The Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 (bit of a tongue-twister, right?) is a 2-in-1 floor fan and air purifier, designed to help keep your home air healthy while you stay cool.

As you can probably already tell from the image up there, it looks about as quintessentially Dyson as it’s possible to get and comes with equally Dyson-esque build quality. It’s a strong air purifier and boasts a range of useful features in its app. Plus, none of its rivals on our roundup of the best air purifiers include a fan, either.

Unfortunately, the Dyson looks and build quality also bring the inevitable Dyson premium: this thing is extremely expensive. The cooling function, meanwhile, isn’t much better than that of a standard blade fan.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: Price & availability

The Dyson Find+Follow PC3 costs $849 from Dyson in the U.S. and £549 in the U.K., so you’re paying the usual Dyson premium. The U.S. price is especially high, and if you can’t stretch that far, I’d advise looking at the Windmill Air Purifier ($299) or Blueair Blue Signature ($499, although often discounted at Amazon) — these are two of our favorite air purifiers.

The Dyson somewhat justifies an enlarged price tag over rivals. Firstly, it’s also a fan, which the Windmill and Blueair aren’t. It packs the usual beautiful Dyson build quality and beautiful modern styling; plus connectivity with the Dyson app. So, if you already use Dyson gear, the PC3 will blend in seamlessly from both an aesthetic and user-interface standpoint.

Still, $849 is wildly expensive, and there isn’t really any way to make it make sense. It’s an extravagance. You want Dyson, you have to pay the Dyson tax.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: Design

The PC3 design is archetypal Dyson — gloss-white finish; premium bronze base; confident curves contrasted with clean, straight lines. It’s pure neo-noughties, and I love it. It pairs extremely well with my DysonSolarcycle Morph desk lamp, which I also have in a bronze finish.

It feels like a Dyson product, too — extremely high quality. I moved my two review units around the house a lot during testing. Annoyingly, there are no wheels, so I simply scooped my forearm through the top of the fan loop to carry it around. I neither heard nor felt a single groan or unnerving sound while doing so.

The air purifier uses HEPA filters, which are the bare minimum you should look for in any air purifier or vacuum cleaner. These filter out 99.95% of particles, including viruses, bacteria, spores, pollen and pet dander. There’s a carbon filter to trap the potentially harmful byproducts of combustion, including NO2; and a Selective Catalytic Oxidation (SCO) filter, which traps toxic formaldehyde and, according to Dyson, never needs replacing.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: Setup & use

The Dyson PC3 is extremely easy to set up as it comes pre-assembled. You simply unbox and unpackage it and it’s basically ready to go. You can use it without the Dyson app, but I wouldn’t advise doing so. There’s a QR code on the packaging for downloading the app.

Once in the app, there’s a simple setup process to pair the fan to your app via Bluetooth. This works flawlessly each time (I had two PC3s to set up) and takes a minute or so. You then choose your room and, voilà, you can use the app as a remote control. The app is fantastic, giving you control over modes, fan speed, precise fan direction and rotation, and air purification. The controls are straightforward and all self-explanatory.

There’s a remote control included, which attaches to the top of the fan magnetically and features the same controls as in the app. But although any changes you make on the remote will be shown on the PC3’s LED display, it’s still way more intuitive to see exactly what you’re doing in the Dyson app.

The remote’s buttons aren’t backlit, either, so it’s impossible to see what you’re pressing at nighttime. It’s handy for making basic adjustments during the day, I guess, and will be necessary if multiple people want to adjust the fan (visitors, or in an office).

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: Performance

The PC3 serves dual purposes. Not only is it an air purifier, but one of Dyson’s renowned standing cooling fans. I’ll evaluate both separately, as well as the Find+Follow mode and noise levels.

Air purifier

Firstly, I’ll discuss the PC3’s air purification, which is pretty good. According to Dyson, a single fan purifies rooms up to 27m², filtering over 290 litres per second. The PC3 filters and tracks a variety of contaminants, which can be viewed in basic form on the display, or in detail via the app.

• PM2.5 — Particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns, including smoke, burning candles and industrial emissions
• PM10 — Particular matter smaller than 10 microns, including pollen and allergens
• VOCs — Volatile organic compounds, such as cooking odors, burning fuel, perfume and cleaning products
• NO2 — Nitrogen dioxide and oxidizing gases, the remnants from combustion, including from cooking and vehicles
• The PC3 also tracks general air quality, which is affected by all the above

Initially, I ran the air purifier in my living room, which is next to a busy road, keeping the windows open to see if there was any spike in NO2 emissions. If there were, these proved easy work for the PC3, which kept NO2 and air quality in the green.

I ran the same tests in my kitchen with the doors and windows to my garden open, to induce some PM10 allergens like pollen into the room. The grass pollen count in my area was moderate to high, but even so I couldn’t get a reading on the PC3.

So, I subjected the air purifier to some sterner tests. I first cooked homemade pizza in my oven. After it was done, I deliberately left semolina flour and cornflour to burn on my pizza steel inside the oven. Then I opened the oven door.

The PM2.5 and PM10 immediately spiked, and my kitchen air quality was sent straight into the red (very poor). Within 30 minutes, the PC3 in auto mode had pulled the air quality back into yellow (fair). By 2.5 hours later, the air quality was back in the green (good).

I then ran a closed-door, closed-window and closed-curtain test in my bedroom, which is smaller. I sprayed lots of aerosolized dry anti-perspirant, lit a candle and burnt several matches down to the wick before blowing them out and letting them smoke. I could literally taste how disgusting the air was in the room. PM2.5 and PM10 figures went through the roof, this time the worst level: purple (severe). The PC3 automatically ramped up to max power and cleared the room back to green (good) in around 30-minutes. The smell of the aerosol was cleared earlier, though, in around 10 minutes.

These rates are fairly good in my book. The Windmill Air Purifier and Blueair Blue Signature — two of our favorite air purifiers — will clear candle smoke or a handful of flour in minutes, but the test I subjected the Dyson to was way more extreme, and it only took half an hour to get air quality levels from severe back to good.

Cooling fan

I tested the PC3 at the perfect time — a heatwave hit the U.K. just two days after I started testing. Temperatures hit 33C, or 91F, and if you’ve ever been to Britain in the summer, you’ll know we don’t do aircon in our homes.

The PC3 definitely helped keep my wife and I cooler than if we’d had no fan. Unfortunately, though, the PC3 isn’t worth spending the money on if you’re only after a cooling fan. The performance wasn’t any better than my $50 conventional bladed fan.

At night, with the PC3 at the foot of my bed and running at full blast, the fan wasn’t strong enough for air to reach my face and keep me cool. I had to dig out my small bladed fan to put on my bedside table. At close quarters, this felt as powerful and cooling as the Dyson.

On a positive note, the PC3 has a rear diffusion mode, which is useful. This diffuses cooler air out of the rear of the fan loop, rather than directly at you through the front — it’s better for gentler, longer-term cooling in less extreme ambient temperatures.

Find+Follow

The PC3’s Find+Follow setting uses a sensor and subject detection to detect, lock onto and track subjects round the room, following them with the fan (there’s no recording taking place, though, for the security conscious). It’s kinda cool, accurately detecting and following you when you walk nearby. With more than one person detected, it’ll automatically rotate to hit them both, so no need to keep setting rotation angles manually as people move.

There are a few problems, though. Firstly, it doesn’t work with animals. In the hot weather, I wanted my dogs to get some breeze, so I had to set the rotation angle manually. Secondly, the detection range is a little narrow, so it failed to find me a few times, and I had to manually start a detection sweep. Finally, it had trouble recognizing people when they sat down on a low sofa or lay down, meaning I had to set the rotation manually again. These issues undermined the hands-off experience Find+Follow is supposed to allow.

Noise levels

The PC3 obviously makes noise. It’s a whopping great big fan. It isn’t that loud though, and at full power (10) it was peaking at 57.6dB on DecibelX — equating to other household appliances like a dishwasher. There’s a night mode, which turns off the display and pares back the noise a little, but at its quietest, the PC3 still operates at 50dB.

This is obviously rather noisy in the dead of night. I’m used to running a dehumidifier at night, so running the PC3 at full pelt didn’t bother me. But if you’re a sensitive sleeper, the noise may still be an issue. Check out the Dyson HushJet Compact Air Purifier instead, which operates at just 27dB.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: App

The Dyson app is fairly good. It’s a little janky sometimes, failing to connect to my Dyson Solarcycle Morph desk lamp. But with the PC3, I have no complaints. As I’ve detailed throughout, the app is by far the easiest and most insightful way to control the PC3. Being able to visualize the controls on your smartphone instead of the tiny LED screen is super handy. And then there are the in-depth graphs to show you real-time and longer-term air quality. Without the app, I’m not sure I could’ve scored this product as highly.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: Storage & maintenance

If (like me) you don’t have a large house, storing this badboy is gonna be a problem. The PC3 is very tall, and although narrow (making it easy to fit into narrow spaces), still takes up as much real estate as a floor lamp. If you’ve already got a floor lamp where a floor lamp should go, well, the PC3 will need to stand awkwardly wherever it can. And with no folding or dismantling possible, what you see is what you get.

Maintenance is fairly simple: just replace the filters when needed. Dyson recommends changing every 12-months, or when the app/LED counter reaches 0%. I ran both my fans at full tilt for around a week (day and night), and the percentage dropped to 97%. That was quite an extreme test, though, and home users should only need to replace one a year.

The PC3 uses Dyson’s 360-degree combined HEPA H13 + K-Carbon filter, which costs $89 / £85 each. Replacing the filters couldn’t be easier: press the button to release the case covers, remove the filters, insert new ones, then close it all back up again.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: How does it compare?

In terms of its purifying, the Dyson is a match for other large rivals like the Windmill Air Purifier, albeit much more expensive and bulky. The Windmill is much more understated, design-wise, blending in perfectly alongside a laundry basket in our review — that might be the one to go for if you’re not a fan of the Dyson’s “statement piece” design. If you’re short on space (or indeed cash), meanwhile, the Blueair Blue Signature or Shark NeverChange Compact Pro are much better choices.

I’d only really recommend spending extra on the PC3 over any of its rivals if you have other Dyson products using the app and/or you need a 2-in-1 fan and purifier — none of our favorite air purifiers offer that. Still, you can grab a cheaper, older model like the Dyson PC1 ($549) and get many of the same core benefits.

Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 review: Verdict

The Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3 is an excellent air purifier, cleaning extremely polluted air in under 30 minutes during testing. For moderate day-to-day use, it’ll have no issues keeping the air in your home healthy. It packs a variety of very useful features, not least the Dyson app, which is critical to the PC3’s user-friendliness. There’s also the Find+Follow function, which is cool, but a little flawed. And of course, there’s the built-in floor fan, which our other favorite air purifiers don’t offer.

That said, it’s heinously expensive in the U.S., and rather difficult to justify. If you really need a 2-in-1 purifier and fan combo, it could be worth the spend. And if you have other recent Dyson gear, the PC3 will fit in both aesthetically and technologically, thanks to the ecosystem-wide Dyson app.

At the end of the day, the PC3 is a Dyson. It’s expensive, arguably overpriced, but would I give it back? Only if forced.

Best Dyson EOFY deals

Great hair doesn’t come easy — but instead of spending hours styling, shelling out hundreds at the salon and a testing a whole lot of my patience, I've found a solution that takes the stress out of doing your hair: the Shark FlexStyle.

I've been using the hair tool for a week now, and I can honestly say my hair has never looked better. What used to take me an hour of blow-drying and styling now takes just 20 minutes — even with my sometimes stubborn hair. It may seem like a small change, but it’s made a huge difference in my daily routine.

The Shark FlexStyle has built a solid reputation by delivering professional results at a more accessible price point. At $329 with all attachments included, it competes directly with tools costing double — not to mention it's currently 40% off.

One of my favorite things about it is it's versatility: It can straighten, curl and blow dry. I had to travel to a wedding this weekend and I simply threw the Shark Flexstyle in my bag and didn't have to worry about bringing a whole slew of tools. I was able to give myself a salon-quality blowout and bouncy curls in record-time.

The FlexStyle also uses circulated hot air rather than direct contact heat, which is how it styles without excessive damage. Hot air flows through the attachments while you work, smoothing or curling hair at lower temperatures than traditional tools require.

Amazon Prime Day doesn't officially start until June 23, but several early deals are already live. If you've been considering the Shark FlexStyle, now is the perfect time to buy at just $199.

Dyson has launched a portable cooling fan, the HushJet Mini Cool, that’s designed to be handheld on the move, worn or placed on a desk. It’s the first time the brand has entered the handheld fan market, but based on my testing the wait has been worth it.

I’ve already given my first impressions of using the HushJet Mini Cool during a heatwave, and now I’m following up with a full review. And, as the name behind some of the best-looking fans on the market, including Dyson’s iconic Cool CF1 bladeless fan, I had high expectations.

At $99, the HushJet Mini Cool isn't cheap, but it performs very well, is easy to carry and has earned a permanent place on my desk.

Dyson's HushJet Mini Cool: Price and availability

As you would expect from Dyson, you won’t be paying out for a budget-end product. The HushJet Mini Cool is available for $99 from Dyson, and it’s also $99 at Best Buy.

It’s already proved popular, so if you want it, don’t delay, as it’s in high demand. Although the HushJet Mini Cool is expensive for a handheld fan, it’s 50% less than its rival, Shark’s ChillPill, which costs $149 at Amazon.

It’s no surprise that the HushJet Mini Cool is elegantly packaged; it is a Dyson product after all. Once you open the box, you’ll discover an inner drawer that slides out, containing the fan and accessories.

What extras come with the fan? You get a neck dock, a charging stand, a USB-C charging cable and a travel pouch.

Yet to be released are a universal mount, designed to fasten it to items such as a pram, and a grip clip that securely attaches the fan to bag straps or jackets.

Dyson's HushJet Mini Cool: Design

The HushJet Mini Cool features an attractive cylindrical design that fits easily in your hand, can be worn around your neck with the strap, or stands upright on a desk. I was impressed by the fan’s flexibility, which allows it to be used in three ways.

The fan itself is mini, measuring just 1.5 inches wide and 7 inches high, and weighing 7.5 oz, making it perfectly portable.

I reviewed the Stone/Blush colorway, which has a soft pink tone, but it’s also available in two other duo colorways: Carnelian/Sky (red) and Ink/Cobalt (blue).

The fan head features an attractive petal-like design with a honeycomb interior, and it can be rotated 360° to target exactly where it is needed.

The controls are vertically aligned on the front, with an on/off button and 5 speeds controlled by the ‘+/-’ control.

Turn the fan around and you’ll notice the dock for the USB-C cable at the bottom.

Dyson's HushJet Mini Cool: Ease of use

Once I unpacked the HushJet Mini, it was already good to go. If it needs charging, simply plug the USB-C cable into the back of the fan and leave it to charge for three hours. According to Dyson, a single charge should keep your cool for six hours when used on speed 1.

The HushJet Mini is pretty intuitive to use. Turn the device on using the lower switch at the front, then select your preferred fan speed. There are five to choose from, and a boost mode for up to 55 mph of cooling power.

Dyson's HushJet Mini Cool: Performance

I enjoyed using the HushJet Mini, especially being able to adjust the nozzle for multidirectional airflow in the middle of a heatwave. It’s actually fun, and strangely therapeutic, to swivel it around.

I mostly used it as a standing fan, sitting on my desk, and I found power level 1 sufficient, even in the middle of a heatwave. In fact, it could replace a standard desk fan and free up space. What’s more, it’s a good portable device if you work from different locations and need to stay cool.

In other reviews, people have mentioned how quiet the fan is, and although it isn’t terrifyingly loud, I did find it annoying when I was working. I found it distracting when it was above level 2. On level 1, it measures 57 dBA and peaks at 74 dBA on power boost, although Dyson results are slightly lower, ranging from 52 dBA to 72.5 dBA.

Despite my reservations about the noise, the clever people at Dyson have designed the HushJet Mini Cool with noise reduction in mind. The HushJet’s nozzle is designed to eliminate high-pitched whirring and noise from the 65,000-rpm motor, aided by the honeycomb mesh liner.

While I found it slightly distracting while working, I did appreciate the direct airflow, and when used in other situations, away from work, the noise was much less noticeable.

The neck dock is a great addition, as it lets you sling the fan around your neck when you’re on the go and switch it on whenever needed, without having to hunt around in a bag.

Apart from keeping you cool in the heat while at home, work or at an event, I can see the HushJet Mini Cool being the perfect gadget to keep unexpected menopausal hot flashes under control.

Dyson's HushJet Mini Cool: Verdict

I won’t be putting the HushJet Mini Cool at the back of a drawer anytime soon. It’s taken a permanent place on my desktop and gets switched on to keep me cool whenever the temperature rises. I love how it can be used as a standing fan and handheld, but you do have to pay for this privilege. There are definitely cheaper handheld alternatives available.

That said, it’s still $50 less than its rival, the Shark ChillPill. But this gives you another dilemma. Do you spend out $99 on the HushJet Mini Cool, or splash out more for the extra features the ChillPill offers, including a cooling plate and mister? I'll you leave you to decide.

The first heatwave of the year has just struck the U.K., with temperatures hitting up to 91.4°F for most of the country. And however much I try to cool my house down, opening and closing windows and blinds at different times of day to keep cool air in and hot air out, I’m wilting.

So I was pretty excited when Dyson’s first-ever portable handheld fan, the new HushJet Mini Cool, arrived for me to review. I’ve only been testing it for a couple of days, but here are my first impressions before I follow up with my full review.

What makes it ‘cool’?

At first glance, the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool is intriguing. Unsurprisingly, it’s elegantly packaged; you’d expect no less from this premium brand, and it has an attractive design, which is pretty handy since it’s a portable fan that’s meant to be both used and seen.

The fan head features a petal-like design with a honeycomb interior, giving it a slightly feminine look.

What’s more, it’s available in three colorways: Stone/Blush, Carnelian/Sky and Ink/Cobalt. I’ve got the Stone/Blush version, which to my mind is the prettiest option, but it might not be for everyone.

The beauty of the fan is its versatility and 3-in-1 functionality. You can hold it, wear it or place it on a desktop. It’s been sitting beside me while I work, and has its own non-slip stand to keep upright. And besides being small and not taking up desk space, you can change the direction of the airflow by simply twisting the fan section on the top.

It’s easy to use

No batteries are required; it just needs to be charged via USB. Although I haven’t timed a single charge, Dyson claims it lasts up to six hours, though that's probably not when it’s running at full power.

The controls are super easy; you won’t need to pore over any instructions. You switch it on, then press the +/- button to adjust the cooling boost to your desired level. While sitting at my desk, I found levels 1 and 2 sufficient. I was practically blown away by level 5.

It’s noisier than I thought

You get a constant flow of air from the fan, up to 25 m/s, without any rotation. Dyson claims the fan remains quiet, but I would disagree.

If you’ve got it on your desk during a video call, even at level 1, I would turn it off. At level 1, it measured an average of 57 dB, rocketing to 74 dB on level 5. That’s pretty distracting when you’re trying to focus.

A quick comparison: Dyson HushJet vs Shark ChillPill

Shark launched its portable handheld fan, the ChillPill, a month earlier than Dyson. This rival product comes with five extra cooling levels, a digital LCD screen and 11 hours of battery life, plus a cooling plate to target your neck or wrists for an instant chill. Finally, it also adds in a mister for that added touch.

But if you want to pick up the lanyard, which lets you wear the fan on the go, it'll cost extra. Dyson includes this as standard.

There’s no doubt that the ChillPill beats Dyson on the color stakes, too. It comes in seven fashionable colors, but the sting in the tail from Shark is the price will set you back an extra $50.

The Shark ChillPill currently retails for $149 at Amazon. That’s a hefty price to pay for a personal cooling fan, when the HushJet will serve the same core function for $50 less.

And when it comes to air purification and tech, Dyson has always been ahead of the game. Not just for its advanced filtration and exceptional power but for its iconic bladeless designs.

Which is why the HushJet Compact Air Purifier is a breath of fresh air (no pun intended). With its jet engine nozzle design, it boasts more power whilst claiming to be whisper-quiet, and its small footprint makes it more convenient for compact rooms, without looking like an eyesore.

But with its hefty price tag, is it really worth the hype? I put the HushJet Compact Air Purifier to work in my home for a month to find out. I tested its ease of use and how quickly it got rid of smoke, scent, and lingering cooking odors. Here's the lowdown.

While testing the Dyson HushJet Compact purifier, here are some of the key things that I loved about it.

Smaller and sleek upgraded design

Unboxing the Dyson HushJet Compact purifier was a simple task, thanks to its smaller, lightweight profile. In addition, putting it together was a breeze; you just secure the top 'jet-engine' piece on top of the body with a click.

Perhaps the most interesting thing is its upgraded, stylish design. Unlike its predecessors, the HushJet has a nozzle at the top that's inspired by jet engine (promising a more quieter operation), and a sleek, cylindrical body. In fact, the HushJet resembles more of a speaker than an air purifier, and certainly won't look out of place in any room.

It's also the smallest air purifier in the line-up (so far), with a footprint of 23 -49 cm (19 in height), which is ideal to fit in a compact room.

It's also simple to operate with just three buttons (fan speed, power, and info), and an LCD screen on the body. You can either use it manually or connect via the app, via Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi, which gives you more options at a glance.

Perhaps the only downside is that it doesn't have a cooling fan or heat function, which other Dyson air purifiers offer. However, if your sole purpose is having clean air on a regular basis, this isn't a major deal breaker.

I'm still undecided whether I prefer the iconic, bladeless Dyson design, but the HushJet's, sleek, low-profile upgrade does well to blend with any modern interior.

Quick responses to air quality changes

I decided to first put the HushJet to the test in my medium-sized living room to see how well it removed odors. Since I frequently burn scented candles and incense, this was the ideal first challenge.

Set to Auto, it didn’t take long before the power ramped up within seconds after I lit an incense stick. I was impressed by the fast response to the change in indoor air quality, where the color on the LCD screen quickly went from green (good) to red (very poor).

The readings also indicated high levels of particulate matter: a PM2.5 reading of 69g/m3 and a PM10 reading of 71g/m3, which is often linked to the removal of larger microscopic particles.

And while you wouldn't ordinarily hold a lit incense stick up close to your purifier, I was pleased to see that the color readings had returned to a green after cleaning the air in under 40 minutes — which is impressive considering how strong the aroma was. What's more, I could tell the difference in the overall air quality when I walked back into the room an hour later, which was literally refreshing.

I also replicated the same test by squirting some perfume in the air. To my surprise, it managed to filter the air in just five minutes, going from a poor (orange) quality to good. Of course, you have 10 fan speed settings to choose from, but I tend to stick to Auto as I find it to be more effective when detecting pollutants in the room, and also more eco-friendly, cutting down on energy consumption.

Since I have a somewhat open-plan living area, there's nothing I hate more than cooking smells drifting in from the kitchen. After placing it on the floor nearby my stove, it took slightly longer to remove any lingering odors. In fact, looking at my timer, it had taken precisely 52.29 minutes to completely clean the air. Compared to removing scents, this process took longer, but was still completed in under an hour, which still outperforms other air purifiers I've tested.

It's worth noting that considering both my living room and kitchen area are medium-sized , the HushJet may not be as effective in larger spaces. But, since the HushJet is designed for smaller spaces, I was very impressed at how powerful and effective it was at getting the job done well.

It really is super quiet

The HushJet isn't called 'whisper quiet' for no reason, and I was particularly impressed by how quiet it remained, especially when set to Sleep mode. According to my sound meter, it recorded a steady 27dB on Auto mode, and ramped up to 60dB at the highest dan speed of 10, which is equivalent to a conversation.

In Sleep mode however , it registered as 24dB. This reading is slightly louder than a whisper, which is typically classified as 20dB, but was significantly quieter. In fact, I didn't even notice it was on while I was sleeping, and I appreciate that the LCD light automatically switches off when set to that mode.

This makes it ideal for placing in a bedroom, nursery, or simply when you just want to relax in peace, without the usual interruptions of an air purifier.

It has a user-friendly app

Since I already have Dyson appliances pairing the HushJet purifier through the MyDyson app was simple. However, first-timers will need to download the app that allows one-touch control through its intuitive interface. In addition, if you have a smart home set-up, you can connect by using compatible voice services such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri.

Besides being able to control your settings, fan, and Sleep mode, I like how the app gives you real-time insights about how good or bad your indoor air quality is, and even lets me know what the outdoor quality is like (so I can close my windows if need be). You can also customize a schedule, so you can set specific times when you want your air purifier on and off in advance.

Admittedly, I'm not a big app person, but I found it to come in handy, especially when monitoring my air quality at a glance.

While it's clear that the Dyson HushJet purifier had some great wins, there were downsides (albeit minor ones).

It's not as 'compact' as it claims

Interestingly, the HushJet air purifier claims to be compact enough to fit on a desk or tabletop, but I found this not to be case (unless you have a massive desk!). I thought its size was still too big and looked clunky on my table, despite having the word 'compact' in its name.

But, it is still smaller in comparison to other powerhouses, and if you have limited floor space, light enough to elevate. If you do want a mini air purifier however, I'd probably opt for the Shark NeverChange air purifier, which can fit snugly into a corner or on a small table.

Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact: Verdict

In a nutshell, the Dyson HushJet is a powerful, lightweight, and eye-catching purifier that works well to quickly pull in airborne particles and pollution. I was most impressed at how quickly it detects air quality changes and reacts accordingly, (especially to my extremely potent incense stick). Its filter also has a five-year lifespan, which is always a bonus. Best of all, it's super quiet — you might not notice when it's on.

While it performed well within my small to medium-sized spaces, this probably wouldn't be as effective in larger spaces. In which case, you should opt for the Blueair Signature air purifier, which came tops in our guide for the best overall.

Also, bear in mind that this doesn't include a cooling function, which you can get in other models. And considering its premium price tag, I would expect to get more versatility to make this a worthwhile investment. Still, if you do want a dual air purifier/fan, you can opt for the Dyson Purifier HP07, which also heats.

Overall, the Dyson HushJet air purifier is highly effective, particularly in smaller rooms or households. So if you need a compact, efficient air purifier, the HushJet is an excellent choice that will easily meet, and likely exceed, expectations.

There are hair tools, and then there are hair tools that make you wonder what you've been doing for the past decade. The Dyson Airwrap i.d. Curly + Coily is firmly in the second category.

I'll admit I came to this late. This is my first Dyson product and I'll also admit that the price tag gave me pause. But after two months of near-daily use, I can say with some confidence: the hype is real, and more importantly for those of us with type 3-4 curls, Dyson has finally done the work to earn it.

What's changed with the i.d. Curly+Coily isn't just the attachments — though we'll get to those, because they deserve their own conversation. It's the sense that this styler was built with textured hair genuinely in mind, rather than adapted for it as an afterthought.

The result is a tool that handles curls and coils with a level of consideration that most styling tools, even good ones, simply don't offer.

Think of it the way you'd think about a good vacuum or a quality mattress: you get what you pay for, and with Dyson, what you're paying for is immediately apparent from the moment you open the box.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. Curly + Coily: Design

Everything about the Airwrap i.d. communicates that this is a serious piece of kit. I have mine in Ceramic Pink/Rose Gold, which looks every bit as good on the shelf as it does in product shots — but if that's not your palette, Amber Silk and Prussian Blue/Rich Copper are equally striking.

The magnetic attachments click in and out with a satisfying precision that makes switching mid-session feel effortless. The new Conical Airwrap barrel has a tapered tip that's been engineered to style closer to the root than previous versions — a small design change with a real impact on definition and bounce for tighter curl patterns.

The Wave+Curl diffuser is a new format entirely, with two distinct airflow modes built into a single attachment: Dome mode for enhancing and defining natural curl patterns, and Diffuse mode for adding root volume and texture. One attachment doing two jobs is exactly the kind of considered design decision that runs through the whole tool.

Everything comes stored in a larger presentation case that protects all the attachments neatly, and if you've ever tipped a bag upside down looking for a barrel you definitely put in there, you'll appreciate it more than you might expect.

Let's start with the heat claim, because it's the one I was most sceptical about. Dyson's position is that damage occurs above 150°C, and that the Airwrap measures temperature 40 times per second to stay below that threshold.

As someone who has always prioritised hair health above everything else, I raised an eyebrow. Two months in, I've been converted. Here's what each attachment actually does, and which ones are worth getting excited about.

Wave+Curl Diffuser

The diffuser is exceptional, and if you diffuse regularly, this is the attachment you'll reach for most. It's large and deep enough to hold a full head of type 3 hair, and the curved shape sits properly against the skull when diffusing upside down, giving you movement and control that a flat or shallow diffuser simply can't match.

The two modes make it genuinely versatile: Dome mode gives you that cushion of air that enhances and defines curl patterns without disturbing them, while Diffuse mode lifts at the root for volume and texture.

And the results: less frizz, better definition, more volume, are visible after every use.

Conical Airwrap Barrel

The conical barrel's tapered tip reaches closer to the root than previous Airwrap barrels, which makes a real difference for tighter curl patterns that need definition all the way up rather than just at the ends.

The curls it produces are bouncy and well-formed, though I'd recommend a light hairspray and pinning sections while they cool if you want them to hold. Curls will drop without it, but that's a feature of curl behaviour rather than a flaw in the tool — I think.

Wide-Tooth Comb

The wide-tooth comb is the surprise highlight of the whole package. A heated attachment that stretches, shapes, and detangles as it dries sounds straightforward, but in practice it's incredibly versatile.

I've used it for root diffusing, for smoothing sections before curling, and on days when I want to lengthen and define without fully committing to a style. I used this on my mom's type 4 hair and she remarked on the lack of snagging, or pulling.

This kind of innovation alone makes a compelling case for the whole tool, t's the kind of thing you didn't know you needed until you've used it and now I wouldn't be able to go without it.

Blowout Attachments

The Fast Dryer, Anti Snag Loop Brush, and Large Round Volumising Brush round out the kit for anyone who wears their hair straight or wants a classic blowout finish.

The Anti Snag Loop Brush in particular is well-designed — Dyson-engineered bristles that move through hair without pulling, which is the detail that makes or breaks a brush for anyone with finer or more fragile strands.

With a curly cut, a full blowout isn't something I reach for regularly, but experimenting with these attachments was genuinely enjoyable, and the results were impressive. If a smooth finish is part of your regular rotation, you won't be disappointed.

The i.d. Feature

The one element I expected to love and didn't is the i.d. functionality. Setting up your profile in the MyDyson app: questions about your hair type, length, and styling skill — is an intuitive and enjoyable process, and discovering that the app officially classifies my hair as long was its own small revelation.

But the automated styling routine it generates isn't something I've found myself using in practice. It's a feature that will genuinely suit those newer to styling textured hair, and the app itself is well-designed and easy to navigate. For anyone with an established routine though, it's easy (and fine) to set aside.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. Curly + Coily: The Verdict

Yes, it's expensive, and I know there's some great dupes out there, but the Airwrap i.d. Curly + Coily is the rare product that genuinely justifies every cent. From the presentation case to the attachments themselves, nothing about this feels like a compromise.

After years of reaching for a nourishing mask after every heat styling session, I didn't have to with this. My hair came out looking and feeling healthy — and that, more than any spec, is the most convincing endorsement I can give.

For type 4 hair especially, the wide-tooth comb is a genuine game changer in the way detangles, stretches, and shapes as it dries. And the conical barrel reaches closer to the root than anything I've used before. For curls that need definition all the way up, that difference is immediately visible.

In the interest of balance, the i.d. feature won't be for everyone. If you already have an established routine, you'll likely bypass it entirely after the first week.

And yes, the price. It's an investment by any measure, and that's worth acknowledging — even if, in this case, it's one that pays for itself every time you use it.

There's no worse feeling than washing your hair on holiday only to find there’s no hairdryer – but then, even when one is supplied, it’s often underpowered and won’t deliver anything like the results you can achieve with a good hairdryer at home.

After dominating the market for pro-grade consumer haircare, beauty and cleaning brand Dyson has plans to expand further with the newly announced Supersonic Travel, which is available in the UK and Australia from today.

With an almost identical design to its predecessor, the Supersonic, the latest Dyson hairdryer was designed with frequent travelers in mind. Automatically adapting to various global voltages, the key element that sets the Dyson Supersonic Travel apart is its compact size, saving even more room in your suitcase for souvenirs.

According to Dyson, it can achieve 75% of the drying efficiency of the original Supersonic, all while being roughly a third smaller in size at just 8.7in / 22.2cm long (vs 11.3in / 28.3cm). And as someone who immediately ran to the device during a press briefing earlier this year, I can confidently confirm that size makes a significant difference.

Voltage for everywhere

During a secret Dyson press briefing I attended in February, the brand had placed the Supersonic Travel next to the Supersonic Nural to allow for direct comparisons. I found that once turned to max speed, the Travel's velocity was slightly lower, but still packed a mighty punch – well beyond any travel hairdryers I’ve previously used. Speed aside, I was also surprised by its weight, which is noticeably lighter than the Supersonic's. As per the official specs, it is around 25% lighter than the original, weighing just 0.72lbs / 330g.

The device has three heat and two airflow settings, so you can customize your preferred styling mode, and it’s compatible with the full range of existing magnetic Supersonic attachments. (It’s worth noting that while it can be used with attachments, first-time Dyson buyers will find that only the concentrator nozzle is included in the box.)

What impressed me most about the Supersonic Travel, though, was its global voltage compatibility, in which the device can automatically adapt to any country's wattage. As an avid traveler myself, I was delighted to discover that voltage changes won't impact the speed or damage the motor of the device, which can be a common issue for airstylers while travelling.

While I didn't get to fully dry or style my hair with the test device at the preview event, I still came away thoroughly impressed. The Supersonic Travel may not be the most revolutionary addition to Dyson’s haircare range and there’s arguably still room for improvement — it doesn't come with a multi-country plug adaptor and isn't cordless like the Dyson Corrale for total portability, for example — but if you’ll excuse the pun, it definitely blew me away, even during my limited hands-on time.

The Dyson Supersonic Travel is available to purchase at Dyson UK for £249.99 and Dyson AU for AU$449, with launch dates for other locales (including the US) still TBC at the time of publication.

Keeping your hard floors clean with all that daily foot traffic can be a real pain, especially if (like me), that's mostly what you have in your home. That's why a powerful wet floor cleaner is a total game-changer, making that tough, regular mopping chore so much easier.

Since I test some of the best vacuum cleaners for a living, I’ve put a bunch of wet floor cleaners to work on my varied hard floor types. And while some have done a great job at removing debris and the toughest of stains, not all have managed to replace my mop and bucket just yet.

Which is why I was so keen to try the latest Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene, which is an upgrade to the Dyson WashG1, which I also tested. Similar to its predecessor, it's designed to be completely suction-less, using a mixture of agitation and hydration via its spinning rollers to quickly shift dirt instead. It also has the absence of a dirty filter, so you won’t get any trapped lingering odors — making it more hygienic and easier to maintain, and boasts a runtime of 45 minutes.

The upgraded self-cleaning dock is another new feature, offering hygienic maintenance with hot air drying. Plus, the new design ensures hands-free cleaning, as all the dirty water is neatly contained within the floorhead.

But while it looks good on paper, will it get the job done? Here's what happened when I tried it in my home for a few weeks.

Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene review: Design

Similar to its predecessor, the Clean + Wash Hygiene sports a sleek, modern design in a copper and prussian blue colorway. Its water tank is located at the front, while the dirty water is contained in the floorhead itself, which is very similar to the V15 Detect Submarine mopping attachment.

This design means there are no tubes inside, so you don't have to worry about clogs — since dirt and gunk have nowhere to travel. Liquid waste goes into a separate dirty water tank, and any solids get filtered out and collected in their own tray. It also helps with its more streamlined, aesthetic appearance.

The plush roller's super-dense fibers are ideal for grabbing debris on hard floors, so you can skip the vacuuming beforehand, and it has tough bristles to help scrub things clean. An anti-tangle comb is also located behind the roller, serving to prevent hair from wrapping around it.

Its handle has two button controls above an LCD screen that gives you real-time information about when to fill the water tank, three levels of hydration, when it needs to self-clean, and the battery indicator. It also comes with four power modes to tackle any type of stain and Max power.

The unit includes a self-cleaning dock with a newly introduced hot air drying function. After self-cleaning the roller, it's dried using bursts of warm air (185F), which makes it damp-free and ready for the next cleaning session. Plus, both the floor cleaner and its dock are compact enough for simple storage in a utility cupboard.

Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene review: Ease of use

Similar to the WashG1, the floor cleaner comes with a few parts that are easy to assemble. Simply click and lock its signature red buttons — pressing them down to take it apart.

There are no complicated instructions, but if in doubt, there is a quick ‘foolproof’ diagram inside to guide you. Once you turn the power button on, the handle turns on the LCD that gives you handy, animated instructions to get started — such as ‘fill clean water tank’ etc.

With that said, filling the water tank is fuss-free, although getting the lid off the top was a little tricky. Once you fill to the Max line, you click it back onto the vacuum body, and it’s ready to go. Unlike the WashG1, there is no separate dirty water tank/capsule underneath, as all the waste goes directly to the floorhead.

As a result, this makes the Clean + Wash Hygiene lighter to lift and carry (8 pounds) than the hefty WashG1 that weighed over 10 pounds. However, that also means the clean water tank is smaller at just 0.75L compared with 1L. Still, if you clean on the low hydration level, it shouldn’t use a lot of water.

In terms of usability, the Clean + Wash is a breeze, and it glides effortlessly along my floors. Perhaps another key upgrade is that the floor cleaner now lets you retract the handlebars so the whole unit can lie completely flat. This is ideal for getting my low-rise sofas, beds, and furniture for a thorough clean.

I also liked its solid handle that offers a more sturdy grip and better control when maneuvering around the room.

My only disappointment is that it doesn’t come with bright LED headlights to make it easier to see what lies underneath. I found this a handy feature to have, which is now a standard on other wet floor cleaners such as the Roborock Ultra F25.

Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene review: Performance

First, I tested the Clean + Wash on my hardwood and tiled floors. Initially, I focused on general, everyday cleaning, opting for the low hydration settings. Considering there is no suction mechanism, I was impressed at how well it picked up general dirt, dust, and rogue hair strands from my hardwood as it washed. Similarly, it tackled my marble kitchen tiles well with a couple of swipes, and the floor did look visibly ‘whiter’.

Perhaps my only grumbles were that it often struggled with covering the edges well (I still saw dirt marks) and left streaks in some areas of the floor. This also happened to be my main gripe with the WashG1 floor cleaner.

Of course, you can’t really test a wet floor cleaner without throwing some tough messes in its path. And while it did well to quickly tackle drink spillages and dried-in coffee stains, it really struggled with sticky jam stains.

In fact, I needed to ramp up the power on Max/Boost, and stains only started to shift after several swipes over the area. Similarly, soil stains took some time to completely shift.

In any case, the Clean + Wash delivered a solid performance. However, the presence of streaks on the floor and the disappointing edge cleaning results were notable drawbacks.

Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene review: Cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning is simple, and I appreciate no longer having to struggle with taking out messy filters when it's time to empty the waste water. I simply detach the compartment integrated into the floorhead. However, having to separately empty the debris holder can be a bit tedious.

Bear in mind that it’s tricky to see clearly when the dirty tank is full (thanks to its snazzy design), but its LCD screen with let you know. It will instruct you on what you’ll need to do before launching a self-clean cycle and hot air drying. Making this super user-friendly and convenient.

But here’s the caveat — it’s very loud. In fact, it measured in at a max of 75dB on my sound meter, which was loud enough to drown out a normal conversation or television. What’s more, I had to endure this noise for 30 minutes before the cycle finally came to an end. So it’s worth noting before you settle down to watch your favorite Netflix series, or want to relax in peace.

Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene review: Verdict

The new Clean + Wash Hygiene maintains Dyson's reputation for innovative design, ease of use, and solid performance. It made light work of floor cleaning, and left my floors dust and dirt free for the most part.

Perhaps the only drawbacks were its disappointing sticky stain removal and edge-to-edge cleaning results. I was also disappointed to see unsightly streaks left in certain areas on my kitchen floor. And while the self-cleaning and drying system is a big upgrade, the loud noise proves to be a real disturbance (especially for 30 minutes straight).

Honestly, given its premium price, I was expecting a flawless cleaning performance, with the bonus of extra features (LED floorhead lights would have been handy). Plus, I’ve tested other wet floor cleaners, such as the Roborock Ultra25 wet floor cleaner that comes with more features and even a steam option, all for a similar price.

However, if you simply want a solid wet floor cleaner that can easily tackle everyday messes and spills in no time, and eliminate all the dirty handling and filter issues, the Dyson Clean + Wash Hygiene is definitely a great upgrade.

Dyson has just unveiled its newest innovation in home cleaning — a fully self-cleaning cordless vacuum. But, the actual part that does the emptying of the vacuum isn't yet available.

Called the V10 Konical, it promises powerful fade-free suction, the ability to detangle long hair and illuminating dust for an easy clean. It'll also automatically empty and charge your vacuum when paired with the Auto-empty Dok, which is a feature I've been dreaming about for years.

Unfortunately, though, the Auto-empty Dok is listed as "coming soon", making the most impressive feature of the V10 Konical, well... not here yet.

What's more, the V10 Konical itself is only available in Australia and New Zealand at a price of AU$799. There's no release date yet for the U.S. or the U.K., but hopefully by the time it arrives, the Dok will be around too.

Meet the V10 Konical

The Dyson V10 Konical has such a name because it features the new conical floorhead that promises to capture and separate dust and debris, so there's no loss of suction.

With 150AW of power and claims of trapping 99.99% of particles with HEPA filtration, up to 60 minutes of run time (with swappable battery also available), as well as the conical cleaner capable of detangling hair up to 25 inches, it's packed out with features.

And while the V10 Konical is an impressive bit of kit, it's not as impressive without arguably its biggest feature: self-cleaning. The Auto-empty Dok will work as a home base for the V10 Konical to charge up and empty out. And what's also interesting about the Dok is that it'll use trash can liners to hold what Dyson says is "up to 60 days of dirt". But, even when it is available, you'll have to buy it separately.

Dyson's auto-empty docks debuted back at IFA in 2025, which (at the time) Dyson said would be "available from 2026", so it can't be too far behind, we'd hope.

How does it compare?

Looking at the specs, it seems eerily similar to the V8 Cyclone with similar tools, suction power, and runtime. The V8 Cyclone should also be compatible with the Dok, meaning if you've already bought one, there may be no need to upgrade to the V10 Konical at all. Unless, you're incredibly keen on the conical floorhead.

But, Dyson certainly isn't the only brand to be experimenting with self-emptying. Robotic vacuums have been at it for years. We've tried out the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch with its self-emptying dock that'll set you back $1,199, though it's currently on sale for just $649 at SharkNinja.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv is another robotic vacuum we praised in our review, saying it "gets almost everything right" and with a self-emptying dock, it's another alternative option. Although much more expensive at $1599.

If you're set on a self-emptying cordless vacuum though, this is Dyson's first ever option. However I must point out that Shark has the Shark Cordless PowerDetect Clean & Empty Vacuum System for just $549 at Amazon with a self-emptying base already available.

The V10 Konical is certainly an interesting addition to Dyson's preexisting line-up, but without the Auto-empty Dok and a U.S./U.K. release date, I'll just have to wait a little bit longer for my vacuum dreams to come true.

The FlexStyle uses circulated hot air rather than direct contact heat, which is how it styles without excessive damage. Hot air flows through the attachments while you work, smoothing or curling hair at lower temperatures than traditional tools require.

The auto-wrap curling barrel uses air to pull hair around the barrel and set it, eliminating the manual wrapping step. It's a smarter approach to heat styling — one that lets you achieve the look you want without compromising hair health in the process.

For anyone wanting salon-quality results at home, this represents solid value. You're getting most of the Airwrap's capabilities at less than half the price, plus features like the diffuser that higher-end competitors skip entirely.

At $299, the Shark FlexStyle balances professional performance with accessible pricing. Whether you're upgrading your routine or finally trying the tool you've seen all over your feed, this $100 discount makes it easier to justify.

The best robot vacuums seem to undergo substantial evolution every couple of years, and Dyson seems to be at the forefront of the latest shift. The company's new Spot+Scrub AI robot vacuum features lasers that help it detect stains and clean them. After making the media rounds, including our Spot+Scrub Ai review, it's available to buy from popular retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and even Dyson's website.

While the most exciting aspect is the fancy laser, Dyson also included some useful features like a new self-cleaning roller mop (something we've seen on other robot vacuums like the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Omni) and a multifunction dock.

We gave the new Dyson robot vacuum a 4-star rating, but it wasn't available to purchase at the time. Now that you can actually take the vacuum home, it's worth grabbing if you're looking for a high-end option to clean your home.

One of the things we really liked was how hard it worked on dried-on stains. A lot of robot vacuums will make a single pass over stains and be none the wiser. With Dyson's new offering being "aware" of stains, it will keep going back and working on them until they're as close to completely removed as possible.

It uses AI to recognize and avoid obstacles like socks and wires. If you've used a robot vacuum, you know they love to suck up wires, so one that promises to avoid the pitfalls of cord-eating sounds exciting.

Dyson knows how to make a great vacuum cleaner. I've got two in my house, purely because I love them both for different reasons. So when Dyson announced its new Spot+Scrub Ai robot vacuum, I was first in line to test it.

After a couple of weeks of daily use, I'm pretty charmed by the brand's first wet and dry robot vacuum. It does the job — it actually does it rather well — but it's by no means got the 'wow' factor that you'd expect from the brand behind the AirWrap, PencilVac and iconic cooling fans.

Will the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai become a major competitor in a crowded market of $1,000+ robots? Maybe not. But what it lacks in forward-thinking features it makes up for in its low-maintenance, user-friendly design, and I'm pretty happy with its day-to-day performance.

Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai Robot Vacuum: Design

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai is so gargantuan, I'm tempted to charge it rent. Admittedly, I live in a small apartment in London, where floor space is at a premium and every square foot is accounted for.

That's one of the reasons I've clung onto Dyson's neat little 360 VisNav for so long — it's one of the few options that will slot underneath the cabinets in my living room. If you're fortunate enough to live in a home that's larger than an overpriced shoebox, you might not find Spot+Scrub Ai's bulky design so egregious.

With this in mind, I set up the Spot+Scrub Ai in my kitchen for a couple of weeks, where its hefty docking station could sit unencumbered next to my dining table. Size aside, I think it's a handsome machine, with a self-emptying bin (complete with signature Dyson aesthetics) and a tank for clean and dirty water. A bagless design (which means no ongoing cost — huzzah), it does have an unusual transparent design that will lay all your crumbs, hair and dust out in full view. So maybe don't put it next to the TV, unless you enjoy looking at trash.

This is a wet and dry cleaner, and the Spot+Scrub Ai uses a heated cleaning system to keep the roller clean and hygienic. It uses 140°F (60°C) water to clean, and dries it with a 113°F (45°C) hot air cycle to prevent odors. In practice, I found this cycle a little noisy. It's not disruptive, but because it runs for hours after your vacuum has finished mopping, it's a bit annoying and would put me off placing the vacuum in a room where I spend a lot of time.

The vacuum itself is sleek, black and circular, in a shift from the D-shaped design of the 360 VisNav. The unit is pretty tall at 4.3 inches — taller than many other robot vacuums — and it's 14.7 inches wide, which sadly meant it couldn't fit between my dining chair legs.

Alongside that familiar-looking dustbin, Dyson has also added its Fluffy Optic tech to the robot's front bumper. It uses green LED light to illuminate dust and crumbs on the floor ahead as it cleans, and that includes the crumbs underneath the dining chairs, which the vacuum is too wide to clean around. Brb, grabbing my PencilVac.

To its credit, the Spot+Scrub Ai has a shifting brush bar that slides from one side to the other of the vacuum, in theory ensuring that no corners are missed as the vacuum cleans the sides of the room. I found this worked very well, intuitively shifting to sweep alongside table legs and underneath kitchen counters.

Setup

Dyson always makes a good first impression. Setting up robot vacuums can be a complete pain, but thankfully, I already have the Dyson app and the parts slotted together very intuitively, so setup was seamless.

Once paired to the app, the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai ran a software update and then set about mapping my room. I was impressed that it got a very accurate map simply from scanning the length and breadth of the kitchen in a matter of minutes. It clearly had used its in-built 'vision' to get a spot-on depiction of my floorplan.

From there, I was able to set up any no-go areas or add in furniture to my app, as well as create a custom schedule and edit the cleaning routine (vacuum only, mop only, mop and vacuum, vacuum then mop, for example) used.

I added in my dining table, which looked mammoth in the map of the room. I couldn't see a way to edit the size of the furniture, so I ended up leaving it, taking up a substantially larger portion of the floorplan than it actually does in real life. I couldn't quite tell what difference it made adding in your furniture, as the vacuum successfully cleaned rooms where I had added furniture, and where I'd neglected to.

Vacuuming

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai methodically carved out a path through my kitchen, first tracing the outline of the room and using its side-sweeping brushes to push dirt in its path, and then tracing back and forth in clean lines along the room.

I enjoyed how strategically it approached the clean, and when I gave it full rein of the lower level of my home, it also comfortably tackled each room one by one, automatically detecting rug and carpeting and even identifying areas of high debris and flagging them on the end-of-clean report.

My main gripe with the vacuuming performance is that the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai seemingly cuts entire areas out of its cleaning path without reason. The vacuum may have struggled to reach under my dining table, but in my weeks of using it, it didn't seem to try very hard to get there.

However, where it did decide to clean, it did a great job. I can't fault the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai for suction or pickup. Its first clean was on a Monday, after a very prolonged meal prepping session that involved panko breadcrumbs, couscous and those little scraps of garlic skin that end up absolutely everywhere.

It did a really good job of flicking crumbs and debris into its path as it circled the room, and illuminated dust and debris I didn't even know was there — outing my lazy closing shift the day before. Thanks, Dyson.

When it came to the classic Tom's Guide oats test, it picked up almost every oat I had sprinkled both on my hard floor and carpeting, but on the hard floors its sweeping brushes did flick a few out of its path.

Mopping

I had really high hopes for the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai's mopping performance. I love that it's got a roller brush as opposed to mopping pads, meaning the brush is only mopping with a clean and continuous stream of fresh, warm water.

Dyson didn't include any of its 02PROBIOTIC hard floor cleaning solution with the vacuum — in fact, it would appear that it's completely out of stock, which is annoying when you're meant to use it with Dyson products — so I opted for a different brand's dilutable wet floor cleaner to get the job done.

I'd love to pretend that I'd pre-stained my floorboards in preparation for this test. In reality, I'd been lazily taking teabags to the trash can across the kitchen floor, and dripping tea as I went, for a few weeks while I had builders in the house.

In addition to these tea stains, I squirted some sriracha sauce across the width of the floor. If not thoroughly mopped, this leaves a red streak in its path and can easily settle between boards.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai decided it didn't want to clean a patch of the sriracha halfway through mopping my floor. I'm not sure why, because it even flagged that it had identified a stain on the map it generates after cleaning. "Hey, Millie, FYI there's some sriracha on your floor. Did I clean it? No, I thought I'd best get back to my dock."

I sent it out on a second mopping mission after this mishap, and it did a great job of picking up the remaining sauce. In fact, in the weeks that have passed since that initial test, it's not missed a spot, so I'm almost tempted to mark the first issue as a fluke.

Even this morning, the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai continues to do a great job of picking up all the marks on the floor, including my dried-on tea stains. And it vigilantly monitors its water levels and self-cleans its mop roller mid-wash, meaning you won't need to worry about it smearing dirt around your floors.

According to Dyson, this robot vacuum scans its path seven times per second. It's equipped by a dToF (Direct Time of Flight) system, which has greater accuracy in long-range LiDAR measurements and makes both mapping and object detection seamless.

In my tests, I found that the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai had no trouble detecting and navigating around multiple obstructions, including a sock and a wire I left in its path deliberately, and more than a few accidental obstructions left by the builders who were working on my house at the time I was testing! It also flagged these obstructions and any high-debris areas it wasn't able to reach once it had finished its cleaning.

Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai: Comparison

The world of robot vacuums moves fast, but the Spot+Scrub does feature some of the more impressive innovations we've seen in recent months. For one, its mop roller is supplied with a constant stream of clean water, as opposed to alternatives with spinning pads which will continue to clean with an already-dirty mop. The always-fresh roller is a feature you'll also find in the new Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete, although we've not tested that yet, so I can't compare the two models on performance, but pricing is comparable across the two vacs.

If you're on a budget, our top pick for the best robot vacuums is the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop, which retails for roughly half the price of the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai and also features wet and dry cleaning. We also loved its app, which is one area where many find the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai to be lacking.

The PowerDetect doesn't feature the same smart mopping system you'll find with Dyson. However, Shark recently rolled out the PowerDetect UV Reveal robot vacuum, which performed nearly perfectly on our tests.

Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai: Verdict

In an ideal world, you'll never have to deal with your robot vacuum. It won't miss spots of debris or spread mess around your home. It won't gobble up wires or forget where its dock is. And it'll clean and dry its own mop, and empty its own bin. For such smart tech, it doesn't take more than a slight mishap for me to feel that my robot vac is really rather dumb. So while the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai is expensive and bulky, I've been impressed by just how little I've had to deal with it in the past few weeks.

Did it blow me away with impeccable, 100% accuracy? Not every time, no. It missed some staining in one of my first tests (although hasn't missed this spot since) and flicked a few oats and crumbs out of its own path as it made its way around my lounge. But the most important thing to me is that this vacuum never needed rescuing, and didn't cause any dramas in my house. If you want a low-maintenance, trustworthy robot vac, it's one to consider, though not our first choice.

I test vacuum cleaners for a living, so I'm very familiar with the strain that a hefty vacuum or finicky trigger can put on the hands and wrist. But Dyson is setting out to change all that with the launch of the ultra-slim PencilVac and PencilWash.

The brand's answer to this universal pain point isn't just a lighter motor — it’s a thinner grip. How thin, you may ask? The answer is always, it would seem, 38mm.

I caught up with Dyson’s Senior Design Manager, Ketan Patel, to find out more about the human-centric research behind the "Pencil" series and how a few millimeters can make the difference between a chore and a breeze.

From hefty handle to sleek and slim

Dyson has come out swinging with its latest line-up of cordless innovations, the most notable of which is the striking Dyson PencilVac FluffyCones, which our Homes Editor recently reviewed.

Touted as the ‘slimmest vacuum in the world’, it has a 38mm/1.5 inch diameter handle and weighs in at just 3 pounds. I also tried the upcoming Dyson Piston Animal, which also has, you've guessed it, a 38mm diameter handle for easy handling.

And if you're wondering if the magic number stops at floorcare, you should take a look at your Dyson Airwrap, which also touts a 38mm handle.

Dyson's magic number

So why does 38mm seem to be the magic formula?

“We wanted to put all the components, such as motors, power systems, and electronics into the handle to make it feel more comfortable,” explains Patel. “And the 38mm diameter was inspired by the beauty team, when making things like the Supersonic and Airwrap hair products, and finding out how people are using the machines."

“We researched anthropometric data of people's hands of different sizes — from really small hands to large — and 38mm was the diameter needed to be able to hold that machine. Above the 38mm range would become uncomfortable for people to use.”

This should come as a breath of fresh air when compared to heavier models such as the Gen5Detect that performed brilliantly, but weighed in at a hefty 7.7 pounds.

According to Patel, design is mainly driven by convenience. Gone are the days when people would allocate a ‘cleaning’ day to vacuum their homes. Nowadays, we simply want the convenience of being able to quickly clean up messes without the hassle — especially if you have kids or pets.

“Now we don’t have a specific cleaning day; it becomes more routine,” adds Patel, “We do in much smaller bursts, and convenience becomes a big part of our cleaning habits.”

What's next?

So far, we’ve seen the ‘world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner’, lighter and more robust operation, and longer-running batteries. What else can we expect to see from Dyson vacuum cleaners in the future?

“With Dyson, everything is a surprise, but we really are passionate about reinvention and solving problems that frustrate people”, adds Patel. And those solutions will make us stand above the competition.”

Dyson recently launched its newest innovation the PencilVac, which our Homes editor Millie raved about in her full review. Coined by the premium brand as the "world's slimmest vacuum cleaner", it's got no bin and no handle.

Now, Dyson is making another bold statement, this time with an impressively slim wet floor appliance, aptly named the PencilWash.

Why pencil? Well, Dyson boasts it's got a pencil-thin format that can offer a lighter, slimmer, and smaller solution to wet cleaning. And with a 38mm handle, 2.2kg in weight, and laying flat to just 6 inches / 15cm, these are just three key specs that'll help it achieve its goal.

The PencilWash will be available to buy in the US on March 17th, priced at $349, in Australia on March 5th, priced at AU$499, and the UK will get it a little sooner on February 23rd, priced at £299.99.

Meet the PencilWash

The Dyson PencilWash aims to make wet cleaning a whole lot easier around your home, without compromising on how hygienic it is. That's a big ask, but Dyson has packed in a bunch of specs to make it happen.

John Churchill, Chief Technology Officer at Dyson says: "Using hydration, agitation and extraction, it delivers a hygienic clean with fresh water only, supported by our filter-free system. It brings the simplicity of a broom together with the precision and power from Dyson engineering."

An ultra-slim lightweight handle, just 38mm in diameter, an overall weight of 2.2kg down to just 380g in hand, and the ability to maneuver 170-degrees under low furniture are all ways to zip around your home and clean it up without feeling encumbered.

And, with a 300ml clean water tank, it'll cover up to 100 square meters of flooring. To do the job, though, it's got a 30-minute runtime on a single charge (something you can extend if you purchase an additional battery pack).

Feature-wise, there are two inbuilt hydration modes, adjusting water flow depending on what you're cleaning and how much water you'll need to tackle it.

While I'd quite like a version that could switch between wet and dry floor heads, the sacrifice to achieve its lightweight and pencil-thin look is to get rid of the bin on the handle, and that means that's not quite achievable.

In stripping away these parts, I'm impressed by its almost striking simplicity. It's unassuming whilst hinting at its premium branding with the usual Dyson color palette in play, slotting in nicely with the rest of Dyson's cleaning range.

How does it compare?

It's worth taking a look at the other wet floor cleaners that Dyson already has on offer. Like the WashG1, a beefed up, chunkier, and incredibly powerful alternative, that'll also cost you $399.99/£599.99/AU$999. With a heftier price tag to match its design, you'll get a self-cleaning cycle, up to 35 minutes runtime, and three power modes. But, it won't fit under low furniture like the PencilWash.

Or, the Clean+Wash, costing £429.99 at Dyson, the mid-range hard floor cleaner which boasts the same no filter design and low profile, but it does have the self-clean capability shared with the WashG1.

In comparison then, if you're thinking about grabbing a wet floor cleaner that's easy to whip around the house but you're not too fussed about having it self-clean, the PencilWash is going to tackle awkward spaces with that same quick drying floor finish without a major price tag.

As someone with mainly hard floors in my home, my reliable vacuum cleaner is constantly in use. But, no matter how often I clean, dust balls inevitably reappear, hiding in corners or beneath the sofa shortly after. That’s why one often-underrated feature on my Dyson cordless vacuum has become essential to my cleaning routine.

Admittedly, when Dyson first introduced this feature on select models years ago, I dismissed it as a fancy 'gimmick' that I would never end up using. Additionally, it was pretty hit-and-miss among some consumers who weren't convinced either.

However, after using it in my own home for everyday cleaning, I've become completely reliant on it. Even better, my son finds this a 'fun' feature that has now turned cleaning into something he actually enjoys, and it's so simple.

Dust (busting) detecting laser light

Dyson’s Fluffy Optic head attachment is a simple yet genius feature that I simply can’t clean without. Essentially, this uses a laser to reveal hidden dust lurking in your home that we can’t ordinarily see.

I was first won over after testing the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine Vacuum Cleaner. With this attachment, I was able to swiftly maneuver my cordless vacuum throughout the house, easily spotting concealed dust and debris, especially in hard-to-reach places. It was particularly useful when cleaning late at night or in my poorly lit rooms upstairs, and it soon became my go-to floor head I relied on to clean my home properly — leaving all my other attachments collecting dust (no pun intended).

This green laser light feature has made me realize that my house is not always as clean as I think it is, which resolves my dust-busting anxieties.

It's no surprise that Dyson's newest vacuums, such as the new Piston Animal cordless model (set for an upcoming U.S. launch), concentrate on the laser detection green light integrated into the FluffyCones head.

I absolutely love mine for cleaning under my sofa, bed, corners, or tackling dark spots a breeze — plus, it’s somewhat gratifying to see all the hidden dust specks and grime so you'll never miss a spot.

Perhaps what’s even more gratifying is the fact that my son no longer finds cleaning his room a boring chore. He now happily grabs the vacuum, captivated by the 'cool' green laser light as he dusts his bedroom — a win-win for everyone!

Dyson first announced its game-changing PencilVac Fluffycones back in May 2025, but as of today, it's officially available to buy. According to Dyson, this is the "world's slimmest vacuum cleaner" — a feat that was achieved by removing the bin and handle altogether. Instead, the PencilVac looks like a broom, with control buttons and the waste storage container housed inside the stick itself. Truly, I've never seen anything like it. But how does it perform?

Well, after 10 months of patiently waiting, I got to try the PencilVac in my own home for the month of January, and I was shocked at how easily it replaced by beloved V15 Detect. The PencilVac is more than a concept, it's a fully-fledged hard floor cleaner, with Dyson's fan-favorite laser tech and handy user insights, all displayed on a smart screen on-board the handle.

But while it's far from a gimmick, is it the best vacuum cleaner for you? Here's my verdict.

As with every Dyson product I've tried, the Dyson PencilVac arrived packaged entirely in cardboard and housed securely in a space-efficient box. I was stunned by how narrow even the box itself was, and the assembly instructions were the first thing I spotted when I opened it.

Inside is a handle (which comes in two parts), a Fluffycone roller head that clicks onto said handle, and a charging base. The base slots together in seconds, and has room to store the included dust attachment. I enjoyed that the base was freestanding, and it's been sitting in my kitchen since the day I received the Dyson PencilVac. The vacuum sticks magnetically to the base and its initial charge was complete in under an hour.

You can also pair the Dyson PencilVac with the Dyson app. Now, I'm an app-skeptic at the best of times, and having tested countless gadgets over the years, I have far too many lurking on my phone which haven't made a tangible improvement to how I use the product they're paired to.

I do already use my Dyson app to get my robot vacuum up and running, so while I don't think I'll be checking in on my vacuum's battery level remotely all too often, it's at least not a pain to pair your vacuum to it. And if you do run into problems, the app can help with troubleshooting.

Despite its tiny size, the control panel on the Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is remarkably useful. There's a power button to turn the vacuum on, and then a second button to allow you to toggle between the three settings: Eco, Medium and Boost.

Toggling between the settings is seamless, and unlike most of the vacuums I test, I felt that Eco mode was more than sufficient for my daily cleans.

The vacuum also tells you the time left in your battery, in a countdown, as you switch between settings. Keen to try this out, I turned on the Eco setting from a 100% battery and started a timer while I cleaned.

According to the display, the vacuum had 23 minutes and 9 seconds of use left, and it shut itself off after 23 minutes and 6 seconds, which is startlingly accurate! I found those 23 minutes more than sufficient to clean my entire apartment, so a good portion of that time was spent doing laps of the kitchen.

While it only happened the one time during my testing (and wasn't tricky to fix), when my vacuum became blocked after a particularly in-depth cleaning day, the display showed on-board steps to disassemble the vacuum and locate the blockage. For a display about the size of a coin, that's quite a nifty feature.

Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones: Performance

There is definitely a learning curve to using the Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones. Those four rollers make it feel lightweight to handle, almost like it's floating on air. But sometimes when vacuuming, it's satisfying to feel like you're charging up and down your room in clear, straight lines. Due to just how nimble this vacuum is, it almost felt like I wasn't vacuuming at all.

Fortunately, the proof that the PencilVac really can clean is right where you can see it — inside the handle. It's a little gross, but also very satisfying, to see dirt build up in the PencilVac's handle throughout your clean. After one sweep of my 75 square meter apartment, the vac was 75% full, so if you are working with a larger space you should be prepared to empty it multiple times in one clean.

With four fluffy cone rollers on the cleaning head, and two of Dyson's signature lasers, the PencilVac features a new type of multi-directional cleaning which is also being rolled out on the Dyson's V16 Piston Animal. One feature of this roller type borrows from Dyson's hair screw cleaning tools, picking up hairs and rolling them down to the narrower side of the fluffy roller where, in theory, the vacuum will pick up the clump of hair in one go.

In practice, while this worked well on shorter hair such as pet hair, I found this feature hit-and-miss with longer strands. With larger clumps of hair, the vacuum would occasionally struggle to pick them up altogether, and with smaller clumps it would occasionally resume rolling them down the rollers and out the side of the vacuum once more.

Aside from being disgustingly satisfying, the ability to light the way and identify any missed spots is a genuinely useful feature that you'll enjoy using with this vac. You can also shimmy it to the side and slide it sideways along narrower spots in your home due to the multi-directional cleaning.

Although the vacuum is smaller and lighter, it's not quieter than Dyson's other models. My go-to V15 Detect usually hits 75dB when cleaning with its fluffy roller, and the PencilVac did the same, starting at 72dB on Eco mode and hitting 83dB on its highest setting.

How does it compare?

My usual vacuum is the Dyson V15 Detect, which retails for $850. The Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones is $250 cheaper, but a lot less versatile, with the ability to clean only hard floors and only one extra attachment. With that being said, the PencilVac did a perfectly good job on my low-pile carpets, both in the living room and the kitchen.

Dyson's V16 Piston is not yet available in the U.S., but retails for £250 more in the U.K.. Featuring Dyson's Fluffycone roller head alongside a roller brush for carpets, it could be worth the wait if you're intrigued by the PencilVac but want an option that can tackle a range of floor types.

Should you buy the Dyson PencilVac Fluffycones?

Aside from a large rug in the living room, my apartment is mostly hard floors, which makes the PencilVac Fluffycones perfectly suited to my space. It's especially useful in the kitchen, where I vacuum up crumbs at least daily. However, it's not the vacuum for anyone with a mix of carpet and hard floor. At $599 / £499, there's no point splashing out on such an expensive vacuum if you'll still need another option for some rooms.

I didn't expect to be such a fan of this vacuum, but its mix of ingenuity and genuinely useful features makes it hard to critique. It's nimble, enjoyable to use, and makes (literally) light work of my daily run-around.

When it comes to some of the best vacuum cleaners, it seems not a day goes by when Dyson isn’t rolling out a new model. So it comes as no surprise to learn that Dyson has quietly released a new, innovative cordless — and it’s cheaper than the rest (yes, you heard right).

The PencilVac Fluffy is now on sale for $449 at Dyson, and it's essentially a modified PencilVac Fluffycones — claimed to be the ‘world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner’. The only difference is that it comes with a micro fluffy clean head design rather than a conical-shaped type.

Perhaps what’s more appealing is the PencilVac Fluffy's super-slim profile. At just 1.5 inches wide and 45 inches tall, it’s the perfect size for fitting into narrow spots and storing in small storage spaces or apartments. It also weighs just 2.9 pounds, which makes carrying it around the home literally a breeze.

Similar to its predecessor, the Dyson PencilVac Fluffy is packed with new ground-breaking features such as an advanced motor and syringe bin emptying (for less dust clouds), that's all in the handle. And at $100 less (for all this tech), I’d say this is a real steal.

What you need to know about the Dyson PencilVac Fluffy

There’s much to like about the PencilVac Fluffy. First, its ergonomic and lightweight design is a dream for those with compact homes and tiny utility cupboards. And despite its humble appearance, it boasts impressive power, thanks to its 28mm ‘Hyperdymion’ 140K motor located in the handle — the brand’s smallest motor yet.

With its soft ‘Fluffy’ head cleaner, this is designed for hardwood cleaning, preventing the risk of scratching while sucking up debris and fine dust. And if, like me, you were wondering where the signature dust-canister is, you’ll be glad to learn that it’s also hidden and out of sight.

Its clever, air-compressing bin design allows it to compress dust into its tiny, 0.08L capacity, allowing it to hold up to five times more dirt and debris. What’s more, its ‘syringe action’ bin-emptying system prevents dust particles from escaping into the air and, more importantly, saves you many trips to empty the trash.

The PencilVac Fluffy also comes with a compact magnetic charging dock with tool storage, so you can quickly grab-and-go when you need.

Better still, it comes with a handy Bluetooth option that connects to the MyDyson app (unlike older cordless models). So now, you’re able to receive real-time reports, alerts and all types of useful information on your phone.

Honestly, considering it's $100 cheaper than the PencilVac and still has the cutting-edge tech you need, this is a real bargain.

As a Homes Editor, I get my pick of robot vacuums to review and (sometimes) keep. But of all the models I've tested, it's Dyson's 360 Vis Nav that made a permanent home in my living room. I've been using it daily since I tested it in early 2024, and it's yet to let me down. The only major downside is the massive $1,000 price tag, which is why this 60% Holiday saving is astoundingly good.

Dyson's 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum is 60% off at Amazon right now, down to $399 from $999. That's a huge saving on this compact, capable and stylish vac that tucks neatly under my living room console and diligently picks up after me every morning (at 10am, to be exact).

It's a Christmas miracle

The 360 Vis Nav was released in early 2024, and features Dyson's iconic piezo sensor, which monitors and reports on dust leves, automatically increasing suction power when it detects more dust.

One of my favorite things about this vacuum is that it learns about your home over time, automatically adjusting suction levels in areas which pick up a lot of footfall, and predicting the dust level based on how long it's been since your last clean. Whenever it approaches my busy living room walkway it automatically kicks into high gear, anticipating a higher level of dust and crumbs.

With a saving of $600, you might be wondering: Why the big price cut? If I had to guess, I'd say it's because Dyson's new robot vacuum, the Spot+Scrub Ai wet and dry robot vacuum cleaner, comes out in the new year. We don't know the U.S. pricing yet, but in the U.K. it costs only £50 more than the Vis Nav, which doesn't make much sense given the huge gulf in capabilities between the two models.

That doesn't mean it's not worth buying the Vis Nav, though. At $400, I think it's a fantastic option for the price. Plus, the Spot+Scrub is so, so huge, and caters to an entirely different market with its wet and dry cleaning.

If, like me, you have mainly hard flooring, wet floor cleaners can be a real timesaver when doing housework. And while I love mine for its powerful cleaning and relief from the back-breaking task of mopping, the only thing I hate is the appliance maintenance and intricate cleaning that comes afterwards.

That’s why I was so excited to learn of Dyson’s new Clean+Wash Hygiene — which could solve my biggest woes. This isn't Dyson's first wet floor cleaner, but it's got some welcome upgrades over its predecessor, the Dyson WashG1, which I had put to the test in my home and rated as one of the best vacuum cleaners. This upgraded model comes with three key features to improve usability and tackle the ‘mucky’ maintenance side of things. Here’s everything you need to know.

1. It has no filter or pipes to eliminate dirty streaks

Since I test wet floor cleaners for a living, one common problem I see is rogue dirt smears left on floors after cleaning. The Dyson Clean+Wash tackles this by integrating its dirty water filter into the cleaner head — rather than inside the machine.

Essentially, the cleaner head captures and holds all the mucky waste so that any dirt won’t travel upwards and build-up in the internal pipes.

Another notable feature is that it has no filter that tends to trap dirt and give off bad smells over time. All of which can make the whole cleaning experience bothersome — and something I would avoid as long as possible.

2. It self-cleans and can dry its roller with hot air

Another impressive upgrade is the Clean+ Wash's ability to dry its roller with hot air after it self-cleans. Now, the wet roller can be dried with 185 °F hot air, which is a far more hygienic way to prevent bacteria growth on the roller and of course, combat smelly odors. What's more, it will be dry and ready for your next clean, without leaving sopping puddles on the floors, which is always a bonus.

And while its predecessor, the WashG1, already had a self-cleaning function to run clean water over the dirty roller, it couldn't dry. Making this feature a useful improvement and less maintenance in the long-term.

3. It's super lightweight and has a low profile

Another gripe of mine when it comes to handling wet floor cleaners is the weight. This is especially when I have to travel up and down my stairs. In fact, I found this to be the case when carrying a hefty WashG1 around my home.

The new Clean+Wash, however, is designed to be lightweight and low profile. In fact, at just 3.82kg, Dyson claims this to be "one of the lightest and lowest profile wet and dry cleaners on the market", which would be a plus for homes with multiple floors.

Perhaps one feature that caught my attention is its ability to lie flat to just 113mm, to easily get under low sofas, beds, and furniture. Again, that was another problem I faced with the WashG1, in tackling awkward spaces and properly getting under my low-rise sofa.

When can I buy the Dyson Clean+Wash wet floor cleaner?

Sadly, those in the US will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on Dyson's Clean+Wash wet floor cleaner as it won't be available to buy until 2026. But we will be sure to update you as soon as we hear more.

As we all know, Dyson makes some of the best vacuum cleaners around, and it's bringing its A-game into 2026. The brand first announced its PencilVac back in May, but it's not slated for release until next year. Touted as the "world's slimmest vacuum cleaner," its handle is just 38mm thick and doubles as a bin, with an ejector function that makes it easy to empty between cleans.

It sounds ground-breaking, but can it deliver? I recently got the chance to try the PencilVac hands-on at Dyson HQ ahead of its release, and here's what I thought.

Three things I like

It's got those signature Dyson lasers

With four conical "Fluffycones", the PencilVac cleans from every direction. Its combined spinning creates a levitating effect which makes the vacuum super easy to maneuver.

In my demo, I was able to glide over the floors of the Dyson showroom, while the multi-dimensional lasers on the cleaning head illuminated everything in my path.

It did a decent job of picking up crumbs, too. I particularly enjoyed how the brush extends right to the very edge of the cleaning head, meaning you can run the vacuum up against baseboards or kitchen cabinets without missing any dust or debris.

It comes with handy attachments

You will never catch me complaining when a vacuum comes with a dock. Maybe I'm commitment-phobic, or maybe I just test too many vacuums, but the idea of drilling a vacuum mount onto my wall always fills me with dread. I'd much rather have a sleek stand to prop up my vac, and the PencilVac's stand even comes with storage for its many attachments.

One of the best attachments I spotted for the Dyson PencilVac is a versatile dusting brush, which you can use on walls, behind furniture and even on top of wardrobes.

It's an ergonomic dream

The thing that excites me the most about the PencilVac isn't even the user experience, it's the fact that Dyson thought of it. It's something we've seen across the floorcare space time and time again: some of the most exciting tech continually comes from Dyson, and I think the removal of a bin is no exception.

According to the engineer who was explaining the new vac to me, James Dyson was keen to minic the design of the Dyson Airwrap in the PencilVac. The handle on both is exactly the same diameter: 38mm / 1.1 inches. This is, apparently, the ideal width to combine comfort and ergonomics, meaning it's a product you'll go back to using time and time again.

At first, it did feel a bit weird not having conventional handle to grip onto, but it didn't take long for me to get very comfortable using the PencilVac.

Dyson had to put its dust bin somewhere, and with the removable of a dedicated canister, the handle was the only space left! It's incredibly limited in size, with a capacity of 0.08-liters. But to be fair to Dyson, it does have a compacting feature which allows you to make the most of every inch of space.

I'm going to have to take the PencilVac for a spin in my own home to see how far that waste container will really take you, but on first impressions, it's best suited to kitchens and small, hard-floor apartments (like mine).

One thing I don't

I'm not convinced by its Conical Fluffycones

I wasn't totally convinced by the way the PencilVac handles hair. According to Dyson, the cones will grip onto hairs and then roll them down to the end of the Fluffycone where it will spit it out like a strange kind of hairball. Then, in theory, the vac will suck it straight up.

Except it didn't always manage to do this when I tried it out on hair in the Dyson showroom. The clumps of hair would be sucked up, spat out, then sucked up again in an increasingly large ball of hair. This then made it harder and harder for the vac to actually suck it up, as you need to get past the roller and into the base of the vac to suck up debris.

It worked sometimes, and to be fair to Dyson, we were using ambitiously-sized clumps of artificial hair, but I'll have to give this feature a try in my own home to see if it really works or not.

Availability

Dyson says the PencilVac will be out in 2026 in both the U.K. and the U.S., but there's no word on price just yet. I think the price will be a huge factor in whether or not I can recommend this vacuum, because Dyson's new Piston vacuum also features its new Fluffycones, but with the inclusion of a conventional dust cup and a range of attachments for every floor.

I'll be testing the new PencilVac ahead of its full launch next year, but do I want one in my own home? Absolutely.

The Dyson Supersonic r hair dryer gets full marks for performance. It's everything you could want from a Dyson hair tool: powerful, attractive and quiet.

I've been testing the Dyson Supersonic r for a few months now on my fine, curly hair, and =this hair dryer is one of the fastest and quietest dryers I've ever come across. It's no wonder it was initially designed to be used in professional hair salons! I'd make a terrible hairdresser, but if I were going to hold a hair tool for hours at a time the Supersonic r is the one I'd choose. However, it has a very bulky plug that would make it tricky to take on vacation and may struggle to fit into some plug sockets.

But with a top-notch Dyson product comes a daunting price tag, and for the average buyer, the cost of the Supersonic r may prove hard to justify—especially when the brand already makes an amazing hair dryer that's $100 cheaper. Is it right for you? Find out with my full review.

Dyson Supersonic r: Price and Availability

The Dyson Supersonic r is eye-wateringly expensive: $649 at Dyson, or £449 in the UK.

It comes in two versions: one for those with Straight + Wavy hair, and one for Curly + Coily hair.

With the Curly + Coily version, you get five attachments: the Powerful Air Attachment, Pro Concentrator, Diffuser, Flyaway Attachment and Wide-Tooth Comb.

With the Straight + Wavy version, you also get five attachments, a number of which are the same: Powerful Air Attachment, Pro Concentrator, Gentle Air Attachment, Flyaway Attachment, Smoothing Nozzle.

Basically, if you buy the Straight + Wavy version, you get a couple of additional concentrators, and with the Curly + Coily version you get a diffuser for drying curls, and a comb for stretching out coils. Both cost the same and come in the same range of colors.

I tested the Supersonic r in the Ceramic Pink/Rose Gold colorway, and it's a knockout. I was so charmed from the second I opened the box. You can see why it's called the Supersonic r — it's curved like a lower-case r, with a very lightweight body that can kick up a lot of power, very fast.

Dyson Supersonic r review: Performance

I've got tricky hair, which makes it great for testing hair dryers. It's curly, it's thick but fine, it tangles easily, and with some serious taming it can look glossy and sleek. Until it senses humidity in the air, when it bounces right back into a cloud of frizz.

I tested the Curly + Coily iteration of the Supersonic r. If they'd done a Wavy + Curly version, that probably would've been best for my light and frizz-prone 2C to 3A hair type. But the only attachment I'm unable to give a proper verdict on is the wide-tooth comb, which is best suited to coily hair.

If you would use the comb to dry your hair, one major thing to consider is that it's so lightweight, which would make it ideal for drying textured hair, which can typically take longer than finer textures.

Diffuser

Dyson's diffusers are great. Very lightweight, wide, with a low profile. However, I actually prefer the Supersonic Nural's diffuser to the Supersonic r. It has a removable insert that allows you to detach the prongs, turning the diffuser into more of a bowl shape that's great for waves. It's a shame Dyson didn't add this feature to the Supersonic r, especially as it's the more premium of the two dryers.

That's not to detract from how good this diffuser is, though. The main thing I've found since switching to the Supersonic r is that it's just so quiet. I measured it at around 65dB on low speed, which is about the same as a noisy air fryer.

Anyone with curls will know that you can spend hours, sometimes with your head tipped uncomfortably upside down, gently drying your curls on a low speed and heat setting so as not to disturb their natural pattern. And when your hair dryer is so loud that you can't so much as listen to music while you dry, that becomes a problem.

With the Supersonic r, I was able to listen to a few songs on the Wicked soundtrack while gently diffusing my curls. And I was pretty happy with the result, too.

The picture above was taken after about 15 minutes of low-heat, low-speed hair drying. I wish I could say I always had that much patience, but I was happy with the definition I was able to achieve when I whacked the temperature and speed up and blasted my hair dry. There was a bit more frizz, but if you're in a hurry, this dryer is up to the task.

Blow-drying

Growing up with knot-prone hair and no concept of a diffuser, I rarely used a hair dryer. My mom's model, even with its concentrator attachment, would immediately turn my hair into a tangled cloud. It's lucky I ended up testing hair dryers for work or I may never have learned that hair dryers aren't meant to do that. And thankfully, the Supersonic r doesn't.

To test its capacilities on less curly hair, I brushed my wet hair and then blasted on high heat and speed using the Powerful Air Attachment. When it hit 50% dry, I then switched to the concentrator attachment and used a hairbrush to try and get my hair looking sleek and shiny.

At high heat and speed, the noise level was in the mid 70dB range. I could still listen to Wicked, but if I'd opted for a podcast, I may have missed some of it.

The Supersonic r has a Cold Shot button, which is great for locking in shine and sealing the hair follicle. Without this, I find that my hair looks and feels frazzled for a few hours after I've blow-dried it. It's like it needs the cool air to relax. So I'm glad that Dyson included this feature with the Supersonic r.

However, if you do struggle with frizz, there's an attachment for that. It's called the Flyaway Attachment, and it uses a jet of concentrated air to pick up longer strands of hair and direct them smoothly along the surface of the hair. It's meant to hide flyaways using Dyson's Coanda Effect.

You can see in the photo above how my hair looked before and after using this attachment. My hair is a frizz magnet; this was it on a good day. I don't think the Flyaway Attachment got rid of every rogue strand, but the hair definitely looked more professionally finished after a few passes with this tool.

From start to finish, this took me around 20 minutes. But keep in mind, I have very thick and high-maintenance hair. Typically, a style like this would take me half an hour to achieve. So while 20 minutes doesn't sound speedy, think about how long your hair usually takes to go from wet to dry with a hair dryer, and cut it by a third. That's roughly what I got with the Supersonic r.

My boyfriend's hair is dry in under two minutes when he uses this hair dryer, and he gets heaps of volume at the roots from its powerful airflow.

A note on attachments

One thing I found when switching attachments is that this hair dryer needs an attachment in-place to work. If you don't have a go-to attachment in place (for me, that's the Powerful Air Attachment), it won't work. And you need to remove this attachment to add in the concentrator, or diffuser, or any other attachment.

That's got the potential to be problematic because if you lose an attachment or forget to pack one when you travel, you simply won't be able to use the hair dryer. Most hair dryers are able to be switched on and off with nothing in place, so this will be a slight learning curve for some.

How does it compare?

I've also tested Dyson's Supersonic Nural hair dryer, and it's also excellent.

At full price, the Supersonic r is $100 more expensive than the Nural. If you're shopping in the U.K., it's only £50 more expensive. So what sets these two dryers apart?

Mainly, it's the physical design. The Supersonic r is lighter, with the addition of a hefty plug that removes a lot of the primary electronics that would otherwise be housed in the dryer itself. This essentially redistributes 50% of the weight of the product into the plug, making the Supersonic r a more lightweight option. But the plug also makes it annoying to store and plug.

And as I've already mentioned, I think the Nural has a slightly better diffuser for those with wavy hair. It can be separated into two parts, allowing you to use the base as a bowl and pop in big handfuls of hair at a time. You get less definition, but it's super speedy.

Other differences include a longer cord on the Supersonic r — it's just under a foot longer — which is testament to the fact that it was designed with hair stylists in mind.

They're both great dryers, but considering how great the Supersonic Nural is, I don't know if you need to splash the extra cash to get the Supersonic r. In my opinion, it's the nicer of the two dryers, but I don't know if it makes a significant enough difference in performance to warrant the extra money.

Should you buy the Dyson Supersonic r?

If you're looking for the best of the best and the cost wouldn't make your eyes water, there's no reason for me to not recommend the Dyson Suersonic r. It's truly a great hair dryer: lightweight, quiet, powerful. It's also got an impressive range of high-quality attachments to suit every hair type, and because you can buy the correct model for your specific texture, you won't be left with some random attachments you'll never use sitting in a drawer somewhere.

While there's no reason not to buy the Supersonic r, I still think I'd opt for the Supersonic Nural if I were choosing one to buy. The Supersonic r offers some key benefits for professionals due to its lighter and slightly quieter design, but whether this warrants the extra $100 in cost will depend on just how much time you spend drying your (or others') hair. Pardon the pun, but if there's a difference between the two dryers' performance, it’s only by a hair.

If you’ve been hunting for a lightweight, but powerful vacuum cleaner, you’ve found it with the Dyson V9. Weighing just 4.6 pounds, it’s lighter than the majority of vacuum cleaners we’ve tested but still busts dust with ease.

This is a well-loved vacuum cleaner — one user on Dyson’s website wrote that this was a “Super vacuum! Lightweight, easy maneuverability, really makes a chore a pleasure!” This model released in June 2025 and doesn’t have a ton of Amazon reviews under its belt yet, but it has earned a solid 4.1 star rating so far.

The Dyson V9 is also rated for 40 minutes of cleaning time on a charge. That equals our favorite vacuum cleaner on the market, the Shark Clean & Empty Cordless. One snag is that you have to hold the trigger down to activate the vacuum during the entire clean, which could get tiring if you regularly run your vacuum for the full 40 minutes.

I've been covering Black Friday for over a decade and in my opinion Dyson tends to offer great Black Friday deals. This year, they've gone above and beyond with an epic discount on their premium robot vacuum.

Today only, you can get the Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robot Vacuum for just $399 at Dyson. That's $600 off and the biggest price drop I've ever seen for this premium vacuum. The catch? This deal ends tonight.

My colleague, Millie Fender, tested this vacuum in her home and found that it switches between rugs and hard floors seamlessly. In other standardized tests, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav did a great job on small debris and pet hair, but it was weakest in our large debris tests. However, it still achieved at least 89% pickup in every test, and thanks to its lifetime HEPA filter which seals in 99.99% of particles, it would be ideal for pet owners.

The Dyson has four cleaning modes: Boost, Quiet, Quick, and Auto. We used all them in our testing, but Auto is the one you'll probably use for most days. This mode automatically adjusts suction based on the level of debris the vacuum is working on, which is a smart use of its time and energy.

There are some downsides to this vacuum. For example, it can't mop, it can't self-empty, it can't show live views of your home, and it can't self-clean. It's also pricey at $999. But at $399 — this is an absolute Black Friday steal!

There's only so much you can do with a pair of headphones if you want them to look different. After all, you need a pair of earcups and a headband, or they're just not going to work. Or you'll end up with earbuds. The Dyson OnTrac do everything they can to be different while adhering to that headphone archetype, and I think they're one of the "funnest" sets of headphones as a result.

They're also an excellent price at the moment, thanks to a massive 50% reduction. You can grab the Dyson OnTrac for just $249 at Amazon, their lowest price ever. Even U.K. buyers can nab a deal, although it's not quite as juicy. You can buy the Dyson OnTrack for £320 at Amazon U.K. — that's a £120 saving.

They might not rank amongst the best headphones, but they're still a wonderful set of cans. Their design is the most divisive part of the package. I really like the combination of strange shapes and materials — it makes them look like they're from the future, like you've stepped straight out of Night City. Other users might see them as unsightly or too loud; your mileage may vary.

The most interesting thing about the Ontrac is the tech inside. Dyson has packed them with interesting data readouts so that you can see the noise levels outside, how much noise the headphones have been able to block, and how loud your music has been. It's a clear way to view your listening habits, and might even be enough to persuade you to turn the volume down now and again.

They're pretty comfortable, thanks to soft earcups and decent clamping force, and the ANC is on par with the best noise-canceling headphones. Their sound is where they fall, but you can adjust it to your liking in the Dyson app. I really like the OnTrac, even when they're full price — so at this price, they're a noise-canceling no-brainer.

If you know anything about hair styling, you've probably heard of the Dyson Airwrap. And if you've been putting off buying one because of the eye-watering price tag, now's your moment.

Dyson is a brand well known for its high-quality vacuum cleaners and has revolutionized the way we clean. And staying with the same theme, the brand also produces some of the best air purifiers.

However, one problem is finding an air purifier that doesn’t encroach on your space and is quiet, especially if you plan to run it at night. Dyson has addressed these issues with the launch of the new HushJet Purifier Compact. As the name suggests, it’s small and mighty.

Dyson claims it’s the “most powerful small-format purifier yet”, and it’s engineered for whisper-quiet operation, whole-room purification with a filter that lasts five times longer.

Works quietly to remove allergens

So what makes the design of the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact special?

“We have developed a way to smooth high-speed airflow to minimise turbulence and reduce aerodynamic noise, allowing the Dyson HushJet to deliver very high-volume airflow while generating minimal noise,” says James Dyson, founder of Dyson.

Running at just 24dB while in Sleep mode, it makes it incredibly quiet. But apart from dropping the noise while you sleep, I can see the real benefit of running a quiet air purifier in the background while you’re working remotely. After all, nobody wants a loud appliance breaking their flow. So, whether you’re resting or working, it will capture airborne allergens like pollen, dust, and pet dander, reducing sniffles, dry throats, and itchy eyes.

Aside from being whisper-quiet, the air purifier is also small, although it doesn’t lack power. “We have transformed the compact purifier, creating our most efficient small-format machine yet, which captures 99.97% of pollutants as small as 0.3 microns,” Dyson adds.

Measuring 17.7in (45cm) x 9.05in (23cm) x 9.05in (23cm) — about the size of a small bedside table — and weighing 7.7lbs (3.5kg), it can cover a room up to 228 sq ft.

Design change

The new HushJet Air Purifier Compact also marks a shift for Dyson, moving away from its iconic Air Multiplier technology to what it calls a “sculptural HushJet entrainment nozzle,” which it says delivers stronger projection through airflow amplification. This involves entraining the surrounding air as the high-speed jet of air exits the nozzle. In simpler terms, Dyson describes it “like a concentrator on a hairdryer, increasing the velocity of the airflow — meaning faster, more powerful purification.”

We’ll report back once we get our hands on Dyson’s latest release and put it through our own testing to let you know if we achieve an undisturbed, allergy-free night’s sleep.

So, when Dyson announced its latest robot vacuum at IFA 2025, we were all excited. Could this finally be the answer to Dyson's robot vacuum problems?

Cue the new Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai — the brand's very first wet and dry robot vacuum, and an upgrade of its predecessor, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav. What’s more, this new and improved robot vacuum and mop hybrid promises a more AI-intelligent and hassle-free cleaning experience. So what exciting, key changes has the brand made, and what can we expect? Here’s everything you need to know.

1. AI-intelligent stain and object detection

Perhaps one of my favorite features on a few of Dyson’s stick vacuums is its green-laser detection. Essentially, this laser light technology reveals hidden dust particles lurking in your home that we can’t ordinarily see. Since I use my Dyson V15s Detect Submarine Vacuum Cleaner often, this clever feature has never let me down, allowing a thorough clean — never missing a spot.

So I was excited to learn that the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai has adopted this same technology by combining AI vision and ‘green light illumination’ to detect invisible stains and objects. Thanks to its advanced camera it will react and quickly adapt to the type of stain, repeatedly going over it until completely removed. Result!

In addition, the Spot+Scrub Ai is able to identify 200 types of household substances and objects, and navigate around them. So you’ll never have to worry about cables or kids socks being in its path or disrupting your cleaning session.

What’s more, it empties dry debris into a cyclonic, bagless bin that holds dust and debris for up to 100 days — saving you the many trips to empty out in the trash bin.

2. Self-cleaning wet roller

Nobody likes the thought of dirty or smelly mop rollers, and it’s important to ensure your best robot mop is kept in tip-top condition.

The new Spot+Scrub comes with a 12-point hydration system to ensure your wet roller cleans itself after every rotation. Essentially, this delivers fresh heated water while its integrated roller simultaneously lifts and removes stubborn dirt and stains. So you’ll never have to worry about spotting dirty streaks or marks on your flooring after cleaning.

3. Edge-to-edge-cleaning

One of my gripes with robot vacuums is that it never quite gets into those awkward corners or cleans the edges properly, without scattering debris.

However, the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai comes with an extending roller up to 40mm to allow it to reach edges, and tackle baseboards with ease. This would be an improvement from the Dyson 360 Vis Nav, as I found during testing that it couldn't quite get into the corners of my rooms. I noticed it had missed some of the dust in my bathroom corners, despite doing an excellent job on the baseboards.

Of course, you can sync and utilize your robot vac from your MyDyson app, setting up targeted spot cleans and specific schedules. The robot also generates a “Clean Map” after every session, showing where objects were encountered and how clean (or filthy) your floors were before and after.

When can you buy the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai?

Sadly, those in the U.S. will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on one, as the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai won't be available until 2026.

Needless to say, I’ll be very interested to see the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai in action, and we will be reviewing a model as soon as we can get our hands on one. Watch this space for more updates and pricing info as soon as they come in.

One thing I love is a home appliance that promises to do it all. I tried the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 out for a month, putting it through its paces to really test whether it’s worth the investment. I moved it between my living room, home office, and kitchen to see how well it tackled everything from cooking odours to dog dander. I monitored how quickly it heated and cooled the room down, and of course, the air quality. The big question is, can it really do it all and do it well, or is it a case of style over substance? Here’s what happened.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: Price and availability

The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 has been around in the US for a couple of months and is currently retailing at $659.99 direct from Dyson. You can also purchase the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 via Amazon, for the same price.

It launched this September in the UK and you can buy it for £549.99 from Dyson. It also comes with a two-year guarantee that covers parts, repairs, and replacement if your unit is unrepairable.

Whilst you won’t need to think about it for the first year, Dyson does recommend changing the 360° glass HEPA and activated carbon filter every 12 months or when notified by your machine if it’s needed sooner. This is going to set you back $79.99 or £75 if in the UK.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: Design

If there is one thing that Dyson does better than any other company, it’s make household appliances look good. And the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 has the signature Dyson look: modern, sleek, and instantly recognizable. It follows the same oval loop design as other air purifiers and fans in the Dyson line-up, so it’s certainly a design you’ve seen before.

I was taken aback at how big it first appeared. I’ve never owned a Dyson before, so looking at the photographs, I thought that it would be a little smaller. Standing at 77cm tall, this is a machine that will get noticed, but it does have a slim, sphere base, which means it doesn’t take up too much floor space. It’s not heavy either, at 5.3kg, it’s light enough to be able to move it from room to room or between floors with little effort.

It comes in a white finish, although black is available in the US, and there is a small LED display to the front which will give you everything you need to know, including air quality, filter life, fan speed, and temperature. The controls are kept to a minimum with just an on/off button, as it can be controlled via the remote or the MyDyson app. The remote is small, but if you’re like me and forever losing remotes, you’ll be impressed to hear that it’s magnetised and attaches to the top of the purifier, so when it’s not in use, it’s much harder to lose. The remote is straightforward to use with all the buttons clearly labelled.

Another standout design feature is its wide oscillation. This machine can rotate up to 350º, meaning air will circulate to all corners of the room. You can also tilt the loop to be able to direct the airflow where you want it, but this feature isn’t really needed with the oscillation being so wide.

The filter sits inside the base and is completely sealed. It can be opened up by pressing the two push buttons on either side of the base, making changing the filter completely hassle-free.

Whilst Dyson hasn’t had a design shake-up with this air purifier, you’d be hard-pushed to tell the difference between other models. It does tick both the stylish and functional boxes. I was impressed at how seamlessly it blended into each room I placed it in.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: Set-up and use

The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 arrived in a simple, but branded cardboard box. The box is quite big, but I was easily able to lift it out. I was impressed by the packaging too, apart from a couple of plastic coverings, everything was recyclable and fit in my main recycle bag at home, so total win if you don’t want boxes hanging around your house for weeks.

The main unit was already attached, so the only thing to do was to place the filter inside. These go into the base of the unit, so once the stickers holding the base together are removed, just clip the filter in, plug in the machine, and you’re ready to begin the set-up.

Set-up was surprisingly easy. I always dread anything you have to set up with an app because for some reason, it takes ten times longer, but this was a really quick process. I scanned the QR code on the front of the machine and downloaded the app, once the Wi-Fi was connected, it instantly detected the fan and connected it to my devices.

You can, of course, just control it with the remote control, this already has batteries included, so it’s just a case of turning it on and switching to the setting you want to use. To be honest, if you’re going to enjoy the full benefits of it, download the app so you can control it from anywhere, which is handy if you want to warm up or cool down a room before use.

Having tested other air purifiers in the past, including the Mila, this is the easiest and simplest set-up I’ve experienced, taking under five minutes of coming out of the box. Probably the biggest hurdle was learning what all the functions are, and even that didn’t take too long.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: Performance

Testing air purifier

I put the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 to the test in the four main areas of my home: the living room, my home office, the kitchen, and the bedroom, to really test its performance.

I’ve been using the Mila air purifier for a while, and that usually tells me that the air quality isn’t very good, so I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the air quality came up as good in each of the rooms I tried it in. With all rooms reading as good, I initially started to worry that the air purifier was faulty or I’d left plastic on the filter (something I’ve done before), but I realised that’s not the case.

The Dyson purifies the room with an activated carbon filter which has been enriched with Tris, a chemical that captures gases and 99.97% of pollutants. And this air purifier works so fast, it brings the air quality down to good in mere minutes.

I tested this theory in a couple of ways. First, I lit two large, scented candles and left them by the machine. This didn’t spike the air quality as much as I thought it would, but having looked into it, the Dyson has the sensors on the bottom, so it would’ve already filtered the air by the time it had sucked it in.

My next test was with room spray. I gave my living room a good spritz around, and the air quality went instantly went into the red zone, which is very poor, and the fans kicked in to start bringing the air quality back to green. It took just seconds to go from very poor to good, and I felt the difference in the air too. Normally, the room spray will make me cough and splutter, but it totally neutralised it and left the air feeling fresh.

Another test was during cooking. I grabbed my cast iron pan, which creates a lot of smoke, and started to fry an egg in oil. Usually, that smell lingers for hours, but the Dyson ran throughout. Not only did it limit the smoke but also neutralized cooking odors, leaving the kitchen feeling fresh and clean. Checking the history on the app, you can see where the PM2.5 and PM10’s rose during those times, before the fans kicked in on auto function to keep the air quality in a good range.

Testing heater and cooling fan

My next tests were for the heater and cooling fan performances. It has 290 litres per second of powerful airflow and it really does feel like it, but because of the bladeless design it feels more natural.

Again, I tested it in different rooms, and the results didn’t disappoint. I’ll start with the cooling fan which can bring the temp of your room down to 33 degrees Fahrenheit. When I first tried it, I didn’t think that it really got that cold, but the trick was putting it on top speed and then reducing it when the cold air kicked in.

The fan speed affects how strong the cooling sensation feels rather than being able to set a certain temperature. The great thing about this cooling fan is that it feels more like a breeze (especially when the oscillation is on) rather than it just blowing directly onto you.

Similarly, the heat setting can get your room up to 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Trust me when I say, it heats up quickly and it maintains the temperature for ages. This is because the heat element uses ceramic plates, and the heat felt more like a nice, warm breeze rather than oppressive heat like when using a space heater. I set it up in my living room, which is a little compact to say the least, and it heated up within five minutes. This is good news as it means that it’s more cost-effective than putting the central heating on for the whole house.

Whether it’s air purifying, cooling, or heating, the Dyson works really quickly and efficiently. The built-in sensors and automatic adjustments make it so convenient and efficient. Plus, having the option to control it from anywhere via the app is a really nice touch.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: App

The app is where the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 really excels. In fact, it’s the key to getting the most out of this machine.

Downloading the app is quick and easy, and it’s available on all platforms. The only thing I found was that sometimes there was a little bit of lag between my app and the machine, but that is most likely down to my Wi-Fi signal rather than the machine itself.

Inside the app, you’ll find everything you need to know about the air quality in your home. It updates the air quality every 30 seconds, so you get a real-time view of what’s going on. Although, I will say that the purifier works so well with this machine that you’ll rarely see anything but “good” pop up on the screen.

Additionally, it gives you the overall air quality report, which ranges from severe to good. There’s an auto-target setting, which when in auto mode means your machine will automatically increase its fan speed and start purifying the air when it notices air pollution going above a certain level.

It monitors the PM2.5 and PM10 levels. PM2.5 is when microscopic particles are smaller than 2.5 microns, this is usually smoke, cooking smells, candles burning, or room sprays. Then PM10 is when microscopic particles are smaller than 10 microns, this includes pollen, pet dander and other allergens. It also gives a chart of the indoor temperature in your room.

The app allows you to fully control your machine. It has an on/off button and night mode. Night mode is great if you want to continue to use the air purifier whilst you sleep, it dims the LED screen and reduces the fan speed so that you’re not disturbed whilst you try to sleep.

You can turn the heater or the fan on and set it to a desired temperature. Once it reaches the temp you’ve set, the machine will auto switch off and only turn back on when it drops below that level. My favourite feature is how you can control the oscillation. The machine can oscillate up to 350º and you can set it in increments of 45º, 90º, 180º and 350º. But the clever thing the app allows you to do is drag the oscillation to where you want it to be directed. So whether that’s direct in front of you or a certain area of the room. It’s a really clever feature because it gives you more control over where you can place your fan, instead of having to have it close to you.

There is a timer function. You can time it to switch off anywhere between 15 minutes and 9 hours. If you want to create a schedule for your air purifier, this can also be done in the app. You can choose to turn your machine on at specific days and times.

If you use a voice assistant like Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Siri, then you can pair it with that. I tested it out with Siri and you can add a variety of different commands such as Turn on the heat, Turn on cooling, Say goodnight etc. You can set these commands up to be whatever you want and it was really easy to do, just add the settings and record the phrase you want to use in conjunction. This worked really well some of the time, but that’s mostly down to Siri as half of the time it doesn’t understand me anyway (not sure if it’s the Welsh accent or I just don’t speak very clearly).

The app is optional but in my opinion, it’s absolutely essential to ensure that you can use your machine in the best way possible. It’s free to use and if you have a smartphone, there’s no harm in downloading it and giving it a try.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review:Noise levels

One thing I hate about having a fan on during the summer months is the noise. I can’t stand the sound of a fan whirling away in the background, and would actually prefer to just be too hot. So when I read that the Dyson had ten fan settings, I thought there was no way that I’d be turning it up to ten, no matter how hot or cold I was, purely because of the noise.

Well, I’m happy to admit that I was wrong. Even at full speed, this unit doesn’t get too loud. Dyson say that it reaches 63dB but at full speed I didn’t have to turn the TV up, of course I could hear it for anyone out there worried about my ear health but it just wasn’t that annoying. At the lower speeds, it was barely noticeable. This makes it a great choice for anyone who likes to have the fan on whilst they sleep or work because there are no distractions at all.

Not the most scientific test, but I popped my Apple Watch on and sat next to the fan to see what kind of sound level it picked up. At the lowest fan setting it didn’t even register, but I was not too shocked to see that even at full speed it was as Dyson states just 63dB.

If you’re a very light sleeper, then maybe it would be too disruptive, but for the average person, you’ll hardly notice it on other than feeling that rush of warm or cold air.

It is worth noting that whilst it monitors air quality, it doesn’t make any noise, so if you want to keep an eye on your stats, you don’t have to have the fans running, it will just keep a check on the quality but not actually purify the air.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: Storage and maintenance

When it comes to maintenance, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is pretty straightforward. Even though it doesn’t have blades, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t still attract dust, so it is important to regularly wipe the outside of your machine with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. I personally do this every week because it just stops dust from building and causing any blockages, which can affect the performance of the machine.

The major maintenance comes with the filter. It comes with a 360° HEPA + Activated carbon filter, which needs to be replaced every 12 months or sooner if needed. Once the filter needs replacing, the LED screen to the front of the unit and the App will send a notification. In the app, if you navigate to machine settings, it will tell you how much of your filter life is remaining, this is handy as you can at least get a head start on when you need to start budgeting for a new one. You can also order a new filter via the app so you know you’ll be getting the right one for your machine.

The process of changing the filter is also simple. The side of the unit has two push buttons, which will release the outer cover. Once that’s off, you’ll see the filter has two tabs which, when pushed down, removes the filter. Push the replacement filter in its place and replace the outer cover. It does feel like the outer cover isn’t quite on when you replace it, but you’ll know it is because it clicks into place.

The filters aren’t the cheapest, coming in at $79.99, but it’s really important that you commit to changing them every year. If you don’t, then the purifying function just won’t work, and instead of trapping pollutants, it will potentially push them back out into the air.

When it comes to storage, you’re probably not going to want to put this unit away. After all, it can be used all year around so it’s not really a case of having to pop it in the cupboard until the appropriate season rolls around. It’s not the smallest but it’s curved design does mean that it will fit neatly in to any space even when not in use. The great thing with this machine is even if you don’t want to use it as a fan or heater, you can leave it just run in the background to purify the air.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: How does it compare?

The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is a step up from the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP01. The HP1 has a few differences, including an upgraded activated carbon filter, which is enhanced with a chemical called Tris that can capture more gases, odours, and VOCs.

It also has a real-time air quality display via the LCD and the app, showing the different levels of pollutants, which the HP01 lacked. The HP1 also has an automatic mode which uses enhanced sensors that can automatically detect the changes in air quality and adjust its fan speed to keep the air healthy. This makes a huge difference as it can save plenty of energy - which is always good during a time of rising energy costs.

Oscillation is another huge change with the HP1; this one now oscillates up to 350º, whereas the HP01 only went to 70º. Finally, the HP1 uses Air Multiplier Technology; whilst other models offer this, this one has a powerful airflow of up to 290 litres per second, which means it can heat and cool a room quickly and effectively.

Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 Review: Verdict

The Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1 is a brilliant air purifier that also has the added benefit of having a heater and fan included. Although it’s marketed as an air purifier first and foremost, it works just as well for anyone looking for an easy way to heat up or cool down a room.

At $659.99/£549.99 it’s not a cheap option, but is it worth the money? I certainly think so. After all, you’re putting three machines in one unit. It delivers HEPA grade filtration, rapid heating via ceramic plates, cooling tech for the summer months and plenty of smart technology and controls via the MyDyson app.

If you have a large space then this is a great option, this air purifier can reach up to 81m³. Plus the 350º oscillation really spreads the heat and coolness to all corners of a room.

There’s also plenty of unique touches, such as a magnetic remote, bladeless fan design, and automatic settings, so you can relax knowing your room will be kept at an ambient temperature, and the air quality will also be good.

It is a premium air purifier, and whilst pricey, it does offer great value for money. It’s also light enough to move from room to room so you don’t have to have multiple fans to cover all bases. I’m also really impressed by the connectivity too as it kept well connected and never dropped out. Plus, with plenty of stats to keep on top of how well the air quality in the house is doing, it’s a brilliant machine that in my opinion is worth the high price tag.

If you’ve unboxed a new hair tool or countertop oven recently and found a chunky plug with Test and Reset buttons staring back at you, you’re not imagining it.

Over the past year, we’ve tested products like the Ninja Artisan pizza oven, the Dyson Airstrait, and the Dyson Supersonic, and several arrived with oversized plugs that asked us to “test” before they’d even switch on. It’s a small friction point, but readers keep asking: Why are brands doing this now, and should you avoid products with these giant plugs?

Short answer: It’s about safety and compliance, especially around water and high heat.

Longer answer: Different categories are converging on similar protective technologies, and the plugs have to house them.

I’ve pulled together what these devices do, why you’re seeing them more often, and the practical trade-offs to consider before you buy.

What that Test/Reset brick actually does

That “giant plug” is almost always an appliance-level safety device that cuts power if it detects a leakage current, exactly the kind of fault that can happen if a product gets wet, a cord is damaged, or a component fails.

You’ll see a few names for it:

• ALCI (Appliance Leakage Current Interrupter): Common on hair dryers and hair tools in the U.S.
• GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter): Often used for outdoor or damp-area appliances in the U.S.
• RCD/PRCD (Residual Current Device/Portable RCD): The UK/EU equivalent concept.

Functionally, they all do the same thing: constantly monitor the current flowing out and back. If the device senses an imbalance, say, current “leaking” through water, it trips and shuts off power in milliseconds. The electronics and relay that make this possible are why the plug is, well, big.

Leyland Clowsley, managing director at Apex Manufacturing, says: “Those oversized plugs you see on modern devices are doing more than taking up space; they are mini power management systems… often housing surge protection, voltage regulation, and even embedded transformers that previously sat inside the device itself.”

Note: Not every big plug is doing the same job. On hair tools and high-heat appliances, the “brick” typically provides ground-fault protection (ALCI/GFCI/RCD). On many low-voltage electronics (laptops, routers), the brick is an external power supply that steps wall AC down to safe DC and adds regulation and filtering.

“The plugs themselves tend to contain an entire power supply system… to accept 120V or 240V AC and step it down to a much lower and safer DC output,” explains Jacob Kalvo, founder & CEO at Live Proxie.

Why you’re seeing them more now

Mandated safety for hair tools near water

In the U.S., hair dryers and many hair tools have included ALCI protection since the early 1990s as part of safety standards. Newer devices, such as the Dyson Airstrait and Supersonic, are powerful, used in bathrooms, and sold across regions with varying building codes. Including the safety device in the plug helps brands meet or exceed requirements regardless of where you use them.

“Compliance with strict international safety standards also requires bigger plugs", says Lynden Singh, eCommerce director at Laptop Station. "That’s why we now see widespread adoption across brands.”

Verdict: Worth the bulk. For anything you’ll use near a sink, this is non-negotiable protection.

Countertop “outdoor-adjacent” cooking is booming

Appliances like pizza ovens and grills blend indoor convenience with outdoor-style heat and wattage. In the U.S., kitchens and outdoor areas are supposed to be on GFCI-protected circuits, but older homes and extension setups don’t always comply. Building ground-fault protection into the plug ensures protection even if your outlet isn’t up to modern code.

“As devices have gotten smaller and more powerful, the need for external plug‑based protection has increased" says Clay Hamilton, engineer and founder of Patriot Dirt. "Companies will take to larger plugs to decrease failure rates, comply with regulations, and relocate certain components from inside the casing.”

Verdict: A smart belt-and-braces approach for high-heat gear, especially if you’ll use it outside or in garages and patios.

One global product, many electrical realities

A single model may be sold into homes with different wiring ages and safety protections. By integrating intelligence into the plug, brands can standardise safety performance across markets, even when consumer unit or outlet protection varies.

“Two key factors prompted the shift,” Crosley told me. “First, thermal management. Moving these components outside the central unit helps prevent internal overheating. Second, standardisation and cost. It was cheaper and more modular to produce universal power bricks and offload the complexity from the product to the plug.”

Verdict: Sensible for consistency, and fewer region-specific parts help with manufacturing and recalls.

Self-test is becoming a standard practice

Some devices won’t power on until you press Test and then Reset. That’s not just brand theatrics, as it verifies the safety circuit is functioning before you use a high-heat or water-adjacent product. Manuals typically recommend repeating this monthly.

Verdict: Mildly annoying at first, but reassuring thereafter.

Legal and warranty realities

Adding appliance-level protection lowers risk for everyone. It can help prevent injuries and reduce the risk of costly recalls when products are used in non-ideal conditions (older outlets, damp spaces, extension cords).

As Singh puts it, “The increased scrutiny provided by social media has led companies to become more safety‑conscious today than ever before.”

Verdict: You may never notice it working, and that’s the point.

Pros and cons

Pros:

• Safety anywhere: Protection travels with the appliance, not just the outlet.
• Fast fault detection: Trips in milliseconds if something’s wrong.
• Clear diagnostics: If the device won’t reset, you know not to use it and to contact support.

Cons:

• Bulk and blockage: They can hog neighbouring outlets on crowded strips.
• Weight and fit: The plug can feel heavy in loose or older sockets.
• Replacement complexity: If the safety plug fails, you can’t swap it for a basic one, as it’s part of the certified safety system.
• Smart plug conflicts: High-wattage devices and safety plugs often don’t play nicely with compact smart plugs, and many brands advise against using them anyway.

How to live with them (safely)

Do the test: Press Test, confirm the device powers off, then press Reset before first use and monthly thereafter. If it won’t reset, stop using it and contact the manufacturer.

Don’t defeat the safety: Avoid adapters that remove grounding or bypass the safety plug. That defeats the entire system.

Mind the outlet: If your plug blocks adjacent sockets, a short, heavy-duty, grounded “outlet saver” extension can help, provided it’s rated for the appliance’s wattage. Many manufacturers discourage extension cords entirely, so check your manual first.

Check your circuit: For U.S. readers, kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor outlets should be on GFCI-protected circuits. If yours aren’t, an electrician can update them, which is beneficial for every appliance you own, not just this one.

Not every giant plug is the same

Safety interrupters (ALCI/GFCI/RCD), common on hair tools and damp‑area appliances, monitor leakage current and cut power instantly during faults.

External power supplies (“power bricks”), common on laptops, routers, and some smart‑home gear, meanwhile, convert high‑voltage AC to low‑voltage DC and add regulation and surge suppression.

“Delicate electronics can’t tolerate variations, so these adapters incorporate filtering of electrical noise and voltage regulation,” says Kalvo.

Singh adds that today’s larger connectors “offer better power‑management systems” and “contain surge protection, voltage regulation to safeguard sensitive electronics against electric spikes”.

Why some bricks are big, and why some are shrinking

Efficiency and regulation: Global rules like U.S. DOE Level VI and the EU Eco‑design directive pushed adapters to waste less energy as heat, idle less, and convert more efficiently, one driver of bigger, more capable plugs, according to Kalvo.

Thermal and reliability: Shifting heat‑generating components out of slim devices improves longevity and reduces failure rates, notes Clowsley.

The GaN shift: “GaN transistors are far more efficient… you can now buy a GaN charger that’s smaller than a pack of cards and delivers 100W of power,” says Kalvo, evidence that newer materials are shrinking bricks again without sacrificing protection.

Is the giant plug worth the hassle?

For hair tools: Yes. The safety benefit outweighs the bulk, and in many regions it’s a requirement. If you’re buying something like the Dyson Airstrait or Supersonic, factor in the larger plug as part of the package.

For high-heat countertop ovens and grills: Also yes. Especially if you’ll use them outdoors or in older kitchens. The plug-level protection is a safety net you want.

For tight spaces or smart-home setups: Plan ahead. These plugs can block neighbouring outlets and may not be compatible with compact smart plugs. If automation is essential, consider manufacturer-approved solutions or appliances that feature built-in scheduling and controls.

Bottom line

Those oversized plugs with Test and Reset are here because our appliances are getting hotter, more powerful, and more portable, while our homes are a patchwork of old and new wiring. The electronics that can detect a dangerous fault in milliseconds need a bit of room, and that’s the brick you’re seeing.

As Singh puts it, “compliance with strict international safety standards” and a stronger safety culture are pushing brands to build more protection into the plug itself.

And as Kalvo notes, materials like GaN are already helping shrink some bricks again, without compromising safety or efficiency.

Yes, the bulk can be inconvenient. But the trade-off is meaningful: consistent, portable protection that works regardless of where you plug in. For most people, that’s a smart, safety-first evolution, worth the extra inch of plastic on the end of the cord.

When it comes to the best vacuum cleaners, the Dyson vacuum cleaner is right up there when it comes to fresh innovations. And since I've tested (and own) my fair share of Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners, I've always been impressed by its incredible power, eye-catching design, and handy features.

But, I’ve always felt that it was missing one essential component that would make my cleaning tasks less of a chore. That’s why I was so excited after Dyson announced its latest offerings at IFA 2025, to learn of this one feature mentioned in the press release. So what is that caught my attention?

Self-emptying docks for new cordless vacuums

If you’ve always liked the convenience of having a self-emptying dock, customers will be pleased to know that Dyson is set to bring out compatible self-emptying docking stations as stated, “a self-emptying dock will be available from 2026.”

Finally, the feature that I’ve been waiting for. Essentially, after vacuuming, simply slot the vacuum onto the dock and all the waste will shoot out into a larger container/base until it’s full enough to empty into the trash bin.

Personally, I love the concept of self-emptying docks (as lazy as it may sound). Not only does it save you the hassle of emptying a dirty dust canister after each use, but is also considered more hygienic. And since I suffer from dust allergies, this is the perfect way to contain all the dust and dirt without any particles flying back into the air.

While this feature isn’t exactly a new thing in the vacuum cleaner market, I’ll be interested to see what Dyson has to offer. Its competitor, Shark, has already gained huge success with their range of cordless vacuum models, such as the Shark Cordless PowerDetect Clean & Empty Vacuum System.

As far as we know, Dyson will be offering this self-emptying dock with its flagship model V15, and the V8 Cyclone (an upgrade of V8 vacuum), and is likely to continue with its new models launching.

In any case, I can't wait to get my hands on the new, self-emptying dock to make lightweight of my cleaning chores.

That’s why I was so excited to try one of Dyson’s latest offerings. After testing the new Dyson V16 Animal cordless vacuum in my home for a few weeks, this has literally solved my biggest problem. Here are the three things I liked and the one things I didn’t like.

3 things I liked

It has an on/off button

Perhaps my favourite thing about the Dyson V16 Animal is that it has an on/off button. Yes, finally! Dyson has listened to all our gripes about its trigger operation and how tiresome it can be for some.

Like many, I found holding my finger down on the trigger to vacuum my home was a real pain (literally). This is especially the case after 35 minutes of solid cleaning, or if I wanted to convert my stick into a handheld cleaner. And as much as it was designed to save energy, I found this type of operation to be more of a hindrance than a help.

In fact, my colleague Jeff also flagged the trigger operation as the “worst part” of testing the Dyson V11 cordless stick in his home. So I’m glad it wasn’t just me!

Now, you simply operate the Dyson V16 Animal by pressing the silver button at the top of the handle, to allow you hassle-free cleaning, without feeling the strain. What’s more, this doesn’t scrimp on power either, thanks to its new Dyson Hyperdymium 900w motor, and 315 Air Watts suction. This meant that I was able to deep clean my hard floors and carpets in less time than I would normally do so.

New cleaner head detangles long hair

Now, I don’t own any pets but I do have long hair that seems to malt all over my floors. For that reason (as well as complaints from my family), I’m constantly vacuuming my floors to keep it spotless and hair-free.

Another thing I like about the Dyson V16 Animal is that it comes with a new cleaner head designed to specifically de-tangle long hair. This is down to its clever cleaning head that has two rotating conical brush bars that instantly de-tangles hair up to 25 inches long, as they spiral. What’s more, these strands never get caught up in the brush bars as they get sucked up straight into the dust canister.

I can imagine how this can be an absolute godsend for dog or cat owners, or for households with multiple pets.

Dust detecting laser light

Since I have the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine Vacuum Cleaner, one attachment head I love is the Fluffy Optic head. Essentially, this uses laser technology to reveal hidden dust lurking in your home that we can’t ordinarily see.

The good thing about the new Dyson V16 Animal Piston is that the laser already comes inside the cleaner head. This makes cleaning under my sofa, bed, hidden corners, or tackling dark spots a breeze — plus, it’s a little satisfying to spot all the dust that you’re sucking up. You’ll never miss a spot ever again!

1 thing I didn't like

The dust canister is smaller

Perhaps the only (minor) thing that was disappointing was the size of the dust canister.

Although it is designed to compress the dust down to give you more capacity, I still found myself emptying it out quite a bit. It got full quite quickly, especially after doing a few cleaning sessions in the house in one week.

Needless to say, this isn't a real dealbreaker, as the power, performance and convenient features more than make up for it.

Stair-climbing, 3D vision, and an unapologetically futuristic brief. Dreame’s CyberX bills itself as “the world’s first bionic QuadTrack stair-climbing robot vacuum,” designed to move between floors on its own, with 3D vision and intelligent navigation to keep it on course.

If the production unit aligns with the concept, it addresses one of the longest-standing pain points in robot cleaning: multi-level homes without requiring babysitting. This is one to watch for households that want true whole-home coverage without a dock on every floor.

Best for: Multi-level homes; early adopters who want a step-change in autonomy

Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai robot

Vision-led wet and dry cleaning with before/after verification. Dyson’s first “Spot+Scrub” AI robot pairs an AI-powered camera, green LED illumination and smart navigation to recognise nearly 200 object types (cables, socks, toys) so it can route around them precisely.

Its stain-detection pipeline captures before-and-after images, then re-cleans stubborn spots until the bot confirms removal. A self-cleaning wet roller uses a 12-point hydration system and fresh water as it rotates; a cyclonic, bagless dock handles emptying while preserving suction.

App support (MyDyson) covers mapping and targeted cleans. It’s an ambitious attempt to make mopping as smart — and hygienic — as vacuuming.

Best for: Mixed hard floor and carpet households that want AI-assisted mopping with verification

Ecovacs Deebot X11 Omnicyclone

Fast GaN charging, bagless auto-empty, and a mechanical 4WD lift system. The new DEEBOT X11 OMNICYCLONE mixes a few clever ideas aimed at continuous cleaning.

PowerBoost GaN fast charging tops up the battery during short dock cycles (like mop rinses), so it spends less time sidelined. A BLAST Vacuum airflow system is designed to maintain stronger, quieter suction.

The PureCyclone 2.0 OMNI Station goes bagless with multi-stage separation to cut down on consumables. There’s also a TruePass Adaptive 4WD Climbing System that mechanically engages to clear 4cm thresholds (without relying on cameras), plus AGENT YIKO on-device AI that learns your layout and habits over time.

Matter support is onboard for smart-home control.

Best for: Bigger homes; anyone who wants fewer dock interruptions and fewer consumables

Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Pro

Slimline lidar with body lift and high suction, aimed at tricky floor transitions. Roborock’s follow-up focuses on adaptive mobility: the Qrevo Curv 2 Pro adds an upgraded AdaptiLift chassis with omnidirectional wheels so the robot can raise itself to keep suction contact on plush carpets up to 3cm.

It’s also notably thin (7.98cm) for a full-lidar unit thanks to a RetractSense Navigation System that pops up for 360° scanning in open spaces, then retracts for a 100° rear view under furniture.

The headline suction figure is 25,000 Pa, which — if borne out — should help on deeper pile rugs and floor gaps.

Best for: Apartments and homes with low-clearance furniture and mixed pile carpets

xLean TR1

A dual-form floor-washing robot you can convert to handheld in a second. The xLean TR1 is banking on flexibility: it’s built to switch between robot and handheld mode instantly, so you can send it to patrol the kitchen — then pop it off the dock to deal with a fresh spill.

Dual-Motor DirectSuction tech is pitched to handle liquid and mixed messes (think pet hair + yoghurt) in both modes; an AI learning loop records how you clean by hand, then teaches the robot to replicate those strategies in the same spots.

The company also claims a real-time mess classifier that adapts the approach for faster, spotless results.

Best for: Busy family spaces; high-traffic kitchens where messes aren’t on a schedule

Why we're excited about these vacuums

Floor plan and flooring: If you’ve got multiple levels, Dreame’s CyberX (if it ships with reliable stair-climbing) moves the autonomy needle. For large, complex layouts, ECOVACS’s faster GaN top-ups could reduce charging downtime mid-clean.

Hard floors vs carpet: Dyson’s Spot+Scrub leans hardest into intelligent stain tackling and roller hygiene; Roborock’s chassis lift is designed to keep suction contact on thicker rugs.

Maintenance style: If you don’t want to keep buying bags, the DEEBOT’s bagless station is a differentiator. If you’re constantly spot-cleaning sticky spills, the xLean’s dual-form idea might save time.

Robot vacuums at IFA 2025 weren’t just louder on specs — they were smarter about context. From stair-climbing promises and AI stain checks to bagless cyclone docks and height-adjusting chassis, these five models suggest the next wave of autonomous cleaning is about removing the last bits of friction.

We’ll be testing the new models as soon as possible to see which innovations actually live up to their promises.

Just hours after its latest 'Unveiled' event, Dyson has launched three new products that are already available to purchase, including a fresh take on a beloved model.

Announced at IFA 2025, Dyson's biggest product launch to date saw a grand total of 11 products introduced to the brand's lineup. Ranging from floor care to air purifiers and hairstylers, the brand's innovations spanned across its 2026 pipeline, with some products set for release in the new year.

That said, Dyson has already launched three new products in the U.K. and AU markets post-announcement. These include two cordless vacuum cleaners — the Dyson V16 Piston Animal and the newest V8 iteration, the Cyclone — and one new bladeless fan, the Cool CF1.

After some hands-on time at an Australia-based event, two products have piqued my interest the most — and I already have a feeling one will become quite the fan favourite among the Dyson aficionados out there.

New powerful cordless vacuums coming our way

Available at Dyson AU and Dyson UK from today (September 5), Dyson's "most powerful" cordless vacuum, the V16 Piston Animal, retailing at AU$1,349 / £749.99, is designed for whole-home cleaning. Featuring a 900W ultra high-speed motor, a new anti-tangle conical brush bar head, a compacting dustbin, and built-in crevice tools, the V16 can deep clean across different surfaces, automatically adjusting suction power when it senses a new floor type.

The V16 Piston Animal can also suck up the longest hair strands (up to 60cm) without tangles, thanks to its new cleaner head and can hold up to 30 days' worth of debris with its compactor-like bin. The V16 also comes with the option to add on the latest Submarine 2.0 wet roller head, which takes it from vacuum to a wet-dry floor washer.

What I liked most about the new V16 model is the fact that it has a remote release design, meaning you don't need to worry about bending down to change attachments. The vacuum was relatively easy to maneuver and could easily be one of the most powerful cordless vacuums I've tried, as it almost zoomed away when I was taking it on a test drive. And personally, I am a fan of the new black copper colorway, which is a refreshing stray away from the Dyson standard of grey/purple.

However, I was much more impressed by the latest generation of a certified bestseller, the V8 Cyclone. Available for AU$649 / £349.99, this is a welcome upgrade to the original V8 model, which launched in 2016. Housing 30% more suction power, the V8 Cyclone has a 50% longer runtime, and can provide up to 60 minutes of fade-free cleaning.

The difference between the V8 and the V8 Cyclone? The new triggerless power button and three cleaning modes, instead of the predecessor's two. Existing V8 owners can interchange old attachments with the new model, too, making it an ideal choice for those looking to merely upgrade their ageing vacuum.

Much like the Piston Animal, I quite liked the colorway of the new V8, which sports a sleek black finish with red and olive touches. Again, the V8 Cyclone was lightweight, easy to push and could easily clean a small-to-medium-sized home within its battery life.

Has Dyson missed a trick?
The only downside (which isn't that bad in my opinion) is that these new models won't have compatible self-emptying docks for purchase until next year. While this isn't a total deal breaker, it may sway some from jumping aboard the new Dyson bandwagon, especially if you're keen to invest in the newer tech.

Customers in AU and the U.K. can purchase these new products exclusively on Dyson's website right now; however, U.S. pricing and availability are still TBC. But fret not — we'll keep you posted on the U.S. release date as soon as it appears.

Dyson has two new air purifiers on the market: the Dyson Purifier Hot+ Cool HP1 and Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox.

And while the names sound a little complicated, it's really only fitting for a Dyson product to tell you from the start that it does a lot more than just purifying the air for you.

So, they're air purifiers, but what else can they do? Well, a lot more, thanks to the upgraded carbon filters with increased functionality.

For the Hot+Cool HP1, you're getting a purifier all-year round, as well as a heater in the winter and fan in the summer.

For the Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox, you're getting a purifier, humidifier and fan all wrapped up in one.

While they recently launched in the US, they've only just arrived in the UK. Priced at $599.99/£549.99 for the Hot+Cool and $999.99/£699.99 for the Humidify+Cool – though both are currently discounted in the US!

About the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP1

The Dyson Hot+Cool HP1 is an air purifier at its core, focused on removing the gases and pollutants from your home. And it does so with some pretty impressive tech.

The 360-degree glass HEPA and activated carbon filter is enriched with Tris, a chemical that helps capture odors, gaseous particles, VOCs, and oxidizing gases.

It senses them, captures and traps them purifying your entire room. But, it can also evenly heat the room or cool you, depending on what your preference is.

Plus, the air multiplier technology delivers over 290 liters per second of powerful airflow to your room. And it can all be controlled via the MyDyson app, setting schedules and monitoring air quality from wherever you are.

It's also super compact, reaching 30.1 inches in height and weighing 11.7 lbs. And what's super impressive about it? Not only does it oscillate around your room, it tilts too!

Design-wise, you may feel like you're looking at a Dyson product you've already seen before and that's because it looks pretty similar to the OG Dyson bladeless fan, the AM07. But, that's all changed given the brand's recent redesign, the Cool CF1.

Much like the other products in Dyson's range though, it's sleek and sticks to a fairly similar color palette, which slots rather nicely into any home, no matter the interiors.

And when it comes to the price compared to other Dyson products, it fits right in. But, when you weigh it up against the best air purifiers on the market, it's certainly more expensive. After all, it's not just an air purifier.

About the Dyson Purifier Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox

The pricier Dyson Humidify+Cool PH2 De-Nox is an air purifier and humidifier, which can also keep you cool. And with the bigger price tag comes some upgrades.

With a fully-sealed HEPA H13 grade filtration, it captures 99.97% of particles automatically and removes 99.9% of bacteria in the water.

Enriched with potassium carbonate, it also captures up to 50% more NO2, which is not just an outdoor pollutant, but one that can be released in household tasks like cooking.

So, for anyone affected by dust, odors or allergens, the Humidify+Cool works to give you a healthier home environment. And with a one gallon tank, you'll get up to 36 hours without having to refill.

Another lovely touch is the machine's deep clean cycle that's activated at the touch of a button, meaning you won't have to clean it out yourself.

Finally, similarly to the Hot+Cool, it can also be controlled hands-free via the MyDyson app. But, there's also a LCD screen on the base that'll display your live results.

If you’re weighing up whether or not to invest in one of the best vacuum cleaners, then I have both good and bad news for cordless fans. The good news is stick vacuums are supremely convenient and very easy to use for light cleaning. The bad news is they’re never going to replace a traditional upright vacuum if you have a lot of floor space to get through and need a certain amount of suction power.

I’ve been using the Dyson V11 Advanced since I reviewed it towards the end of last year, and it’s since become an indispensable part of my cleaning regimen. The benefits I pointed out in my review — like the simple setup and robust design — mean I continue to reach for it when I need to spend 20 or 30 minutes vacuuming. Even the battery life has held up reasonably well.

However, when you’re several months into using a product, you’re much better able to appreciate shortcomings, or you come to use those “nice-to-have” elements you maybe glossed over at the beginning. I would still heartily recommend the Dyson V11 to anyone, but I can offer a bit more context about it now that I’m a little ways down the road.

The best part

You’re never going to run out of power when your vacuum is attached to an outlet, but the annoyance of having to thread a cable around furniture or through doors means I prefer the portability of a cordless vacuum.

The small LCD screen keeps things extremely simple. You get a readout of your power mode (Eco, Boost and Auto) as well as a battery countdown timer that lets you know how much of the 60-minute battery life you have remaining. That latter part is extremely useful as I’m not very good at remembering to keep the battery charged. Therefore, I can grab the vacuum, toggle it to the required setting depending on how much charge is left, and focus my cleaning because I know how long I have left on the clock.

Nearly a year on from first using the V11 Advanced, the battery life has remained constant when I do remember to charge it. You can get up to 60 minutes of charge when in “Eco” mode, and I’ve never needed to go beyond this. Furthermore, although you can purchase extra batteries directly from Dyson, I haven’t needed to augment my current power supply. That’s because if I know I’m going to be cleaning for the next hour, I’ll likely reach for my upright vacuum.

The worst part

It turns out there’s a rather divisive issue when it comes to Dyson’s cordless vacuums, and that’s the fact you constantly need to keep your finger on the trigger to activate the motor. The second you let up, the thing switches off. My upright vacuum has an on/off button, which, to my mind, is a far better solution.

It’s probably one of the reasons I don’t use the V11 Advanced for long periods of cleaning — I don’t want to spend 30 minutes with my finger clamped over a trigger. Furthermore, it also makes it difficult when you’ve got a different attachment bolted on and you need to try and work the vacuum into an awkward space. You can’t reposition your hand around it because you’re keeping one finger always on the trigger.

The fact that there’s not even a toggle button or a settings option (believe me, I’ve looked) letting the vacuum keep the trigger held for you seems like an oversight to me. Even all these months later, it’s still the one element of this vacuum that I feel lets it down.

For the last couple of years, I've had my eyes on the Dyson Airwrap. It's been everywhere I turn, from billboards to TikTok ads. So what's the hype all about?

The Dyson Airwrap technology promises sleek styling with a far less heat damage than using traditional styling tools like straighteners and curling tongs. So when I got the chance to test out the Dyson Airwrap i.d., I was like a kid on Christmas.

But that price tag is a little hard to stomach. And like with any product that has gone viral or is a staple in the household of every celebrity, there are similar products for a fraction of the price. So when I tested the Dreame Pocket Neo a few months ago it left me wondering: is it the hype, or is Dyson really the best?

I'm going to break down the similarities and differences between the two air stylers so you can get a good idea of which one is going to be the best choice for you.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. vs Dreame Pocket: Price & availability

The Dyson Airwrap has been a recognisable name on the market for many years now, but the Dyson Airwrap i.d. launched in August 2024, with the Dreame Pocket hot on its heels that same month.

The main difference between the two is the price. Dyson has a reputation as a trusted household brand and it's products come with the premium price tag to match. The Dyson Airwrap i.d. is available for purchase from Amazon U.S. for $599 and from Amazon U.K. for £479.

Dreame are more forgiving with their pricing though. The Pocket Neo is available from Amazon U.S. for $159 and from the Dreame online store for £199.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. vs Dreame Pocket: Design & controls

Dyson and Dreame are both best known for their range of sleek vacuum cleaners, so it will come as no surprise that both brands make a good looking air styler.

With the Dyson Airwrap you six attachments to style your hair with, and for me, this meant more control over my unruly hair. It comes with two curling barrels to achieve different curl and wave effects, a firm styling brush, a flyaway tamer tool, a round brush, and the iconic Dyson drying attachment.

The Dreame Pocket comes with only two attachments. A curling barrel attachment and a nozzle that directs airflow downwards to tame flyaways.

It can be expected that the Dreame will have fewer attachments though as it is a fraction of the size of the Dyson. The Dyson is 10.7 inches long, and the Dreame has a length of 7.91 inches. The Dreame also folds to become more compact, making it great for taking on trips away.

The Dreame is the best option for anyone who travels a lot since it weighs just 0.66 pounds. The Dyson is heavier, with the body alone weighing 1.3 pounds.

Both air stylers have three different heat settings, but the Dreame only has two different speeds, where the Dyson had three speed settings.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. vs Dreame Pocket: Drying

Both the Dreame and Dyson are ionic dryers, meaning they use negatively charged ions to break down water molecules, speeding up drying time. They both operate at 110,000 RPM, which is very powerful.

The drying head on the dyson offers a lot of control when directing the airflow. The three different speed settings also meant that I could control how fast my hair was being blasted. At the highest speed my hair became tangled, so I opted for the middle setting.

The same issue arose with the Dreame. Since there is no drying attachment with the dreame (only the anti-frizz tool) the dryer feels a lot more powerful than the dyson. but this also meant my hair become matted very quickly, and I was having to stop to brush it out. Even on the lower drying speed this was an issue.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. vs Dreame Pocket: Smoothing

The Dyson has an anti-frizz tool and smoothing brush, both of which were very effective. I opted to use these before curling my hair as my natural curls have a tendency to become frizzy whenever I style without heat.

As I mentioned, there is an anti-frizz nozzle with the Dreame but this wasn't able to smooth my hair down like the brushes that come with the Dyson. So to make sure my roots were super slick, I ended up low drying them with a round brush. However, this made me lose some volume at the root of my hair.

I was left with a lot more frizz after using the dreame as I just couldn't get enough control to achieve a smooth finish, but the Dyson makes this a breeze.

Dyson Airwrap i.d. vs Dreame Pocket: Curling

This is what the Airwrap became known for. The way it sucks up your hair as if by magic and leaves you with a voluminous curl that drops into an elegant blowdry.

When using the Dyson I felt like I had control over the hair curling around the barrel. It was also very easy to flip the switch and give the hair a shot of cold air before releasing to set the curl in place. There was also a lot of tension in the wrap, which worked to further smooth the hair.

The Dreame was able to form the curl on the barrel quicker than the Dyson, but there wasn't as much tension, leaving me with a lot more frizz. The temperature of the Dreame is controlled by clicking the same button repeatedly, and this made it difficult to get the cold air to set the curl every time.

Th curls from the Dyson held up for most of the day, and I went of a windy beach walk so I wasn't expecting miracles. As you can see in the first picture, after using the Dyson, I was left with some pretty intense volume. However, with the Dreame, by the time I went to take some pictures the volume had been lost, as you can see in the second image.

I'm a big fan of discovering great dupes for a viral product. Whether that's a cordless stick vacuum or a hair dryer, or anything else in between, sometimes you don't need to spend top dollar on the well-known brand to deliver the exact same results. And that sentiment rings true for this impressive hair dryer.

Laifen is a relatively new brand in the haircare space in Australia, recently debuting its second-generation hair dryer in the form of the Laifen SE 2. While I’m not expecting to see any discounts on that just days after launch, I’m thrilled to see the original Laifen SE — which made waves in the hair care industry previously — now available for a fraction of the price of the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer it tries to emulate.

Right now, the Laifen SE is down to just AU$174.99 on Amazon — that's AU$75 off RRP and the lowest price yet that I recall seeing it for. Packing some rather incredible temperature settings and a 105,000RPM brushless motor, the Laifen SE doesn't mess around with your hair… or your wallet.

You'll need to act fast to score this stellar hair dryer deal, though — this discounted rate is only available while stocks last.

While we haven't gotten our hands on this particular dryer, our friends at T3 were rather pleased with the Laifen SE, awarding it 4 stars in their review. The reviewer noted that the "Laifen SE is an attractive hair dryer with some nicely advanced features, especially to do with hair care". They did knock it back a peg due to the drying speed and mismatching accessories; however, they were satisfied with its usual RRP, considering its likeness to the Dyson Supersonic.

As a hair tool reviewer myself, and having trialled the Supersonic Nural, the Laifen SE seems to be a great alternative to the pricey dryer, especially when comparing more than just the fact that it blows hot air. In terms of attachments, the Laifen SE's Smooth Nozzle looks almost identical to the Nural's Concentrator attachment — and both of Laifen's attachments magnetise onto the dryer, much like the Dyson.

The heat modes are similar as well, and even sport different shades of LED lights to represent the temperature. Dare I say, though, the Laifen makes it known what setting you're on even better, illuminating the outer ring of the dryer much brighter than its more premium competitor.

So, if you're in the market for a new hair dryer that won't break the bank, the Laifen SE will blow you away.

If you want a vacuum that actually shows you what you're cleaning up (and maybe makes you question how clean your floors really were), this one's worth a look.

The Dyson V15 Detect Plus Cordless Vacuum is currently $599 at Amazon, down from $749 — and with its laser dust detection, intelligent suction adjustment, and genuinely useful LCD screen that tracks your cleaning progress, it's one of the most impressive cordless vacuums on the market.
