinned down or knocked out right away. But when they kick out of the pin for the ninth time, perhaps it's time to wrap things up.

Ultimately though, I came away thoroughly impressed by just how much the show held my attention. Netflix has a winner on its hands with its new weekly live event.

"Raw" proves Netflix can handle a live show

After watching Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, I was concerned that Netflix wouldn't be able to handle a regular live event like "Raw." In the crowd on Monday though, there were certainly no technical difficulties that I was aware of, and when I checked in on my phone to see the broadcast, it seemed to be fine, just probably 15 seconds delayed from what was happening live.

It seems for its part, that Netflix is aware that the Paul vs. Tyson fight was a low point in terms of its ability to handle large-capacity live events. A Netflix spokesperson said that the streaming giant had optimized its systems ahead of its NFL Christmas games to better handle live events at an "unprecedented scale" and is continuing to work with ISP partners to grow interconnection capacity. While some customers still report some frustrations, the widescale issues reported during the Paul fight haven't cropped up in subsequent live events.

That's good news for wrestling fans, given that Netflix's massive deal with WWE means there will be plenty of live events going forward, including weekly episodes of "Raw." Even better news is that fans won't have to pay-per-view for any of Netflix's WWE events. Netflix has told us that there are "No present plans to pivot from our subscription-based model. We continue to bring more value to our members, as all of our live events are included in all subscription plans; there are no extra costs."

Women's World Champion Liv Morgan defends her title against the one-time face of the Judgment Day, Rhea Ripley, while Finn Balor and Damian Priest finally go one-on-one. For that Morgan vs. Ripley contest, poor Dominik Mysterio finds himself hanging above the ring in a shark cage.

As for the other match on the card, Nia Jax defends her WWE Women's Championship against Bayley. Of course, Bayley was the person Nia defeated for that title back at WWE SummerSlam in August.

Emanating from Atlanta, Georgia's State Farm Arena today, WWE Bad Blood 2024 should be quite the Premium Live Event.

Taking place on the exact same date as the very first Bad Blood all the way back in 1997 - an PPV that saw the monster debut of a certain Kane - Bad Blood 2024 once again has a Hell in a Cell match grabbing all of the attention. Back in '97, it was Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker in the very first ever Hell in a Cell match, and this time it's CM Punk and Drew McIntyre who'll be butting within the ominous cell structure.

Speaking of ominous, anticipation is high for Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns teaming together to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu of the 'new' Bloodline. Can Rhodes and Reigns co-exist, or will these long-time rivals implode against the might of Solo and Fatu?

In terms of title fights on the WWE Bad Blood 2024 card, it's the ladies who take charge on that front. Nia Jax defends the WWE Women's Championship against former champ Bayley, while Liv Morgan puts her Women's World Championship on the line against the ever-imposing Rhea Ripley. Of course, in that Morgan vs. Ripley contest, 'Dirty' Dominik Mysterio will be suspended above the ring in a shark cage.

Hot on the heels of a huge SummerSlam show, WWE last night headed to Berlin, Germany for SmackDown ahead of today's Bash in Berlin - the company's first-ever Premium Live Event to be held in Germany.

From the Uber Arena, Bash in Berlin is headlined by Gunther defending his World Heavyweight Championship against former 14-time World Champion Randy Orton. While he's Austrian, Germany is like a second home for Gunther, with him initially making a name for himself in the country for promotions such as wXw. Much like Ludwig Kaiser on SmackDown, while he's clearly a villainous heel on WWE programming, Gunther will receive a hero's welcome at Bash in Berlin.

In the other big World Title match, Cody Rhodes puts the WWE Undisputed Championship on the line against his long-time friend Kevin Owens. Despite Owens pointing out how his win-loss record doesn't deserve a title shot, the American Nightmare thought differently. Will the pair's friendship still be in place once Bash in Berlin comes to a close, and will Cody Rhodes still be the WWE Undisputed Champion?

Likely even more compelling than those two matches - at least in terms of a wider story - heated rivals CM Punk and Drew McIntyre go to war in a Strap Match. Given the intense nature of this rivalry so far, having a leather strap in play should produce some brutal, bloody results as CM Punk looks to bounce back from his SummerSlam loss to the Scottish Warrior.

As for "heated", Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest seek revenge as they face off against The Judgment Day's Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. For those who may have missed it, SummerSlam saw Dirty Dom screw over Rhea to join forces with Liv Morgan, while Finn Balor later turned on Damian Priest and cost him the World Heavyweight Championship, leading to Ripley and Priest separating from The Judgment Day.

Rounding out the Bash in Berlin card, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are aiming to reclaim the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships from Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn - Fyre and Dawn having taken those titles from Belair and Cargill at Clash at the Castle earlier this summer.

While the U.K. had to wait 30 years for another 'proper' PPV/PLE after WWE SummerSlam '92, 2022's Clash at the Castle proved to be a huge success for the promotion as WWE entirely took over Cardiff, Wales.

Here in 2024, it's Glasgow, Scotland that's the scene of the second-ever Clash at the Castle event, with OVO Hyrdo playing host today to an event headlined by Scottish badass Drew McIntyre facing off with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. Big Drew came up short against Roman Reigns at the last Clash at the Castle, and it remains to be seen whether he'll remedy that by leaving Glasgow with gold once again over his shoulder, especially if CM Punk opts to make an appearance.

Elsewhere, Cody Rhodes - these days the poster boy of the company - runs it back against AJ Styles, picking things up from their WWE Backlash main event where the Phenomenal One was unsuccessful in trying to take Rhodes' WWE Undisputed Championship. However, this rematch goes down under I Quit rules following AJ's faux retirement on WWE SmackDown last month, and that stipulation means P1's OC running buddies, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, are fair game for interference.

In other singles title action, Bayley puts her WWE Women's Championship on the line against Piper Niven, with Piper another Scot guaranteed to get a huge welcome from the Glasgow crowd. She's also guaranteed to have the ever-mischievous Chelsea Green in her corner as Niven - who's from 20 miles down the road from Glasgow - looks to win her first major singles gold in WWE.

For Chad Gable, he gets another shot at the WWE Intercontinental Championship, with the Olympian doing battle with Sami Zayn. Gable is in the middle of the push of his career, with the Alpha Academy man forever a standout of WWE programming since turning heel against Sami earlier in the year. Having previously come up short against both Gunther and Zayn for that Intercontinental Title, could now be the time for Chad Gable to finally get the job done? If so, will that be with the help of his Alpha Academy crew, or could an alliance between Gable and the Creed Brothers now come to the fore?

Rounding out the WWE Clash at the Castle card, it's the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships on the line as Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defend those belts against Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, and the Scottish duo of Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre.

WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024 card and predictions

In the lead-up to King and Queen of the Ring, there has been some incredible action in the early rounds of the tournaments. On the men’s side, recent NXT call-ups Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes had some impressive Quarterfinal matches against Jey Uso and Randy Orton. GUNTHER and Sheamus reignited their rivalry in the first round with an absolute banger. But after three dominant performances, The Ring General has found himself in the finals of the 2024 King of the Ring tournament. He will face off with the winner of Orton vs. Tama Tonga of The Bloodline on Friday night. Considering the absolute savagery we’ve seen from Tonga, Solo Sikoa, and Tonga Loa since Wrestlemania, there’s a chance that the Apex Predator of WWE may not be able to overcome the numbers game, especially since his previous opponents have done a number on his leg. And if he does make it past the former NJPW star, a match with GUNTHER won’t be a walk in the park. The longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time is dominant enough when there’s nothing on the line. But now that a championship match at Summerslam in Cleveland is on the line along with the King and Queen of the Ring crowns, the leader of Imperium is likely more driven than ever to win this tournament. 

Action in the women’s division has been equally on fire. Jade Cargill getting disqualified in her Quarterfinal match against Nia Jax was certainly a bracket breaker. But her fellow WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Bianca Belair has had a tough road as well. After defeating Candice LeRae and Tiffany Stratton, The EST of WWE has to face off against Jax to earn a spot in the finals. Whoever emerges as the victor of that match will have to contend with Lyra Valkyria. The former NXT Women’s Champion had a must-see contest against IYO SKY on Raw in the semifinals. The Genius of the Sky put up quite a fight, but the mythical Irish warrior managed to come out on top. Can she do it again in the face of major adversity in the form of either Belair or Jax? Valkyria found a way to topple Becky Lynch in NXT, so she’s no stranger to insurmountable odds. If she can somehow capture the Queen of the Ring title in Jeddah, that would almost certainly put her in the running for rookie of the year since very few newcomers make such an impact on the main roster in a short amount of time. 

And though the tournament finals are the reason for the season, Smackdown’s singles champions will battle it out to determine the true king of Friday nights. WWE United States Champion Logan Paul is stepping up to the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in an attempt to secure the top prize on the blue brand. Originally, this match was billed as a title for title match, but The Maverick’s lawyers made it clear that only The American Nightmare’s championship would be on the line. Despite taking away Rhodes’ chance to become a Grand Slam Champion, Paul is in for a world of hurt. Probably not as bad as his brother Jake, who will be taking on Mike Tyson in a boxing match in July, but it will still be pretty bad. However, the proprietor of Prime Hydration LLC has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in his relatively new wrestling career. For a part-time celebrity performer, he has proven time and time again that he is committed to professional wrestling and is capable of putting together entertaining matches. Of course, he’s also had some tricks up his sleeves in the form of his goon squad and a set of brass knuckles. But in a show of good faith, Paul relinquished his knucks to Michael Cole at the King and Queen of the Ring kickoff event. Could this lull his opponent into a sense of security? Or will Rhodes see this as the mind game it is? The latter is more likely since his veteran father and brother have definitely taught him better. There’s almost no chance that Cody Rhodes’ championship story ends because of Logan Paul. But at the very least, this match should make for a relatively fun chapter in the book.

WWE Backlash 2024 card and predictions

At Wrestlemania XL, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton were adversaries as they faced off in a triple threat match against Logan Paul for the WWE United States Championship. The Prize Fighter and the Apex Predator showed respect to one another before and during that match. Even after the Showcase of the Immortals came and went, the respect remains between the two grizzled warriors. And that’s a godsend for Owens, who is continuing to have issues with The Bloodline. However, this isn’t the same old Bloodline that he has battled time and time again for the past number of years. Instead, the Tribal Heir has stepped up into a leadership role as Solo Sikoa seems to be calling the shots right now. He even enlisted the aid of Tama Tonga, the son of Haku and a prolific member of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s dominant Bullet Club faction, to stand by his side along with Paul Heyman. This clearly isn’t the same Sikoa we’ve seen in the past year. Though he’s always been explosive and brutal like his uncle Umaga, he hasn’t had the same win-loss record of the multi-time champion. But now his brutality seems to have evolved to a whole new level, so much so that Sikoa and Tonga have left Owens and Jimmy Uso bloody and battered over the past few weeks. Orton and Owens are formidable opponents, but these veterans may have met their matches in this all-new Bloodline. Plus, since this is his first official match in WWE, Solo’s MFT is likely determined to make a statement. What better way to usher in a new era for the Bloodline than with a definitive win over two of the biggest WWE Superstars of all time. And if the win can’t be definitive, there’s a good chance that Solo and Tama may get some help from another family member: “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu, who is rumored to have signed with WWE recently and join his family in the group that also includes Roman Reigns and The Rock.

The Bloodline isn’t the only entity in WWE who is evolving. Since capturing the WWE Women’s Championship from her former stablemate at Wrestlemania, Bayley is on top of the world and the Smackdown women’s division. But with such a stacked locker room, many competitors are lining up to take a shot at the target on the back of the former Damage CTRL leader. And now that she’s flying solo, that may prove to be a problem when the advantageous upstart Tiffany Stratton is determined to cut the line to the top of the blue brand. But in addition to Bayley, former champion Naomi is ready to create some roadblocks for the Buff Barbie on her road to superstardom. It has clearly been Tiffy Time since Stratton stepped foot in a WWE ring only about 3 years ago, but the former gymnast maybe have bitten off more than she can chew this time. As good as she is, Bayley and Naomi are no slouches. Tiffany will be a world champion one day, but that day won’t be when WWE rolls through France this weekend. In fact, it will likely take more than a triple threat match to pry the championship away from Bayley. The Role Model fought tooth and nail to finally stand apart from the other Four Horsewomen of NXT. Then, she overcame the deceit and backstabbing of Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, Kairi Sane, and Asuka. Fueled by the momentum of a Wrestlemania win, this could be the beginning of a career-defining run for Bayley, so it’s very possible that she overcomes the odds once again and retains her championship. 

Finally, another champion concerned with holding onto his title is Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare earned a career-defining moment when he finally toppled Roman Reigns’ record-setting tenure as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and captured the one belt that evaded his whole family throughout their wrestling careers. But now that the Tribal Chief is out of the picture (for now), Rhodes has a new challenger waiting in the wings. Not only that, this is a competitor that the AEW co-founder has never faced before. He will stand toe to toe with the legendary AJ Styles. Both men have had parallel careers. Each of them became main event players outside of WWE. They are two of only four men to hold both the WWE and NWA championships. And they both played rather significant roles in Bullet Club during their tenures in NJPW and Ring of Honor. But during their indy wrestling days, they were like ships passing in the night as Styles signed with WWE right before Rhodes made his way to Japan. Now, the two will compete in a dream match years in the making. While The Phenomenal One has spoken about retirement lately, he is in the best shape of his career right now. As far as first challengers go, Rhodes really pulled a tough one. Although, his unmatched determination is largely what made him go from undesirable to undeniable. Like Bayley, Cody is not going down without a fight. Luckily, AJ has plenty left in him. This could easily be a match of the year contender, but when the dust settles, we’re going to hear AND STILL as Cody Rhodes raises his championship over his head.

WWE WrestleMania 40 card and predictions

With 13 marquee matches on the card, WrestleMania is preparing to deliver the biggest nights of action in WWE history. One might even say that the company is going extra large with their event this year by featuring a little something for everybody thanks to some lucha libre, various multi-person matches, a sure-to-be chaotic ladder match, and much more. 

However, the major headline heading into this year’s WrestleMania is the massive feud between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. It has gotten so big that it managed to engulf a number of other people beyond the American Nightmare and the Tribal Chief, including Reigns’ legendary cousin The Rock and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins. On the first night of action, these four men will clash in a star-studded tag team match to determine whether or not Rhodes and Reigns’ main event match on night two will be contested under Bloodline rules AKA an extremely one-sided No DQ match. Although, if Rollins and Rhodes can pull off a victory against all odds, then the massive rematch will be a fair one-on-one contest (in theory).

This isn’t just about the Son of the Son of a Plumber winning a title from one of the most dominant champions in all of pro wrestling history. If Rhodes can actually pull out a win on the second night of WrestleMania, then he finally finishes his story and wins the one championship that managed to allude his father, the late, great Dusty Rhodes, and his legendary brother Dustin Rhodes. The former AEW executive would also end the record-breaking title run of his opponent, which has lasted just over 1,300 days at this point and is currently the fourth-longest WWE Championship reign of all time.    

Fans have been going back and forth over whether or not Reigns will actually lose the title. On one hand, it would be amazing to see a person of color topple Hulk Hogan’s 1,474-day record. On the other hand, Roman and the Bloodline’s story has overstayed its welcome with many members of the WWE Universe. No matter what happens, it will be a historic night in South Philly when WrestleMania XL is all said and done. 

But considering that one of the points of this article is to provide a prediction, then here it is: After The Bloodline wins on night one, every member of Roman Reigns’ family on the active WWE roster will do everything they can to ensure another victory for the Head of the Table. Possibly maybe even Jey Uso. However, despite all of that, Cody Rhodes finds some way to finally win the big one.

In my heart of hearts, I acknowledge the Tribal Chief and I want to see him break Hogan’s record since no one else is going to come anywhere close for a long, long time. But as a fan of storytelling, so many things are in place right now to tell one hell of a story with the American Nightmare, possibly one that even sees him face off with The Most Electrifying Man In All Of Entertainment  in a one-on-one match at some point in the future.

WWE NXT Stand & Deliver 2024 card and predictions

Just a short walk from Lincoln Financial Field, the home of Wrestlemania XL, NXT Stand & Deliver will take place in the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia on the afternoon of Saturday, April 6th. This arena is home to the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, so it’s no stranger to things getting Gritty. But even the beloved orange mascot may have to cover his big, googly eyes when the NXT roster descends upon his house. In particular, the triple threat match for the NXT North American Championship contains three men who are as big and bad as any Broadstreet Bully. Dijak, Josh Briggs, and reigning champion Oba Femi are imposing figures that could fit right in among the titans from the recent box office smash “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” And hopefully, the crew reinforces the ring because this trio could cause just as much damage as the King of the Monsters and his mighty tag team partner. But when the dust settles, it really feels like this is Dijon’s time to shine. Not only is he bringing brute force and unprecedented agility, especially for a man of his size, but he's also incredibly cerebral. Briggs and Femi have not been in the game as long as their opponent, so Dijak could use their lack of experience to his advantage. If he can dish out his unique brand of justice properly, then Dijak could absolutely walk out of the City of Brotherly Love with the championship around his waist. And when it does happen, it will be a long time coming. 

While Philly’s romantic moniker may look good on a postcard, there will be no love lost between NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria and former champion Roxanne Perez. Once a happy-go-lucky woman of honor, The Prodigy has had a change of heart as of late. Though she is correct in saying that she never technically lost the championship in the first place, she was forced to vacate the title and has not been able to regain it in various opportunities since returning to active competition in early 2023. Now, armed with an attitude that will see her do whatever she has to do to get what she wants, Perez is taking on the dominant Valkyria, who has not only defeated every challenger in her path like Blair Davenport and Lola Vice, but also NXT pioneer, Wrestlemania main eventer, and legendary champion “The Man" Becky Lynch. The Irish warrior overcame every major challenge that she has faced during her reign thus far, but the lifelong wrestling fan from Laredo, Texas may be more driven than she’s ever been since stepping into the WWE Performance Center. Possibly like Bayley before her, Perez might be able to use this new edge to launch her to new heights and maybe even another NXT Women’s Championship run.

Finally, despite being in Philadelphia, brotherly love is most certainly out the window when it comes to Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. The duo have been inseparable since 2021 when the latter made his debut by helping the former attack Duke Hudson in the fall of that year. Since the Trick Melo Gang was introduced to the NXT Universe, there was an electric factor about them. From there, their popularity continued to grow as they racked up victories and championships. However, as Williams started to become as beloved as Hayes, cracks began to seemingly form in the friendship, particularly when Melo was a prime suspect for Trick’s mystery attacker back at NXT Halloween Havoc 2023. While he denied it up and down, it turns out that The A Champion was indeed the perpetrator behind the vicious attack that briefly kept Williams out of the world title picture. Although, now that these former allies are slated to finally collide after a long and tumultuous road, there are no titles on the line. Instead, this is the culmination of a grudge that has been building for years. It’s hard to say how this one could play out because this is the kind of story that could very well continue even when both superstars have moved on to Raw or Smackdown. But when it comes to this chapter of their story, this could be the perfect time for Trick Williams to truly break out and away from his ex-partner in order to ride his own hype train to the next level of his career in NXT. Meanwhile, after getting small tastes of it here and there, the WWE main roster is ready for a brash, cocky, and exciting Carmelo Hayes to captivate arenas across the world. Of course, Williams wouldn’t be too far behind, but this win could propel him to top guy status in NXT for a while. Plus, considering his relationship to Philadelphia and his connection to the Philadelphia Eagles, the pop from that win would be enough to fuel his rise to the top for months.

In 2023, World Wrestling Entertainment saw some of the biggest changes ever in the company’s history. Like the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and Survivor Series, Elimination Chamber is headlined by the match that lends its name to the event. In an Elimination Chamber match, two WWE Superstars start the match in the ring while their four other opponents are locked inside plexiglass pods attached to a domed steel cage and released at regular intervals. When anyone is pinned or submits, they must exit the chamber and the last person standing is declared the winner. 

This year, a victory means a shot at their division’s respective World Champion at Wrestlemania. For the men, they will take on the reigning WWE World Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins. As for the women, either Rhea Ripley or Nia Jax will be waiting for them with the WWE Women’s World Championship. Both fields are stacked as Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Bobby Lashley, LA Knight, Kevin Owens, and current WWE United States Champion Logan Paul will battle it out in one match while Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Raquel Rodriguez make up the other. All 12 of these wrestlers are extremely talented and have what it takes to take on a world champion on the Grandest Stage of Them All. And as much as many fans would love to see The Prizefighter Owens and the recently returned Naomi get a crack at a title this year, it really seems like “The Man” and “The Scottish Warrior” will leave Perth as the winners. 

Elsewhere on the card, Grayson Waller is bringing his explosive talk show The Grayson Waller Effect to his homeland with very special guests Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. The Architect and The American Nightmare have had their hands full lately with Roman Reigns, The Rock, and The Bloodline. Could the Tribal Chief and the People’s Champ have something in store for his Wrestlemania opponent and the World Champion? With it being the first WWE PLE in Australia, we’re almost certainly getting a few surprises and this could certainly be one of them. 

However, one of the biggest surprises could come in the form of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match. The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor are set to defend their titles against British Strong Style’s Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. The Bruiserweight and the Big Strong Boi are no strangers to high-stakes PLEs as they were a part of the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament and they tore the house down at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL at NXT Takeover Chicago in 2017. As someone who was there, I can tell you that Bate and Dunne have an amazing chemistry whether they’re facing together or teaming up. And now that they’ve become even more seasoned since their early WWE careers, there is some great potential for them to have a real banger with Balor and Priest. No matter who wins (and thanks to “Dirty” Dominick Mysterio and JD McDonagh, it very well could be The Prince and Señor Money in the Bank), this tag match could be the one that everyone is talking about the next day. And even if it’s not, the faction should still be standing tall and basking in their glory as native Aussie and dominant Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will surely walk into Optus Stadium to a massive reaction to welcome her home after an extended time away, followed by an even larger uproar when she inevitably defeats her challenger Nia Jax.

If NXT Vengeance Day 2024 were to have an alternate title or a subtitle, it would be “A Tale of Two Tricks.” After displaying main character energy since he first stepped foot in the WWE Performance Center, Trick Williams will be pulling double duty at the upcoming PLE. First, he and Carmelo Hayes will face off against frenemies Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin AKA The Wolf Dogs to determine this year’s winner of the Dusty Cup. The Trick-Melo Gang have had each other’s backs for a long time and they have much more experience as a tag team than their imposing opponents. Though Breakker and Corbin have been impressive as of late, Hayes and Williams are heavily favored to take home the trophy created in honor of wrestling legend, WWE Hall of Famer, and grandfather of NXT “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. 

However, the ballin’ duo have had other issues as of late. After having his New Year’s Evil championship match postponed due to Ilja Dragunov’s health, Williams found himself competing in two of the biggest matches of his career on the same night. According to Hayes, “The Mad Dragon” did this on purpose to play mind games with his opponent. But Dragunov maintains that there’s nothing but respect between himself and his challenger. And on top of all that, the champion is being accused of attacking Williams months ago to delay his challenger’s NXT Title chase. Obviously, things are very stressful for the rising star as he’s being pulled in so many directions. Will all the pressure squash him or will he turn into a diamond and shine? We’ll find out for sure on Sunday, but the entire NXT Universe is in Trick’s corner as he takes on some of the most dominating forces on the roster on the same night.

The wild card here is Hayes. The man known as the A Champion has never been shy about doing what he has to do to get ahead in the game. “Melo Don’t Miss” isn’t just a catchphrase. It’s been a promise since the superstar debuted in NXT and captured title after title. And now that he’s making more waves on the main roster, his star is shining brighter than ever. But does that mean that he’s burning so bright that he’ll burn a long-standing bridge with his best friend if it looks like he’s starting to eclipse him? Surely Hayes isn’t that insecure, right? Again, we’ll have to wait and see how things play out during WWE NXT Vengeance Day 2024. But as the old saying in wrestling goes: “Never say never.”

While the first day of January is widely accepted as the first day of a new year, many cultures around the world have other significant dates that act as the beginning of their calendars. For example, the Chinese New Year takes place during the new moon of the first lunar month each year. The two-day Jewish celebration of Rosh Hashanah, which is Hebrew for “Head of the Year,” occurs in the late summer or early fall.

And for wrestling fans, Wrestlemania is the last major event of their “year” before starting fresh. However, despite WWE Superstars working all year to secure their spot at the Showcase of the Immortals, the annual Royal Rumble event is when they shift into the fast lane and merge onto the Road to Wrestlemania.

This year’s installment of the fan-favorite event emanates from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 27, 2024, and should be filled with surprises. That’s what makes the two titular 30-person over-the-top battle royals so exciting every year. Although, one surprise happened to sneak up a few days prior to the big show. While defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Jinder Mahal, Seth Freakin’ Rollins suffered a Grade 2 MCL tear and a partially torn meniscus. But even though the injury is estimated to keep The Visionary out of action for three to four months, the champion vowed to walk into Wrestlemania XL in Philadelphia as the champion and walk out the same way. 

While this news is extremely devastating on so many levels, the show must go on with or without Rollins. Luckily, the WWE Universe still has a lot to look forward to at this year’s Royal Rumble. And in case you need to know how to tune in to catch all the action, we’ve got you covered.

WWE Royal Rumble 2024 card and predictions

Though the Royal Rumble matches are the main events of the evening, there are two massive title matches on the card this year. First, the social media megastar Logan Paul has an incredibly personal grudge that he hopes to settle with Kevin Owens. During Paul’s first appearance at Wrestlemania in 2021 as a guest, The Prizefighter hit him with a Stunner and laid him out. Following that confrontation, The Maverick learned how to wrestle and stunned audiences by being a natural in the world of sports entertainment. 

Now, after facing the likes of Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns, and Ricochet in stand-out matches that eventually led him to win the United States Championship, the divisive entertainer finally gets to settle old business with Owens. With his title on the line, Paul is certainly determined to bust out another show stopping performance for the WWE Universe. However, hungry to earn a singles belt again for the first time since 2017, KO is more than prepared to throw everything he can at his opponent in order to get him down for a 1-2-3, even if he is on the mend from a broken hand. 

While we’ve come to expect a spectacle whenever Paul steps in the ring, the flashy stuff may not match up to the veteran Owens’ wealth of experience and ability to adapt. Another vicious Stunner looks to be in the future of the reigning and defending US Champ. 

Speaking of a reigning and defending Champion, Roman Reigns has held the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for nearly 1250 days at this point. By hook or by crook, The Tribal Chief has held onto the prestigious title for an unprecedented amount of time in the modern era. But this weekend, Reigns is facing potentially his greatest challenge yet. Though he has defended his title in multi-man matches before, this time The Head of the Table has to contend with two former champions in Randy Orton and AJ Styles, plus the up-and-coming sensation LA Knight. 

And on top of that, the champion doesn’t even need to factor into the decision to lose the title. Although, since there are no disqualifications in Fatal 4-Way matches, this may benefit Reigns and see some trademark interference from The Bloodline. To put it simply, though he’d facing formidable opponents, there’s almost no way that Roman Reigns is losing his championship in the Sunshine State this weekend. Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso, and Paul Heyman will likely see to that. 

Finally, we have the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches. To win, a participant needs to avoid getting thrown over the top rope and outlast 29 other random Superstars. And these competitors don’t necessarily have to be on the active Raw or Smackdown rosters to participate either. Maybe someone from NXT could show up. Or a legend from the past could resurface for another chance at glory. Or someone completely new and unexpected could enter the fray to wreak some havoc. 

That’s what makes these matches so much fun: The element of surprise. Entrance into the match is randomly determined and the longer someone stays in the match, the more likely it is for them to get thrown out by someone who has just entered the ring. And if they do happen to outlast and outsmart the field, then they get to punch their ticket to the main event of Wrestlemania by challenging a champion of their choosing. 

Obviously, the WWE is filled with wrestlers who are more than capable of winning this high-stakes match. On the men’s side, it seems like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are the top picks to emerge victorious. For the women, Bayley and Becky Lynch seem to be the favorites. As capable as all of them are, it really could be anybody’s game. While The American Nightmare and The Second City Saint are each driven to finally achieve their goals of winning the WWE Championship and main eventing Wrestlemania (respectively), GUNTHER has been dominant as both the Intercontinental Champion and the leader of Imperium. He also nearly secured a victory last year from the No. 1 spot before being eliminated by Rhodes. The brutal Austrian will be one to watch in the men’s match. 

Meanwhile, there’s a ton of potential for shocking surprises in the women’s rumble. Both The Man and The Role Model have it in them to pull out victories to get them to the Grandest Stage of Them All, but rumors have been circulating about potential obstacles that stand in their way. Aside from usual suspects from the locker room like Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, or Shotzi who could play spoiler in a variety of ways, rumors have been circulating that the long-awaited WWE debut of Jade Cargill could take place in this year’s Rumble. Former NWA Women’s Champion Kamille and former TNA Knockouts Champion Trinity (aka Naomi) could also pop in as potential surprises depending on their free-agent statuses. 

At the end of the day, no matter who shows up or who wins, the Royal Rumble is probably the most fun event on the WWE calendar every year. It’s unpredictable, chaotic, and usually pretty entertaining, which is why it’s the perfect event to kick off Wrestlemania season.

Netflix has flirted with live sports for a while now, but it just officially committed to making live sports a major part of its core offering.

In a deal announced today, TKO Group Holdings will bring its iconic “WWE Raw” program to the popular streaming service (h/t CNBC). The popular live wrestling TV show will be on Netflix for 10 years starting in 2025, in a deal reportedly valued at five billion dollars (that’s billion — with a “b”!)

That’s not all Netflix is getting out of this genuinely historic deal. In addition to getting the domestic streaming rights to “Raw,” as well as the broadcast rights for the TV show in Canada, the U.K. and Latin America, it’s also going to be the international home for all other WWE wrestling programs. That means Netflix will be the home of “SmackDown,” “NXT,” “WrestleMania,” “SummerSlam” and “Royal Rumble” outside of the U.S.

WWE lays the smack down by bringing ‘Raw’ to Netflix 

Obviously this is a big win for WWE, which now becomes one of the largest sports leagues (for lack of a better term) in the streaming world. By attaching itself to Netflix, it could arguably be the biggest live sports property exclusive to streaming. While other streaming services have deals with leagues from the NFL to the English Premier League, none of those streaming services have the prominence of Netflix. 

That also makes this a big win for Netflix — and possibly a mortal blow to some of its competitors. 

Again, live sports isn’t new to streaming, though most developments in the genre have been recent. Max has the Bleacher Report add-on and Turner Sports, Paramount Plus has CBS Sports, Peacock has NBC Sports and Disney has an entire streaming service — ESPN Plus — devoted to sports. Apple TV Plus and Prime Video even have notable sports offerings between their deals with MLB and MLS in Apple’s case and the NFL and regional sports network Diamond Sports Group in Prime Videos’s case. In short, Netflix is relatively late to the game despite its “The Netflix Cup” golf tournament.

Now though? Now it has a premier live sports offering that is exclusive to its platform in the U.S. 17.5 million unique viewers per year watch “Raw” according to Netflix and the TKO Group. Some of those viewers likely already have a Netflix account, but that’s still likely millions of new subscribers for Netflix. 

‘Raw’ will be a big experiment for fans and subscribers

Of course, it’s not just the companies that need to be considered here. The viewers matter too. On the one hand, if you already have Netflix, this is a win for you. No longer will many of you need the USA Network, or even cable for that matter. Well, as long as you’re okay with just watching “Raw” and not the other WWE offerings.

But if you have access to Netflix’s ad-supported tier, you will get a different experience than those that pay for premium tiers. According to sources, “Raw” will be scripted to satisfy ad-free customers, who will see continued action during commercial breaks. These scenes won’t be important to the outcome, and will be along the lines of “a wrestler in a sustained headlock.” But that does mean that not all consumers will get the same show, which is a major shift for WWE, and Netflix.

Still, this indicates that Netflix won’t be charging more for access to “Raw.” So most likely, fans who already have Netflix will be largely happy with this new partnership.

But when it comes to NXT’s corner of the WWE Universe, the coaches and assorted personnel (including WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels) are always concerned with the future. After all, their roster contains the next breakout stars of Raw, Smackdown, and even Wrestlemania. 

But before the WWE can say goodbye to 2023, a year that came with hard-hitting matches, unforgettable moments, and incredibly unexpected returns that some thought would never happen in a million years, the superstars of NXT are prepared to shine in the final WWE Premium Live Event of the year: NXT Deadline. The second annual PLE emanates from the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut on December 9, 2023. 

And just like the inaugural event last year, the show will feature an Iron Survivor Challenge for both the men’s and women’s divisions. This completely unique match involves five competitors who are attempting to score the most points in 25 minutes. Points are scored when a wrestler earns a pinfall, a submission, or is the victim of a disqualification. After a point is awarded, their opponent goes to the penalty box for 90 seconds and cannot score any points during this period. Whoever emerges from the match with the most points becomes the number one contender to their division’s top championship.

WWE NXT Deadline 2023 card and predictions

Though “Auld Lang Syne” is a typical hymn heard around the world towards the end of the year, professional wrestlers don’t forget about old acquaintances very easily. In fact, feuds can sometimes go on for years and even decades. But in an attempt to squash some beef in NXT, Deadline will feature a number of grudge matches on the card. 

First, after defeating Kiana James in a Devil’s Playground Match at Halloween Havoc, Roxanne Perez still had to deal with her opponent causing trouble for her. James ruined Perez’s chance to become a two-time Iron Survivor by costing The Prodigy her coveted spot in the highly anticipated match. 

With turnabout being fair play, Perez returned the favor. The two continued to be at each other's throats in the weeks that followed until they were given an opportunity to let their frustrations out in a steel cage. Both women have earned NXT gold in the past and have shown time and time again that they’re capable of handling business in the ring. But with Perez exhibiting a mean streak as of late, that may give her the edge in this grueling contest.

As personal as Perez and James’ issues seem to be, it doesn’t get much more personal than everything going on with Carmelo Hayes and Lexis King. The latter is a newcomer to the Black and Gold Brand who openly renounced the legacy of his Hall of Fame-worthy father Brian Pillman in order to forge his own path in the industry. 

After that, he quickly inserted himself into the business of the former NXT Champion and his long-time friend Trick Williams. The duo had been experiencing some growing pains recently as Williams proved his dominance as a singles competitor, but things became exasperated when Trick was attacked and couldn’t compete in a fatal four-way to win an opportunity to face Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc. 

Despite accusations, Melo claimed that he wasn’t the one who attacked his best friend. And upon King’s debut, he stirred the pot by saying that he helped Hayes carry out the attack. In order to prove his innocence and remove the King-sized thorn from his side, Hayes is determined to defeat his Deadline opponent and prove to Williams where his loyalties lie. Although, even though the saying goes “Melo Don’t Miss,” the talented superstar has taken a few big losses lately. Plus, King has definitely taken up residence in his opponent’s head. It’s typically not best to bet against Hayes, but it’s very possible that he could take an L this weekend. And if it gets really bad, the outcome of this match may even affect Williams’ performance in his Iron Survivor Challenge. 

Speaking of really bad, that’s one way to describe the situation surrounding the NXT North American Championship. Originally, Dominik Mysterio of The Judgement Day was set to defend his title against Wes Lee after the challenger defeated three former North American Champions to earn the opportunity. Unfortunately, the Cardiac Kid suffered a back injury that will require surgery and a recovery time of 8-12 months. 

Obviously, this is a devastating development, especially since Lee’s crusade to regain the North American Title from Mysterio has been going on since the summer. As Lee puts his in-ring career on hold to heal up, another fierce competitor is stepping into his spot to give Dirty Dom a run for his money. Now, thanks to WWE Hall of Famer and LWO leader (and Dominik’s father) Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee will take the injured fighter’s place to attempt to dethrone the nefarious champion. But with Dom’s Judgement Day stablemates always lurking, the deck will be stacked against the Master of the 619 and the Future of Lucha Libre, so it’s possible that the younger Mysterio may squeak by with his championship reign intact yet again.

Finally, we can’t talk about NXT Deadline predictions without predicting the winners of the Iron Survivor Challenge matches. Both fields feature some top-tier talent. All ten competitors have incredible potential and have proven on numerous occasions that they can hang with the best that the brand has to offer. 

Any of these wrestlers could put on an excellent match with their respective champion. But in my opinion, it feels like the right time for Tyler Bate and Fallon Henley to step into the spotlight for an extended period of time. Both have worked hard to get where they are today and they’re also no strangers to NXT gold. The Big Strong Boi and the Top Shelf of NXT have come a long way since their WWE debuts and they’re both ready to enter a new phase of their careers. Even though Tiffany Stratton and Trick Williams may be the favorites, Henley and Bate would be most welcome surprises if they can pull off some wins.

Now, the top competitors from across the WWE family enter two rings surrounded by a steel cage for one of the most brutal matches in professional wrestling history. 

This year, two factions claim to sit atop the mountain of WWE: The Judgement Day and Damage CTRL. But their rivals have come together in an attempt to bring them down a peg or two. Plus, there are some highly-anticipated grudge matches featuring the company’s most prestigious championships.

GUNTHER has been dominating WWE since his arrival to the main roster in April 2022. The Ring General has even earned the distinction of being the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time while he spread Imperium’s message of superior pro wrestling. 

But as he touts the mantra of “the mat is sacred,” he has drawn the ire of former WWE Champion and nine-time Intercontinental Champion The Miz. According to GUNTHER, Miz is the antithesis of everything his faction stands for. The star of Miz & Mrs is recognized as a great showman, but not an equally great wrestler. 

However, despite being outmatched in size, strength, and in-ring acumen, Miz is determined to prove yet again that the successes and championship victories he’s earned throughout his career were not a fluke. At this point, it seems like the Awesome One is determined to seize the champion’s respect (and his title) or go down fighting. Unfortunately for Miz, he hasn’t faced a foe as dominant as GUNTHER in quite some time. Though he has a chance at regaining the title, things don’t look like they’ll be going in his favor. 

For the men’s WarGames match this year, it’s all about toppling the Judgment Day. With four of the five members draped in gold, it’s hard to argue that they’re the most dominant group in WWE. But even if they can’t take Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio’s championships away in this match, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn hope to remind the nefarious group that they don’t run things. And when Drew McIntyre joined forces with Rhea Ripley’s boys, The American Nightmare and company called in the big guns by calling in Randy Orton. While it’s been a long time since the Apex Predator has been unleashed on a WWE ring due to injury, he may be just what his team needs to topple their powerful and cunning opponents. 

And though control is something that the Judgment Day seeks, Damage CTRL has that market cornered in the Smackdown women’s locker room. Especially since Bayley’s group added powerhouse members Asuka and the returning Kairi Sane, they’re more powerful than ever. But when a trio of legendary champions and a Ballsy Badass join forces to shift the balance on the blue brand, the team of Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Shotzi, and Becky Lynch hope to (caps) lock in a victory and escape the WarGames cage in one piece. 

However, with Dakota Kai more than likely ready to play a part in the proceedings even though she’s not medically cleared to compete in the match, Damage CTRL will probably take advantage of the numbers game and use it to steal another win.

It’s fitting that Sami Zayn is kicking off the show against JD McDonagh. Due to his recent return to singles competition, thanks to Kevin Owens’ move to Smackdown, the former Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion will have no problem kicking the Irish Ace’s face off with a Helluva Kick. 

Of course, the potential Judgement Day recruit is a fierce competitor in his own right. McDonagh is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and has survived incredible matches against top UK talent such as Tyler Bate, Butch of the Brawling Brutes, and current Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER. While his win-loss record lately doesn’t reflect his in-ring ability, JD is sure to throw everything he can at Sami. Although, it probably won’t be enough against the Underdog from the Underground. 

Speaking of underdogs, Rey Mysterio is probably the biggest underdog in WWE history. Despite that, he has had a legendary career that earned him a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. Now, as the reigning United States Champion, Mysterio defends his title against the classless, arrogant, and disrespectful Logan Paul. The Maverick is looking to finally capture his first championship in WWE after his previous attempt at the Tribal Chief during Crown Jewel 2022 didn’t go according to Paul’s plan. 

But no matter how much the WWE Universe may hate him, he is a natural sports entertainer that can hold his own in the squared circle even though he’s only competed in seven matches including stints in the Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. And since he has no scruples about underhanded tactics, as much as I hate to say it, there’s unfortunately a very good chance that Logan Paul defeats Rey Mysterio for the US Championship this weekend. Let’s just hope that the LWO stays on their toes if they’re in Mysterio’s corner.

While there isn’t a championship up for grabs in John Cena’s match against Solo Sikoa, there is something massive on the line: His confidence. The multi-time world champion has largely been absent from WWE programming for a number of years thanks to his thriving career in Hollywood. But in between appearing in shows such as Peacemaker and movies like Vacation Friends 2, the Doctor of Thuganomics has popped back into the ring on occasion. However, Cena has failed to capture a singles victory since 2018 at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. 

Ahead of his return to the country this year, he has recently expressed doubts about his abilities and has even teased retirement if he can’t get the job done soon. But as the person who lives and breathes the mottos of “Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect” and “Never Give Up,” will Super Cena fly off into the sunset as victorious as his glory days? Or will the Enforcer of the Bloodline play Doomsday to Cena’s Superman and put a devastating end to a heroic career? Based on Solo’s dominance as of late, it’s hard to imagine the Street Champion of the Islands taking an L. But if anyone can do it, John Cena can find a way. If not, we may very well be seeing the legend’s last match in WWE. 

As big as the rest of the matches on the card are, the biggest match on any WWE Premium Live Event right now is the one with Roman Reigns in it. The Head of the Table has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for over 1,150 days. Sure, he may not defend his championship as much as WWE World Champion Seth Rollins or former NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, but every time he does, it’s a spectacle. Hell, every time he makes an appearance is a special event at this point. 

However, a portion of the WWE Universe is fed up with this reign. Included in that contingent is rising star LA Knight. Not only is the self-proclaimed Mega Star walking into a title match against one of the most dominant champions in history, Knight is receiving his first title match of any kind since debuting on the WWE’s main roster. He may have charisma for days and the physicality to back up his big mouth, but there’s still a lot of pressure on the Slim Jim Summerslam Battle Royal winner’s shoulders. Will he rise to the occasion and dethrone Reigns? Or will Knight be forced to acknowledge the Tribal Chief? 

To be fair, some people can do just as much with a loss as they can with a win and Knight is definitely one of those people. As he would say, that’s a fact of life. But is that enough to win the big one on such a grand stage? As much as fans may be in Knight’s corner, they also know that Reigns (and his Wise Man Paul Heyman) aren’t beyond bending the rules to maintain the grasp on the coveted championship. No matter the outcome of this match, there’s a good chance that it will be the one that has the most people talking at the end of the show.

Tonight is when you can watch the WWE Fastlane 2023 live stream, which will see the wrestling outfit bring out some of its biggest guns — including John Cena.

As exciting as this battle in The Bloodline’s ongoing war with WWE could be, few things are more exciting than a surprise. The company recently made a major acquisition by signing Jade Cargill to a WWE contract. Since the inaugural AEW TBS Champion signed on the dotted line, WWE has been making a huge deal over the up-and-coming performer. She has been highlighted on commentary, on social media, and in video packages since the first day that she reported to the WWE Performance Center. And according to the rumor mill, she could be making her first appearance on WWE broadcasting this weekend.
