If you're looking to find what new movies and shows Netflix is adding this week, I've got you covered. The streaming service is adding just 15 new movies, shows and live events this week. That's not necessarily a lot to sort through, but you're still going to want some advice on which select few deserve making it onto your watchlist.

But don't worry, I've got you covered. This week you'll want to check out "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story," the fourth season of the hit historical true crime drama series. Fans of Hawkins, Indiana, meanwhile, are going to want to add "Stranger Things: Tales From '85" season 2 to their watchlist when it arrives this Wednesday.

Aside from these two big names, there are a few other titles worth checking out. "Best of the Best" brings Bollywood to Netflix but with no need for subtitles. "Jo Koy: Blue in the Face" marks the stand-up comedian's sixth hour-long special for Netflix, and hopefully this one is enough to make us forget that time he hosted the Golden Globes. Finally, "Stop! That! Train!" answers the question "What if 'Airplane!' met 'RuPaul's Drag Race'?" and you won't want to miss it.

'Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story'

Genre: Biographical crime drama anthology series

What it's about: "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story" marks the fourth season of the hit anthology series "Monster." This time, we're diving into the life of Lizzie Borden (Ella Beatty). She was famously (or infamously) acquitted of the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. But people are convinced to this day that she's guilty.

Why you should watch it: This is the second edition of "Monster" not to involve show creator Ryan Murphy. It's also the second edition to feature Charlie Hunnam, this time as Lizzie's father, Andrew. Hopefully, things go better this time; "The Ed Gein Story" was not well received, despite Hunnam's performance.

'Stranger Things: Tales From '85' season 2

Genre: Animated sci-fi series

What it's about: "Stranger Things: Tales from '85" is back for another season, and it's still set in Hawkins and full of 80s nostalgia. In fact, it picks up right after the events of the first season. But while the gang of Eleven (Brooklyn Davey Norstedt), Mike (Luca Diaz), Will (Benjamin Plessala), Lucas (Elisha “EJ” Williams), Max (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport), and Nikki (Odessa A’zion) are hoping things will go back to normal, a haunted woods is about to prove things are never normal in Hawkins.

Why you should watch it: This show may have new actors playing them, but it still features the original characters and locations from "Stranger Things." So if you enjoyed the original series, this animated spinoff should be easy to connect with.

'Best of the Best'

Genre: Dance comedy movie

What it's about: "Best of the Best" follows two childhood friends, Maya (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Anjali (Priyanka Kedia), who join UCLA's competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. But once there, they discover that this dance squad is even more cutthroat than getting into college was, and all that matters is winning the U.S. championship.

Why you should watch it: Technically, I don't think this is a Bollywood movie, as my research has led me to believe "Best of the Best" was filmed in New Jersey. But whether you like Bollywood dance numbers or movies like "Mean Girls" and "Bring It On," this movie seems to have something for you.

'Jo Koy: Blue in the Face'

Genre: Stand-up comedy special

What it's about: In "Blue in the Face," comedian Jo Koy returns to Netflix for his sixth special on the streaming service. This time, he's talking about wild dental disasters, getting fired from McDonald's, his veteran stepdad, and, based on this trailer, a dog repeatedly barking in your face.

Why you should watch it: Koy is one of the most popular stand-up comedians touring right now, as evidenced by the fact that he has more Netflix specials than most TV shows get seasons. So if you're looking for a new reason to laugh, this hour of stand-up is worth checking out.

"Stop! That! Train!

Genre: Action comedy disaster movie

What it's about: Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) are two stewardesses looking for work. So they sneak aboard the high-class Glamazonian Express, only to discover it's headed straight for a massive storm, better known as "Stormganza."

Why you should watch it: "Stop! That! Train!" is essentially "Airplane!" meets "RuPaul's Drag Race." And I don't mean that as an insult — it's a selling point. Watch the trailer, try not to laugh, and once you're done, add this movie to your watchlist.

The vibes: Television’s biggest night, with plenty of stars, tearful speeches and jokes about “Heated Rivalry.”
The details: The TV Academy is ready to hand out its little gold trophies, with “The Pitt,” “Hacks,” “Widow’s Bay,” “Pluribus” and “DTF St. Louis” leading a crowded field of contenders. “Law & Order: SVU” icon Mariska Hargitay hosts the ceremony, while recent Creative Arts upsets suggest voters may have a few surprises left in store.

‘RJ Decker’ season 2 (ABC)

The vibes: No better time for a family reunion than a murder investigation.

When a former friend dies under suspicious circumstances, the Chicago private investigator dusts off her Army-honed skills and starts digging into the case. Expect bruising fights, bad people and, naturally, a little help from Reacher (Alan Ritchson).

‘Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story’ (Netflix)

The vibes: Mom, I am an axe murderer.

‘The Traitors: New Blood’ (NBC)

The vibes: Welcome to the castle, normies. Don’t trust anyone.
The plot: Alan Cumming returns to the Scottish Highlands with 22 civilians and a $250,000 prize. Among them: a nurse, astrophysicist, funeral director, lawyer, pilot and personal trainer, none of whom can rely on reality TV experience to survive. A few will secretly become Traitors, while the rest must identify and banish them before they’re picked off.

‘MobLand’ season 2 (Paramount+)

The vibes: “Succession” but much, much bloodier.
The plot: The Harrigans are back, but their criminal empire is falling apart. With Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and Maeve (Helen Mirren) back in the mix, son Kevin (Paddy Considine) has a serious claim to the throne, while Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) tries to keep everyone from killing each other. New rivals, including cartel boss Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer), only make the family feud deadlier.

‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ season 2 (Starz)

The vibes: All’s not fair in love and war and time travel.
The plot: Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) are pulled back toward their warring clans as the 1715 Jacobite Rising erupts, while Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Beauchamp (Hermione Corfield) are separated yet again after trying to return home. Between clan feuds, shifting allegiances and time-travel trouble, happily ever after seems like an impossible dream.

‘Youth’ (HBO)

The vibes: Middle age as one long, horny existential crisis.
The plot: Sharon Horgan’s latest series (following gems like “Catastrophe” and ‘Bad Sisters”) puts her in the lead role as Alex (Sharon Horgan), divorced literary agent trying to keep her life together while raising a troubled teenage son, caring for aging parents and wondering how much time she has left to find love. Her best friend (Sharlene Whyte) tries to play matchmaker, but Alex has her eye on Patrick (Rupert Friend), a charmingly commitment-phobic Scot.
Premiere date: Episodes 1-2 on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. ET

The Sunday scaries are real, but your watchlist doesn’t have to make them worse. If you’re looking for something comforting to ease you into the week ahead, Prime Video added over 100 new movies in September — including a few feel-good gems worth pressing play on. I’ve rounded up three movies that offer plenty of laughs, nostalgia and low-stakes escapism, from a charming old-school sports comedy to a love letter to the magic of movie theaters and one of my favorite early-2000s guilty pleasures.

Whether you want to watch George Clooney get in over his head in a messy love triangle in "Leatherheads," revisit the communal magic of the movies in "Matinee" or spend some time with Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning in "Uptown Girls," these are the kind of movies you can throw on when you need a little pick-me-up before Monday comes 'round.

Matinee (1993)

For a charming reminder of just how special it can be to go to the movies together, look no further than "Matinee," John Goodman's war comedy from the same director as "Gremlins." Goodman leads a terrific ensemble as a shifty B-movie producer who arrives in Florida at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, using spectacle like fake protests outside the theater and schlocky horror to make his latest monster movie, "Mant!," feel like the biggest event of the decade.

Hyped to see it is teenager Gene Loomis (Simon Fenton), whose family just moved to Key West. Though "Matinee" floundered at the box office, it remains one of Dante’s most affectionate films, lovingly satirizing the B-movie genre while celebrating the simple magic of sitting in a theater and losing yourself in a movie. Especially with the threat of nuclear war looming on the horizon. So not all that unlike today.

'Uptown Girls' (2003)

Though critics largely wrote it off when it first hit theaters, "Uptown Girls" has since gained a devoted cult following, cementing its place as an early 2000s classic. It's one of my favorite guilty pleasure watches, and you better believe I was planted in front of the TV anytime it came on cable when I was growing up. Brittany Murphy stars as lovable girl failure Molly Gunn, a spoiled rock star's daughter left broke after her slimy ex Neal (Jesse Spencer) runs off with her inheritance.

Forced to grow up over night, Molly lands a job as a nanny for the most precocious 8-year-old on the planet (Dakota Fanning), whose hard-nose attitude can't quite hide how much she's struggling to keep it together now that her father is in a coma. Though they butt heads at first over wildly different personalities, they both end up growing on each other — just as Neal crash-lands back into Molly's life.

'Leatherheads' (2008)

Hollywood really gave George Clooney free rein to flex his comedic chops in the 2000s, and "Leatherheads" is one of the best examples to come from that era. Clooney directs and stars as Dodge Connelly, a charming football player past his prime trying to save his struggling team from going under in the early days of professional American football.

When Dodge discovers Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski), a handsome young football star and World War I hero, he recruits him in the hopes of drawing bigger crowds. But Carter's squeaky-clean reputation catches the attention of Lexie Littleton (Renée Zellweger), a sharp newspaper reporter investigating whether Carter's heroic war story is actually true. "Leatherheads" is a great pick if you like witty banter, messy love triangles, and Clooney doing what he does best: being a lovable scoundrel.

NFL is back for 2026, and after a clutch of opening games earlier this week, Week 1 gets rolling on Sunday.

An NFC East rivalry with plenty of intrigue. Jayden Daniels enters Year 3 looking to get Washington back on track, while Philadelphia is trying to build around Jalen Hurts after significant offensive changes, including the departure of A.J. Brown.

Packers at Vikings — Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS/Paramount+

The NFC North gets an early test, with Green Bay's Jordan Love facing a Minnesota team that has made a major quarterback change. Kyler Murray is now the Vikings' starter, with Carson Wentz backing him up and J.J. McCarthy currently third on the depth chart.

Watch: Murray's Minnesota debut and whether Green Bay can exploit the Vikings' unsettled QB situation.

Cowboys at Giants — Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock

Sunday Night Football brings one of the NFL's biggest rivalries. Dallas has dominated this matchup recently, but New York enters a new era under head coach John Harbaugh, with second-year QB Jaxson Dart and a revamped defense.

Watch: Dart against a Cowboys defense that will be eager to pressure the young quarterback.

Ravens at Colts — Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS/Paramount+

Baltimore arrives with perennial MVP contender Lamar Jackson, while Indianapolis gets a brutal opening test against one of the AFC's most physical teams. It's a particularly important early measuring stick for the Colts.

Watch: Whether Indianapolis can slow the Ravens' rushing attack and keep Jackson from controlling the game with his legs.

Tyler Perry movies and Netflix go together like peanut butter and jelly, and his latest flicks never fail to shoot to the #1 spot in the Netflix top 10. This week, we got "Why Did I Get Married Again?" — reviving a franchise that's so old, I wouldn't be surprised if many subscribers don't even realize it's a reboot.

If you've already laughed, cried, and prayed through Perry's latest comedy and are looking for some more laughs to keep the good vibe train rolling, you've got your work cut out for you. 'Nonnas' (2025)

In my home, Sunday is for meal prepping. And for some seriously scrumptious vibes, I like to put on something like Vince Vaughn's "Nonnas" in the background while I cook. This dramedy from Stephen Chbosky ("The Perks of Being a Wallflower") has a solid 82% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and is inspired by a heartwarming true story — just the kind of breezy watch to get your week off on the right foot.

Vaugn stars as Joe Scaravella (Vaughn), an Italian-American from Brooklyn who finds himself at a crossroads after losing his mother and grandmother. Navigating life without their gravity feels impossible, and he finds solace in the time-honored family recipes he grew up with. He cooks up a plan to share that feeling with his community, opening up a Staten Island restaurant staffed entirely by feisty Italian grandmothers, lovingly referred to as nonnas, played by Hollywood legends Susan Sarandon, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro, and Lorraine Bracco.

'One of Them Days' (2025)

For some raunchier jokes this weekend, look no further than Keke Palmer and SZA's buddy comedy "One of Them Days." It's one of those movies I return to again and again, and one joke about a tumble-weave never fails to get a laugh. Directed by Lawrence Lamont, it follows two broke besties, Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA), left scrambling to scrounge up rent money after Alyssa's boyfriend Keshawn (Joshua Neal) leaves them high and dry.

With just hours to fork over $1,500 before their landlord kicks them out, the two set out on a madcap quest to score cash by any means necessary — and piss off a major gang banger in the process. While it has plenty of laughs, beneath the chaos and a great cameo by Katt Williams is a genuinely sweet story about showing up for who matters most to you. Palmer and SZA are hilarious together, and if you’re into comedies with a lot of heart, this one’s definitely worth watching.

'A Madea Homecoming' (2023)

I'm pretty sure it's illegal NOT to include at least one Tyler Perry movie on this list, and of the "Madea" entries he's made for Netflix so far, "A Madea Homecoming" is the only one worth watching. Its 73% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes aside, it was also the last "Madea" movie I watched with my mom before she passed, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

AI chatbots are not your doctors. That's the advice out of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress, which has found that in up to a third of cases AI wrongly reassures sleep apnea patients that their symptoms don't require specialist help.

“I think it is concerning that people are turning to AI for diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders," says Dr. Carleara Weiss, Ph.D., MS, RN, and Sleep Science Advisor for Aeroflow Sleep. "AI is not a trained medical professional; therefore, people should not rely on it for advice on sleep apnea treatment or symptoms.”

Symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), including snoring and fatigue, often go overlooked, resulting in under-diagnosis. Left untreated, OSA increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke.

Study finds AI chatbots are wrongly reassuring sleep apnea patients

Research presented at the European Respiratory Society Congress in Barcelona, Spain, found that when presented with sleep apnea symptoms, AI chatbots would at times discourage patients from seeking specialist help.

Obstructive sleep apnea is suspected to affect roughly 1 billion members of the population, yet it's thought that 80% of cases are undiagnosed. Diagnosis relies on referrals, with experts noting that patients tend to underreport their symptoms.

During the study, researchers found that when dealing with cooperative people, chatbots correctly advised finding specialist help.

But when patients pushed back or downplayed their symptoms, the AI model would change course. Instead of suggesting referral, they would offer lifestyle changes. This happened in over a quarter of conversations.

Researchers worry that when chatbots refuse to disagree, it will cause a delay in treatment.

4 signs of sleep apnea you should never ignore

Symptoms of OSA are rarely clean cut.

“Symptoms may look different across the lifespan, such as in children, women during pregnancy, or during the menopausal transition,” explains Dr. Weiss. “Thus, if you have concerns about your sleep, please seek medical advice from a specialist.”

However, there are some common signs that often indicate sleep apnea.

1. Loud snoring

Obstructive sleep apnea is caused by the soft tissue in your throat relaxing and blocking the airway. This results in breathing difficulties and often causes loud, persistent snoring.

If you share a bed, your partner is most likely to pick up on this symptom. If you sleep alone, keep an eye out for a dry mouth, morning headaches, and bad breath — common indicators of snoring.

2. Multiple nighttime awakenings

When the airway is blocked as a result of OSA, it causes oxygen levels to drop. This sends a panic signal to your brain, waking you up. These nighttime awakenings are often brief but they can sometimes result in a significant disturbance to your sleep.

3. Daytime sleepiness

If you go to bed on time, wake up eight hours later and still feel tired, it’s likely your sleep quality is suffering. OSA might be the culprit. Even short disruptions caused by OSA can prevent you from cycling through the sleep stages, meaning you miss out on the restorative sleep you need.

As a result, you spend the next day yawning, struggling to concentrate and feeling irritable.

4. Persistent fatigue

If you're experiencing long-term sleep deprivation with no clear cause, OSA may be the culprit.

“Speak with a healthcare professional and get a referral to a specialist as soon as possible," says Dr. Weiss. "Especially if symptoms such as daytime sleepiness, fatigue, brain fog, and irritability persist for more than 4 weeks, despite attempts to improve sleep.”

Can AI chatbots provide sleep health guidance?

For many, AI has become a tool to answer any question. And Dr. Weiss notes that these powerful systems can have benefits in certain medical settings.

“AI has specific, reliable uses in sleep research and clinical practice when medical, engineering, and computer science professionals with years of experience develop it,” she explains.

That’s not the same as asking Gemini for advice on your snoring. If you want to chat with a bot about your medical queries, Dr. Weiss urges caution.

“These platforms are not developed by sleep researchers; therefore, they lack medical accountability,” she explains.

“Their algorithms were not built to perform medical assessments or interpret nuanced signals of severe symptoms or other complications.”

Dr. Weiss further explains that an AI platform should never be the final word in health.

"The FDA-approved AI for sleep research and clinical treatment does not rule out the need for in-person treatment with a trained provider."

“AI should complement, not replace, medical consultation.”

Apple's major "Surprise and Shine" event is behind us and the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable, is finally official. But there were some omissions based on the rumors, including a lack of smart home devices.

Those devices could still be on the way. Apple typically announces new MacBooks in October, and we could see some other products then as well. Here are the seven new Apple products that we could see next month.

Touchscreen MacBook Ultra with OLED

Apple has already released a surprising number of Mac laptops and desktops this year. We had the MacBook Neo, M5 MacBook Air, and M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pros way back in the spring, plus late refreshes of the Mac mini and Mac Studio.

Next month we're expecting an M6 version of the iMac, which also might get some new colorways, and an M6 MacBook Pro.

But the headliner should be a new MacBook Pro (or Ultra). The big change here should be a new OLED touchscreen display, which would make it the first OLED MacBook.

OLED panels are thinner, so the Ultra should be both slimmer and lighter in both 14- and 16-inch versions. It could be powered by the as-yet-unannounced M6 Pro and M6 Max chipsets. This does mean that we might not see the Ultra until early 2027, as Apple has pushed announcing those chips into the first half of the year.

Unfortunately, all these new features and higher-tier silicon mean that the Ultra could have a starting price around $2,499 for the 14-inch model, up from $2,199 for the current M5 Pro models.

iPad mini with OLED

The iPad Pro has had an OLED display since 2024, but we could finally see an iPad mini with OLED this October. Coincidentally, the mini hasn't received an update since October 2024, when the iPad mini 7 was released.

It will likely get a faster chip, probably the A19, if not the new A20, so it can run Apple Intelligence, especially the new Siri AI. It's not clear from rumors if any other design changes will be made. However, it might be thinner and lighter since the OLED panel is thinner.

We should also see an updated entry-level iPad. As far as we're aware the only update here would be new chips.

Smart Home Devices

We warned before the iPhone event that rumors about Apple's smart home options need to be taken with a grain of salt. For years, leaks and rumor mongers have suggested that Apple is planning to introduce a suite of smart home devices, including a revamped HomePod and an AI-powered Apple TV 4K set-top box.

Rumors suggested that Apple would announce these devices during the iPhone event, which obviously did not come to fruition.

Apple seems to have finally figured out Siri AI with iOS 27. If it releases and works as pitched, we could finally start seeing Apple Home.

HomePod Home hub

Previously, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, long a reporter of the rumored HomePod updates, believed that a new HomePod mini could launch with the iPhones alongside the rumored HomePod Home hub.

However, right before the iPhone event, Gurman cheekily tweeted, "If you don't see the Apple TV, HomePod mini, home display and touch MacBook today, don't worry. It's only September."

Several different iterations of this device have been rumored, including one with a $1,000 robot arm. The most common version involves a wall-mounted touchpad or a HomePod speaker with a touch display about the size of an iPad mini.

This device would have a FaceTime camera for video calls and presence sensors to initiate smart home routines.

HomePod mini 2

A new HomePod mini might also debut, but it might not be as big of an upgrade as the Hub. Most rumors suggest that it will feature a new chip and audio improvements. It will probably get new colors.

The HomePod mini 2 has been on our rumor radar since at least 2023. The current version debuted in 2020, and like the next device, is long overdue for an update.

Apple TV 4K 2026

Like the HomePod series, Apple hasn't released a new version of the Apple TV 4K since 2022. We're long overdue for an upgrade — even if it's only a more powerful chip for stronger performance.

Previously, it was suggested that a new Apple TV could feature the A17 Pro chip, but it's more likely it'll get the new A20 or, to save some money, last year's A19. The device should also get the rumored N2 chip for better Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Outside of chips, the big upgrade would be Siri AI, which could let you connect the Apple TV as a hub for smart devices. One rumor suggested that Apple might release a set-top box with a camera, which would allow for FaceTime calls and gesture-based controls.

However, a rumored refresh of the Apple TV has been making the rounds for multiple years now. I won't believe this one until it actually happens.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been a strong reminder of why Samsung has been able to dominate the foldable phone market for so long. While it's true the company hasn't had a lot of competition, the fresh new form factor of the Fold 8 seems to have reinvigorated the interest in Galaxy foldables — just in time for Apple to jump onto the foldable bandwagon with the iPhone Duo.

The simple fact that this is a foldable iPhone means the Duo has the potential to offer Samsung the first serious competition for several years. The phone hasn't even been released yet, and we've already identified key ways that the iPhone Duo beats the similarly-styled Galaxy Z Fold 8. But what about the other way round?

Samsung has almost a decade of foldable experience, and that shows in the ways its latest release compares to Apple's first attempt. Here are seven ways the Galaxy Z Fold 8 beats the iPhone Duo.

It's lighter and thinner

Rumors suggested that the iPhone Duo would be the thinnest phone Apple has ever built, at 4.5mm (0.17-inches) thick when unfolded. That wasn't the case, and we now know that the iPhone Duo is 5.2mm (0.2 inches) thick — which is slightly less than the 5.6mm iPhone Air.

Meanwhile the Galaxy Z Fold 8 really is 4.5mm thick when it's unfolded, making it one of the thinnest phones you can go out and buy. It's also much lighter than the iPhone Duo, weighing 201 grams (7.09 ounces) to Apple's 254 grams (8.96 ounces). That weight actually makes the Duo one of the heaviest iPhones Apple has ever released.

The difference between the two may not seem like much, it does mean that the Z Fold 8 is likely to be more comfortable to use.

A cheaper price tag

Foldable phones are not cheap, with both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo costing several hundred dollars more than their non-folding counterparts. But when it comes to the actual asking price, Samsung has the edge.

The cheapest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is $1,899, which gets you a model with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. Apple's cheapest iPhone Duo offers the same level of memory and storage, but it costs $1,999 — $100 more.

That price disparity sticks around for the 512GB and 1TB options as well. Samsung charges $2,099 and $2,499, respectively, while Apple's prices are both $100 more at $2,199 and $2,599. Samsung doesn't offer a 2TB storage option; the 2TB Duo comes in at $3,199.

Four app multitasking

Multitasking has never been Apple's strong suit, especially on the iPhone, and it looks like iPhone Duo won't be at quite the same level as the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The Z Fold 8 supports up to four windows at once, as well as floating app windows that can sit wherever you like on screen. This is also possible on Apple's iPads, but iPhone Duo only supports two Split View windows at a time.

Considering one of the benefits of iPhone Duo is the ability to carry an iPad-like device in your pocket, the limited nature of Split View means you're missing out on an important productivity feature other devices have offered for years.

DeX

While desktop modes have slowly started making a comeback on Android phones, Apple has always seen fit to completely ignore them. The Z Fold 8 offers Samsung's DeX desktop mode, while the iPhone Duo lacks any sort of equivalent feature.

The idea behind DeX is that you plug your Galaxy phone into a monitor, at which point the phone loads up a desktop-like UI on the larger screen. That way you can use your phone as a desktop computer, without needing to carry around a laptop or tablet everywhere you go.

It's a fairly niche feature, and it's reliant on having access to a spare display. But it is a way to get more use out of a Z Fold 8, and put all the performance hardware to good use. It's unfortunate that the iPhone Duo is limited to its own display and UI.

Physical SIM slot

Apple has been betting big on eSIMs in recent years, and some regions (including the U.S.) can't use physical SIM cards in newer models of iPhone.

Sadly, while European versions of the iPhone 18 Pro still come with a physical SIM card slot, that won't be the case with iPhone Duo. Apple has confirmed that the phone will be eSIM only all around the world. So no matter where you live, there's zero opportunity to use a physical nano SIM card.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 still supports both eSIM and physical SIM cards, which gives users a lot more choice and flexibility. It's pretty small in the grand scheme of things, but as someone that has to swap phones fairly often, the process of transferring eSIMs to a new device is nowhere near as simple as swapping a physical card between devices.

16GB RAM option

The iPhone Duo comes with 12GB of RAM no matter which storage variant you get. Samsung starts off by offering 12GB on its cheapest models, but those buying the 1TB storage option will actually get an additional 4GB of RAM thrown in — for a total of 16GB.

Why does that matter? It all comes down to why memory prices have been skyrocketing over the past year: AI processing. AI features are heavily reliant on RAM, and generally speaking the more memory that's available, the faster things will run. That's particularly important for on-device AI processing, which is faster and more secure than offloading those tasks to the cloud.

Historically iPhones haven't needed as much RAM as Android phones, on account of the strong links between Apple's hardware and software. But not even Apple can bypass AI's need for memory, and we'll have to wait and see how the Duo (and A20 Pro chipset) performs in AI benchmarking tests before we can say how much better or worse it could have been with more RAM.

8K video recording

The iPhone Duo is no slouch in the camera department, at least not as far as we can tell from the specs and limited hands-on time. While the actual camera hardware looks fairly similar to that of the Z Fold 8 (48MP main lenses compared to 50MP), there is one thing Samsung has a leg up on — ultra-high-resolution video recording.

Like many Samsung flagships, the Z Fold 8 is capable of recording video at 8k resolution at 30 frames per second or 4K resolution at 120fps. Meanwhile, the iPhone Duo is capped at 4K resolution video recording, with frame rates of 120fps on the main camera and 60fps on the ultrawide.

Admittedly, the opportunities to play 8K video are pretty slim for the average phone user — so recording in such high resolution is just a waste of storage space. But it is a key area in which Samsung outpaces Apple, which might be important to you.

"Seohyun and Lee Jun-young deliver sweet and wholesome performances," wrote critic James March of the South China Morning Post, praising the film for its "commendable effort to lift the blindfold on a stigmatised subculture."

'Sweet & Sour'

Based on the novel "Initiation Love" by Kurumi Inui, this sweet 2021 romantic comedy from Lee Gye-byeok delves into that all-too-relatable issue of how to make a long-distance relationship work. '20th Century Girl'

Written and directed by Bang Woo-ri in her feature film debut, this late-'90s-set coming-of-age rom-com revolves around Na Bo-ra (Kim You-jung), a 17-year-old high-schooler who has promised her lovesick best friend Yeon-du (Roh Yoon-seo) that she'll keep close tabs on her pal's crush while the latter girl is in the US for surgery. However, things become complicated when Bo-ra starts tailing the boy and inadvertently falls for him herself.

Also starring Byeon Woo-seok and Park Jung-woo, the charming 2022 title was widely praised by critics for its heart and humor (it has an 86% approval rating), including Variety's Claire Lee, who wrote: "20th Century Girl' does manage to add to the timeworn theme of first love by providing a moving examination of what makes certain moments and certain people unforgettable."

Netflix subscribers can't get enough of Tyler Perry, so I'm not surprised to see his latest "Why Did I Get Married Again?" still in the #1 spot after coming out on September 9. It revives a franchise that's so old, I'm sure some subscribers don't even realize it's a reboot. Most of the original cast of "Why Did I Get Married?" and "Why Did I Get Married Too?" reunite for an Italian wedding — including Diane (Sharon Leal), Sheila (Jill Scott), Troy (Lamman Rucker), and Mike (Richard T. Jones). The only one missing is Janet Jackson's Patricia, replaced by a new character named Roselyn (Taraji P. Henson).

Jasmine (Armani Greer) and Wesley (Everett Osbourne) are a young couple just days away from saying "I do" at a grand destination wedding. Their occasion has older wedding guests reflecting on the highs and lows of their own marriages, but as the less-than-happy couple wrestles with going through with the ceremony, it forces the other couples to take a hard look at their own happily-ever-afters.

'Turning Point: Generation 9/11' (2026)

I'm surprised to see "Turning Point: Generation 9/11" holding strong in the top 10 (and it's actually climbed a few spots since last weekend!) because of everything "Turning Point's" put out, I thought this feature-length documentary was the weakest. To be fair, that bar is pretty damn high. My husband and I regularly return to "Turning Point's" phenomenal docuseries on the Cold War and Vietnam War for their engaging recaps of historical events before our time. The kind of context that makes it easier to wrap your head around the Unprecedented Times our country's in now.

In "Generation 9/11," filmmaker Brian Knappenberger examines how the September 11 attacks still impact everything in our daily lives through interviews with survivors of the attacks and those who lost loved ones in the attacks. It's an emotional watch, to be sure, but if you're looking to dive into the subject on a deeper level, I can't recommend "Turning's Point's" docuseries on 9/11 enough.

'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish' (2022)

I didn't have high hopes for "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" at first, having never seen the original "Puss in Boots." But I'm happy to say this decade-in-the-making sequel is the rare spin-off that surpasses the original, and it's on par with the "Spider-Verse" series with vibrant animation that's a feast for the eyes. "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" feels like a storybook come to life thanks to some clever blending of 3D and 2D animation.

Antonio Banderas returns as the beloved Puss, joined by Salma Hayek as Kitty, along with a new set of fairy-tale characters like Jack Horner (voiced by a hilariously evil John Mulaney), Goldilocks (Florence Pugh), and her Three Bears Crime Family (Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone, and Samson Kayo). Packed with lush-painted backgrounds, stylized fight scenes that really pop, and razer-sharp humor, "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" is the kind of kids' movie you won't mind if your children insist on watching it on repeat.

I've combed through all the new movies on streaming this week to highlight the ones that deserve a spot on your watchlist. Leading the pack this week is "Call My Agent! The Movie" on Netflix, which caps off the fan-favorite show-business satire series with a feature-length send-off. Also premiering on Netflix is the latest Tyler Perry franchise revival, "Why Did I Get Married Again?" for a breezy weekend watch. You can catch "Supergirl" on HBO Max to see if it deserved all the hate it got (spoiler alert: it didn't), or rent the live-action "Moana" on paid video-on-demand platforms if your kiddos are clamoring for it. I'd also like to shout out "Bombshell" on Prime Video, a docu-drama from 2019 with a seriously stacked cast: Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, and Kate McKinnon, who's as hilarious as usual.

So without further ado, let's dive into the best new movies on streaming to watch this weekend.

‘Call My Agent! The Movie’ (Netflix)

One of the most beloved shows to come out of France in recent years, "Call My Agent!" became a defining comfort watch during the pandemic's peak. Now this screwball show-business satire is getting the feature film treatment with "Call My Agent! The Movie" on Netflix. Set five years after the ASK Agency shut down, Andréa (Camille Cottin) has moved behind the camera and is preparing to make her feature debut.

However, just days before filming is set to begin, the loss of her lead actor put the entire production in jeopardy. With the clock ticking, Andréa has no choice but to reunite her old ASK team and pull off a last-minute miracle. Once Andréa's film finally begins shooting, a cascade of bad luck wreaks havoc on the set — and that's when the comedy really hits its stride.

‘Moana' (PVOD)

All of the Disney live-action remakes feel like thinly veiled cash grabs, but "Moana" stunk the worse of it, given that the original only came out a decade ago. Though I suppose the clock was ticking for the Rock to convincingly make an IRL Maui — not that he succeeds, even with the prosthetic bodysuit of muscles doing most of the heavy lifting.

This live-action remake of 2016's animated hit "Moana" has the same story, same songs and even some of the same stars as the original, but like most of these live-action ventures, it fails to capture the same charm. Set on the fictional Polynesian island of Motunui, it stars Catherine Laga'aia as Moana, the curious daughter of the village chief who sets out to find Maui to break an ancient curse and restore the heart of the goddess Te Fiti. Unless your kids are really chomping at the bit for this one, I'd wait a few months and check it out when it finally lands on Disney+ instead.

'Supergirl' (HBO Max)

After bombing at the theaters, "Supergirl" is off to a surprisingly strong start on streaming, debuting as the No. 1 movie on HBO Max this week. Set after 2025's "Superman," it follows Kal-El's cousin, Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock), as she struggles to find her place on Earth. While she takes on the mantle of Supergirl, Kara has a hard time adjusting to life on the planet and spends much of her time drinking and partying her way through the galaxy.

During one particularly wild adventure, she crosses paths with a dangerous space bandit who poisons her beloved dog. Desperate to save him, Kara sets off on a quest to find an antidote with a young woman set on revenge(Eve Ridley) along for the ride in a chaotic, space-faring adventure that feels like "Guardians of the Galaxy" with an edgier tone.

‘Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?’ (Netflix)

Their union inspires the older wedding guests to reflect on the highs and lows of their own marriages, but as they wrestle with going through with the ceremony, it forces the other couples to take a closer look at their own happily-ever-afters.

'Bombshell' (Prime Video)

Inspired by real events and set during the 2016 U.S. presidential election, "Bombshell" follows three women whose allegations against long-time Fox News chairman Roger Ailes ultimately led to his ousting from the network. Charlize Theron leads a stacked cast as political commentator Megyn Kelly alongside Nicole Kidman as veteran journalist Gretchen Carlson and Margot Robbie as Kayla Pospisil, the wide-eyed audience stand-in getting a crash course in the cutthroat world of broadcast news.

Kate McKinnon also kills it as a Fox producer who doesn't mince words, delivering one of the movie's best lines: "What would scare my grandmother or piss off my grandfather — that's a Fox story." Theron and Robbie both earned Oscar nominations for their performances, and it's a shame neither won because the

Apple's take on a foldable phone is finally here in the form of the iPhone Duo. It's a compelling device that gives you a compact 5.4-inch phone and 7.6-inch tablet in one gadget. And there's some pretty cool things you can do with it and its multiple modes.

However, compared to the standard iPhone 18 Pro, the Duo is missing some key features, especially when it comes to the cameras. We've compared the two new devices and identified 5 features the Duo lacks compared to the 18 Pro and Pro Max.

Face ID

In lieu of Face ID, Apple brought back Touch ID for the Duo. It's available on a side button. It's unclear why Apple swapped, since the rival Galaxy Z Fold 8 still has face unlock.

The iPhone 18 Pro models come with Face ID built in, as the high-end iPhone has done since it launched with the iPhone X in 2017.

Telephoto zoom

One of the most noticeable differences, aside from the folding, is that the Duo has only two cameras: a 48MP main and a 48MP ultrawide.

It's missing a telephoto lens. The 18 Pro features a 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. That can be enhanced up to 8x, but at 12MP. Apple claims the Duo has "optical-quality" 2x zoom with the main Fusion camera.

Additionally, the disappearing front camera is only 12MP, compared to the 18MP Center Stage front camera on the iPhone 18 Pro.

Variable aperture

As mentioned, most of the features missing on the Duo are related to the cameras.

One brand-new feature the iPhone 18 Pro models got this year is a new variable aperture system for the main 48MP camera. This provides greater control over the depth of field in your photos and videos, with four values to choose from: f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/4.0.

In our brief hands-on time, we noticed a stark difference in photos that allowed us to use the different aperture settings in a simulated bar setting. This new aperture system allows for more creativity, allowing shooters to do things from freezing motion in a shot, to keeping everything in focus throughout the frame.

Pro controls

Apple introduced new "Pro Controls" with the iPhone 18 Pro models. This not only lets you adjust the aperture settings but also other manual settings, including white balance and shutter speed. You can also monitor exposure levels with an on-screen histogram. Other controls include white balance and shutter speed, both of which can change the look of the shot, especially when paired with the variable aperture.

This feels like a very specific Pro model feature set that might trickle down to base models and the Duo later on.

With that though, the Duo also lacks ProRAW, ProRes RAW, and the ability to capture spatial photos and videos.

Action button

The Action Button was initially introduced to the iPhone lineup with the iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2023. The new-ish side key can be used as a simple mute switch but does a lot more than that. Even the iPhone 17e model features the button.

When it comes to deciding what to watch, it can get overwhelming. Fast. There are so many options out there. Even if you keep it to just the best streaming services, there are dozens of new shows and movies added every day. Lucky for you, it's my job to know exactly what's out there. So I've compiled a TV guide on what to watch tonight.

I've gone through everything from Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, etc. I've scoured the best free streaming services like Tubi. I've even added some movies you might have missed in theaters that are finally available to buy or rent to stream at home.

So let's dive into it. Here are all the new movies and shows (and live events) you can stream tonight (September 11), and where to watch them. For more picks, check out these three Hulu movies to stream this weekend.

'Dark Matter' season 2 (Apple TV)

Genre: Sci-fi thriller series

What it's about: Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) was a collegiate physics professor until a variant of him from another reality came and stole his life. In season 1, he wandered multiple versions of Chicago using a mysterious device called the "Box." Now, in season 2, he's reunited with his wife Daniela (Jennifer Connelly) and son Charlie (Oakes Fegley), but they're on the run through the multiverse, looking for a reality where they can live a quiet life.

Why you should watch it: I'm currently caught up on "Dark Matter" season 2, and I think I prefer it to season 1. Check out our "Dark Matter" season 2 review for a spoiler-free breakdown of what works and doesn't work in this new season.

'Drop' (2025) (Peacock)

Genre: Mystery thriller movie

What's it about? What if you had to kill your date, or your son dies? In "Drop," Meghann Fahy is on the first date she's had since the death of her abusive husband. But partway through the date, she receives a message: kill her date (Brandon Sklenar) or a masked gunman shoots her son.

Why you need to watch it: I love the way the trailer shifts from romance movie to twisted thriller, and it seems like the full-length movie doesn't drop the ball. Critics rated it 83% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences weren't far behind.

'Rich Flu' (2024) (Hulu)

Genre: Thriller movie

What's it about? Laura (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has finally made it in her career, rubbing elbows with the rich and famous. Which is great for her, until people start to drop dead. Now, the less wealthy think that there's a new virus being spread by the elites, and the only way to avoid being killed by the angry mob is to give away your wealth or find somewhere safe to hide.

Why you need to watch it: The premise for "Rich Flu" is intriguing. And I like Winstead. But I won't pretend that reviews for the film have been stellar; they've been quite mixed. Lucky for you, it's now included in your Hulu subscription, so you don't have to pay extra to give it a chance.

Among the big new features Apple revealed with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 were a few that pricked the ears of those with privacy concerns. Apple's Audio Intelligence is a suite of AI-powered features that use the Apple Watch to listen in on what's happening around you, so that Siri can provide more proactive advice, as well as help you remember what it was you just heard.

The most controversial of these features were Siri Recap, which allows your watch to listen in on conversations you have throughout the day, and uses AI to take notes and generate summaries, and Live Rewind, which lets you go back 15 seconds and view a transcript of what was just said.

The idea behind this is that Apple can "jog your memory" on events from your day, and make sure you can stay present in the moment. Naturally there are a lot of people who aren't happy about the idea that someone's Apple Watch could be listening in on conversations without warning.

Apple has anticipated this, and when we spoke to John Ternus, the new Apple CEO, and Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, they revealed their approach to Recap's privacy at length.

"Whenever we do anything, we always do it with an eye towards privacy and security," Ternus said. "It's something we take very seriously and approach very thoughtfully.

On the subject of Siri Recap, Ternus pointed out that it's been possible to record audio and create transcripts of what people have said for a while — both on smartwatches and phones.

Ternus makes it clear that recap does not produce a recording or a transcript, with Jozwiak adding that Apple can't access what doesn't exist. "If we don't have a recording, it means no one else has the recording. It can't get hacked. It can't get delivered to somebody."

It sounds unrealistic, but Jozwiak does confirm that Apple had to develop a whole new chip to make Recap possible in this manner. In the process, he sees it as a feature that allows people to concentrate on what they're doing, while being able to generate "higher level notes" that aren't indiscriminately documenting whatever sensitive information is being said.

"We wanted to do this in a way that people feel comfortable using it, said Ternus. "And people around the user feel comfortable about its existence."

Siri Recap's privacy features

Apple has also posted a sizable explainer discussing all the different privacy features Recap incorporates.

The big privacy feature here is that any audio that the Watch hears is sent to Apple's Secure Enclave on the watch itself or your paired iPhone. Apple claims that it can't be accessed by the user, Apple, apps or even the operating system itself.

The audio also isn't recorded or stored, though the processed data is summarized and formatted by Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Apparently this involves condensed versions of the original conversation that are less than half their length, reducing the contents to the core, rather than a full-length transcript.

While the Private Cloud Compute data is not accessible by Apple or anyone else, it does still mean your data is being processed on the cloud rather than just on your device. Which may be too risky for some of you to agree with.

Other features include a lack of speaker attribution, which means nobody will be directly quoted or attributed to. Siri is also going to censor what it hears, and will automatically omit anything it deems harmful or sensitive. Apple says this includes language promoting self-harm, hate speech, financial data, authentication and personally identifying data and "government-assigned identifiers." So it won't be making a record of your social security number.

Summaries are automatically deleted after seven days unless you save them to the Siri app. Like all Siri data, those saved summaries can then be deleted from all synced devices at any time — though you can also export them to other apps, including Apple Notes. Syncing is also encrypted and done via iCloud, meaning only your own trusted devices can access those summaries.

Recaps aren't running all the time, and you do need to opt in to actually set them up. How they record depends on you, with Apple promising you can set up a schedule or manually toggle it on and off in the Control Center.

Because it's an AI feature, Apple has the usual caveat explaining that the summaries aren't going to be 100% accurate all the time. That doesn't fill me with a whole lot of confidence, especially after the fiasco with Apple News summaries that had to be recalled from iOS.

Live Rewind

If you've ever been pulled in two directions at once, you've inevitably had to ask "what did you just say?" to someone. Live Rewind is meant to help jog your short-short-term memory, by displaying a text snippet of the last 15 seconds of conversation when you double-press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch.

To address privacy concerns around this feature, Apple says that these text snippets "disappear permanently from your Apple Watch approximately 30 seconds after the Apple Watch display dims," unless you purposely save them.

This doesn't fix everything

Apple suggests that people "be mindful" of everyone around them, especially if there are sensitive conversations happening. Though that may be giving people too much credit.

There are plenty of people out there that are considerate of other people's thoughts and opinions, but there are also plenty who aren't. They either forget recap is running, or straight up do not care that other people may not like it.

Admittedly, both Ternus and Jozwiak have a point: there are features that offer this sort of thing without any emphasis on privacy. Then again, it is more likely that people take issue with the implied always-listening approach Recap takes. I personally feel it would make a lot more sense to restrict it to manual control.

Whichever way you look at it, though, I guess it's still a better option than seeing people pull out their phones to video every little unusual thing they come across.

Donning a pair of AR glasses lets you carry a massive virtual screen anywhere you go, and after trying the new RayNeo GT Max, I could easily see myself wearing them for hours.

I’ve been wearing a pair of the best smart glasses from both Xreal and Viture while traveling and at home for almost a year now. Doing so has made a huge difference, as I no longer need to haul a portable monitor around when I want a larger display. However, after wearing them for hours at a time, comfort always becomes an issue.

After trying RayNeo’s new GT Max AR glasses at IFA 2026, I was completely taken aback by just how comfortable they were. At 78 grams, they’re not the lightest on paper — the Viture Pro 2 at 63 grams still wins there — but by ditching the traditional birdbath optical design, they don’t feel front-heavy on your face at all.

Here’s what it was like trying out the RayNeo GT Max, and why they might be the perfect display glasses for long sessions.

Curved in all the right places

With a launch price of $399, the RayNeo GT Max are somewhat more expensive than budget options like the $299 Viture Pro 2 or the $299 Xreal XBX a01, but you’re getting a lot of premium features you often have to pay extra for.

For instance, you get built-in three Degrees of Freedom thanks to their dedicated Zone 360 3DoF Chip. As such, the glasses track rotational movement like pitch (tilting up and down), yaw (swiveling left and right), and roll (tilting side to side). This lets you pin the GT Max’s screen in place or set it to follow your line of sight as you move around. There’s also a Steady mode that follows you with a slight delay, which I found to be much more comfortable — especially if you’re prone to motion sickness while wearing one of the best VR headsets.

Just like with other AR glasses, you get built-in audio on the GT Max. Tuned by Bang & Olufsen, the four-speaker system delivered great sound during my time wearing them. However, RayNeo also includes Whisper Mode 2.0 for low-volume private listening. There’s even an optional accessory called Sound Tubes that clip onto the frame to focus the audio straight toward your ears for a more private, headphone-like experience.

While you have dedicated volume and brightness controls on the left temple arm, there’s an orange Mode Button on the right to toggle between spatial tracking modes. Switching between them was fast, and I really liked how clean all of the on-screen menus looked.

One major element that sets the RayNeo GT Max apart from the competition is its wider field of view. While the Viture Pro 2 and Xreal XBX cap out at 50 degrees, the GT Max pushes all the way up to 59 degrees. Just like their balanced weight distribution, this comes down to their prism architecture. While birdbath optics beam light down off an angled mirror into your eye, prism optics pass light through a solid, thin piece of glass that sits flush against the frame.

I’ll admit that the optics on the GT Max looked a bit different to me at first, given that all the AR glasses I’ve tried up until now use birdbath setups. However, once I had them on my face and was watching a movie, everything clicked. I didn’t feel the frame weighing down on the bridge of my nose, and they were light enough that I could easily see myself wearing them for long stretches. Of course, I’ll need to get a pair in for testing at home to see how they perform beyond a brief run on the IFA show floor.

Peering through a prism

When it comes to AR glasses — or more accurately, display glasses — we’re still very early on in their evolution. In fact, this current wave of consumer-focused glasses didn’t really start hitting the mainstream until around 2022. In the brief time since, we’ve seen dramatically thinner and lighter designs, wider fields of view, and more recently, onboard spatial tracking powered by dedicated chips inside their frames.

The RayNeo GT Max feels like a standout entry point for anyone looking to get into display glasses. While they are a bit more expensive than some of the other recent budget options, you’re getting a stack of premium features that genuinely elevate the day-to-day experience.

At the end of the day, if you want to use a pair of glasses like these for more than just watching a movie on a long flight, comfort is king. Having used both the original Viture Pro glasses and the upgraded Pro 2s, shaving off extra weight makes a world of difference. Yet compared to the GT Max, I was genuinely impressed by how RayNeo’s glasses managed to feel lighter on my face despite technically being heavier on paper.

If you haven't tried a pair of AR glasses yet, there’s never been a better time to dive in now that we have both solid budget choices and feature-packed premium models to pick from. The RayNeo GT Max hits that sweet spot between capability and everyday wearability, and I can’t wait to spend more time testing them out beyond the show floor.

Apple made a bunch of grandiose claims about the battery upgrades in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but stopped short of revealing how large the new batteries actually are. That's pretty typical for Apple, though new European Union (EU) regulations may have just helped reveal the answer.

All phones that go on sale with the EU need to have publicly accessible Energy Labels. These labels list key details about the phone including IP ratings, drop test performance, repairability, energy performance and battery specs. That information also includes battery capacity.

According to the listings iPhone 18 Pro will have a 4,056 mAh battery, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max will offer 5,391 mAh capacity in the EU and other related regions. These devices likely all come with physical SIM card slots, since European iPhone owners aren't yet forced to use eSIMs the way they are in places like the U.S.

This is important because it means the North American models may actually offer slightly larger batteries. That trend started with the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, and considering the design hasn't changed that much, we're expecting it to happen again this year. But for now, let's examine the changes in battery size as if everyone is getting the same thing — SIM slot or not.

The EU iPhone 18 Pro actually has a smaller battery than the eSIM-only iPhone 17 Pro, with a difference of almost 5%. However it is slightly higher than the nano-SIM 17 Pro variant, with 1.44% more battery capacity. If we extrapolate that change, we estimate that the eSIM-only 18 Pro could have roughly 4,313 mAh of capacity.

The nano SIM iPhone 18 Pro Max's battery is 5.78% larger than that of the eSIM iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a whopping 11.12% larger than the battery on the nano SIM iPhone 17 Pro Max. Again if there's a similar size difference between the two eSIM variants, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could have as much as 5,653 mAh of battery capacity — which is absurd when you consider Apple typically offers much smaller batteries than its rivals.

Of course we don't know for sure whether the new batteries will be that size, on account of the U.S. not having the same regulatory requirements as the EU. So unless Apple makes the uncharacteristic decision to reveal all the nitty-gritty specs of the new iPhones, we're going to have to wait for teardowns following the September 18 release date.

As for the iPhone Duo, we're just going to have to wait a little longer. Since it won't be released until October 23, we're going to have to wait a few months before these sort of regulatory filings are made available to the public.

Fall is approaching, and that guarantees one thing: New movies and TV shows are dropping like ripe apples. So, there's plenty to watch this weekend on Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock and the rest of the best streaming services.

As Tom’s Guide’s streaming editor, I watch TV and movies for a living, and I’ve done the hard part for you: sorting through this week’s new arrivals and ranking them by what's actually worth your time. Making the list is season 2 of “The Paper,” with “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” back for a fifth season and Jason Statham's high-seas thriller “Mutiny” making waves. There’s also the live-action “Moana” for some tropical adventures and “One Night Only Movie” for rom-com escapism.

Whatever your mood, this weekend’s lineup has something for everybody. Here’s my watchlist, ranked from "must see" to "maybe later."

1. ‘The Paper’ season 2 (Peacock)

Genre: Workplace comedy
Available now: 10 episodes (about 25 min each)
What it's about: The Toledo Truth Teller is riding high after its Ohio Journalism Awards sweep, but editor-in-chief Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) has bigger ambitions. There’s also the small matter of his secret romance with reporter Mare Pritti (Chelsea Frei), which could become the newsroom’s juiciest story yet.
Why it’s worth your time: "The Paper" has figured out its own, unique place in "The Office" universe. Season 2 brings back the wonderfully oddball newsroom ensemble for more questionable reporting decisions, workplace scheming and romantic entanglements.
Where to stream: Peacock

2. ‘Call My Agent! The Movie’ (Netflix)

Genre: Comedy-drama
Runtime: 1h 59m
What it's about: Five years after the ASK talent agency imploded, Andréa Martel (Camille Cottin) is directing her first feature when her leading man drops out days before filming. She turns to former colleague Noémie (Laure Calamy), now a producer, and reunites the old ASK gang to save the project. They’ll have to battle celebrity egos, professional betrayals, a custody battle and enough on-set disasters to turn anybody off of showbiz.
Why it's worth your time: It’s rare for a beloved TV show to yield a movie that doesn’t feel like a desperate reunion, yet “Call My Agent” pulls it off. Cottin and Calamy remain the heart of the story, despite the parade of celebrity cameos — including George Clooney and Eva Longoria. Beneath the delicious industry satire is a surprisingly tender love letter to filmmaking and the people behind it.

3. ‘Saturday Night Live UK’ season 2 (Peacock)

Genre: Live sketch comedy
Premiere date: Episode 1 on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET
What it's about: "SNL UK" returns for a second season, bringing its live, anything-can-happen format back to Saturday nights (and Sunday afternoons in the U.S.) The 11 returning cast members will tackle the week’s news and pop culture through topical sketches, musical performances and a distinctly British take on "Weekend Update," with a different celebrity host and musical guest each week.
Why it's worth your time: The first season had the difficult task of proving that Britain could do "SNL" without simply cosplaying as America. The cast pulled it off by developing its own rhythms, characters and comic chemistry.

4. ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ season 5 (Hulu)

Genre: Reality TV docu-soap
Available now: 5 episodes (about 45 min each)
What it's about: Taylor Frankie Paul’s canceled "Bachelorette" season may never see the light of day, but "Mormon Wives" is filling in some of the blanks. Season 5 picks up around Taylor’s relationship drama with Dakota Mortensen, while the rest of #MomTok grapples with shifting loyalties, fractured friendships and the increasingly inconvenient problem of everyone being very famous.
Why it's worth your time: For anyone who thought "Mormon Wives" had already exhausted its supply of interpersonal implosions — ha! This short five-episode season is a compressed, but still explosive dose of Taylor fallout, cast feuds and MomTok infighting.

5. ‘Mutiny’ (digital)

Genre: Action thriller
Runtime: 1h 35m
What it's about: When his billionaire boss is murdered and he’s framed for the crime, former cop-turned-bodyguard Cole Reed (Jason Statham) goes on the run, stowing away aboard a cargo ship. Bad move for the ship’s crew, because Cole soon discovers they’re running a human-trafficking operation. Now he has to clear his name, rescue the victims and take out a small army of very unlucky goons.
Why it's worth your time: Let’s be honest — you’re not watching a Jason Statham movie for the intricacies of its plot. You’re here to watch Jason Statham break things, shoot people and run like the devil. Think “Die Hard” on a boat.

6. ‘One Night Only’ (digital)

Genre: Romantic comedy
Runtime: 1h 42m
What it's about: It’s “The Purge” but for sex (whoever came up with that title, “The Urge” was right there.) The premise: There’s one night a year when premarital sex is legal, and Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner are two attractive, single New Yorkers who want something more than a glorified hookup. Yes, this raises approximately 47,000 logistical questions; don't expect realistic answers.
Why it's worth your time: Hollywood is drowning in sequels, spinoffs and IP extensions, so an original rom-com feels almost revolutionary — even if it’s stupidly silly. Sometimes, that’s all you want from a movie night.
Where to stream: Prime Video (with purchase)

7. ‘Last Seen’ (Apple TV)

Genre: Mystery thriller
Available now: Episodes 1-2 (about 47 min each)
What it’s about: Eleven years after his young daughter Maggie disappears, former detective Ian Ridley (Patrick Brammall) is working as an emergency dispatcher and stubbornly refusing to believe she’s gone. Then a frantic call comes in from a teenage girl Ian is convinced is Maggie. Cue grief, obsession and some extremely questionable decisions.
Why it’s worth your time: Missing-child thrillers are hardly in short supply, but "Last Seen" gives the familiar setup a bit of a telecom twist. If you like your mysteries slow-burning and psychologically messy, pick up the phone.

8. ‘Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?’ (Netflix)

Genre: Comedy-drama
Runtime: 1h 49m
What it's about: Nothing says “happy couple” quite like inviting your parents and all their messy group of friends to your destination wedding. Catherine Laga’aia plays the fearless teen islander who sails beyond the reef to save her home from a curse, teaming up with the egotistical demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) to return the stolen heart of the goddess Te Fiti. The songs are the same, the plot is mostly the same and even the jokes sound very familiar.
Why it's worth your time: Look, did Disney need a live-action remake of a movie that came out 10 years ago? No. Is the original superior in every way? Yes. Still, newcomer Laga’aia is charming, the tropical visuals are gorgeous and the songs still absolutely slap.

10. ‘Crew Girl’ (Netflix)

Genre: Teen drama
Available now: 8 episodes (about 44 minutes each)
What it's about: After a family scandal blows up her life, teenage rowing prodigy Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau) lands at an elite East Coast prep school hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers there’s no girls’ crew, so she becomes coxswain for the school’s deeply dysfunctional boys’ team. Now she has to wrangle the boat, her complicated home life and two handsome teammates.
Why it's worth your time: If you like your coming-of-age dramas with a side of aggressively competitive sports, "Crew Girl" has your seat reserved. It’s got the requisite prep-school privilege, romantic rivalries and family angst, sort of like "The O.C." with oars.

The launch of iPhone Duo is a big deal. This is the first ever foldable developed by Apple, and for that reason alone it has the chance to dethrone Samsung as the king of the foldable phone space. But it also helps that Apple has produced a phone with a lot of great qualities, and will naturally lead to comparisons with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The two phones are similar in a bunch of ways, including their wider, passport-inspired design. However, there are a number of key ways Apple has improved on the foldable design, and beaten Samsung at its own game. Considering this is Apple's first foldable, that might just make the extended development time worth it. Here are seven ways iPhone Duo actually beats the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

IP68 rating

Google proved that a foldable could get an IP68 water and dust resistance rating with last year's Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This means that, despite all the moving parts around the hinge, Google was able to seal the phone up and ensure dust and other foreign particles can't get inside. Apple continued that trend by also sealing the iPhone Duo up to the same IP68 standard.

Meanwhile the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is only rated to IP48. The 8 means that it's water-tight, capable of being submerged in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes — just like Google and Apple. However, the 4 means that the Z Fold 8 offers no protection against dust, or any other particles larger than one millimeter (0.04 inches).

In other words, there's a whole bunch of nasty stuff that could get inside the Z Fold 8 and cause problems — and you might not even realize it. In other words, you should be able to take the iPhone Duo to the beach.

Apple Pencil support

Samsung used to sell foldables that supported the S Pen stylus, but the last one to be released was 2024's Galaxy Z Fold 6. From the Z Fold 7 onwards, Samsung stripped out the S Pen functionality, removing a critical part of the display makeup in order to reduce the phone's thickness. This means that the Z Fold 8 does not support any kind of active stylus.

Meanwhile, the iPhone Duo not only offers stylus support, it's compatible with the Apple Pencil USB-C — which works with the majority of iPads still on sale. Samsung needed a special kind of S Pen for the foldable screen, but the iPhone Duo uses a stylus that you may already have.

It's the most basic Apple stylus on sale, and it lacks key features you'll find on the Apple Pencil Pro, but it's better than nothing.

MagSafe

Magnetic wireless charging is a rarity, in part because Apple had a stranglehold on it for so long. While Qi2 wireless charging does allow phones to add a MagSafe-style magnetic ring, Samsung has avoided doing this — preferring to utilize special magnetic cases instead. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is no exception to this trend, despite offering all the other benefits of Qi2 charging.

Apple had no such issue adding MagSafe to the iPhone Duo, as it's done with virtually every iPhone released since the iPhone 12. Plus, despite the phone's unique shape and size, Apple confirmed that it is compatible with MagSafe accessories and chargers — meaning all your old MagSafe products should still fit.

Faster 60W charging

MagSafe isn't the only way iPhone Duo beats Z Fold 8 in the charging department. Apple's foldable also offers faster charging speeds, regardless of whether you use MagSafe or a plug-in charging cable.

Wired charging supports up to 60W speeds, which regains 50% charge in just 15 minutes. Meanwhile, wireless charging is capped at 25W. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 offers 45W wired charging, and can regain 43% in 15 minutes. Wireless charging is also slightly slower at 20W, which puts it at a slight disadvantage to the iPhone.

Better front-facing camera hardware

Like the S Pen, Samsung used to offer an under-display camera on Galaxy Z Fold phones — and it hasn't been seen since the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The quality was not great, and it was no surprise that later Z folds switched back to the hole-punch camera design. Apple is giving under-display camera tech another chance at the limelight.

Apple hasn't specified the quality of this camera, noting that it's designed for use with FaceTime and other video calling software rather than selfies. That suggests the quality isn't great. But at least Apple is willing to try new things with the Duo, rather than reusing the same lackluster selfie camera hardware for multiple years in a row.

Plus, the iPhone Duo's actual selfie camera, which is in the cover display, offers higher resolution than Samsung. We're talking 12MP compared to 10MP, and while resolution doesn't automatically mean quality, it's likely that this is a similar selfie camera to the one in iPhone 17 Pro Max — which I found to take better photos than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

iPhone Duo software reacts based on folded hinge state

A lot of Samsung phones offer what the company calls "Flex Mode," which allows the phone to react and adapt depending on the angle of the central hinge. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the first Galaxy foldable to ditch this feature, despite the fact it's available on the Ultra model. This reduces the functionality of the phone somewhat, especially compared to iPhone Duo.

Apple doesn't have a special name for this feature, but the Duo does react depending on the angle of the hinge and the state of the fold itself. So if you have Netflix running, folding the screen to a 90-degree angle will shift the video to one side of the screen, and media controls to the other.

Vapor chamber cooling

The iPhone Duo offers an A20 Pro chipset with vapor chamber cooling, which helps dissipate heat. This means that the iPhone should offer better sustained performance, especially when doing resource-heavy tasks like gaming, multitasking and AI processing.

We haven't done any performance or thermal testing on the iPhone Duo just yet, so we don't know how effective the vapor chamber will be. That said, the Fold 8 doesn't offer a vapor chamber at all.

'13 Assassins' (2010)

If you've never seen a Takashi Miike movie, this is a great one to start with. Set in the dying days of feudal Japan, "13 Assassins" follows a veteran samurai with an impossible mission: assassinate a sadistic young lord, the shogun's own half-brother, before his cruelty ends up ruining the country. He recruits a dozen men for what everyone understands is a suicide run, and the film patiently builds toward one of the most impressive action sequences ever committed to film. It's a nearly 45-minute battle where the 13 take on an army of more than 200 in a booby-trapped village.

If you love samurai movies, know that this one is every bit as good as the classics it's descended from. If you love Kurosawa, you'll enjoy "13 Assassins." And if you're unfamiliar, this is a good place to starting learning all about the samurai flicks that came before.

'Child 44' (2015)

Tom Hardy is Leo Demidov, a secret police officer in Stalin's Soviet Union whose life falls apart when he refuses to denounce his own wife. He then stumbles onto a string of child murders the state refuses to acknowledge. Exiled from his home and far out of town, Leo hunts down the killer anyway alongside a wary general played by Gary Oldman.

Based on Tom Rob Smith's bestselling novel and stacked with talent like Noomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman, this bleak thriller is a heavy but entertaining watch that'll keep you on the edge of your seat.

'Mortal' (2020)

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are finally here. Surprisingly, there is still information we don't know yet, including battery size (something Apple doesn't share) and how much better the A20 Pro chipset is compared to the A19 series.

Two different leaks may have given us some of that information. The first is a new Geekbench listing that appears to show how the A20 Pro works in the iPhone 18 Pro spotted by X user never_released.

If the results from this listing are typical, the single core of 4,719 and a multi-core 12,677 show that the A20 is about 25% faster than the A19 silicon. In its press release, Apple claims the A20 Pro has 50% more memory bandwidth and 40% faster than the A19 Pro.

It's not quite 40% better, but the A20 Pro is still a significantly more powerful chip. In fact, I looked at our testing for the M5 chip, and it compares very favorably to Apple's M5 chipset.

We've argued before and the A20 Pro seems to prove it, there is no reason Apple couldn't run its laptops on its own phone chips. The proof is in the MacBook Neo, but things could get even more powerful.

Now, this is all said with the caveat that Geekbench listings can be faked, and we have the iPhone 18 Pro in hand right now. We're sending the new iPhones to our testing lab where we'll put the phones through our own series of tests.

A battery downgrade?

Some of the imagery and press releases from Apple claimed that the battery in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max is larger than the one in the iPhone 17 Pro models. It's hard to prove because Apple doesn't list battery size in its technical specifications, at least in the US.

In the EU, the company does list the capacity. MacRumors spotted the capacities for the SIM tray versions of the iPhone 18 Pro.

• iPhone 18 Pro: 4,056 mAh
• iPhone 17 Pro: 4,252 mAh
• iPhone 18 Pro Max: 5,391 mAh
• iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5,088 mAh

Based on those numbers, that's a 1.7% increase for the Pro and almost a 12% increase for the Pro Max.

I've seen comparisons to the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro, which has a larger capacity compared to the SIM version. The eSIM iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 4,252 mAh battery that is bigger than the physical SIM version.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro has the same 5,088 mAh in the eSIM version.

That all said, even if the battery is slightly smaller or only a bit bigger, the gains in battery life will likely come from the new A20 chipset and its expected performance and efficiency upgrades.

From what we can tell, the eSIM capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro models have not been released yet.

Top AI companies have spent plenty of time warning that models could make it easier for someone to develop a biological weapon. Now, Anthropic says it actually had to cut off a group of researchers after their behavior raised alarms.

According to "The New York Times", Anthropic blocked several users this year after spotting activity that looked suspiciously close to bioweapons research.

To be clear: Anthropic doesn't actually know if these researchers were trying to develop a deadly pathogen.

Advanced biology is inherently "dual use" — the same research that can lead to a lifesaving vaccine can potentially be used for something dangerous. But Anthropic flagged the behavior. The researchers reportedly circumvented geographic restrictions to access Claude and took steps to obscure the purpose of their work. That pattern was enough for Anthropic to pull the plug.

How they got around Claude's safeguards

The researchers didn't exactly "hack" Claude. Instead, Anthropic says they found ways to conceal both where they were accessing it from and what they were ultimately trying to accomplish.

In one case, a researcher reportedly accessed Claude from an unsupported region through U.S.-based virtual infrastructure and used an automatically generated account. Anthropic also found Claude requests being routed through a platform serving numerous life-sciences researchers, including virologists with ties to civilian and military institutions.

The researchers also attempted to obscure the purpose of their work to avoid triggering Claude's safeguards. That's particularly difficult to detect in biology because an individual request can look perfectly legitimate even when it contributes to a potentially dangerous larger project.

One of the cases reportedly involved a scientist seeking Claude's help drafting a grant proposal for research that would genetically modify the chikungunya virus to study characteristics including transmissibility and immune evasion. That's research that can have legitimate scientific purposes, which is precisely why Anthropic says it couldn't determine whether the researchers' ultimate intentions were benign or malicious.

Anthropic nevertheless decided the combination of sensitive research and attempts to conceal the activity was enough to shut down the accounts.

Why biology is the ultimate stress test

An AI can't mix chemicals in a petri dish or create bioweapons with physical lab equipment. But AI can act as an accelator.

For someone who already knows their way around a lab, a capable model can break down complex research, analyze data, troubleshoot problems and bridge niche technical gaps. It can give humans everything they need to make dangerous work easier and faster.

That leaves AI companies facing a massive gray area. A legitimate scientist and someone pursuing a biological weapon could ask many of the same questions. And misuse doesn't necessarily arrive as one blatant prompt. Someone can divide a larger project into dozens of innocent-looking tasks, making it much harder for a safety system to understand the bigger picture.

Then there's the problem of false positives. Make those safeguards too aggressive and you risk blocking legitimate scientific research. Make them too permissive and potentially dangerous activity can slip through.

It all comes down to human intent

It's important to clarify what didn't happen here, especially after Jacob Coxon's resignation from Anthropic yesterday, concerns about AI are at an all time high. We worry about models going rogue or autonomous agents acting on their own, but Claude did not go rogue, and autonomous AI agents didn't start plotting a bioweapon on their own. Humans were driving the bus.

That makes the risk far more immediate. The concern in this case isn't a super intelligent AI suddenly deciding to harm humanity. It's that powerful models are giving people capabilities they might not otherwise have had.

For everyday users asking Claude to draft emails, summarize documents or write code, nothing changes. But for the industry, the game has shifted.

So, what can AI companies actually do?

There isn't a perfect fix here. Blocking obvious questions only works when someone is clear about what they are trying to do. If a user breaks a dangerous project into dozens of harmless-looking requests, AI companies need safeguards that can recognize the larger pattern rather than judge every prompt in isolation.

That could mean looking for repeated attempts to bypass a model's safety restrictions, monitoring suspicious patterns across interactions and putting tighter controls around the most powerful scientific capabilities. Companies can also test new models before release to determine how much they could help someone with little expertise perform potentially dangerous biological work.

But every additional safeguard comes with a trade-off. The same systems trying to spot someone developing a biological weapon could also flag a researcher doing legitimate work. That's why Anthropic's disclosure is so important. The next phase of AI safety is about deciding when a pattern of otherwise legitimate-looking behavior becomes dangerous enough for a company to intervene.

So I've compiled a TV guide on what to watch tonight.

I've gone through everything from Netflix, Prime Video, Paramount+, etc. I've scoured the best free streaming services like Tubi. I've even added some movies you might have missed in theaters that are finally available to buy or rent to stream at home.

Top shows and movies to stream tonight

NFL Melbourne Game: San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams (Netflix)

Genre: Live sports event

What it's about: This NFL season, Netflix is getting a game to start the year. In what's going to be just the second game of the 2026-27 regular season, the San Francisco 49ers are taking on the Los Angeles Rams, who are not only the Niners' division rival, but odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl. These two won't be facing off in California, though. Instead, they're headed down to Melbourne for some (non-Aussie rules) football.

Why you should watch it: Last year, these two perennial Super Bowl contenders split their regular-season matchups. The Niners took home a close overtime victory in October, and then got blown out in the return match in November. It's anyone's guess who will come out on top this time, though as a Niners fan, I know who I'm pulling for.

'Colin from Accounts' season 3 (Paramount+)

Genre: Romantic comedy-drama series

What it's about: Ashley (Harriet Dyer) and Gordon (Patrick Brammall) have what must be the world's worst meet-cute. She flashed him her nipple, causing him to crash his car into a dog that they then rushed to a vet. Flash forward, and they've been living together, raising that dog. But a drunken proposal might have ended this star-crossed relationship for good.

Why you should watch it: "Colin from Accounts" is hilarious. It's one of the best comedy series of this decade so far. If you don't believe me, believe its 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes across all three seasons.

'Supergirl' (2026) (HBO Max)

Genre: DC superhero movie

What's it about? After debuting in "Superman," Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) returns to the DCU as the titular "Supergirl." In this adventure, she's decided to go out drinking ... over and over and over again, to celebrate her birthday and cope with the loss of her homeworld. But her birthday bender takes a turn when a young girl named Ruthye (Eve Ridley) draws Kara into a bloody quest for revenge.

Why you need to watch it: This DC movie is based on the incredible comic book run "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." Which makes it all the more disappointing that it wasn't very good. But it's finally included in your HBO Max subscription. So if you were ever going to watch it, now's the time.

Back when Apple announced the first satellite connectivity features for iPhone 14, it also said that access to them would only be free for two years. That was four years ago, and Apple has yet to charge users a dime for continued satellite access — a practice it has just confirmed (via MacRumors) will continue for at least another year.

Satellite connectivity on iPhone is designed to give users the ability to stay connected, even in areas that have no cellular coverage. The first release was Emergency SOS via satellite, which lets you contact emergency services in the event that you need rescue.

Apple later added Messages via Satellite for non-emergency communication, Find my Via satellite and Roadside Assistance via satellite in certain regions. All of which utilize a Globalstar satellite connection to send messages in cellular dead zones.

iPhone 14 users were originally set to lose their free access in 2024, followed by iPhone 15 in 2025 and iPhone 16 this year. The continual extensions mean that they'll continue to be able to access Apple's myriad of satellite features without having to pay for yet another subscription. This is certainly a good thing, and the last thing we want is to be stuck in the middle of nowhere and unable to call for help because Apple's decided it wants another couple of bucks off you every month.

The funny thing is Apple has never actually said how much a hypothetical satellite subscription would actually cost. Or even whether it actually intends to charge users for satellite access in the near future.

Clearly, though, unlike the rising cost of RAM, Apple is quite happy to eat the cost of satellite connectivity for a little while longer. Considering this is a lifesaving feature, that's probably a very good investment for the company. Not just because saving customers' lives is good for business, but also because of the positive publicity those cases can bring.

Things might change in the future, but for now iPhone users can be safe in the knowledge that their access to Emergency SOS via satellite, and other similar features, will remain free and uninterrupted for another year.

Fall has arrived, making September and November the perfect window for mulching flower beds to protect plants before the cooler temperatures set in.

As a thin layer of organic matter on the surface, a natural mulch helps retain moisture in the soil, introduces nutrients as it breaks down, and protects from frost when the temperature drops. A quick trick is to use a grass and weed killer after mulching — but this will only work on young, newly sprouted grass blades coming through the mulch.

Once grass has matured, the spray may not be as effective at getting to work on thick grass — which might benefit from manual tools.

There are several sprays available in your gardening centers or online such as this Spruce Weed & Grass Killer for $35 on Amazon.

This spray kit is formulated from water, essential oils, and a surfactant, and can treat up to 400 weeds. Better still, it promises to work in just an hour, and the reusable bottle means you can simply buy refills instead of a new kit.

Additionally, gardening experts suggest pruning nearby foliage before applying such treatments. Trimming these surrounding stems beforehand allows for a much clearer path to target rogue shoots at their base.

Lastly, it helps to identify the exact location where grass blades keep growing, so you can apply a targeted treatment — ensuring stray growth stays out of your beds for good.

Bear in mind that this solution will only prevent the growth of young weeds and won’t tackle mature ones. If that’s the case, you’ll need to target the weed taproots. And there are plenty of sturdy weeding tools available to save you from doing this back-breaking task.

The Green Button

The standout feature across both 4th Gen models is the new Green Button. This acts as a sort of 'favorites' option for kids to collect up to 20 stories, songs, podcasts, soundscapes or other pieces of content and play them without needing to put in a card.

Parents manage these shortcuts directly through the Yoto app, allowing separate playlists for morning routines and bedtime wind-downs. It also grants immediate access to digital-only app content, such as toothbrushing timers and sleep soundscapes.

Additional upgrades across both players

Better Connectivity Under the hood, both 4th Gen devices are equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 6.1 for faster audio downloads and reliable wireless headphone or app pairing. They also have newer processors for faster performance.

Expanded Storage: Internal memory has doubled to 64GB, capable of holding over 1,000 hours of offline audio for travel.

Extended Warranty: All 4th Gen devices now ship with a standard two-year warranty.

Yoto Player vs Yoto Mini: Specific hardware upgrades

Alongside the core upgrades, each 4th Gen player is also receiving some specific hardware improvements tailored to what they're used for.

The larger stay-at-home Yoto Player 4th Gen has been given an upgraded full-panel night light supporting seven customizable colors, complete with dynamic day/night visual clock cues and Ok-to-Wake indicators.

The player's audio quality is enhanced via an acoustically engineered stereo speaker array, and charging is handled via USB-C or wireless charging bases. Yoto also confirmed a user-replaceable battery replacement kit will be made available in 2027 to extend device longevity.

Meanwhile, the portable Yoto Mini 4th Gen has been given a focus on ruggedness. Yoto has confirmed a new IP67 dust and water resistance rating, rendering it fully splashproof, puddle-proof, and drop-tested. Something that many parents will no doubt appreciate. The Yoto Mini 4th Gen maintains support for both 3.5mm wired headphones and Bluetooth pairing, alongside USB-C fast charging.

Yoto Player 4th Gen availability and pricing

Both devices are available for pre-order starting today via Yoto's direct store, with the Mini also listed on Amazon. The players will also be available through other retailers soon.

The Yoto Player 4th Generation is priced at £119.99 / $149.99 while the Mini is priced at $109.99 / £89.99.

The Yoto Mini 4th Gen will begin shipping September 30, 2026, while the full-sized Yoto Player 4th Gen will start shipping on October 15.
