I like highly cushioned sneakers, which is a good thing right now because most of the best running shoes have max-stack designs with over 40mm of foam packed into the midsole.

However, there are times when I long for a nimbler, more direct feel on the run, and the Skechers Aero Razor offers exactly that. If you’re not a fan of big running shoes, it’s a shoe you definitely need to know about.

It’s incredibly light and has a sleek, fast ride thanks to the rockered midsole and lively midsole foam, but the Aero Razor is still pretty comfortable on easy runs in my experience.

Some will find it a bit too direct and lacking in cushioning, but the Aero Razor is a surprise standout of the year so far for me, and a rival to some of my favorite shoes like the Puma Deviate Pure Nitro and Adidas Adizero Evo SL.

Skechers Aero Razor review: Price and availability

The Skechers Aero Razor launched in February 2026 and costs $140 in the U.S. and £135 in the U.K., a good price that puts it up against some of the best value running shoes available, like the Adidas Evo SL and Puma Deviate Pure.

Skechers shoes also seem to have a happy habit of dropping in price more regularly than other running brands, so the Aero Razor could be even better value — it’s available for $119 at Amazon right now, for example.

Skechers Aero Razor review: Design and fit

The Aero Razor is currently available in four colors, including the black design I tested. I went with my normal running shoe size in the Aero Razor and had a good fit, but it’s a fairly narrow sneaker that fits closely around the toes, so if you have a wide foot, it would be worth trying before buying if you can.

Compared to most daily trainers on the market, the Aero Razor is lighter and has a lower stack height. It has a 4mm drop and stands 36mm tall at the heel and 32mm at the forefoot, and weighs just 7.1oz in my US men’s size 10.

This light, lean design lends itself more to speed training, but there’s still enough cushioning on the shoe for easier efforts.

Upper

The Aero Razor has a minimal mesh upper that aims to be lightweight and breathable rather than being especially padded.

There is some padding around the heel, and I found it comfortable enough, but in general it has a less plush feel than most daily trainers.

Midsole

The Hyper Burst Pro midsole foam is a nitrogen-infused aliphatic TPU material, which means it is light and energetic. It’s the kind of foam used by a lot of my favorite shoes right now, so I was excited to see Skechers use their version of it on the Aero Razor.

In the forefoot of the shoe is Skechers’ H-Wing plate, which adds stiffness to the shoe to speed up the transition from heel to toe without being as heavy and stiff as a full plate.

A pronounced rocker, called Hyper Arc, also works to roll you onto your forefoot rapidly, whether you’re cruising along at an easy pace or going all out in a workout.

Outsole

For a lightweight shoe, the Aero Razor has an impressive outsole, which is made from Goodyear rubber. Most of the heel and forefoot are well covered, and the shoe has gripped well for me even during runs on light trails.

Skechers Aero Razor review: Running performance

It’s been a couple of years since I last tested a Skechers running shoe, but in the past they have impressed me with their lightweight designs, and that’s definitely true of the Aero Razor.

Where past Skechers running shoes sometimes fell short compared with other brands was in the foam used in the midsole, but the Hyper Burst Pro in the Aero Razor is very good.

It delivers a lot of energy return at faster paces, and when combined with the fluid rocker and the nylon H-Wing in the forefoot, the shoe has an effective, efficient ride for workouts in my experience, whether it’s intervals or tempo sessions.

There are some foams I still find a bit more lively, such as the Lightstrike Pro used in the Adidas Evo SL or the FF Turbo Squared used in the Asics Megablast, but Hyper Burst Pro is an impressively energetic material to find in a running shoe at this price.

I also found the Aero Razor to be just about comfortable and supportive enough for a long easy run in my testing; while it wouldn’t be my first choice for that kind of run compared with a more cushioned shoe, it’s versatile enough to handle it.

However, if you are a runner who values comfort highly, the Aero Razor might be a bit too direct for your taste, and you’d need to pair it with a more cushioned shoe for your easy runs.

Should you buy the Skechers Aero Razor?

The Skechers Aero Razor will suit some runners down to the ground, and if you’re a fan of lightweight, lower-stack daily trainers, it’s one of the best options on the market.

It’s a bit of a throwback to shoes like the early models of the New Balance Rebel, and it’s also well-priced and likely to feature in sales regularly.

If you would prefer a more cushioned option, the Asics Novablast 6 is an outstanding running shoe that isn’t quite as quick as the Skechers, but more comfortable and stable, and still lively at faster paces.

Aside from perhaps not being cushioned enough for the mass market, the Aero Razor’s other problem is the rollcall of brilliant rivals in its category, which include the Adidas Evo SL and Puma Deviate Pure, two shoes that are also lightweight and versatile, but also a little more cushioned and comfortable.

I still rate those shoes a little more highly, and the Hoka Mach 7 is another fun, versatile daily trainer to consider, but the Skechers Aero Razor is in great company simply by being competitive with them, and this bodes well for the future of the line.

For parents who worry about their kids' whereabouts, you've probably considered putting a tracker on them for peace of mind. I keep an Apple AirTag on my child's stroller, just in case.

Skechers is making that a possibility thanks to its new Find My Skechers line of kids' sneakers that feature a secret compartment inside the shoe designed to hold an AirTag so that you can track your child. The line features shoes with sizes ranging from toddler to eight years old.

The compartment can be found by lifting the sneaker's insole and a fabric web liner. Underneath that is a plastic slot recessed into the midsole that holds the AirTag.

The compartment features a lid that screws in place to keep the tracker snug, which should keep kids from tampering with it. Skechers says the fabric and casing won't block the wireless signal for the tracker.

Additionally, the shoes don't feature any branding that would indicate a tracker is in the shoe, looking like any other Skecher. So it does make for a more covert way to track your kids.

Unlike some of our picks for the best GPS trackers for kids, which are mostly smartwatches, the hidden AirTag shoe is one that is unobtrusive and that kids likely won't take off and lose like they might a watch. Best Prime Day Skechers deals in Australia

I've relied on New Balance Fresh Foam running shoes for years. I think they offer great arch support and are super comfortable to wear, and in my opinion are some of the best running shoes.

But I didn’t know that I was missing a whole other level of comfort until I tested the Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0. They are so comfortable to wear even just for walking around, but when I took them on a run for the first time I set a new PR for my 3-mile run.

So yes, the change in shoes has made me a little faster but the comfort and support from them alone makes it worth the change.

Cushion and lift

The midsole of the shoe is made from memory foam and a PU (polyurethane) foam which, when put together, creates a bouncy and springy walk. The Skechers Air-Cooled Goga Mat technology also provides further cushioning for high intensity exercise.

The sole has a two-inch lift and I could really feel the effect of this from the shock absorption the shoe offers. My poor knees bear the brunt of the effects of my running, and in the weeks I have used these sneakers I haven’t had any aches or pains.

I have also noticed the elevation from the sole means I am leaning forward ever so slightly, so the shoes will automatically propel you forward with every step you take.

Cooling

These shoes are totally breathable and kept my feet far cooler than my usual New Balances. And while the mesh upper of the shoe makes for a cool running experience, it’s not so great for running in the rain.

Skechers are of course known for their breathability, but I didn’t quite understand the hype until trying these out. While the Goga Mat technology works to cushion the show, it also has a cooling effect. This is also in the Skechers’ Go Run Elevate 2.0 sneakers and makes them extremely comfortable to wear for long periods.

Space for toes

Most Skechers shoes come with a wide fit option, but I would say the Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 run wide anyway. While I have narrow feet, there was more than enough room in the regular fit version of these sneakers.

That meant there was plenty of room in the toe box and no squished toes in sight, This is an issue I find with a lot of sneakers I wear, where the toe box tapers to almost a point. While the Skechers still have a flattering shape, they are not constrictive.

Arch support

I have very arched feet from years of ballet training, so when I don’t have enough support from my shoes I really feel it. And as a chronic Doc Martens wearer, I know the impact of an uncomfortable shoe.

By having extra support in the arch area of my foot, my runs have become more comfortable, but that’s not the best part.

Usually a little while after a run, my arches can become slightly sore without the right support, and this is something I was experiencing with my previous running shoes. Since switching to Skechers I haven’t had any aches.

I will definitely be sticking with Skechers for my short runs from now on. For longer runs I would still go down the route of a sturdier shoe like the Asics Novablast 5, but for short training runs where you need to prioritize comfort? I can’t recommend these Skechers enough.

Skechers aren’t known for their stylish designs, but the Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound sees the company creating a versatile everyday shoe for anyone who needs extra comfort for long work hours or running errands.

The Arch Fits provided me with all-day comfort on a very busy day, and I didn’t experience any of my usual lower back aches. The lifted heel also gave good posture support.

While the upper of the shoe is leather and less breathable than the usual mesh upper Skechers is known for, the Air Cooled Memory Foam midsole ensures there is ventilation in the shoe.

Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound review: Price & availability

The Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound are available for purchase from Amazon U.S., but the price ranges from $80 to $111, depending on what size you purchase. The good news is they are often on sale for less than that.

U.S. women’s sizes range from 5-11, as well as half sizes. There is also a wider fit option for people who need it.

The sneakers are £89 when purchased from Amazon U.K., but are also available directly from the Skechers online U.K. store for £90. The U.K. women’s sizes range from 2.5-8, and half sizes are available as well as a wide fit option.

The shoes come in a White/Silver colorway or Black. I’m more of a fan of the white because they go with more of my wardrobe, but it’s personal preference.

Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound review: Design

The Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound struck me as one of the more stylish pairs from a company I mostly think of as being just a functional shoe designer. This pair looks and feels the part for everyday wear in (almost) any situation. These shoes aren’t meant for high or medium intensity exercise, but simply for comfortable day-to-day wear.

They come equipped with Skechers’ usual podiatry specs, but the combination of technology in these made them incredibly comfortable for being on my feet all day — the perfect work shoe.

The sneakers have the Skechers Arch Fit removable insole, which increases weight distribution for a more comfortable walking experience. I noticed the pressure on my feet was significantly decreased, and being on my feet all day was actually bearable.

They also have a cushioned midsole made from Air Cooled Memory Foam. This provides pressure relief and breathability for the shoes. However, since the upper is leather, they do get pretty warm. The shoes aren’t breathable like some others in the Skechers cushioned range, like the Max Cushioning Elite 2.0, which have a mesh upper for increased breathability. But since you aren’t going to be doing any rigorous training in these shoes, they shouldn’t get too sweaty!

The leather upper of the shoe is smooth and laces up through silver hooks, which catch the light. The leather is quite stiff on the first wear, but it becomes more malleable for me after two hours of walking.

The sneakers have a flexible traction sole and a 1.75-inch heel height. The heel of the shoe gives a good lift to make heel-to-toe walking easier, and the slope of the shoe means it’s not uncomfortable to stand in.

Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound review: Performance

The Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound are for casual wear, not running or long, demanding walks. So to test them out I wore them on a day where I had a lot of errands to run and was on my feet a lot.

The memory foam was bouncy to walk on and my feet didn’t get sore at all. I didn’t experience any rubbing around my ankles despite the shoes being made from a tougher leather material. Soft bouncy soles and blister free get a big yes from me.

I often get pain in my lower back after standing all day, but didn’t experience any back pain when wearing this shoe.

I did notice that the leather at the top was creasing where my foot was bending, but that meant the shoe was becoming more malleable and beginning to move easily with my foot. I also noticed my left foot started to overpronate slightly at times, but I encounter this issue with a lot of different sneakers, so I’m not going to knock the Sketchers for that.

Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound review: Maintenance

The Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Str Bound are easy to maintain as the leather simply wipes clean. The inner Arch Fit soles of the shoes are also removable and can be replaced if needed.

Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound review: Verdict

The Skechers Arch Fit 2.0 Star Bound sneakers are a great option for anyone who is often on their feet all day and needs a little extra support to help with comfort and posture.

While Skechers aren’t usually known for their stylish designs, these shoes look decent and will fit in with a range of different scenarios; whether that’s casual office work or anyone in a serving or catering role. They’re obviously perfect for general day-to-day wear and running errands. The Air Cooled Memory foam makes them incredibly comfy to walk in and the elevated heel meant that my steps were more controlled than in the flat shoes I usually wear.

It’s worth noting that the leather takes a little while to flex with your foot movements, but once it does these are the shoes you will be reaching for every day.

The Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0s are a great choice for casual runners, like me, looking for the best running shoes but needing a little extra cushioning on their runs.

The arch support and comfortable soles mean they are also perfect for all-day wear, with a mesh upper to keep feet cool. They are totally versatile and perfect for more intense running or a long day of walking. The materials make these shoes incredibly light, making each step feel easy.

The pair I tested was in my usual size, and they fit very wide on me, so that is something to bear in mind if you are looking to pick up a pair of the Elite 2.0s.

Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 review: Price & availability

The Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 shoes are available for purchase from Amazon U.S. for $100. They come in women’s sizes 5-9, including half sizes. There are also wider fit versions of the shoe available in full sizes, but the shoes run wide anyway, so bear that in mind.

In the U.K., the shoes are also available on Amazon for £99, or £100 directly from Skechers’ online store. They come in women’s sizes 2-8, including half sizes. Wide fit options are available in select sizes.

The shoes come in a variety of colors. I tested the Light Blue/Pink colorway, but they are also available in Black, Natural/Pink, Charcoal/Lavender, Navy/Teal, and White. If you tend to run on muddier trails, the darker colors like the Charcoal or Navy will work best, but I liked how the Light Blue brightened my workout outfit.

Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 review: Design

I wore the Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 in a size 5 and found they run wide, even though they also come in a wide fit. I do have narrow feet, but I couldn’t lace them tight enough to hug around the sides of my feet.

But that isn’t to say the shoes were uncomfortable by any means. The 2-inch lift from the heel and built-in arch gave plenty of support, and the light materials meant it genuinely felt like my feet were barely touching the ground.

Upper

The upper of the shoes is mesh, and I tested the Light Blue/Pink colorway, which has pink detailing painted over the blue mesh. The mesh top means the shoes were very breathable, but in winter months, they would quickly get your socks wet.

The shoes are lace up, and like I said, I couldn’t get as tight a fit as I normally like when lacing up to go for a run. I like knowing my feet are secure, but there was some distracting side-to-side movement while running at pace.

While the side walls of the shoe being wide was an issue for me, the wide toe box meant the forefoot felt incredibly comfortable — there’s nothing worse than running with squished toes. So the fit is a “Princess and the Pea” situation for me.

Midsole

The Skechers have an Ultra Go cushioned midsole made from memory foam and a PU (polyurethane) foam, which work together to create a springy walking experience.

The insoles have Skechers Air-Cooled Goga Mat technology, which provides further cushioning for higher intensity exercise, like running. The Goga Mat tech meant that my feet weren’t sinking into the sole like with normal memory foam, but were being more firmly supported, as if I were walking on one of the best yoga mats.

The insole also has arch support to further stabilize the foot.

Outsole

The Elite 2.0s have a flexible traction outsole. However, I found the grip isn’t the best.

While I thought they were great in dry conditions and for treadmill training, these bouncy soles wouldn’t be ideal for trail running, especially in wet weather.

Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 review: Performance

The Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 are super comfortable to run in and offer great arch support while remaining bouncy to propel you forward — it’s no wonder they are hailed as dupes for the Hoka Clifton 9 trainers.

The Elite 2.0s have Natural Rocker technology (in layman’s terms: a slightly curving, or “rocking,” sole) that provides a smooth transition from heel to toe. This worked amazingly for me; the heel lift helped me tilt my body forward and gain a little more momentum.

I felt like on the days I was running in the Skechers, there was less strain on my knees. The cushioning in the shoes absorbed the shock of my feet hitting the pavement. This is a result of the combination of the Ultra Go midsoles and Air-Cooled Goga Mat technology. The same technology is present in Skechers’ GO RUN Lite sneakers.

I’ll admit, I’ve probably needed to invest in a new pair of sneakers for a little while now. This fact was brought home when I set a new 5K personal record the first time I wore these shoes.

Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 review: Maintenance

As with any sneakers, keeping them in pristine condition can seem like a chore at times. The Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 shoes are easy to clean by throwing them into a cold cycle in one of the best washing machines and then leaving them to air dry.

Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 review: Verdict

The Skechers Max Cushioning Elite 2.0 offers everything a casual runner could possibly need. From the amazing arch support to the cushioned 2-inch heel lift to propel you forward, they’re pretty much perfect.

If you are clocking serious miles, you may want to spring for something sturdier like the Saucony Hurricane 24s, which are slightly heavier than the incredibly light Elite 2.0s, but are better for slower runs at longer distances.

The Skechers are perfect for the quick daily 5ks and keep me comfortably cushioned on my runs, but I don’t think they are surviving any marathons.

I'm not going to lie, when I saw that the Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 sneakers were just $85, I was a little suspicious. Why? Because some of the best running shoes cost an arm and a leg. My personal running shoes, the Hoka Speedgoat 5 GTX, are no different, at $170.

Yes, I know that the Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 and the Hoka Speedgoat 5 GTX are a different caliber of shoe with different purposes. For starters, my Hokas have Gore-Tex, and the Skechers don't have any waterproofing.

On top of that, my Hokas are a trail-running/hiking shoe, whereas the Skechers are a beginner-friendly road running/treadmill shoe. Even so, I didn't expect to like the Skechers as much as I did.

Bouncy castle or running shoe?

If I could change one thing about my Hoka sneakers (other than the price), I would change their bounciness levels. Yes, they have Vibram soles, but there's very little foamy cushioning in the soles themselves.

The Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 are a different story. The sneakers have Skechers' 'GogaMat' foam sole. This foam sole basically cools your foot while you're running and is super cushioned.

I don't call myself an avid runner — actually, I need to be almost forced to go for a run most of the time — so the cushioned sole was a really nice feature. I felt like the shoes were propelling me along, and I didn't have to put much effort in at all.

I also embarked on a sprinting race with my boyfriend (who is an avid runner, and has completed marathons) and, with the Skechers' help, I won! Trust me, this never happens. He may have been letting me win, but boy, I felt like I was flying thanks to the super-cushioned GogaMat sole and the rockered toe box.

Running doesn't have to be expensive

I know all the running gear quickly adds up. Due to cost, I only have one pair of shoes (two, now, thanks to this review pair of Skechers), and I don't have any running gear like vests.

So while running can be a daunting hobby to take up if you don't want to invest loads of money into something you might end up hating, the Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 are the perfect starter shoe.

At just $85, these sneakers are cheaper than almost any other running shoe I've ever come across. There are some sacrifices due to price, like no waterproofing, but as a whole? I could barely tell the difference between my Hokas and the Skechers.

Actually, the Skechers were more immediately comfortable. I do think my Hokas are better suited to cross-country, muddy, or longer runs than the Skechers will ever be, but for short road runs or treadmill runs (which is what beginners will get up to, I think), the Go Run Elevate 2.0 shoes are perfect.

There's always a but...

But...

All that being said, I don't think the Skechers are for everyone. As I touched on earlier, I think runners who gravitate towards cross-country or long runs might be better off elsewhere — I'd always go for my Hokas in those cases.

On top of that, runners who do a lot of speedwork, need more physical supports due to gait, or marathon training will need something more supportive. In that case, I can recommend the Saucony Guide 17 (for support) or the Brooks Glycerin 21 (for comfort on long runs).

Even so, for just $85? These Skechers are the ideal choice for complete beginners, and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

The Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 are some of the best running shoes for beginners. At just $85/£80, they’re budget-friendly, so an ideal amount of investment for someone just starting. If you’re running on a treadmill or just on the road, these could be the best beginner-friendly shoes on the market right now.

I loved how comfortable these running shoes were. The 1½-inch foam heel provided excellent bounce and cushioning during road running. On top of that, Skechers’ GogaMat sole foam is cooling, which helped me on runs in 70°F weather (hot for the U.K., trust me).

While the sneakers aren’t waterproof, they performed excellently in dry weather on the road and during sprint training. I’d get another pair for trail running as I doubt the Go Run Elevate 2.0 would perform as well on rugged or muddy terrain. I’ll discuss everything in detail in this Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 review.

Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 are $85 from Amazon U.S. (women), $85 from Amazon U.S. (men), £80 from Amazon U.K. (women) and £80 from Amazon U.K. (men). They’re available in both men’s and women’s styles and sizes.

This is a very good price for cushioned running shoes; my personal running shoes are the $175 Hoka Speedgoat 5 GTX, which, granted, have Gore-Tex, but are still more than double the price of the Skechers.

Our best running shoes, the Ascis Novablast 5, are $139 from Amazon U.S. I think if you’re just starting out and unsure if you want to spend over a hundred dollars on some running shoes, then the Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 are a perfect option.

The Go Run Elevate 2.0 are available in the following colors: Black, Bluish Pink, and Fuschia Pink, sizes 6-11 (U.K. 2-8). I tested the bright pink version, but I probably would have chosen the black. In the men’s style, they’re available in: Black, Gray/Orange, and Red, from sizes 9-13 (U.K. 7-9.5).

Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 review: Design

Right off the bat, I’m going to say it’s amazing that the Go Run Elevates are completely vegan, so anyone can use these regardless of lifestyle choice. I’m not vegan, but I only buy vegan clothing and footwear so this gets a big thumbs up from me.

The upper is made from a synthetic knit fabric with no waterproofing, but very breathable. The shoes are laced and the laces stay tied up even on one knot, which is more than I can say for the Hoka Speedgoat 5 GTXs, which love to come untied.

Unfortunately, there’s no physical support around the heel or the Achilles. In no way did I feel unsupported during testing, but it’s worth noting that if you need extra support from your running shoes, you’d be better off looking somewhere else. I can recommend the Saucony Hurricane 24.

I also loved the padded tongue, which was super protective of my foot bridge and made the shoes even more comfortable.

The midsole has ultra-light cushioning, which is effectively just a foam sole. Given the price point, this is a basic sole and doesn’t live up to Brooks Glycerin or Puma’s DNA Loft V3, but I found the shoes gave decent arch support and cushioning without being heavy. Even when I was landing quite hard, the shoes absorbed a lot of the shock. My ankles and knees didn’t hurt at all after running.

The soles have Skechers’ trademark GogaMat foam. Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 shoes have a 9mm drop, which provides a lot of heel support and bounce during use. The soles are 1½ inches high at the heel and I found this cushioned my feet during runs well.

I ran in around 68°F weather (very hot for the U.K., trust me) and my feet never overheated or got sweaty. The shoes did well to combat the outside heat. The breathable materials paired with the cooling foam really did the trick.

Perhaps the only complaint I have with the Go Run Elevates is that they’re pretty roomy around the toe box and the ball of my foot. While this is good for those with wide feet, it’s worth noting for narrower-footed people. Right now, these shoes are only available in standard width.

I have narrow feet, but it also meant that the shoes creased easily when I was running. When I tried to tie the laces tighter to prevent this roominess around my toes, the shoes were too tight on my bridge.

Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 review: Performance

Obviously performance is very subjective: what I like may not equal what you like. I loved the Go Run Elevate’s bouncy, airy soles and the 1½-inch height. This enabled me to run with ease, and my legs felt supported and comfortable during sprinting.

I have a neutral gait, so my feet and ankles don’t tend to roll. If yours do, it’s worth looking at shoes with more support such as the Saucony 24 Hurricane I mentioned earlier.

Thanks to the rockered ride and bouncy foam, I felt comfortable and assisted on runs when my legs were getting tired. The bouncy soles were truly a lifesaver when I didn’t want to go any further, as the shoes almost did all the work for me.

The Go Run Elevate 2.0 are plate-free running shoes. Plate-free basically means there’s no carbon plating between the sole and cushioning. This means they’re lighter and more breathable, but might not be ideal for longer or more intense runs. As a result, I’d recommend these shoes for beginner runners or those who tend to do 5ks rather than marathons.

Given the 8.2-ounce weight, these shoes are incredibly versatile and lightweight. I could barely notice any weight on my foot whatsoever. The Go Run Elevates are lighter than the Saucony Ride 18 ($140) and the Brooks Glycerin 21 ($160).

More seasoned runners may want to look elsewhere: I recommend the Brooks Glycerin Max ($200, which has a nitrogen-infused sole for supreme bounce) or the carbon-plated Hoka Cielo X1 2.0 ($275).

Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 review: Verdict

The Skechers Go Run Elevate 2.0 running shoes are ideal for beginners. I say beginners because they’re pretty cheap — just $85. Runners who need a carbon plate shoe (for racing or speedwork) should look elsewhere.

Considering they’re just $85, it’s not surprising that they don’t have waterproofing. I’d recommend these for use on a treadmill or casual road running. If you’re a trail runner, you might want to look at Gore-Tex sneakers like the Hoka Speedgoat range.

For me, though, these running shoes are ideal. They’re very comfortable and the 1½-inch thick foam provided extra help on runs where I needed a little extra help. If you’re a beginner, I can’t recommend these enough.

Amazon Prime Day Skechers Deals

One of the most common pieces of advice when going to CES is to wear a good pair of shoes. As a veteran of more trade shows than I can count, I can attest that this adage holds true. There's nothing worse than sore feet.

In preparation for CES 2023, I decided to get a new pair of shoes, as I knew I'd be walking for miles and standing most of the day for four or five days straight.

After reading Jane McGuire (our fitness editor)'s story on how she walked 100 miles in the Skechers slip-on shoes, I decided to give them a try. And did they come through. 

I didn't go with the exact same model Jane tried (the Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Advantageous), but instead went for the Skechers Go Walk Max, which came in a nice Navy Blue with a white sole. I liked that they were very plain, with few markings on the outside — kind of like a pair of boat shoes. Unlike Jane, who found hers a bit too large, the Go Walk Max' felt perfectly sized for my foot.

Even better: I scored them for just $45 on Zappos. 

One of the first things that drew me to the Skechers was that they were slip-on shoes, which are great if you have to go through airport security. There's nothing worse than fumbling with shoelaces when you're trying to get to your gate on time. (Ironically, I was able to keep my shoes on when going through security at Newark airport).

Once at the show, the Skechers were ace. According to the Garmin Epix 2 on my wrist, over the course of four days — Tuesday through Friday — I walked a total of 27.1 miles (53,878 steps), averaging roughly 6.8 miles per day. Thursday alone, I walked nearly 10 miles, as I traipsed back and forth from the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center a couple of times.

Yet, in all that time, my feet felt incredibly comfortable. The insole, made of what Skechers calls "Goga Max" was very cushiony, and provided a nice little spring in the heel. 

The only drawback I found, if you can call it that, is that the upper portion of the shoe is a breathable mesh fabric. Normally, this is great (sweaty feet = stinky feet) but it's not ideal when standing outside on a cold winter day; the cold air penetrated right into my toes. You'll want to avoid puddles, too, as water will seep right in. 

Other than that, though, I've found them to be a great-looking and comfortable pair of shoes that are definitely going to be my go-to the next time I travel. 

As a fitness editor, I review sneakers for a living, so I know what I’m looking for when it comes to workout shoes. I want them to be comfortable, to fit well, and to be supportive as I run, squat, and walk around. So when I heard all of the hype around the Skechers slip-in shoes, I decided to put them to the test. 

I’ve already reviewed the Skechers Go Walk shoes and was impressed by the Arch Fit insole system, which is podiatrist-certified and offers instant arch support as you move. Yet the insanely popular slip-ins were new to me. Would they live up to the hype? And how would they compare to some of the best running shoes or the best hiking boots on the market? Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth review: Price and availability

The Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth shoes cost $110/£120 and are available in both men’s and women’s sizing, although the men’s version of the shoe is named Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Advantageous for some reason. The women’s shoe comes in three colorways in the women’s version — black, black/white, and black/burgundy (in the UK there is a white/black version) and two in the men’s — black and navy.

The shoes come in women’s sizes US 6 to US 11 in a medium and a wide fit, and men’s sizes US 8 to US 14. Both the men’s and women’s shoes come in half sizes. 

Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth review: Design and fit 

By design, the Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth shoes are a slip-on shoe, with a thick, comfortable mid-sole, and a breathable mesh upper. As a personal preference, a slip-on shoe wouldn’t be my go-to, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and while these won’t be making it onto any catwalks anytime soon, they didn’t look like orthopedic shoes.

I opted for the white/black version of the shoe, which probably wasn’t the most sensible decision heading into winter, but I felt they looked most like the normal workout sneakers I’d reach for. Plus, unlike the best women’s running shoes, these are machine washable, so will, in theory, be easier to clean — great if you’re as fanatical as I am about keeping your sneakers clean.

One thing to note here is that I really struggled with the fit of these shoes. I wear a UK 4.5 in my everyday sneakers, but a UK 5 in my running shoes (confused? Check out my guide on how to buy running shoes here). When I was testing the Skechers Go Walk shoes, I found the UK 5 miles too big, so I opted to go down a whole size in these, wearing a UK 4. Yet even with thick workout socks, I still struggled, with my foot slipping slightly at the back of the shoe. This might be a style thing — slip-on shoes, by nature, aren’t going to be as customizable as lace-ups, as you’re not able to pull the upper tight against your foot. Yet it might also be my feet — I have incredibly high arches, so it might be that the slip-in shoes just aren’t for me. Either way, if you’re between sizes, I recommend sizing down, or ordering both pairs and trying these on at home (on the carpet). 

Upper 

The upper of these shoes is much like you’d expect from a workout sneaker — soft, stretchy, and breathable. The knit upper isn’t too snug against the foot, which is often the case with bootie-like uppers such as this one, and I didn’t struggle with any rubbing or chafing. There’s also a decent amount of padding around the heel of the shoe, which helped, as even though I experienced the shoe slipping slightly, it didn’t leave me with blisters. 

Midsole 

The midsole of this shoe is where the magic happens — they really are like walking on a cloud. Before my Skechers arrived, I’d read a lot of reviews to try and understand where the hype was coming from. A lot of doctors and nurses swore by them for long days on the wards, and a few customers said they wore them as slippers. They weren’t wrong to do so — these are seriously comfortable shoes. 

Skechers says this is down to a couple of factors — the Heel Pillow design that cradles your foot and keeps it in place, the plush foam, named ‘Max Cushioning Elite’, the breathable insole, and the natural rocker geometry of the shoe, which rocks you forward slightly as you walk. When comparing this to the Skechers Go Walk shoes, I’d say it’s slightly plusher. It feels soft underfoot, and when standing at my desk and working in these, my feet felt supported.

That said, while I could comfortably walk around all day in these when heading out for actual hikes in them, I felt like I needed a little more support. More on this below. 

Outsole 

The outsole of these shoes is definitely best suited to sidewalks, light trails, and treadmills. I wouldn’t recommend taking these off-road, as there’s not a huge amount of grip or deep lugs to help you grip. Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth review: Performance 

From the get-go, I found these shoes extremely comfortable. I could easily wear them all day, but would I recommend them for workouts or hiking? Probably not. I’ve worn these shoes for over 100 miles over the past month, both on faster power walks with my unruly cocker spaniel in tow, for walking workouts on the treadmill (check out what happened when I did the 12-3-30 workout for a week, and the best walking workouts to try), and just running errands. While the shoes were comfortable, I’d personally recommend some more support for longer hikes. 

Of course, this could be a personal preference — as mentioned above I struggled with the sizing and have high arches, but I found I missed being able to lace the shoes up tightly around the top of my foot on longer walks. That said, when I was walking to the shops, standing at my desk, and just going about my day, they were super comfortable. 

They are also, by design, wonderfully easy to slip on and off, so if you have mobility issues, you’re traveling a lot, or you’re just looking for shoes you can slip on in a hurry after a yoga class, these are fantastic. 

Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth review: Verdict 

If you’re looking for a super-cushioned, super-comfortable pair of slip-on sneakers, you won’t find anything more comfortable than the Skechers Slip-in Max Cushioning Smooth shoes. They’re wonderfully plush, and really do make you feel like you’re walking on clouds.

That said, if you’ve got ambitions to go on hikes or long walks wearing these shoes, I’d shop for the Skechers Go Walk shoes or something like the Nike Pegasus 39 instead, which has a little more support across the top of the shoe and the ankle thanks to the lacing system. 

I review running shoes for a living, but more often than not, you’ll find me walking around in shoes that aren’t all that practical — fashion trainers, Converse and heels. That said, as I started the long and boring process of recovering from a twisted ankle, I reached for a pair of shoes that have been on my to-test pile for a while now — the insanely popular Skechers Go Walk workout walker. 

Sure, they might not look as cute as my Veja’s, but after 50 miles of walking in the Skechers, I’m never going back. But how do they compare to some of the best running shoes or the best hiking boots on the market, and how comfortable are they after longer hikes?

Skechers Go Walk Workout Walker review: Price and availability

The Skechers Go Walk Workout Walker costs $125/£110 and comes in a number of different colorways — the original design comes in a grey and black/white colorway, but there are a number of different collections to choose from. 

The shoes come in men’s sizes US 7 to US 13 and women’s sizes US 5 to US 8.5. Both the men's and women's shoes come in half sizes. 

Skechers Go Walk Workout Walker review: Design and fit 

Let’s start by talking about the design of these shoes. I haven’t worn Sketchers since I was a kid, and the main reason why is because I’ve never thought the shoes look particularly appealing. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I was impressed with the design of the Skechers — while they won’t be making it onto any catwalks anytime soon, they didn’t look like orthopedic shoes.

I opted for the gray/turquoise colorway, but recently spotted the outspace black/lavender shoe and wished I’d seen them first. 

Fit-wise, I wear a UK 4.5 in my everyday sneakers, but a UK 5 in my running shoes (confused? Check out my guide on how to buy running shoes here). As I knew I’d be working out in these, I reached for the bigger size, but definitely have a little too much room in them, and have had to pull the laces tight to get a secure fit. In other words, as you won’t be running in these shoes, buy your usual sneaker size.

Upper 

The mesh upper on this shoe isn’t particularly lightweight, but thanks to the large mesh panels across the top and sides of the shoe, it is breathable. Comfort is the name of the game with the Go Walk workout walker, so there’s a thick, padded tongue to prevent any hotspots across the top of your foot as you stroll, and a good amount of padding around the collar.

I didn’t have any issues with blisters and wore the shoes solidly for a week of walking straight out of the box. 

Midsole 

The midsole of the Sketchers is where the magic happens. The Skechers Arch Fit insole system is podiatrist-certified and offers instant arch support as you move. The brand says this is developed with 20 years of data and 120,000-foot scans. The insole is removable and designed to give you a cushioned, comfortable walking experience. 

In the midsole of the shoe, there’s also Skecher’s Hyper Burst cushioning — designed to be responsive and lightweight underfoot and a carbon-infused plate, to help for a springy toe-off. 

Outsole

The outsole of the Skechers Go Walk workout walker is made from Goodyear rubber for traction and stability. While I tested these mainly on concrete sidewalks and lighter trails, I definitely wouldn’t recommend them for more technical hikes — check out the best hiking boots, which have additional ankle support, and the best trail running shoes, which will have deeper outsole lugs for more superior support. 

Skechers Go Walk Workout Walker review: Performance 

From the get-go, I was impressed with the arch support in this shoe. I have high arches, and my foot immediately felt cradled in the shoe, allowing me to walk comfortably. The cushioning is incredibly plush — I often spend my weekends on my feet heading out on longer hikes with my energetic (read: hyperactive) cocker spaniel puppy. I was easily able to walk and stand for most of the day wearing these, and it’s no wonder so many doctors and nurses opt for the brand. 

I was able to comfortably walk for miles in these shoes, I just wished I had read up on the sizing beforehand and gone down half a size to my normal running shoes — unlike when I’m running, I found my feet didn’t swell as much when walking, and I didn’t need the extra room in the toe box. 

After a week of walking around seven miles a day in the shoes, they showed no signs of wear or tear, and I’d imagine they’re up there with some of the best hiking boots in terms of durability. The rocker-style Hyper Arc design of the midsole helps your foot roll forward, for a comfortable toe-off, whatever speed you’re walking. The result is a bouncy, cushioned walk. 

Skechers Go Walk Workout Walker review: Verdict  

If you’re looking for a seriously comfortable pair of shoes, I’ve found them. In all my years of shoe testing, I’ve not been as instantly impressed with a pair of shoes — these gave me instant comfort, and the arch support is fantastic.
