‘Zero Dark Thirty’

During the investigation, she becomes convinced they are closing in on their target despite uncertainty from others involved. The '80s really were a golden age for cinematic jerks, bullies and bad guys. From jocks and loafer-wearing trust funders mocking the underdogs to downright rotten bullies beating up nerds, they added fire to our heroes' bellies and got us all yelling at the screen.

When I was little I used to stay at my grandparents' house, and raid their carefully indexed library of VHS tapes. And top of my watch list was always "Laybrinth." The 1986 movie featured a tights-wearing David Bowie, a young Jennifer Connelly and a cast of enchanting Jim Henson puppets. I lapped up the magic, the jeopardy and the firm friendships that Sarah (Connelly) builds with the creatures she meets in her quest. Upon rewatching my DVD version, the movie feels distinctly 80s, and I think that's to its credit.

I'm clearly not alone in my love of 1980s classics. Our streaming team's recent op-ed arguing "'Ferris Bueller' is the ultimate '80s feel-good movie" resonated with tens of thousands of readers, and hundreds of you voted on your favorite line from the film. Happy Global Beatles Day! The legacy of Liverpool's iconic fab four continues to thrive, influencing pop culture more than 60 years since Beatlemania first swept the globe.

I can vividly recall my first encounter with The Beatles. In a friend's bedroom, she put the needle to the record, "She Loves Me" sang out, and we both bopped along happily to the tune. When I worked near Abbey Road studios in London, I watched many a tourist holding up traffic to imitate that famous album cover on the zebra crossing. I couldn't possibly comment on whether I may have recreated the pose too! Have you done it?

The 90s kid in me is hopping with excitement for the release of "Toy Story 5" this week, and I just might have spent some (or all) of last weekend re-watching my "Toy Story" movies box set in anticipation. Of course, their tenderness, madcap adventures and wholesome sense of justice still hold up.

But where I'd previously been absorbed by Buzz and Woody's plot lines and iconic one-liners, I realized how much of the movies' fun comes from the supporting characters — from Hamm relishing his role as Evil Dr Porkchop in Andy's games, to Sketch's response to Woody's "Draw" command, to Barbie's ingenious method of distracting Ken at Sunnyside.

"You've got a friend in me" is about all of the toys, not just Woody and Andy, or Woody and Buzz. So in the quiz below I've made the supporting characters' lines the stars. Can you recall which movie each quote is from?

The 2026 FIFA World Cup finally kicks off tomorrow, and I'm so ready for it. I just found out that Gen Z's latest nostalgic obsession is a classic 90s campus favorite, and it's left me a little bemused. Hacky Sacks are back, it seems, and are even selling out in stores across the U.S. For those of us who remember the squishy little beanbags, hearing that high schoolers are embracing them as a hot new 'trend' feels slightly bizarre. You can make use of the helpful buttons along the bottom to help you. ‘Edge Pieces Only’ clears the clutter so you can get those corners and the outer frame perfected first, which is always my preferred system for completing jigsaw puzzles in real life, too. ‘Reveal Puzzle Image’ gives you a sheer version of the final image that you can lay the pieces directly onto. ‘Place Next Piece’ does exactly that, acting as a friend or puzzle partner.

Whether you use those help buttons or not, you’ll see when you’ve placed a piece in the correct position as the number at the top will increase, taking you closer to full marks and a place on the leaderboard.

The newest movie in the franchise, "Jurassic World Rebirth," is riding high at the top of Netflix's movie charts this week. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend, it was a fun and thrilling blockbuster that impressed our reviewer and even won fourth place in our 'Jurassic Park' movie rankings when it hit cinemas last summer.

Netflix dropped this and three other 'Jurassic Park' movies in the past week – "Jurassic World", "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom", and "Jurassic World: Dominion", with all four dominating the top 10 movie chart. But these newer instalments also make us feel nostalgic for the 1993 original movie.

From the cute baby raptor hatching from an egg in the lab to the infamous toilet scene, "Jurassic Park" was a landmark movie that had a huge impact on so many of us (I was six when it came out, and vividly remember squealing in my friend's living room when we first watched it on VHS).
