As a hair tool reviewer and skincare fiend, it's no surprise that I'm a big fan of all things Shark. In my time at Tom's Guide AU, I've gotten to review and examine Shark's extensive range of home and beauty appliances, and I've been fairly impressed by the brand so far.

However, my biggest pain point is pricing. While Shark never ceases to amaze me, its pricing can be a touch inflated for those on a budget.

That said, Shark (and sister brand Ninja) has dropped some seriously attractive deals during its EOFY sale on its website and Amazon storefront. From now until July 1, 2026, you can save up to AU$180 off Shark's home appliances, from air purifiers to vacuums and fans. Better yet, the deals extend to Shark Beauty, with up to AU$150 off select hair tools, including my everyday staple, the Flexstyle, now 38% off.

I've gathered my top-rated EOFY deals from Shark below, but you'll need to act fast, though, as these hot home and haircare deals end on July 1, 2026.

I've been reviewing hair tools for over two years now, and I've had some serious hands-on time with the likes of the Shark, Dyson and Dreame airstylers. Up until now, my go-to airstyler was the Shark Flexstyle, as it packs an Airwrap-sized punch in a more affordable package. But now, I'm considering ditching it completely for Shark's newest entry.

The Shark Glam officially launched in global markets last year, building on the Flexstyle by introducing brand new attachments that truly make it an all-in-one styling solution. In our Shark Glam review, our Homes Editor, Millie, gave it a glowing 5-star rating, claiming that most people would "never need another hair styler again", as it would certainly replace most hair tools, from dryer to straightener and hot brush, thanks to its interchangeable attachments.

Notably, the new hair tool includes specialised ceramic straightener and brush styler attachments, which both utilise heat and airflow settings to achieve a frizz-free finish. As a wet-to-dry styler, it cuts down precious time on hair drying and styling, and can be used in either wet or dry mode across the attachments. It also has a cool shot to lock in styles and boost shiny locks.

As for pricing, the Shark Glam costs a modest AU$699.99, which is just AU$300 cheaper than its direct competitor, the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x and is available in Soft Gold or Soft Pink colourways. Note that Soft Pink is currently out of stock at Shark Direct, but it is available at retailers like Myer and JB Hi-Fi.

After going between my Shark Flexstyle and Dyson Airstrait depending on what hairstyle I'd like on any given day, I just know the Glam would save me plenty of time, especially given how easy it is to change attachments. If I wanted to curl my bangs but keep most of my hair straight, it would be effortless, and I wouldn't need to switch tools.

Even in her verdict, Millie noted that it's one of the most capable hair stylers she's ever tried, and that she can "basically get rid of every other hair tool in my styling arsenal now, because the Glam outpaces all of them".

As mentioned, if you're keen on nabbing the ultimate airstyler, the Shark Glam, you'd better act fast — it's already selling out at major retailers, so you'll need to hurry. When I was growing up, I never suffered from seasonal allergies despite constantly playing outside on fields of freshly cut grass and getting as close to the flower beds as I possibly could. But as I've become older, I've noticed that as soon as April rolls around and the flowers and trees in my area start pollinating, I get a serious case of the sniffles.

I always thought I was the chosen one who would never suffer with allergies, but oh, how wrong I was. Over the years, I've moved to different cities, and this can have an influence on my reaction due to the different environments, meaning that I've become more sensitive to things like dust and pollen.

So this year I've invested in the Shark Never Change air purifier, and it's completely altered my home. I've been using it for a month, and here are three of the biggest changes I noticed.

Reduced dust

The first thing I noticed within a week of having the air purifier was the reduced dust floating around my home. My house has never been dusty by any means, but it's only natural to spot dust floating around when sunlight beams in through the windows.

I hardly notice any dust now, and on my weekly clean, there's way less dust settling on surfaces. This has been a game-changer for me since, as well as dealing with seasonal allergies, my skin is extremely sensitive to triggers like disturbed dust.

The filters on the side of the air purifier need to be cleaned intermittently, and the more dust there is, the more often you'll need to do this. I find this task very simple: I pop out the side filters, wipe them down with a damp (not wet) cloth, let them dry, and then put them back in. You could also vacuum the filters if that's easier for you, and it saves you waiting around for them to be completely dry before reinstalling them.

Pollen detection

Whether you're someone who suffers the most when the tree pollen hits you as soon as you step outside, or whether it's the lingering effects it has in your house when it gets on your rugs that affects you the most, the air purifier is one of the easiest ways to combat the effects.

The HEPA filter ensures that particles as small as 0.3 microns are captured before the fresh air is returned to your home.

There are also settings on the screen that can show you the level of pollen in the air and how the air purifier is dealing with correcting this. I've let that dictate how often I take antihistamines, and it's become a great way to manage my symptoms.

Improved sleep

While the air purifier isn't in my bedroom, it works hard to filter the air from all around my home. As allergy season began, I was waking up in the night occasionally, but since having the air filtered, I've been sleeping like a baby.

I track my sleep every night with my Oura Ring, and the difference from the week before the air purifier and the week with the air purifier is undeniable.

Having this air purifier in my home has allowed my immune system to rest and created a sanctuary. I can't recommend a device like this enough, especially if you hate dealing with seasonal allergies like me.

Shark is no stranger to a good vacuum and at this point, I can find myself getting a little confused about which vacuum is which. Fortunately, the brand is well-versed in giving its vacuums names that lay out what each one is aiming to do.

This rings true with Shark's latest release — the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System. And what I'm really impressed about here is that Shark is finally combining two of its greatest features — smart technology and self-emptying.

Ultimately, it seems like a collaboration of the smarts found inside the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop and the self-emptying and charging station of the Shark Clean & Empty Cordless Vacuum. And it's on sale right now for just $499 at SharkNinja.

About the Shark PowerDetect Speed Empty & Clean System

The Shark PowerDetect Speed Empty & Clean System is a bit of a mouthful, but its name is such because of how many features it packs in. So, I won't complain too much.

Shark has your at-home space in mind and has created a lightweight, easy-to-maneuver vacuum that's compact enough to fit into smaller or busier homes. And that's all great news, but what I'm really interested in is the technology it packs in that'll both clean up your home and the vacuum itself.

PowerDetect Intelligence is one of Shark's most impressive features, automatically sensing mess and cleaning it up. Whether it's large debris or dirt hiding across multiple surfaces, the technology is dedicated to getting rid of it.

Throw in Dirt Detect that boosts power up to 50% in high-traffic areas and Edge Detect for increasing suction along walls and corners and you've got the next level of clean. There's even the TurboPro Detect brushroll here to really disturb and suction up the mess. A brushroll, I must add, that is also self-cleaning.

For smaller spaces, up to 60 minutes of runtime should be no issue, but there's also the hands-free Auto-Empty Dock, which is one of Shark's other great features. Not only will it charge your vacuum, but it'll also empty it after every clean and hold that debris for up to 45 days.

Here's why I can't wait to try it

My current Shark vacuum has been putting in the hard work for a few years now, but I've been on the hunt for a replacement. So, when I heard that the Shark PowerDetect Speed Clean & Empty System is "compact enough to fit seamlessly into smaller or busier spaces", the fact I have two small kids running around my home immediately sprung to mind. I vacuum a lot, but it never seems like enough with constant crumbs and debris.

Being able to try out a combination of Shark's PowerDetect technology that I've only been about to read about up until now with the self-emptying dock of the cordless vacuum is what I'm really excited to try out. Plus, the MultiFlex wand can get where I'm sure I haven't vacuumed in a really long time.

I'm almost nervous to see how much dirt the technology picks up on, sensing dirtier areas, floor types, and cleaning direction around my home and boosting suction to suit. And with a powerful blue LED light to glisten over all that hidden dust, I'm looking forward to seeing what it achieves across my home the more I use it.

At this point, I'm pretty convinced that Dyson and Shark are in some sort of competition to come up with the craziest names for their latest innovations. Dyson has the PencilVac Fluffycones and PencilWash, whilst Shark has the BlastBoss and ChillPill.

What I'm saying is I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the rooms where they come up with these names because I think a vacuum called DirtKing could really catch on. Anyway, while the names are unusual, there's nothing unusual about how impressive these products are. And in the latest addition to its line-up, Dyson has released its first ever portable handheld fan called the HushJet Mini Cool.

Why HushJet? Well, it harnesses the brand's HushJet technology that uses focused airflow with reduced turbulence and smoother, quieter acoustics. And while that also sounds like the recipe for a pretty dreamy plane ride, it's actually a wearable, handheld, or desk-friendly fan that has really caught my eye.

Meet the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool

Weighing in at just 7.5oz, the HushJet is the perfect companion for those hot, summery days. And while Shark has only recently launched the ChillPill, an eerily similar product that also offers misting, Dyson has some of its own features to rave about.

Aside from looking a little bit like a high fashion pore remover or facial cleanser, it's got some pretty impressive highlights including up to 6 hours of battery life and a high-speed brushless motor spinning up to 65,000 RPM. Now, I'm not sure how cool that's going to keep me, but it certainly sounds impressive.

With 5 speeds and even a Boost mode for those extra sweaty days, the HushJet has one goal in mind, to provide a mini cooling fan that you can take wherever you go.

Not only do you get the fan, available in three finishes – Stone/Blush, Carnelian/Sky (available May 2026), and Ink/Cobalt (available June 2026), but it even comes with a lanyard, charging stand, USB-C cable and travel pouch. It's really screaming out: "Take me with you!"

Here's why I can't wait to try it

Dyson is a bit of a master at making fans. Take the Dyson Cool CF1 bladeless fan, a redesign of the brand's iconic Dyson Cool from 2009 or the Dyson Hot+Cool 3-in-1 air purifier, heater and fan as two shining examples of the brand's impressive air care range.

And yet, this is the first time it's ever released a handheld fan, which is one of the main reasons I'm excited to try it. Taking "17 years of airflow mastery" into a portable cooling companion feels like a big deal.

An even bigger deal? It's actually incredibly affordable at just $99. Sure, in comparison to the questionable handheld fan I panic bought one hot summer from Walmart, it's pricey. But, said handheld fan is also not very good. Plus, in comparison to say the Shark ChillPill that'll cost you $149, it's competitive, especially considering it offers a range of features that I'm also eager to try.

Airflow speeds up to 25m/s (55mph), 6 hours of runtime, 7.5oz in weight, HushJet technology for a cool and quiet experience, and multi-functional use are all part of the line-up. But, I'll wait until I get a full hands-on experience before I say whether it's truly worth the money. For now, the signs are looking good.

Recently, on my hunt for the best robot vacuums, I came across the Roborock Saros 20, the brand's new flagship model. One thing came to mind, “This looks a lot like my Shark robot vacuum at home.” And while the two share similarities, their performance and cleaning features are wildly different.

As with most things, the vacuum that’s right for you comes down to a matter of personal preference. So, let’s take a look at the differences in the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch Pro and the Roborock Saros 20.

The Roborock Saros 20 is available at Amazon for $1,599 / £1,309. This is Roborock’s brand-new, premium flagship model, and it comes with all the bells and whistles to make your home cleaning as streamlined as possible. While the brand has some budget offerings like the Roborock Q10 S5+, the Saros 20 is for anyone ready to make an investment in home maintenance.

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch is available at Amazon for $1,299 / £949, which is a little cheaper than the Roborock. Again, the Shark has all the bells and whistles, but the Roborock edges into the lead slightly with better obstacle avoidance skills, and with that technology comes an increased price tag.

That said, it all depends on how advanced you want your home tech to be. That extra bit of cash spent on the Roborock could make all the difference in your cleaning experience.

Winner: Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1

Roborock Saros 20 vs Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: Design

Both of these robot vacuums are severely good looking, and there really isn’t that much separating them in size either; the dock of the Roborock is just an inch bigger in height, width and depth than the Shark.

The robots are the same diameter, at just under 14 inches, but the Roborock is slightly slimmer at 3.1 inches compared to the Shark’s 3.5 inches. This may not seem like much, but if you have some low-to-the-ground furniture you need to clean underneath, you have a better chance with the Roborock.

Both models have a clean-water and a dirty-water tank in their docks, but the cleaning solution needs to be manually added to the Shark; the Roborock adds it automatically as needed.

Both vacuums also have a small platform to help with ‘parking’ when returning to the dock. They both also have a slot for the mop to detach itself when not needed (which I’ll talk about more a little later).

The self-emptying bin is where these models start to differ. The Shark uses a bin that you remove and empty, but the Roborock uses a dust bag design. This comes down to personal preference, but you will need to replace the dustbags over time.

The Saros 20 wins me over because it has AdaptiLift Technology, which uses the wheels to easily lift itself over tougher terrain. And the FlexiArm design means that the side sweeping bristles actually extend out from the body of the vacuum cleaner. This gives better reach and coverage for areas that the vacuum can’t quite get to.

Winner: Roborock Saros 20

Roborock Saros 20 vs Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: App & mapping

Both robot vacuums are compatible with a companion mobile app. This means you can control them right from your smartphone without moving from the sofa (which is my favorite thing about robot vacuums).

Both of the apps work in similar ways, with quick mapping, zone settings, and scheduling options. But the Saros 20 brings a bit more intelligence to the table.

It can identify obstacles like room thresholds and literally climb over them by deploying two small arms. The Saros 20 also uses mapping and sensor technology to identify specific obstacles. It will automatically name your sofa to give a better picture of the room in the app. Also, as you use the vacuum over time, the robot’s knowledge of the area will improve and better inform it.

The Roborock Saros 20 also has some of the best navigation I’ve seen. It was actually like watching a dance as it moved around the table legs and detected and transitioned from carpet to hard floor.

But enough of me gushing over its waltzing abilities — it didn’t bump into a single thing, and even avoided people walking right in its path. The Shark finds this kind of disturbance a little more confusing.

Winner: Roborock Saros 20

Roborock Saros 20 vs Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: Vacuum & mop performance

It’s no secret that I love the Shark’s cleaning performance. It’s become the go-to in my home for tackling any spills or crumbs… but the Roborock Saros 20 does one heck of a good job too. While the suction power isn’t disclosed for the Shark vacuum, the Roborock has a suction power of 36,000Pa. That’s pretty powerful, and it’s not even that loud.

When the Saros 20 has the mop attached, it lifts itself off the carpet to avoid getting it wet. The Shark does this too. Both robots also leave the mops behind in the dock station. I love this feature in particular as it means I don’t have to fuss with removing the mop when it’s wet.

The Shark mops with a pad that moves from side to side. This is effective and gets my floors sparkling. But the Saros 20 uses two circular pads that rotate and add pressure in areas where stains are detected. The two pads can also move out from under the robot to get right up close to the edges of the room.

Winner: Roborock Saros 20

Roborock Saros 20 vs Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: Maintenance

Luckily for me — someone who hates touching anything dirty — both of these vacuums are totally self-sufficient. I never want to have to think about how much bacteria could be on a mop pad. They look after themselves until the dust bin or bag is full, and then it’s just a case of emptying them into your bin and putting them back in the dock station.

The Shark vacuum uses 185ºF water to clean the mop pad in the dock. This kills bacteria, and then to stop any damp smells from happening, the dock uses 175ºF air to dry the mop pad.

The Roborock Saros 20 uses 212ºF hot water to clean the mop pads and then dries them with 131ºF air.

Winner: Tie

Roborock Saros 20 vs Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: Which should you buy?

So as you can tell, there’s not that much in it. They both look pretty much the same and share very similar dimensions too. But the Roborock Saros 20 just beats out the Shark with its technical advancements, like the ability to climb over thresholds and identify specific obstacles.

The extra attention to detail with the extending mop pads and side sweeping brush also makes the Saros 20 an ideal choice for getting dust and debris from hard-to-reach spots. And for a navigation experience that is nothing short of majestic, the Saros is the obvious winner.

Shark is known for creating iconic products like the Shark Glam Multi-Styler and the last summer's viral Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo misting fan. And when it comes to cleaning up your home, they've got a range of items our experts have happily tested, including the 2-in-1 Shark VacMop and the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum.

But, how about something a little different? Namely, an air blasting system that works both indoors and out. Allow me to introduce you to the Shark BlastBoss, a product designed to help you clear up messes around the home with an airflow that works... well, like a boss.

About the Shark BlastBoss

The Shark BlastBoss is what the brand is called "a first-of-its-kind indoor-outdoor air blasting system", which is likely why it's given it the much catchier title of BlastBoss.

With an adjustable airflow of up to 190 MPH, it aims to budge messes like sand from your car seats or toys from under your couch or pine needles on your porch, demonstrating it can be used both in your home, outside, and even in your car. And fortunately, the adjustable airflow can be easily changed using a variable-speed button to give you the power you need, depending on the job.

As Julie Saldarriaga, VP of Marketing at SharkNinja explains: “At SharkNinja, we’re obsessed with solving the everyday problems people have simply learned to live with. Too often, disruptive messes don’t justify pulling out large, cumbersome equipment—yet they still demand attention. BlastBoss was engineered to fill that gap, delivering targeted, high-performance cleaning power in a compact, always-within-reach design."

Shark isn't done with just calling it the BlastBoss, though. With three interchangeable attachments, the company also offers a BlastBroom. For this, you get the airflow alongside a sweeping tool that can clear debris from patios and walkways whilst also blowing away mess.

Then, there's the extension wand for hard-to-reach places and a precision nozzle for concentrated airflow, like you'd expect on a vacuum. What you get with the BlastBoss though, is a compact and cordless solution for any messes you need to blow away, weighing in at under 1.5 pounds.

Here's why I can't wait to try it

At first glance, I'll be completely honest, I felt like the Shark BlastBoss looked like a stylish, but perhaps glorified, leaf blower. And it pretty much is, but its scope is so much larger. It's clearly versatile, working both inside and outside of your home, which I think is absolutely genius.

Knowing I could use it to reach into places I can't get to with my vacuum and blowing dirt out to places I can then reach to hoover it up is something I've been trying and failing to do with various other home items for ages.

And I'll admit, I also found it to be a surprising drop for the brand. Having recently covered the launch of the Shark's new misting and cooling handheld fan, the Shark ChillPill, I expected more cooling products to be released in the lead-up to summer.

While that's probably still the case, what I didn't expect was an air blasting system with a multitude of uses. But, its features are certainly drawing me in. I'll wait until we get our hands on it for a full review before I make any final judgments on it. What I do know is I can't wait to try it out.

I've been testing the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch for over a month now, and in that time, I haven't had to clean it once. That may sound quite disgusting, but the great thing about this robot vacuum is that it's totally self-sufficient and takes care of itself.

It's one of the best robot vacuums out there. It makes daily home cleaning so much easier when you don't have to worry about chasing around the robot vacuum and emptying it halfway through the cycle. The Shark vacuum empties itself of debris but also disinfects itself.

If you've got pets at home who are constantly dragging muddy paws through the house, this is a great solution, so you don't have to mop the floors every time it rains outside.

Keeping it clean

Many robot vacuums now pull double-duty, able to both vacuum your carpet and mop your floors. And, the better ones, like the Shark vacuum, will take care of themselves, too. Once it returns to the docking station, it cleans the mop pad with 185ºF water. This kills bacteria on the mop pad.

By doing this, the mop pad is good to go for the next clean cycle, and it eliminates the horrible damp smell you get from dirty mops lying around.

It dries too

So it just sits on the dock, drip-drying after it gets cleaned? Absolutely not.

The docking station then dried the mop pad with 175ºF air. This prolongs the longevity of the mop pad, keeping it fresher for longer.

Inevitably, you'll eventually need to replace the mop pad, as with most things, but the robot vacuum comes with a spare mop for when the time comes.

Refills after each clean

Once the cleaning process is finished, you don't even need to do anything to the dock.

First of all, if you want to only vacuum the floors and leave the mopping for another time, then the dock will store the mop so it's not dragging around on your floor. It will then reattach itself on its own when needed.

And as for the water in the vacuum, any dirty water accumulated while cleaning will be emptied into the dirty water compartment on the dock. The vacuum will then refill with clean water from the dock's reservoir with multi-purpose cleaner.

These compartments need to be refilled and emptied as and when, but after a month of cleaning my home, they are still going strong. Of course, this may vary depending on how much hard flooring your home has and on how often you run the vacuum.

The Shark has changed the way I clean my home, leaving me with more time to get on with other tasks while it ensures my floors stay sparkling at all times. And its ability to look after itself, so I never touch a dirty mop, is the cherry on top of the powerful cleaning.

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch is available at Amazon for $1,199 / £949. This is a premium model with all the bells and whistles, so it commands a premium price.

The Roborock Q10 S5+ is available at Amazon for $549 / £399. This is a lot cheaper than the Shark, but does it reflect in the performance?

Well, I’m going to spoil it for you here: absolutely. To be honest, it’s not even a competition, but it really depends on what your home needs. So let’s get into the details.

Like with most robot vacuum cleaners, these two models look virtually identical. They’re about the same size, so they can fit through the same-sized gaps and under the same height of furniture. But where things start to differ is the self-emptying docks.

But vacuums have a self-empty function, but the size of the docks is quite different. The Shark dock measures 18.2 x 17.5 x 14.3 inches, so it takes up quite a lot of space, whereas the Roborock is a little more discreet and measures 10.2 x 8.3 x 7 inches.

The Shark dock is also capable of a lot more since it is entirely self-sufficient, as it can wash and dry its mop and refill with water. The Roborock is a lot more hands-on since you ned to fill the water manually and clean the mop attachment after each use or else risk a funky smell.

Both robot vacuums have access to a companion mobile app. This makes controlling the vacuums super simple. And honestly, both apps work very similarly.

The Wi-Fi connection process is straightforward with both vacuums. Both apps also give you the option to name rooms, set schedules and zones, and follow the vacuum’s progress live.

Getting an accurate map of your home is also super quick with both devices and takes under 10 minutes, meaning you’re able to get going right away.

Where the vacuums differ is the navigation. While the Shark is reliable, the Roborock is an absolute nightmare. It required me to babysit it the entire time it was cleaning, as it kept getting itself jammed and mounted on top of things. It even dented my wash basket by ramming into it repeatedly. So yeah, I think the Shark takes this one.

Shark doesn’t specify the suction power of this vacuum, but it has three settings, all of which are totally effective in picking up debris and leaving carpets and hard floors dust-free. The side sweep bristles get everything out from the edges of the room too.

The Roborock has a max suction power of 10,000Pa, which sounds impressive, but when it’s in action, it’s not so impressive. Having the Roborock set to its max power drains the on-board battery incredibly fast, so it had to dock to charge three times before completing the cleaning process, which the Shark can do with about 50% of its charge.

The Roborock left my floors clean, but it’s frustrating that it’s not as efficient as the Shark.

Both vacuums have mop attachments and can recognize carpet and hard flooring, so they know when to deploy the mop. The Shark certainly gets a more sparkling clean result than the Roborock as it heats the water to remove even tough stains.

The Shark attaches the mop pad itself to the dock when it needs it, meaning it’s not always dragging around, which is useful. It also cleans the pad with 185ºF water to kill bacteria and dries it with 175ºF air to avoid any damp smell. This makes the user experience incredibly easy.

The Roborock always has the mop attached and requires you to manually remove and wash it after every use. This becomes tedious, especially when you have other tasks to get on with, and the whole reason you got a robot vacuum was to do the vacuuming and mopping for you.

So which one is the winner? I think it’s clear that the Shark takes the top spot in every area apart from the price. But is it actually worth that premium dollar?

Absolutely. The beauty of a robot vacuum is to make life easier and give you time to take care of other tasks or simply kick back and relax. The hassle that comes with the Roborock just doesn’t seem worth it.

The Shark vacuum makes day-to-day cleaning in my home so easy, and it’s the perfect home addition for anyone with pets who drag their muddy paws through the house, because that hot water can take care of any stains.

With spring here and summer fast approaching, I can’t wait to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. However, to stay cool and avoid overheating as the weather warms up, you'll need a stylish way to beat the sweat.

Cue Shark’s aptly named ‘ChillPill’, a portable cooling fan designed to provide cooling relief wherever you go. This ergonomic and compact device is small enough to fit in a handbag and comes with three different mini attachments, guaranteeing maximum comfort on the move.

Perhaps my favorite feature is the cooling plate, which can be placed directly on the skin, alongside the 10-speed fan and a handy misting attachment. What’s more, this promises cooling for up to 11 hours (on the lowest speed), and comes in a choice of seven vibrant colors.

While this all sounds impressive, the ChillPill does come at the eye-watering price of $150, which is probably less than what I've spent on a regular standing fan. Still, I was keen to try out this much-talked-about gadget and see if it could actually replace those disappointing handheld fans I'd been stuck with.

I decided to give the Shark ChillPill a test right after my morning yoga. Here are three things I liked — but there's one thing I wasn't crazy about.

3 things I liked about the ChillPill

1. Compact size and ease of use

At first glance, the ChillPill looks like a pair of binoculars rather than a portable cooling gadget. That's because of its unique dual-cylinder shape, and I like that you can angle it to either use it as a handheld device or set it up as a tabletop fan for hands-free use.

Tipping the scales at just 0.77 pounds, it's super lightweight and compact, which is ideal to fit nicely inside your purse or travel holdall. Plus, the included pouch is a nice bonus, making it easy to just toss into your bag.

Although it's pitched to be a wearable gadget, it's slightly disappointing that the lanyard isn't included—you have to buy that separately. Still, the ChillPill is ergonomic and straightforward to use

What’s more, this gadget is easy to use. To get started, just slide the power lock to "unlock" and then press the LCD screen. You'll see the fan speed and the battery status (it's green or red) appear. Want to change the fan speed? Simply twist the dial to adjust to your liking.

Swapping out the different attachments is a breeze too—they just screw on and off and take seconds. Even the misting pod is straightforward, you just fill the mini tank with water to the top, install the pod with a click, and rotate the cap to release the mist. Although, you might want to hold it closer to your skin/face to feel maximum benefits of this.

2. Impressive cooling power

Unlike my other handheld, rechargeable fans, which always seemed to lose their ‘cool’ after a while, the ChillPill was impressive.

Despite its miniature stature, the ChillPill gave an instantly cool, powerful blast— better than my usual rechargeable fans that fade fast, (and I soon get warm again). I was genuinely surprised by how mighty the cooling was, even with its small, bladeless design; it felt like having a mini air conditioner in my hand.

It goes up to speed 10, but honestly, settings 3-4 was sufficient for me to quickly cool down indoors. Shark claims that settings 9 and 10 are best suited to handle sweltering days outdoors, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what it can do when summer really hits!

3. The InstaChill cooling plate

Perhaps the key selling point for me is how versatile the ChillPill cooling gadget is, giving you way more options than your average handheld fan. The Insta Chill cooling plate was a personal favorite; I used it all the time as it gives you that instant, super refreshing cold hit on areas such as your wrists, neck, and forehead.

You can opt for two cooling settings. Level 1 is ideal for chilling indoors, while Level 2 is a colder setting and works great whether you're inside or out. In fact, placing the cooling plate on my neck (sides) and forehead straight after a workout brought a welcome sense of relief.

Bear in mind that you won't be able to use the fan feature whilst the cooling plate is attached. So you'll need to swap it out each time, which you might find a little inconvenient.

...and 1 thing I didn't like

1. Noisy

While the Shark ChillPill checks most of the boxes for a portable fan, it’s a shame that its noise levels at high settings let it down. Setting 1 gave a gentle hum, measuring in at 42dB on my sound meter, which gradually got louder from setting 5 (at 58dB).

By the time you get to the max setting 10, it's at an alarming 70dB—that's about as noisy as my small hairdryer, and was definitely loud enough to drown out a conversation.

Perhaps this would work well in large outdoor events, parks, or even music festivals, where you wouldn’t necessarily be put off by the fan’s noise. But you definitely wouldn’t want this in an indoor or quiet setting where you just want to relax in peace.

The bottom line

Granted, you could probably buy a decent, portable/handheld fan for a fraction of the price — but that wouldn’t necessarily offer you the versatility.

And while the Shark ChillPill might look more like a fashion accessory or a viral fad you're likely to find on a TikTok shop, this certainly packs in the power to instantly cool you down, and get the job done.

I particularly like its game-changing, cooling plate that comes in handy, and its lightweight size makes it convenient to wear, commute with, and travel around with ease.

For the hefty price, it doesn't come with any app connectivity, and it is noisy at higher settings. But if you simply want unwavering power that can keep you cool on the go (and in style), I'd say the Shark ChillPill handheld fan is a summer essential.

Meet the Shark "ChillPill", coined by the brand as "the only 3-in-1 personal cooling system that helps you keep your cool in the heat." And it takes the phrase "take a chill pill" to a whole new level.

About the Shark ChillPill

As a 3-in-1 cooling system, you might be wondering how it achieves all three goals while also being wonderfully small — and that's with three interchangeable cooling attachments.

One works as a high-speed fan that can project air up to 7.5m/s. One delivers an evaporative mist that refreshes skin with either a constant or interval setting. And the last is the InstaChill cooling plate that can lower local skin temperature by up to 48°F.

As James Kitto, SVP, Managing Director of EMEA at SharkNinja puts it: "Current personal cooling options simply haven't kept pace with how we live today. Consumers have been making do with inadequate fans that felt awkward to use in public. We wanted to offer them an effective cooling option that truly fits their lifestyle."

And as I stare at the handheld fan that I desperately gripped against my face all last summer while it blew hot air at me, I think it might be time for an upgrade.

Here's why I can't wait to try it

I love the sunshine, but I also get easily hot and bothered chasing my two small kids around whilst out and about. The park seems like a good idea, until you're in it and there's not a touch of shade in sight. The idea of being able to strap the Shark ChillPill to me then, freeing up my hands for summer activities, is actually genius. And having lived with the Shark HydroGo last summer surviving warm nights and outdoor picnics, I know how good Shark is at keeping you cool.

Fortunately, Shark has also thought about the design aspect of wearing the fan, making sure it's lovely to look at too, with a wide choice of attractive colors including Carbon, Iced Latte, Haze, Dragon Fruit, Glacier, Matcha and more. Not only are the colors trendy, but so are their names. It's not just light green, it's Matcha. And it's never a bad thing to be spoilt for choice.

Shark is also selling accessories to go along with the ChillPill and I've already got my eyes on the cross-body and wrist straps. "Simply click it on, twist it into place, and cool down whether you're indoors or out," Shark says, and that is music to my sweaty ears.

I'll be the first to admit, my house doesn't get vacuumed nearly enough. As a family of five, with three very active teenagers and two dogs, the combination leads to plenty of dirt and dog hair being tracked all over our house.

I've owned several robot vacuums over the years, and even dabbled with a 2-in-1 robot that could vacuum and mop. Ultimately, I'd give up on them for various reasons. For instance, one model that continuously kept forgetting the map of our house, or another that made a huge mess with its mop pad every time it ran.

However, I’ve never used a premium-priced, 2-in-1 robot vacuum until now. Shark's new PowerDetect UV Reveal robot vacuum is equipped with plenty of interesting features, including a UV light that highlights stains and spills. I put the UV Reveal to the test for two weeks to see if its steep price tag is justified by its fancy list of features, and how it stacked up against the best robot vacuums on the market.

Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal Robot Vacuum: Design

In addition to the vacuum itself, the Reveal's box includes its dock, an air freshener to cover up any nasty odors of the bagless dustbin, a 12-ounce bottle of Shark VacMop multi surface cleaning solution, and two side brushes.

You'll need a dedicated space with plenty of room for the dock. It measures 17 x 18 x 14 inches, and needs at least one foot of room on either side, and two feet of room in front of it. When looking at the dock, the dustbin is located in the back-right corner and is easily removed by pressing a button located inside the handle on the right side of the housing.

The clean and dirty water tanks take up the entire width, running along the front of the dock. Both tanks have a top handle and are easy to take in and out of the dock. On the back-left side of the dock are two filters. One is a foam pre-motor filter that you'll need to clean every couple of months, along the post-motor filter on the left side of the dock behind a door that has the same cleaning cadence.

As for the Reveal itself, it looks like a standard 2-in-1 robot vacuum. On the front, it has an array of lights and sensors, including an RGB camera and a UV light that help with the Reveal detect edges, floor types, objects, and live environmental changes.

On top of the Reveal are four touch-sensitive buttons that are used to activate vacuum and mop modes (if you don't want to use the app), send the robot back to its dock, and set up Wi-Fi. Plus, the Reveal's internal dustbin is removable from the back, as is the mop pad plate.

In short, the Reveal looks like a typical 2-in-1 robot vacuum that could pull double duty with its mopping features. On the outside, at least, there's nothing in particular that stands out about the Reveal.

Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal Robot Vacuum review: Performance and Test Results

After finding a spacious spot for the dock and fully setting up the Reveal, which consists of signing into the SharkClean app and connecting the vacuum to Wi-Fi, and giving your vacuum a name. There are a handful of names you can select in the app — we went with Clean Elizabeth. Once that's done, the app will prompt you to let the vacuum map your home. It was fun to watch it roam around the house, randomly spinning in circles as it scans the room and adds to its map.

With the map created, you're then prompted to let the vacuum go around your house and identify carpet and hard floors so it knows where to vacuum and where to mop. The entire setup and mapping process took about an hour. Once it was done, I set Clean Elizabeth loose on its first vacuuming run, which took just over two hours to complete.

This was the first robot vacuum to run in our house in at least a few years. We'd previously given up on them because of how inconsistent and frustrating they can be. But I'm here to tell you, reader, that the Reveal not only met expectations but exceeded them.

Our linoleum, even without mopping, along with carpet throughout the house, looked clean and refreshed. Instead of a random pattern on the carpet, as we've experienced with Ecovacs, the Reveal takes a zig zag route, much like I'd do when vacuuming a room.

Pretty lines on my carpet aside, the Reveal performed well in our lab tests which consist of testing how well it picks up 10 grams of Cheerios, 20 grams of kitty litter, and 2 grams of pet hair in a 5 x 5-foot carpeted and linoleum area. We originally ran the Cheerios test with 20 grams, but the dustbin inside the vacuum wasn't big enough to hold it all, making a mess in the process.

As you can see, the Reveal cleaned up nearly everything it encountered on the linoleum. It cleaned up 99% of the Cheerios, 98% of the kitty litter, and 93% of the pet hair I tested with. Other than the Cheerios, where there were 1.5 rings left, there were zero granules of litter and no visible pet hair on the floor. I can only assume whatever didn't make it into the dustbin is trapped in its internal filter or brushes.

When it comes to performance on carpet, it excelled in two of the three tests, picking up 95% and 100% of the Cheerios and pet hair, respectively.

The kitty litter test is where it struggled, picking up just 55% of the starting amount. However, I can't fault the Reveal. Instead, I blame the small kitty litter granules and the longer carpet threads. When pouring the litter over my carpet, almost all of it immediately disappeared or got caught in the carpet fibers.

The fact that the Reveal collected half of it was a surprise to me, and for that, I commend it. It took a few more passes with a regular vacuum before I got most of the litter out.

The Reveal is equipped with a UV light that helps it find hard-to-see stains on hard surfaces or carpet. The light isn't constantly on, but instead the vacuum randomly flashes it as it works through its route.

A robot vacuum with a UV light has the potential to be something nightmares are made of simply for the fact that it quickly reveals spots and stains you otherwise couldn't normally see. Watching the vacuum get to work in the kitchen, for example, would randomly reveal spots on our linoleum floor where a dog had drooled while waiting to be fed, or where we'd spilled something and never cleaned up. I didn't have the willpower to watch the UV feature at work in the bathroom.

The Reveal will spend extra time on an area where it detects extra dirt or a stain, slowing down and changing the color of its LEDs on either side as an indicator. If the lights are purple, it detects extra dirt/debris and has increased power to clean up that spot. If the lights are blue, it has detected a stain and is spending extra time on that spot.

About halfway into a two-hour session of vacuuming the roughly 1,300 square foot top level of my home, the Reveal returns to its dock to empty its dustbin into the bagless dustbin in the dock. The process, as expected, is loud (similar to a normal vacuum) and lasts just a few seconds.

When it comes to mopping, I was equally impressed with the Reveal's performance. My kitchen and dining room floors looked as clean as they do when hand-mopped. The Reveal uses the same zigzag pattern it does when vacuuming, taking its time to ensure the edges along the walls and under cabinets get as much attention as the rest of the floor.

When strictly in vacuuming mode, the Reveal will leave the mop pad plate behind in the dock. And when it's time to mop, it'll pick it back up and get to work. Previous 2-in-1's I've used have had the pad permanently attached, and even though they claimed to lift the pad off the carpet, the end result was the robot dragging the pad everywhere, resulting in wet carpet and a filthy pad.

With the Reveal, it can traverse across carpet to other rooms, such as a bathroom, without dragging its mop pad across the carpet by lifting up the pad several inches. And then once it's on a hard surface, the pad is lowered. During a mopping session, if the pad gets overly dirty, the Reveal will return to the dock and briefly clean the pad, then return to work.

Once it's completely done, it docks, cleans the pad, and then dries it. The dryer isn't as loud as I expected. It's a constant, low-volume hum similar to what a refrigerator sounds like.

After the end of a full cleaning session, taking roughly two hours, the Reveal's battery would be between 35%-40% remaining charge, which is right on the 3-hour estimated battery life.

Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal Robot Vacuum review: App and Smart Home Compatibility

To get the most out of the Reveal, you'll want to use the SharkClean app. The app gives you total control over the robot. After the initial setup, you'll want to spend some time labeling your rooms and editing the map to ensure it reflects your home's layout.

Editing the map was and still is one of my main frustration points with the app overall. When the Reveal mapped my primary bedroom, it included the primary bathroom and made it just one big room.

I wanted to separate the two (helpful because the bathroom is hard flooring), but when trying to draw a line across the map to separate the two rooms, it took multiple attempts to get the app to accept the change. The most common complaint the app made was that the room I was trying to create was too small.

Admittedly, my primary bathroom is small, but that shouldn't stop me from designating it as a standalone room, especially when you consider the fact that it needs to be mopped. After several tries, I ultimately got the app to accept the change by making the bathroom bigger than it actually is.

Otherwise, the app is easy to use and helpful in the overall experience. I can tell it to spot clean a roughly 5x5 area in a room, adjust how aggressively it mops or vacuums, and view stats after every cleaning session. Also available in the app is the ability to connect your vacuum to either Amazon Alexa or Google Home, allowing you to use either digital assistant to start a cleaning session, down to a specific room.

Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal Robot Vacuum: Verdict

Even with its $1,299 price tag, I've come away impressed with the Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal's overall capabilities and performance. The floors of my house look as if I'm paying a cleaning service to come mop and vacuum a few times a week. Even my wife, who is a harsh critic of robot vacuums, has had nothing but positive things to say about its performance.

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch is one of the best robot vacuums out there, and it’s pretty much self-sufficient. It has effective vacuuming that leaves carpets totally clean, and excellent mopping that leaves floors sparkling.

It’s self-emptying with anti-odor, and the NeverTouch system keeps the mop clean with thermal technology, so (as the name suggests) you don’t have to get your hands dirty. The quick home mapping is also useful. But the short power cord limits where you can position the dock, and sometimes the vacuum gets lost en route.

If you’re looking to save money, consider an option without a self-emptying system, such as the Ecovacs Deebot N20, which is priced at only $199 and still delivers an effective mopping and vacuuming clean. But if you’re totally set on a self-emptying model and want to keep costs low, then the TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus, which can look after itself, is only $219.

The Roborock Qrevo Curv, which costs $1,599, has similar features to the Shark, but costs a lot more. The Shark does a better job of vacuuming on carpeted surfaces, but the sleek look of the Roborock is what really sets it apart.

The ThermaCharged NeverTouch comes in black or white, and both colors look great. I tested the white colorway and it fit in perfectly with my home interior. Shark also offers another model, the similarly-named Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 NeverTouch, which lacks the mop pad drying technology of the ThermaCharged model but still mops and vacuums the home with ease. This model is priced at $999 but can often be found on sale for as little as $650.

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch has a design that, despite its larger stature with the self-emptying dock, still manages to look sleek. It doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb at all. As I mentioned, I tested the white colorway, which has champagne gold accents, making it a stylish addition to my home.

The setup measures 18.15 x 17.5 x 14.3 inches and weighs 26.9 pounds. So it’s not a small docking station like that of the Roborock Q7 M5 ($299), which sits neatly under most wall baseboards. But the dock of the Shark doesn’t need to be touched once it’s set up, and it provides a no-fuss option to keeping your floors clean.

The charging dock has a 0.4-foot cable, so it needs to be positioned near a power outlet. The only assembly required is the ramp, which guides the vacuum back to the charging prongs, and this clips on easily. Once the microfiber mop pad of the vacuum is placed in the dock, the robot vacuum attaches and detaches it all by itself.

The onboard dust bin holds 0.4 quarts, and this self-empties after every run into the debris bin on the base, which can hold up to 60 days of debris. You may think this would smell, but there’s an anti-odor cartridge that lets out a pleasant scent each time the dust bin is filled.

At the front of the base are two water tanks, one for clean water and cleaning solution, and another for dirty water that is unloaded from the vacuum. The clean water tank holds 0.45 gallons of water, and 12 ounces of this comes from the multi-surface cleaner that comes with the vacuum. This water tank can last for up to 30 days, according to Shark.

At the bottom of the robot vacuum are rugged wheels that help lift it over uneven surfaces like room boundaries with ease, and a smaller wheel for navigating. There is also a triple-arm side brush that sweeps up debris and puts it into the path of the vacuum.

The vacuum gives three hours of continuous cleaning on a full charge. This is pretty standard considering other models like the Roborock Q7 M5 ($299) have two and a half hours of battery life on a single charge. The battery of the Shark is more than enough for my home. But if it needs longer, it will take itself back to the dock to juice up. A full charge takes four hours to complete.

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch is compatible with the Shark Clean app. This is super easy to set up and use, and everything worked the first time around.

Once you create an account and connect to the device using your Wi-Fi network, you can name the device. After a quick poll in the office, we decided to name our new helping hand ‘Sharknado’ — a fitting namesake. Shark also provides some other name inspirations in the app.

I found the app to be most useful for setting up cleaning schedules. I could choose days and times to send the vacuum around the house and even let it know if I want it to mop or just vacuum.

You can also control the power of the clean and the water flow from the app. And if you need to stop the clean, you can send the robot vacuum back to the base. If you somehow misplace the vacuum or it gets lost during its cleaning expedition, you can use the app to make a noise to help you locate it. This is how I located the vacuum when it was lost in my dining room (even though the map said it was at the charging dock).

When I initially connected the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch, I sent it on exploration around the house. After about 10 minutes, it returned to the base to draw up a floorplan of the house. This didn't take long at all and was very accurate — I didn’t have to make any manual changes.

Once I had approved the floor plan, I could name the rooms and let the vacuum know which areas required mopping and vacuuming. I could even create zones that the vacuum should avoid.

While the map looked good, the vacuum struggled to follow it sometimes. As I write this, ‘Sharknado’ is having an absolute nightmare in the dining room while looking for the charging dock, which is located in the living room.

Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch review: Vacuum performance

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch is an extremely effective vacuum cleaner. It left my carpets feeling fresh, and I couldn’t see any debris in the house when the robot vacuum was done with a full clean. I have a dog, and he loves to bring dirt and leaves from the garden, but this was no problem for the Shark vacuum.

It moves around the perimeter of the room, using the triple-arm side brush to sweep everything into the vacuum path. To ensure everything is picked up, it also uses blasts of air to push debris from the edges of the room into the robot’s path, but this proved to have the opposite effect in some areas, causing more mess.

I was able to select how powerful the clean was in the app, and more power means more battery drainage. But the vacuum also has Dirt Detect, which will increase suction where it senses more dirt using on-board sensors.

I would’ve liked the option to select the number of passes the robot does in the room during a clean cycle. For example, the Ecovacs Deebot N20 gives you the option to choose if you want a single pass or a double pass for a more thorough clean. The Ecovacs app also shows a trace line of where the robot has already been, which you don’t get from the Shark Clean app.

When I want to do a deep clean, I still use my hand-held vacuum as it is far more powerful, and I can be more targeted with the edges and corners of the room. But for daily upkeep, the Shark robot vacuum is ideal.

Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch review: Mopping performance

When the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch isn’t mopping, it leaves the microfiber mop attachment in the charging dock, but when you request a mopping mission, it will attach it on its own — part of the NeverTouch technology.

When moving over carpeted areas with the mop attached, the robot picks up the back of the mop, so it’s never touching the carpet. It fills up its own water from the docking station too.

The mopping is very effective and left my floors sparkling. It was able to pick up muddy paw prints and shoe prints by the door. The mop pad wiggles from side to side, so it can reach even the edges of the room. It leaves floors pretty wet, though, and I needed to let everything dry for around 30 minutes.

When it returns to the dock, the Shark runs a clean cycle with 185ºF water before drying with 175ºF air. The water cleaning is quite loud, but the air is just a low hum that lasts for about 30 minutes — not too disruptive.

Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch review: Verdict

The Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch is an excellent robot vacuum with the premium looks to match its performance. The vacuuming functions on hard flooring and carpet are excellent, and the mopping mode leaves hard floors sparkling.

The NeverTouch dock means I didn’t have to fuss with the vacuum base or dust bin at all, making it simple to run the vacuum with a schedule and simply forget about it while it cleans my home.

The price tag is quite hefty considering there are far cheaper options with similar features out there, but you’re paying for the privilege of this robot vacuum taking complete care of itself. It also occasionally has some navigation issues, and the air blows debris in the wrong direction.

But while I still use a regular vacuum for deep cleans, the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 ThermaCharged NeverTouch has nevertheless become a staple device for everyday cleaning in my home.

Wet to dry stylers are a pretty big trend right now. Long gone are the days when you'd have to worry that you were damaging your hair beyond repair by straightening it with heat. It's now possible to style your hair straight from the shower with products like the Dyson Airstrait tumbling onto the market with its smart, frizz-free technology.

And now it's Shark's turn. Introducing the Shark SilkiPro Straight, the brand's first ever wet to dry styler. You might have heard of Silki before with attachments being added to existing hair tools like the Shark Glam Multi-Styler, but what makes the SilkiPro Straight entirely unique is the inclusion of an in-built and interchangeable comb to tackle all kinds of hair types.

The SilkiPro Straight

The Shark SilkiPro Straight is dedicated to styling your hair from wet to dry with the use of Intelligent Ceramic Heat and RapidDry Technology.

Julie Bailey Blanche, VP of Marketing, Haircare + Skincare at Shark says: "For too long, traditional hair straightening tools have forced people, especially those with curly, coily, and textured hair, to choose between results, time, and hair health.

"Shark SilkiPro Straight was designed to break that cycle, making it easier to achieve silky results, no matter your hair type or texture, all with just one tool."

And this one tool comes with three interchangeable combs to make sure the straight styler can produce salon-quality results. With every SilkiPro Straight, you get a wide-tooth comb for thick, long, textured, curly or coily hair, a gentle comb for natural, straight style, and a precision comb, for more tension and control – while all working to get you closer to the root.

The cost? $249.99. That's $300 less than the Dyson Airstrait that'll cost you $549.99 without the heat sensing ceramic plates and smoothing comb collection. And it's certainly not the first time we've seen a dupe with the Shark FlexStyle competing with the Dyson Airwrap in a competitive hair styling market.

Without the damage

As well as delivering a unique feature that we haven't seen before and catering to a wide range of hair types (all of them, if Shark's claims are true), the Shark SilkiPro Straight is also dedicated to protecting your hair from heat damage.

How? Through its HeatSense ceramic plate sensors which measure the temperature 1,000 times per second and adjusts it automatically to help prevent heat damage. And Shark even go so boldly as to state on the product page: "No heat damage. Just silky, smooth results for all hair types."

Considering heat damage is one of the main reasons I avoid hair straighteners altogether, it's a pretty big selling point for me knowing that I could style my hair without risking its quality. And it's also well over half the price of the Dyson Airstrait, which makes me incredibly intrigued. I'll reserve judgment though until we get our hands on it for a full review.

I've been captivated by Shark Beauty for quite some time now. Ever since I got my hands on a Shark FlexStyle, the beauty arm of the cleaning brand has slowly but surely taken over my personal collection of home and lifestyle products. Shark introduced new skincare-focused products to global markets last year, including the CryoGlow, helping expand the brand into further areas of beauty tech. If the tail end of last year is anything to go by, LED face masks have had their time to shine in recent months, with many hopping on board the viral beauty tech trend and adding a light-emitting mask to their skincare routine.

The LED light therapy masks in question can help boost collagen production, encourage skin rejuvenation and regulate oil production. In simple terms, whatever skin concern you may have, popping on an LED mask will likely help.

That said, LED face masks don't come cheap — and frankly, it has to be good, or you might as well be sitting in front of a lamp and hoping it helps your acne. Thankfully, the CryoGlow has been met with rave reviews across social media and publications, scoring a solid 4 stars in our own review.

Any Aussie beauty lovers keen on snapping up the CryoGlow won't have to wait long — Shark has already posted the waitlist on its website, so that eager beavers can get an email notification within hours of release. The exact release date? Well, that's still unknown for now, but Shark has assured us that it'll be available sometime in March, and AU pricing deets remain TBC.

Using LEDs to nip skin concerns in the bud

In our Shark CryoGlow review, Tom's Guide's Homes Editor, Millie, noted that after using the face mask for six months, it has become an integral part of her evening routine, making her "look healthier and glowier from the inside out". She also found CryoGlow's under-eye cooling patches were "life-changing", despite the mask's rather bulky appearance.

Using a range of colours to treat different skin concerns, Shark's CryoGlow emits specific wavelengths of light that penetrate the skin at various depths and trigger biological reactions. These light settings are known as four different "treatments", which will emit select LED colours. Those treatments are:

• Better Ageing: a six-minute treatment that uses red and infrared LEDs aimed to tackle fine lines and firm sagging skin.
• Blemish Repair: an eight-minute setting for those who suffer from acne, using blue light to kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce redness for a more even and clear complexion.
• Skin Sustain: uses a range of lights (blue, red, and infrared) over four minutes to enhance skin radiance and preserve optimal skin condition
• Under-Eye Revive: uses dedicated under-eye pads to cool and soothe tired or dry under-eyes for a tightening effect.

The main critique of the CryoGlow, however, came down to pricing. In the US, the device is priced at $350, which is around AU$500. Now, to me, that's a tough pill to swallow for any beauty product, let alone an LED mask. Granted, AU pricing has not been announced quite yet, but it may be worth the (hefty) investment if you want to revitalise your skincare routine.

And if I'm being honest, I can't wait to get my hands on one — but mainly, to scare the bejeezus out of my husband while using it.

Keep cool and stay warm in style

This fan is ultra-customizable. You can set the temperature to the number you desire using its intuitive magnetic remote control. Blue means cold, red equals heat. Simple. It has 10 cooling speeds and 3 heat modes.

You can position this fan two ways: vertically or horizontally, depending on where you'd like its airflow to reach. If you're in bed, you'll want to flip it horizontally so that the cool breeze blankets your body as you snooze. Placing it in your living room? Pop it in a corner and flip it vertically; it will take up less space and blend with your room. And yes, it still oscillates whether it's vertical or horizontal.

Our honest thoughts — and what shoppers think

We delve more into the Shark TurboBlade Cool + Heat in our dedicated review, but after testing it in several different spaces, we concluded that it's best suited for small-mid-sized, well-insulated rooms, and our reviewer, Cynthia, doesn't recommend it for rooms larger than 400 square feet. She loved the versatility of this fan, while its design received top marks, even though it doesn't benefit from app control, only remote control.

The nitty gritty

While this machine is corded, it benefits from a 10-foot-long wire so that you can place it wherever you please. It only weighs 21.5lbs, so moving it from one room to another isn't that difficult, while it has a handle to help with this, too. Essentially, it's the only fan you'll ever buy for your home, as it's all-season and works in any room. No more taking up precious table, nightstand, or dresser space — it sits on the floor and gets to work fast.

Good to know

It comes in two colorways — dove or charcoal. Sadly, only the charcoal is on sale right now at $199.99, but the dove shade is still cheap(er), at $249.99.

I don't know if you've noticed, but it's really, really cold right now. And as someone with dry skin on the best of days, the chill has me reaching for my most hydrating skincare products and slathering them all over my face. But if you want true, intensive hydration, one of the most popular treatments is called a hydrafacial. By extracting nasties from the pores and replacing them with skin-loving ingredients like peptides and hyaluronic acid, it's one of the fastest ways to get your glow back. But there's a major catch (or in this weather, two) — it's very expensive, and you'll need to leave the house to do it.

Shark's new FacialPro Glow makes a bold and possibly game-changing proposition for people like me: spend $100+ on one hydrafacial, or spend $400 and get a tool that will give you years of practically free facials, from home. While neither option is cheap, the math works out — so long as the FacialPro Glow works, that is.

So, I put it to the test at home for three months. While I'm no dermatologist, there's no denying that this gadget gives your skin an instant boost of radiance, banishing the dullness that can come from dry winter skin and preventing pores from clogging. The Depuffi attachment is my personal favorite feature, allowing me to give my neck a warm, comforting massage, or tighten my tired undereyes after a few too many drinks!

Here's my full verdict on the Shark FacialPro Glow.

Shark FacialPro Glow: First impressions

The Shark FacialPro Glow comes in a handy carry case which houses the battery, as well as both the extraction and contrast therapy attachments. There is also room for two nozzles inside, but seeing as my kit came with four nozzles (two sensitive, two normal), I was left without a space to store the excess.

Everything about this product feels sturdy and well made. The clean and dirty water containers click securely into place, the nozzle slots easily into the attachment, which also clicks satisfyingly into place on the battery base.

As for the Depuffi attachment, it is made of a solid and hefty metal, which heats and cools relatively fast without feeling thin.

Using the exfoliation attachment

The Shark FacialPro Glow has two functions. I tested the exfoliation function first, which requires you to warm up the skin usin the Depuffi's warming setting. This loosens oils in the skin and opens up pores, meaning you can extract nasties more effectively.

Next, I added some of Shark's own 'Detox' solution to my face. This is an AHA + BHA exfoliating gel in a 0.66 fl oz container — and yes, Shark does recommend you repurchase this when you run out, which, combined with the Hydro Infuse solutio,n will cost $50 a go. Ouch.

Once the solution had worked on the skin for a few minutes, I then went in with the exfoliation attachment. Using a tank of clean water, it works to flood the tip of the chosen nozzle with fresh water and suck out dead skin, oils and other nasties from the skin, depositing it in the dirty water tank.

I have relatively sensitive skin that's very prone to redness, so I was slightly concerned that this would irritate my face. And at first, the FacialPro Glow left visible red lines along my face where it had extracted. This left my cheeks and forehead visibly red and angry-looking, as you can see below.

Despite this, the process didn't hurt at all. The flooding of cool fresh water cushions the face as you move over it, so while literally vacuuming your pores may sound painful, it's actually really satisfying.

Below is a photo of my dirty water tank when I was done with the extraction. As you can see, the water is cloudy and grey, which (according to infographics from Shark) is a sign that I had excess oils in my skin.

What's smart about this is that there's no disputing the effectiveness of the tool — you can literally see all the gunk that's been pulled from your face floating in the dirty water.

Next, I went in with a tank full of the Hydro Infuse BHA Hydrator, which comes in a larger 2.66 fl oz bottle. This is full of juicy, skin-loving hyaluronic acid (one of my favorite hydrating skincare ingredients) which is pushed into pores to soothe and hydrate post-extraction.

This is inspired by a hydrafacial, a popular resurfacing treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts impurities and hydrates. And after following the routine, that's exactly how my skin felt. Although it took 15 minutes or so for my redness to go, I was left with a glowier and healthier-looking complexion and my skin felt fresh throughout the rest of the day.

Using the Depuffi attachment

Shark sells the Depuffi separately from the FacialPro Glow, and even if you don't decide to pick up the full kit, I highly recommend this soothing contrast therapy device.

With three hot and three cold levels to toggle between, the Depuffi attachment uses contrast therapy to promote circulation in the skin through fluctuating hot and cold treatments. This claims to reduce inflammation and improve skintone. But also, it just feels really nice.

I tend to use the Depuffi at its highest cold or hot settings for maximum efficiency. It has a really impressive reach between both hot and cold temperatures, and hits the intended temperatures usually within 15 seconds. I did find that it struggles to stay ice-cold when pressed against my face for a long period, so I instead use it for about 30 seconds at a time and then let it cool down further before resuming.

I've used this thing on tired undereyes after a few too many New Years drinks, or sore neck muscles after an over-zealous trip to the gym. It's a brilliant multi-tasker, and I found it made a huge difference in bringing down the post-extraction redness when used before and after the hydrafacial routine.

Should you buy the Shark FacialPro Glow?

I've been testing the Shark FacialPro Glow for over three months, and I find myself reaching for it constantly. Especially with the cold weather, which often leaves my skin dull and thirsty, it's been a much-needed boost of radiance over the past few weeks.

I wouldn't do this more than once per week due to how in-depth the process is, and if you have particularly sensitive skin, I do worry that even the sensitive nozzles may be too irritating for you. But if your skin can handle physical exfoliation, it will be a welcome step to your routine, and one that makes an instantly visible difference.

While hydrafacials are expensive, so is the Shark FacialPro Glow. And the refills (which I anticipate you'll need to buy every three months or so) aren't cheap, either. But if the product piqued your interest due to its many claims of radiance-boosting and improved hydration, I don't think it'll disappoint you.

The best robot vacuums are a game-changer when it comes to household cleaning, cutting valuable time in half, and offering a hands-on experience. And while Shark is a well-known name for innovative vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances, it's also making a serious mark on the robot vacuum market.

The new Shark PowerDetect Thermacharged robot vacuum is an impressive upgrade to the original flagship, Shark PowerDetect, which holds the top spot in our guide. As its name implies, it now features ThermaCharged technology with a heated mop wash and dry function to offer a more hygienic and spotless clean, while banishing unpleasant odors.

Beyond the new heated mopping, the upgraded PowerDetect includes all the convenient, advanced features like Dirt Detect (to adjust power to mess levels) and 3D imaging technology. But does it truly live up to the hype? Here are my first impressions.

3 things I liked

1. It tackles thresholds and handled my troublesome rugs

Perhaps the PowerDetect’s most notable upgrade is its advanced navigation and 3D Lidar technology to allow it to glide smoothly over thresholds. Since my home has a mixture of hardwood, tiles, and rugs, this proved problematic in the past.

The upgraded Shark was able to transition over the different thresholds from the living room to the kitchen without getting stuck. I was also impressed at how well it moved onto rugs, and even tackled my pesky doormats. As it did so, I could hear it ramp up as it adapted suction power.

While this might seem like a small yet significant upgrade, it made a huge difference to performance and overall cleaning time. What's more, its fast mapping made obstacle avoidance a breeze, and I had no issues with it bumping into chair or table legs that were in the way.

2. I set up the robot vacuum in seconds

Setting up the Shark PowerDetect robot vacuum was refreshingly quick and easy, a welcome change from the typical hassle of unboxing and preparing new robot vacuums.

The entire process took less than a minute, as I simply followed the straightforward guide printed on the box, eliminating the need to decipher the instruction guide. After attaching the mop brushes to the base and inserting the aroma pod (another handy addition), the unit was ready to be placed in the dock for charging.

I particularly liked the clear base LED guide, which provides an immediate visual update on the robot's charging status and battery level. A White LED confirms connection to the power/dock, while Green indicates charging has commenced. The pulsing 'traffic light' sequence (red, amber, and green) offers an easy-to-read indication of the current battery level.

3. You won't even realize it's on

Another impressive feature I liked is the Shark PowerDetect is impressively quiet, emitting only a soft hum while it's working.

This low noise level means it won't interrupt conversations or when you’re binge-watching your favorite show in peace. In fact, I often forgot it was cleaning away in the background while I was reading.

The only time it would get louder is when it detects more dirt, and then auto-adjusts its power to suit the task. However, even at its loudest, the noise is still bearable and not disruptive.

...and one thing I didn't like

Its design could be more stylish

I do love aesthetics and design appeal in my home, and sadly (for me), the Shark's bulky size and lackluster design were disappointing. Granted, it's not the largest model I've seen by far, but given its hefty price tag I'd expect a sleeker, more modern aesthetic. This is especially the case when you have the likes of Roborock's Qrevo Curv that has a sleek, more ergonomic curved appeal for the same premium price point.

However, the Shark PowerDetect ThermaCharged robot vacuum is a strong choice if simplicity, excellent navigation, and quiet operation are your top priorities. Stay tuned for my full review.

Far from a beauty gimmick, when used consistently, this beauty tech can reinvigorate skin to boost collagen production, encourage skin rejuvenation and regulate oil production. Shark CryoGlow review: Price and availability

The Shark CryoGlow costs $349 direct at SharkNinja and at Amazon, and comes in a range of colors. I tested the shade Blue Frost, but it also comes in a lilac color and a stylish sage green.

In the U.K., the CryoGlow is £299 at both Shark and Amazon, and also comes in a range of shades.

You can pair the mask with a charging stand, which would be handy for propping it up between uses. Just don't put it anywhere where it could give you a fright! The stand costs an astounding $89 when bought alone, so I'd only recommend you pick one up if it's part of a bundle deal.

Shark CryoGlow review: Design

I'll get the obvious bit out of the way first: the CryoGlow is, objectively, horrifying to look at. It's not unique to Shark, either. All LED masks look this weird. I actually hid the photos of me testing this mask from my monitor while writing this review, to maintain my reputation as a somewhat-normal and not-terrifying member of the Tom's Guide team. Imagine walking past my desk and seeing the image above. I'd steer clear of me, too.

But, if you're in any way interested in the beauty space, you'll probably see a handful of people wearing LED masks as you scroll your various social media accounts each day. They're not only commonly used, but actually quite trendy.

The mask has a solid exterior and sits securely on the face thanks to an elasticated strap that goes around the back and over the top of the head. While the solid exterior does make it feel more premium, it also makes it a much bulkier product, and a lot trickier to store than the masks that can be laid out flat.

The mask comes with a control that's attached to the headset, and it's really great. The dial allows you to scroll through different settings and toggle different cooling settings for the under-eyes. It also has a countdown timer to show how long is left of your chosen routine, and keeps track of the amount of times you'vve done various routines, allowing you to measure your progress.

The settings are as follows:

Better Aging Treatment: a six-minute treatment which uses red and infrared LEDs aimed to tackle fine lines and firm sagging skin.

Shark CryoGlow review: Performance

I'll start by saying that it's really, really hard to definititely prove that one of these masks has made a difference to your skin. I've been using it consistently for six months, and my skin has never looked healthier, but during that time I've also changed various skincare products, started taking certain supplements and vigilantly drunk lots of water, which are all things that can impact the skin.

So this review, like any other LED mask review you'll read online, is largely anecdotal and based on my experience of using the mask for a prolonged period of time. I'm 28, so not too concerned about the Better Ageing Treatment (although it can't hurt!), but do still struggle with breakouts around my chin and cheeks, so I found myself using the Skin Clearing Treatment on a regular basis.

The most commonly used setting for me is the Skin Sustain Treatment, which basically does a bit of everything. Using blue light to kill bacteria and red and infrared light to boost radiance and elasticity, it covers everything you could really want from an LED mask. Best of all, it's done in just four minutes, meaning I've got literally no excuses to skip a day. Other masks I've tried have had a baseline cycle of 10 minutes, which is a bit more of an investment.

Then there's the Under-Eye Revive Treatment, which I haven't used much in isolation. This is because you can activate the InstaChill pads that sit underneath the eyes when using any of the three settings mentioned above, so I wouldn't use it in isolation.

When using the under-eye pads, the CryoGlow does kick up a fair bit of noise. It's not disruptive, more like a low whirring noise, but when comparing against other (silent) masks, it's something to consider.

These pads are pure magic. They get super cold in seconds, and press tightly against my under-eyes to reduce puffiness and wake me up. It's pure bliss, but I also see a huge and immediate difference when I use them. My under-eyes look flushed due to the boost of circulation, and under-eye bags visibly reduce when I use the mask in the morning.

With that being said, there is a tradeoff with the CryoGlow, because the eye patches come in the place of what would otherwise be targeted LED lights to tackle concerns with undereye elasticity and radiance, which is a common concern with undereyes, especially as you age.

For that reason, I recommend weighing up the idea of cooling eye patches versus the potential benefits of LED lights on your specific under-eye concerns. At least right now, I'm much more in need of a tightening and brightening treatment than wrinkle-fighting LED lights, so I'd still pick the CryoGlow.

I can typically get through a week's worth of treatments before needing to recharge the CryoGlow. To charge, you slot a USB-C into the control panel. I also enjoy that the panel shows the battery level, allowing you to monitor how regularly you need to top up. And if (like me) you'll be keeping it next to your bed (next to a range of chargers), recharging won't be a hassle whatsoever.

As I said, it's hard to 'prove' a mask's effectiveness, but the main thing I notice about my skin after using the CryoGlow is that it has a natural glow and brightness. At this time of year, I'm usually slathering on all sorts of creams to fight off winter dehydration, but my skin has been a lot lower-maintenance as the weather has turned these past few weeks, and I would credit that (at least in part) to the CryoGlow.

How does the Shark CryoGlow compare?

The CryoGlow isn't cheap, but it's far from the most expensive LED mask on the market. Similar hard-shelled options from brands like Therabody, Dr Dennis Gross and MZ Skin will start at $350 and go up to about $500. What none of those currently offer is cooling under-eye pads, which is one of the major selling points of this face mask. If I were shopping around, it's the pads that would push me towards buying CryoGlow.

And LED mask will only be effective if it has a high enough irradiance (power density) to actually trigger cellular change in the skin, so while you can find options for $100ish (and I've not tested those, so I can't speak to their effectiveness), this isn't a product to cheap out on. The CryoGlow is clinically tested & FDA-cleared, so it should be an effective and safe choice.

Should you buy the Shark CryoGlow?

$350 is a lot of cash to part with for any beauty product, but if you're looking for an LED mask that will actually make a visible difference to your skin, I'd recommend the Shark CryoGlow. It's sturdy and well-made, with tailored settings to target a range of skin concerns, and it's also so convenient thanks to its shorter cycles. Whether you struggle with dullness and scarring or fine lines and sagging skin, it's got a treatment specially designed for you.

The main possible downside is in its under-eye capabilities. Yes, the cooling patches are pure heaven, but they do block the LED lights from tackling a major pain point for some users. If you're especially concerned with elasticity around your eyes, you may benefit from a non-cooling mask more.

In the six months since I started using this mask I've noticed a real improvement in my skin's appearance. It's clearer, brighter and a lot more resilient, which would suggest a longer-term improvement to my skin barrier. If skincare is a priority for your 2026 goals, look no further.

Shark has been hot on Dyson's heels for the title of best hair styler for a number of years, but its latest hair styler, the Shark Glam, may have finally taken the Airwrap's crown.

That's not a claim I make lightly. I've been using my Airwrap for a number of years now, but after testing the Glam for a month, I don't think I can go back. I've got a lot of fine, curly hair that's tricky to tame, but the Glam has made it easy for me to diffuse, straighten and even curl it, and it's slashed my styling time significantly.

Shark knows the Glam is good. That's why it's charging an eye-watering $449 / £369 for it. That's just shy of Airwrap pricing. I've spent a lot on various hair stylers over the years though; my wet-to-dry styler alone cost $300, my straighteners another $100, and the Glam can replace all those (plus my hair dryer and diffuser) in one handy carry case. Here's why I think this new styler is a five-star buy.

Shark Glam: Price and availability

The Shark Glam costs $449 / £369, but if you catch it on sale, you could expect to save a hundred bucks or so. It goes without saying that it's an incredibly pricey styler; Shark's most expensive hair tool to date.

As opposed to Dyson's Airwrap, which offers two variations (Straight / Wavy and Curly/Coily), Shark instead includes two base attachments with your unit: Glossi Round Brush, Silki Hot Tool + Air Straightener. Then, you can pick two of the following attachments: 1.25” Auto-Wrap Curlers, 0.95” Coanda Auto-Wrap Curlers, Oval Brush, Styling Concentrator, Curl-Defining Diffuser, Wide-Tooth Comb, FrizzFighter Finishing Tool.

As someone with hair that could probably be described (in Dyson's terms) as Wavy/Curly, I appreciate the ability to tailor your styler to your particular needs.

Shark Glam review: Performance

In the U.K., where I tested the Glam, I was sent the 'Drying System with Diffuser'. This includes the Silki brush tool, Glossi brush tool, Auto-Wrap curlers, concentrator and diffuser.

This actually means I got to try a bonus fifth attachment for this review, but I do think Shark should include the concentrator with every unit, as it makes the tool work as a basic hair dryer.

Diffusing

I'm a big fan of Shark diffusers. I actually bought Shark's first ever hair dryer about five years ago because of this diffuser. It comes with a toggle on top of the attachment which allows you to adapt the length of the prongs inside the diffuser, meaning it can sit closer or further away from your head, depending on how much hair you have.

With diffusers, you're technically meant to turn your heat and power right down and spend an age (ideally with your head upside down for part of it) drying your hair from a range of different angles and differences. To be frank, it's a routine I've not got much time for. Instead, I tend to ramp up both the speed and temperature and blast my hair 75% dry, which is what I did with the Glam.

It has three speed and temperature levels, as well as a cold shot. You need to press down on the cold shot button, so unless you want a sore thumb, you wouldn't be able to cold-dry your curls.

I was pretty happy with how my hair looked after 10 minutes of mid-heat, mid-temperature drying. Thanks to the range of settings, it's suitable for a variety of routines. If you're more patient than me, I think you'll still enjoy it.

Blow-drying with the Glossi brush

My life was forever changed when I bought Shark's original hot brush three years ago. It's since been replaced by the Glossi, which has a combination of ceramic and bristles for smoothing and shaping the hair as you dry it.

I got along very well with the Glossi attachment. It has both wet and dry modes which can be toggled on the handle of the styler. When used on wet hair, it can get incredibly hot. After first blasting my hair with the concentrator attachment, I was then able to finish my very thick head of hair using the Glossi in around 20 minutes, and managed to get some good shaping around my front pieces for a voluminous, blown-out look.

I also used the Glossi on its dry hair mode to reset these front pieces between washes. It mainly uses the ceramic plates to heat and smooth hair back into a sleek, styled finish. I was worried this might snag on tangled, but I didn't experience any hair getting stuck on the styler.

In terms of noise, this isn't a quiet styler. For that, you should check out the Dyson Supersonic r. I hit an ear-ringing 84dB when using the Glossi attachment, so don't expect to keep up with a podcast while styling your hair.

Using the Auto-Wrap Curlers

There are some slight visual differences between the U.S. and U.K. 1.25” Auto-Wrap Curlers, but they appear to be purely aesthetic. The ones I tried had a bubble texture, whereas in the U.S. they're more squared-off. Either way, they're very good, and definitely comparable to the Airwrap's curling barrels.

As someone whose hair naturally curls, I've never been one for using my curling barrels. It gives a totally different look to my natural hair, but I find that my hair is almost too willing to sustain the curl and I'm often left looking like a haunted Victorian doll. But, for the sake of this review, I revisited the haunted aesthetic.

The trick to making curls like this last is to pin them and let them cool down in a curled position. Unfortunately, I don't own bobby pins, so the back of my hair dropped significantly after styling. But below you can see the finished look once I'd used these curling barrels, before brushing out the curls with my fingers.

I was really impressed with just how well they picked up and held my hair, which made styling a lot less fussy. However, one thing I did miss from my Airwrap is the ability to toggle the direction of airflow in the one barrel attachment. Switching between the left and right attachments for each side of my head did get a little annoying when compared to the dial on top of my Airwrap attachments.

Using the Silki attachment

Surprisingly happy with my results, I headed out to see some friends for the evening. We were at a Christmas market, and it rained, so the next day (jumpscare) I woke up to an almighty cloud of frizz where my curls once sat.

On the left in the image below is what my hair looks like when I dry it straight and it then gets wet.

Fortunately, this also proved the ideal opportunity to quickly reset my hair. I had 15 minutes to rectify the situation before heading out to see the new "Wicked" film, and I wanted to channel less Scarecrow, more Glinda.

Using Shark's Silki hot tool as a straightener on dry hair, I was floored by how quickly it powered through my frizz and left me with silky tresses once more. I was even able to curl the front sections by twisting the straightener as I ran it through my hair.

Next wash day, I decided to use the Silki as a wet-to-dry styler. This uses a combination of heat and airflow to dry hair poker-straight, comparable to GHD's Duet Style or Dyson's Airstrait, but in a multi-styler.

As you can see above, it left my hair shiny and mostly straight, although I was able to get a little shape in the front pieces.

I prefer to use a round brush on my hair because I think it gives it more life and movement, but if your hair is less brittle than mine, I think you'll really get along with the Silki attachment. Equally, because it combines high heat and airflow, I think it'd do an excellent job on a range of curl types.

How does it compare?

The Shark Glam is begging to be compared to the Dyson Airwrap which, thankfully, we've also reviewed. The pros of the Dyson? It's quieter (74dB compared to Shark's 84dB), comes with more attachments (albeit it only two varieties, which isn't ideal for something-in-between hair like mine), its curling barrels have multi-directional airflow and just looks... cooler.

I mean, look at it.

The pros of the Shark? You can pick your own attachments (and buy bonus ones direct from Shark), it comes with a handy travel case, it's still expensive, but less expensive, and its Silki and Glossi attachments work on both wet and dry hair.

Dyson included a new straightening attachment with its recently-released Co-anda2x styler. I'm still working on getting that in for review, but it doesn't use hot plates, so may prove less powerful (and create less heat damage) than the Silki.

Should you buy the Shark Glam?

I don't give out five-star reviews very often, but it's hard to find fault with the Shark Glam. It's one of the most capable hair stylers I've ever tried. In fact, it is the most capable. I can basically get rid of every other hair tool in my styling arsenal now, because the Glam outpaces all of them.

At full price, it's probably more than most people would ever intend to spend on a Shark product. What started as a line of Dyson alternatives has now almost caught up with the Airwrap's pricing, forcing you to really take stock of what actually sets these stylers apart if you're choosing between them. Even at full price, I'd pick the Glam over my Airwrap Origin for sheer versatility, but if you happen to catch the Glam on sale, I'd recommend you snap it up.

It comes as no surprise to anyone here at Tom's Guide, but I'm a pretty big fan of Ninja Kitchen appliances. I’ve had the Shark FacialPro Glow + Depuffi for a month so far, and while it was the hydrafacial capabilities that initially stood out to me, it’s the Depuffi attachment that I keep going back to.

The FacialPro Glow + Depuffi ($399 @ Amazon) is designed to replicate a hydrafacial from your own home. To use, you apply an exfoliating solution to your face, then extract dead skin and other nasties from your skin using the suction attachments. And when you’re done, you can use the cooling setting on the metal Depuffi attachment to work moisturizer into your newly clean skin. This step is by far my favorite bit.

Best of all, the Depuffi works solo and can turn hot or cold in seconds, making it ideal for everything from muscle pain to the occasional hangover. Here's why I'm reaching for it daily.

How the Depuffi attachment works

According to Shark’s U.S. website, the standalone Depuffi tool will be launching in 2026, but right now it’s available as part of a bundle with the FacialPro Glow at-home facial system.

In the U.K., it's already available to buy individually at £179.

The Depuffi attachment has three coolness settings and three heated settings. It’s got a solid ergonomic shape that’s inspired by the gua sha, a Chinese massage tool that’s used to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve lymphatic drainage.

On the face, it’s mainly used to reduce puffiness and help sculpt areas such as the cheekbones or jawline.

Feeling a bit worse for wear?

The cooling mode turns the rounded metal surface chilly in around 30 seconds, after which point you can rub it around your jawline, under your eyes, down your neck, or anywhere else where you want to feel refreshed and depuffed.

I recently turned to this setting the morning after I’d had a few too many wines, and it was totally heavenly. My red, tired eyes were immediately soothed, and my puffy face looked instantly refreshed. I love how chilly it can get in a matter of seconds (Shark calls this technology InstaChill), so I can’t see myself using it at anything other than the coolest setting. Nonetheless, it’s a nice option to have.

When the summer months arrive, I could see myself using the cooling attachment if I’m feeling hot and bothered on a warm day, or pressing it against my temples to cool down my pulse.

Ideal for muscle pain

The setting that I keep going back to? That’s the heated Depuffi setting.

I recently hurt my neck after getting a little overzealous at the gym. That’ll teach me to lift weights. The day after, my neck was so sore that even sitting at my computer hurt. Typically, I’d ask my partner for a massage, but instead I broke out some moisturizer and rubbed over the sore muscles with the Depuffi on its maximum heat setting. The effect was immediately soothing. I felt my shoulders drop and my muscles loosen up after just a couple of minutes of use, and I went back to it a couple of times a day for the rest of the week.

Another benefit of the heated setting is that it can prepare the skin for your full beauty routine. I was always taught to wash my face with warm water before using exfoliating products or other skincare, because when your skin is warm, it opens up your pores and makes your skincare products more effective.

Shark just release a game-changing new gadget in its range of beauty products. Hot on the heels of its CryoGlow LED face mask, the new FacialPro Glow is designed to give you that hydrofacial finish, without the $100-per-session cost.

I got a first look at the FacialPro Glow when I visited Shark HQ a few months ago, and I had far too much fun extracting a mix of dead skin and pore gunk from my face, then soothing my newly-cleansed skin with the Depuffi attachment. Now I can finally start using it in my own home, I may never go to the beauty salon again.

But what is the FacialPro Glow, how does it work, and what does it cost? Here's everything you need to know about Shark Beauty's latest release.

Meet the Shark FacialPro Glow

The FacialPro Glow comes with everything you need to get started with both the exfoliation and hydration tool, but also the DePuffi attachment, which uses hot and cold contrast therapy to boost circulation, contour, or improve product absorption.

The DePuffi will be available to buy on its own in future, although we don't yet know when this will be.

The Shark FacialPro Glow + DePuffi is designed to remove impurities from your pores, which will in turn reduce pore size. It uses a dual-pump system to lightly exfoliate and extract from the pores. It feels like a tiny, gentle vacuum on the face, making a light sucking noise when you pull it away. Weird, but satisfying.

According to Shark, the tool works to both exfoliate and also infuse the skin with moisture, and is clinically tested to increase skin hydration by 128%. The brand says that it takes just 10 minutes to "extract, hydrate and depuff at home for a radiant glow."

You'll need to use Shark's Derm Detox and Hydro Infuse formulas alongside the FacialPro Glow. The brand worked with a Korean beauty lab to develop the Derm Detox Exfoliating Gel using glycolic acid and salicylic acid for gentle chemical hydration.

The Hydro Infuse Hydrator utilises hyaluronic acid and a firming peptide complex to flood the skin with moisturizing and calming ingredients.

I'm a bit of a skincare buff, and while I was a bit surprised to hear that Shark was bringing out actual skincare products (a bit like when Dyson brought out a haircare line), I can confirm that these formulas tick all the right boxes. Korean skincare is some of the most sought-after in the world, and the ingredients used are all go-tos for exfoliation or hydration.

Both are included in the box, but you will need to repurchase these formulas for continued use.

The four-step system

How would you use the FacialPro Glow? Shark lays out the four steps as follows:

1. Cleanse: Prep skin with the Derm Detox AHA + BHA Exfoliating Gel, a 3-minute treatment mask to loosen dead skin cells.

2. Extract: Fill the clean tank with cold water and begin the extraction process to exfoliate and cleanse.

3. Hydrate: Empty the clean tank and fill with the Hydro Infuse BHA Hydrator to infuse hydration while continuing extraction.

4. Depuff: Use the Shark DePuffi attachment for instant hot and cold contrast therapy to boost circulation and provide a sculpted look.

The StainForce is like a little compact vacuum cleaner. In fact, it reminds me of a car vacuum. However, instead of cleaning up dust and dirt, it blitzes everyday spills and set-in stains on carpets, upholstery — whether in your home or car.

And it works using powerful suction to clean up dry and wet stains, with an application of the dual formula StainForce spray that boosts its cleaning power.

What’s more, just as you’d expect from a vacuum cleaner, it comes with two cleaning nozzles: a standard nozzle and a crevice tool to tackle hard-to-reach stains. And whichever nozzle you’re using, they are easy to attach and detach.

Then, once you’ve cleaned up your messes, the StainForce is extremely easy to empty and disassemble for cleaning.

I’m already hooked

Although I am still in the early stages of testing the StainForce, I am already super impressed. My first test was removing an old stain on a mattress, which I didn’t think would budge. However, after following the recommended method to remove dried-on stains, I was aghast to find that it really worked! And now, I think it’s probably the best tool I’ve tried all year.

My view is similar to those expressed on SharkNinja’s website, with one reviewer saying, “It’s lightweight, easy to grab when accidents happen, and the cordless design makes cleanup quick without any hassle”. While others say it is ideal to clean up car messes, it saves using a full-size carpet cleaner, and it offers long battery life.

Read the instructions

I’d definitely recommend reading through the instructions before trying the StainForce for the first time, as you'll need to follow a slightly different method depending on whether the stain is wet or dry. However, once you know how to pre-treat the stain and the different angles at which you have to hold the device (depending on whether you are scrubbing or extracting the stain) you should be all set.

I’ll continue to test the StainForce to see how it stands up to coffee, red wine and other common household stains, and will report back with my full review. But for now, I can already see the full potential of this compact gadget, which I think is a keeper.

Unlike other cordless vacuums I’ve used, this Shark Clean & Empty is super lightweight, taking out the hefty strain of carrying it around, especially up and down my stairs. This is mainly thanks to its design being 30% lighter than Shark's other models, which makes it a breeze to lift and handle with one hand.

And while the Shark Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum doesn’t have any smart fancy mod cons of expensive vacuums, it boasts all the handy features that you need. It comes with multi-surface cleaning to detect and adjust to the levels of dirt, a bright LED floor light to illuminate your path, plus, its auto-emptying and charging base, which saves you the hassle of emptying a dirty dust canister after each use.

More importantly, the Shark offers great cleaning results — that’s good enough to rival expensive cordless vacs. Despite its lightweight and rather flimsy appearance, I was impressed by its mighty power to quickly suck up debris and dirt in no time. What’s more, it sucked up stubborn dust wedged in the grouting of my kitchen tiles, and tackled in-grained hair strands on my beige carpets.

If I had to find any fault in the Shark Clean & Empty, it would be the noise levels. Plus, it gets louder the more grime it sucks up. However, this can easily be overlooked, especially when my carpets and hard floors are always left spotless.

Perhaps what’s even better is its price tag. At just $299 on sale, it’s a fraction of some of the premium cordless cleaners (with a self-emptying base) I’ve tested — making it well worth the money. If you don't need any smart/advanced features, and simply want a user-friendly vacuum, I'd recommend the Shark Clean & Empty cordless to get the job done well.

How it works

It's a very impressive move from Shark to give users a reason to utilize the TurboBlade all-year long.

And it's done so by bringing everything users have come to know and love about the TurboBlade, from its sleek and premium design to the intelligent built-in tech, into a 2-in-1 fan and innovative space heater.

Heating up your room in minutes, it's an all-season solution that also looks great with a neutral, slimline design. And for the first time, I feel like I'm able to have a space heater in my home that fits in with the aesthetic.

Even the best space heaters, historically, can be fairly standout units that usually don't offer too much oscillation, if any at all.

The TurboBlade Cool + Heat challenges the market. Instead, it's a slimline, aesthetically-pleasing solution that pivots, twists and oscillates to provide you with 360-degree heating and cooling coverage throughout your room.

First impressions

When I first saw the Shark TurboBlade Cool + Heat, I was immediately impressed that its essentially the TurboBlade, but better.

It looks just like the original model, yet integrates a second incredibly helpful purpose, to keep you warm instead of just cool. The brand has listened to what people need, paid attention to the existing market, and crafted its own solution.

Of course, this innovation comes with a price that is far more expensive than other space heaters on the market. Our favorite value space heater, the Vornado VH200 Heater, is just under $70. And even our top pick, the Lasko FH500, is around $150, depending where you buy.

But, they also don't double up as fans. The only direct competitor, which you probably won't be surprised to hear given the Airwrap i.d. and FlexStyle rivalry, is Dyson.

And while Dyson has the Purifier Hot + Cool HP07, it'll also cost you around $600-$700. Compared to the TurboBlade's $399.99, that price all of a sudden doesn't seem too bad.

When you consider that the Cool + Heat is a fan and space heater in one (and doesn't look traditionally like either), it could be considered a seriously excellent price for what you get.

We'll be getting our hands on it soon for testing, though, and we'll be sure to weigh it up against its competitors, as well as see if it truly does deliver.

According to recent research from Shark, 44% of women worry about others staring at them while sweating at the gym. And honestly? I'm shocked it's not more.

I enjoy working out at my own (gentle) pace, but I turn cherry-red within minutes on the treadmill, and it can take me hours to stop looking flushed and flustered. And while I'm not proud of it, feeling self-conscious has definitely stopped me from pushing myself to the limits at the gym.

So when Shark invited me to join a workout class, ominously called SweatBox, I wasn't so sure it was the event for me. Then, I heard that I'd have my own HydroGo misting fan to cool me down throughout the event, and I knew I had to try it for myself.

Here's how it went.

Let's get physical

I thought I might be quite good at boxing. It's just punching a bag, so how hard could it be? As it happens, very hard.

The first thing I noticed was that the workout involves a lot more than just your arms. You need to be agile and on your toes to keep up with the sets, and to top it off, we were tasked with burpees and push-ups in-between, so this was 45 minutes of pure cardio.

None of us started the workout with our fans on, but after the warmup almost all of us had discarded a glove to set the fan on full blast. The HydroGo can't oscilate, but it does have a flexible base that allows you to point it up at you, or face you directly from a table or desk.

After 30 minutes, my legs felt like jelly, so I broke out the big guns and turned on the HydroGo's misting function.

As I've said, you need to be on your toes in a boxing class, so I was slightly concerned that the mist might make the floor around me a little slippy. And while I can't recommend you do this if you're in a public space where you could trip others up, I didn't experience any slips throughout the rest of my class. I was able to burpee and plank without losing my grip on the floor. In truth, without the fan pointing directly towards my face, I don't know if I'd have managed the last few sets.

And that sheen on my face after the workout? Who's to say whether that's sweat, or the refreshing mist from my personal fan.

When it comes to 2-in-1 cleaning, I’ve always been dubious. I worry that rather than mastering one objective, it becomes average at two (blame the experience I had with a washer/dryer). You can buy 30 replacement cleaning heads for $26 at Amazon, making the cost just under $1 per use.

Shark VacMop review: Design

From the moment I pulled the Shark VacMop out of the box, it looked easy to assemble, and it was.

There are three parts, which are already loosely attached after unboxing. All I had to do was click into place the handle, the body, and the head. If it seems like it’s giving you resistance, flip it around the other way (or maybe that was just me).

The VacMop is fairly slimline and compact, considering it’s also a vacuum. That means I can easily prop it behind a door and out of the way. Plus, it only weighs 1.5kg, so it’s easy to maneuver around my home, without too many strenuous lunges and pivots.

But, while I found it a breeze to zip around with the VacMop, alternating between vacuum and mop, I would say that when it came to more stubborn stains, that’s when the physical work increased. Once the cleaning solution is applied (with a quick squirt from the button on the handle), it’s actually quite sticky, which adds more resistance to movement. But if you’re only using it for a small-to-medium area, this is less of an issue.

Durability-wise, I’m a bit of a bulldozer when it comes to cleaning. I like to lock in and get it done, and I’ll admit, sometimes that leads to me hitting into the sides a little too aggressively or getting caught up on corners.

I put the VacMop to the test with my rigorous cleaning regime and it actually held up really well. Judging by how slimline it is, I would’ve thought it might suffer a little from my cleaning sessions (which I’ll admit are usually timed), but the head rotated with ease, and it slid around the corners with a grace that I wish I myself could have.

But the best thing (and worst thing… we’ll come to this later) about the VacMop is the no-touch disposable pads. It’s hard to imagine that you can mop up and vacuum up crumbs, hair, and dirt with the same flat pad. But, it was incredibly easy to click into place and even easier to press the button to release it all into the bin afterwards. A design aspect I cannot fault.

Shark VacMop review: Performance

The Shark VacMop is made for hard floor cleaning. So, I tested it over two weeks in my kitchen, hallway, and bathroom, and I was pleasantly surprised. Having previously used a quick mop with removable and washable pads, I found it pushed crumbs around in front of it, or made me drag the vacuum around first. So, having the ability to effectively vacuum up the dirt and debris before running the mop over is a genius move by Shark.

There are two buttons on the handle: one for releasing cleaning solution and one for vacuuming, and I’ll admit I got a bit confused about which was which. Once I got going, though, I weaved between them with ease. I was a little hesitant about the fact that a disposable pad was somehow going to act as a container for all the crumbs, but I found that they didn’t escape and were easily removed as part of the pad afterwards.

I was also impressed at the VacMop’s power. I tried it on a range of debris around my home, from dust to crumbs, and I was pleased with how it suctioned them up. I would say here, though, that if you have larger debris, you shouldn’t expect the VacMop to do it all. It’s not going to pick up the leaves your kid dragged in on the bottom of their shoe – I tried.

For testing, I wanted to make sure I had some stubborn stains to pit the VacMop against. I tried out a stubborn yogurt stain and coffee stain to see how it fared. I’m happy to report, it did the job. It took me a couple of sprays of the cleaning solution and some fairly aggressive mopping to tackle the yogurt, but it was one of the hardier stains in my home, and now it’s gone. For quicker stains and any spillages, though, it tackles them quickly.

At times, I felt like I was putting in a lot of the work with the mopping, but I wouldn’t say this experience is any different to other mops I’ve used. After all, even when I vacuum, my smartwatch thinks I’m doing a HIIT workout. What the VacMop promises to do is clean your hard floors, and it does exactly that (with a little oomph).

Battery-wise, I charged up the VacMop before my first use and while it did last a few hours of testing, it did require a charge before I was done, and that took a while. If you’re planning on tackling a larger home or space, this may not do the trick.

And while the disposable pads are incredibly efficient and absorbent, they left enough cleaning solution on the floor to cover quite a wide area before I needed to spray anymore. Which, I’d love to add, also smells really nice.

What I will say about the disposable pads though, is that whilst I love them for their ease-of-use and how it only took a press of a button to remove them, I do worry about how environmentally-friendly they are.

I’ll grumble about washing up my mop heads and removable pads, but ultimately, I’d rather run them through the washer than throw them away. Not just for the environment, but for the cost, which I’ll get into below.

Shark VacMop review: Value for money

When it comes to my hard floors, I’ve always opted to use my Shark corded vacuum to tackle crumbs, dust, hair, and more. But, it is a lot of faff to plug it in and run around with the cord lassoing my kids’ feet. I’ve found since testing out the VacMop, this is now what I go-to for quick and easy cleanups, but is it worth the price?

The fact that it’s a vacuum and mop is the biggest selling point, and it absolutely deserves praise for how well it accomplishes both for the price. The problem is, while I might be inclined to spend £99.99, I wouldn’t want to pay out for the consumables.

It’s £14.99/$15.99 for 16 pads on the Shark website, which is $1 a clean. While that doesn’t sound like a lot, I wouldn’t leave the dirty pad on there after every spillage and stain because of the grime it holds onto. So, with every quick clean, I’m not overly happy with spending $1.

The cleaning solution for a bottle is a similar price, but I haven’t run out of a full container yet. In fact, over two weeks of quick use and a full kitchen rub down, I’ve only used around a quarter of the fluid container.

Shark VacMop review: Verdict

The VacMop is a great solution for quick cleans when you want to tackle both vacuuming and mopping in one go – and it’s a real timesaver. But, when it comes down to expense and sustainability, you’ll need to weigh up whether it’s worth the investment.

While I don’t love the additional cost of the VacMop pads and cleaning solution, I’m not using it to clean my whole house, so I’m hopeful a little expense will cover a lot of small cleans. And the investment is worth it considering those pads lock away debris, rather than push it around, and scrub the floor at the same time.

I also like how lightweight it is, given there’s a whole vacuum built-in, and the cordless cleaning power is incredibly convenient. I will say that pushing it around my home became a bit of a workout, especially when scrubbing in the cleaning solution, but ultimately it’s not a robot vacuum, so I shouldn’t expect it to do all the hard work for me.

If you’re looking for a dual-purpose cleaner that’ll take on the work of both your vacuum and mop, it’s a great piece of kit. I really enjoyed using it and I’d be surprised if you couldn’t find a place for it in your home, too.

I’ve never been a big fan of drying my hair. In fact, I’ve actively avoided it. My hair is long, thick, and stubborn — the kind that turns into a frizzy mess if you so much as look at it the wrong way.

So when the Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer landed on my radar, I was cautiously optimistic. It promised power without the arm ache, faster drying without the damage, and a bunch of attachments to make styling feel less like a chore and more like... an actual possibility.

It’s not often I get excited about a hair dryer — and yet, here we are. The SpeedStyle is Shark’s answer to high-end styling tools, and while it doesn’t come with AI or Bluetooth, it does come with smart attachments that work shockingly well, especially for the price.

There’s the RapidGloss finisher for flyaways, a quick smooth brush, diffuser, turbo concentrator, and an express touch-up brush for your bangs. And sure, it’s not silent. But when something cuts my drying time in half and doesn’t leave my hair feeling like straw afterwards, I can live with a little extra noise.

So, is the Shark SpeedStyle worth considering over the other hyped-up tools on the market? For me, a former air-dry devotee who’s voluntarily blow drying her hair, the answer’s a very enthusiastic yes.

There's also the Shark SpeedStyle Pro 5-in-1 High-Velocity Hair Dryer, which offers a black and copper design. This model delivers high-velocity airflow reaching up to 100 mph.

It incorporates a Scalp Shield Mode to protect new hair growth from extreme heat and features IQ Speed Styling & Drying Suite, which automatically adjusts settings for each accessory to ensure optimal temperature and airflow.

You can find this model on Shark for £219 in the U.K. There doesn't seem to be any retailers selling the dryer with all 5 accessories in the U.S. but you can build your own package on the Shark website for just $179 by choosing the 3 styling heads you want.

Shark also has two packages available for different hair types. There's one for straight and wavy hair, which comes with the RapidGloss Finisher, QuickSmooth Brush, and Turbo Concentrator ($159 / £149).

The other is for curly and coily hair, which includes the RapidGloss Finisher, QuickSmooth Brush, and DefrizzFast Diffuser ($158 / £149).

Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any Shark-brand accessories for short hair, so keep in mind that the styling heads may be difficult to use if you have shorter locks.

The Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer isn’t the most expensive hair styling tool on the market but I understand that the price tag is still hefty.

If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer is a popular choice at just $32 / £34, offering great styling power at a fraction of the price, though it lacks the multiple attachments that the SpeedStyle provides.

Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer review: Design

The design of the Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer is sleek and modern. With its lightweight build, it’s easy to maneuver, even during extended styling sessions.

Even the various attachments have been thoughtfully designed for easier styling and storage. However, there are a couple of issues that I had with the dryer and attachments, which I’ll get into below.

Styling attachments

When I first tried the Shark SpeedStyle and its attachments, I was honestly impressed by how well-thought-out the styling heads are. Each one serves its own purpose, and it feels like they really considered every need for different hair types and styles.

The Turbo Concentrator quickly became my go-to for sleek, straight hair. The focused airflow does an excellent job of smoothing things out and leaving me with a frizz-free finish. Then, there’s the QuickSmooth Brush, which I loved for adding volume to my dull straight hair — it gave me that fuller, polished look without much effort.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the RapidGloss Finisher, which tamed my flyaways and left my hair with a shiny, glossy finish. After every use I felt like I had just walked out of the hair salon.

For those “I need to fix this right now” moments, the Express TouchUp Brush has been such a time-saver, especially for smoothing my bangs and ends. I’m often on the go, so that quick fix made all the difference. This styling is even more effective when I put my bangs in a roller afterwards.

Since I don’t have curly hair, I didn’t need to use the diffuser. However, my colleague Kaycee Hill tested the diffuser, and commented on how easy it was to use to maintain her curls and keep her hair feeling fresh:

"The Shark hair dryer and its amazing diffuser transformed my 3B hair into perfectly defined curls that lasted for two days, banishing frizz and enhancing my natural texture."

What I really appreciate is how intuitive the attachments are. Unlike other dryers I’ve used in the past, the SpeedStyle is so easy to navigate, and every piece has a clear purpose.

Shark really nailed the convenience factor, and honestly, that makes styling a whole lot easier. I’ll dive deeper into how all these attachments performed in the ‘Performance’ section, but for now, it’s safe to say I’m hooked.

Handling

One thing I really love about the Shark SpeedStyle dryer is how easy it is to handle. It's super lightweight, so I didn’t get the dreaded arm ache halfway through styling like I do with heavier dryers.

That alone makes a big difference, especially when you're spending a good chunk of time smoothing and curling.

Luckily, I have a power strip under my desk where I can plug in multiple things, so I was able to set up my mirror and do my hair at my desk without any trouble. But that’s not always the case for everyone.

If you don’t have a setup like that, the relatively short 8-foot cord could be a bit annoying, since you really do need to be near a plug socket. It’s not a dealbreaker, but a slightly longer cord would definitely make the SpeedStyle even more convenient to use.

Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer review: Performance

Now I’ll walk you through how each attachment performed here, along with photos of my results. For context, my hair type is 1B (naturally straight with a slight wave) and it’s highlighted and color-treated, which means it’s a little more prone to dryness.

Dryer

Drying my hair with the Shark SpeedStyle was a dream. My long, thick hair normally takes at least 15 minutes to dry with a regular dryer, but with the SpeedStyle, it was fully dry in just 5 minutes using the highest setting. Heaven.

I loved being able to tweak the airflow and heat settings depending on how wet my hair was — but for full dryness, I cranked both to high. It’s also super gentle: the dryer constantly measures and regulates temperatures 1,000 times per second, never going above 110°C (230 °F), so it doesn’t hit the damaging 150°C (302°F) mark like some dryers.

In terms of noise, the dryer is more of a smooth, consistent air-whistle instead of a rough, droning sound. It's around 85 dB on the highest power/heat setting, so might be a little louder than dryers like the Dyson Supersonic Nural, but it won't disturb the rest of your house or give you ear ache.

Considering my hair was dry within a matter of minutes, I didn't even need to use the dryer for long.

Turbo Concentrator

The Shark Turbo Concentrator head was pretty much perfect for my straight hair. Since I have naturally straight hair anyway, it helped me achieve a super sleek finish without any flyaways.

I tend to get some flyaways if I let my hair air dry, but this attachment concentrated the airflow so precisely that it smoothed everything down. The turbo setting also made my drying time faster, so I didn’t have to spend ages fighting with flyaways.

It’s a perfect match for my hair type and one that I use often when reaching for this product.

RapidGloss Finisher

The RapidGloss Finisher ended up being one of my favorite attachments. After drying and styling, I ran it over the top layer of my hair and was genuinely impressed by how well it smoothed everything down.

I usually get pesky flyaways around my part and hairline, but this used a soft, controlled stream of Coanda airflow to tame them without flattening my volume. It added a nice glossy sheen too, which made my hair look way more polished than usual.

QuickSmooth Brush

The QuickSmooth Brush surprised me with how much I ended up reaching for it. It’s meant for straight styles with volume, and since my hair is already straight, I wasn’t sure how much I’d need it — but it actually gave me that soft, bouncy, blowout look I usually can’t be bothered to attempt.

It dried and styled at the same time, so I could skip using a separate round brush and dryer. It added just the right amount of lift at the roots and smoothed the mid-lengths and ends without making my hair look flat.

Express Touchup Brush

The Express TouchUp Brush ended up being the attachment I used the most especially for shaping my bangs. It’s small, lightweight, and really easy to rotate, which made it perfect for flicking the ends of my fringe under just the way I like it.

I found it worked best when I blasted my bangs with the cool shot option on the dryer to help set the shape after using the attachment.

For extra volume and hold, I’d finish by popping my bangs into a velcro roller right after styling them and letting them cool completely before removing it. I also sprayed it with some hairspray for lasting power.

That combination gave me smooth, bouncy bangs that actually held their shape all day. It’s become part of my go-to routine now, and I love that I can do a little refresh without having to fully rewash or blow dry all of my hair.

DefrizzFast Diffuser

I didn’t use the DefrizzFast Diffuser myself since it’s not designed for my hair type, but my colleague Kaycee — who has beautiful, naturally curly hair (mixture of 3A and B) — was more than happy to give it a go.

She loved how easy it was to attach and how lightweight the dryer still felt, even with the diffuser in place. The diffuser works by distributing air evenly and gently through its extendable prongs, which helps to dry curls without disrupting their shape or causing frizz.

According to Kaycee, it helped her achieve soft, bouncy curls with great shape and volume, without flattening or puffing anything out. It didn’t take her long to dry her hair either, and the ionic airflow seemed to help lock in the shine. It’s safe to say she was seriously impressed (and so am I, just looking at the photo).

Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer review: Storage & maintenance

The Shark SpeedStyle comes with a surprisingly roomy and thoughtfully designed storage bag that makes organizing everything way less of a hassle. It’s made from soft yet durable neoprene and has enough space to fit the SpeedStyle unit along with all six attachments — or even the FlexStyle and its eight, if you own both.

I found it super handy for keeping everything in one place and avoiding the usual drawer chaos. Inside, it’s lined with a soft peach-skin fabric that helps prevent scratches, and the bag folds down with snap buttons if you want to save space or carry it by the makeshift handle.

There aren’t any cleaning tools included, which would’ve been a nice touch, but there is a clear and helpful guide in the manual on how to clean the unit — especially the filter at the back, which is the main maintenance task. Shark recommends using a toothbrush to gently clean it, and it’s easy enough to incorporate into your routine.

Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer review: Verdict

I’m someone who thrives on routine since I find comfort in doing things the same way every day, so the fact that the Shark SpeedStyle 5-in-1 Hair Dryer has effortlessly become part of my daily lineup says a lot.

I used to dread drying my long, thick hair because it took forever and left me feeling overheated and tired before I even started styling. But now, I actually look forward to it.

This dryer is fast, lightweight, and incredibly easy to use, and the styling attachments each serve a real purpose (especially the Express TouchUp Brush, which I basically live for).

That said, it’s not without its faults. The airflow is definitely on the louder side — not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you’re noise-sensitive. And while the attachments work beautifully on longer hair, I can see them being a bit trickier to use on short styles.

Still, it’s earned a permanent spot on my vanity.

The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo is kicking up a storm this summer. It feels almost cruel to write a glowing review while stock is low and everyone wants one, but in case you're wondering, the rumors are true.

This is a brilliant fan that manages to deliver powerful cooling with a small frame. And the misting function? Oh boy, it has me feeling fresh and gently spritzed, not drenched, like I did with its larger counterpart the FlexBreeze Pro.

Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo: First impressions

The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo arrives with some charge, which I appreciated because it arrived on a sweltering hot day. Its charger is pretty bulky, but you can also buy a car charging cord on the Shark website.

For $149 / £119, this isn't a cheap option. And there are plenty of cheap fans on the likes of Amazon, so it's not a purchase to make lightly. Luckily, it's been on sale for around $100 / £100 for the past few weeks.

I tested although the Dark Gray colorway, but I'd have loved to try the Honeydew or Lilac shades. I love that Shark sells this fan in a range of bright hues, but it's sold out in a lot of the brand's more fun colors right now.

Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo: Design

The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo weighs 5lbs, and while it's not the most compact, I do think it's pretty portable. If you're packing the car for a picnic, there's no reason not to throw it in the trunk. But if you're heading on a hike, it might be a bit too large for your rucksack!

There are some removable stickers on the fan which walk you through the settings. I left these on while I figured the fan out, but its controls are pretty straightforward. There's a power button, a misting button (which you also use to toggle between the constant and intermittent setting) and a fan speed button, which you press to increase the fan speed incrementally from one to five, and then between the two natural breeze settings.

The natural breeze mode undulates to mimic a more authentic experience, which is a nice change from those fans that pelt you with a rush of air straight to the face, which can dry out your eyes and make your throat feel funny.

You can also fill up the water tank on the back of the machine with a flap that lifts and can be positioned beneath a faucet.

Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo: Performance

The water capacity is pretty small. I found that it ran out after around an 45 minutes of constant misting.

As for the battery life? I really can't complain in that department. I used this fan on setting 1 for an entire work day, and by the time I was done, the battery level indicator had only changed from orange to yellow, indicating a battery life of around 60%. So that's 9+ hours of contant use on a single charge, and it could probably deliver at least another 9.

My partner's parents visited when I was testing this fan, and they used it overnight to help cool our sweltering guest room. They had it on high speed, and reported that it only ran out at around 5am, meaning it gave them 6 hours of contant high-speed cooling.

Noise level

Another impressive feature is how quiet this fan is.

I measured the noise produced at a number of levels using the SoundMeter app on my phone. They read:

So the noise level ramps up significantly when you need some serious cooling, but the sound quality is not annoying in the slightest. It's a low whirring without any whiny qualities.

Misting

The misting feature barely makes a sound. It didn't register on my SoundMeter app whatsoever. If I could describe it, I'd say it's like a higher-pitched fizzing noise.

After my run-in with drenching my in-laws with the Shark FlexBreeze Pro, I had to choose a less risky test subject with the HydroGo: Me. And fortunately, I had a much nicer experience.

As you can see, the mist with this fan is super fine. It's got a decent projection, too. I could leave it on my coffee table while sitting on the couch and still get a light spritzing.

It doesn't leave me feeling wet, and my clothes didn't get damp either. I felt pretty confident using it indoors, but I wouldn't leave it on top of my vintage furniture just in case it caused any water damage.

Obviously, there's no oscillation with this fan, but its head does lift and lower manually to ensure you're getting the right angle. Oscillation with a portable tabletop fan would be a lot to ask, but seeing as I find this fan hard to fault, it is one feature that I think could level it up. For now, you'll need to get one for you and one for a friend, because you can't share.

Should you buy the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo?

Is it worth the hype? Yes. Is it worth the price. Also yes. You can find tabletop fans online for a lot less, but I don't know if you'll find one that offers the versatility, battery power, low-noise, and divine misting capabilities of the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo.

I do think that an oscillation feature would take this fan to another level, and it wouldn've been nice if the water tank had a little more capacity, but refilling is super easy if you bring a water bottle to the picnic.

So if you've been weighing up your purchase, take it from me: the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo is the sidekick you need to survive the summer.

Shark's FlexBreeze lineup fan is fast becoming the cooling fan of the summer, and don't get me wrong, I'm full on board the hype train.

I tested the pricier Pro Mist model, but if you're thinking the misting features will be the same across Shark's FlexBreeze Pro Mist and FlexBreeze HydroGo models, I'm here to save you from making the same mistake I did.

This thing is super quiet, incredibly versatile, and its portability is unmatched. It's also a decent price. Down from $249 to $199 at SharkClean.com, and reduced by £30 for U.K.-based readers (like me), I don't regret the investment.

I was so smitten with my new gadget that I broke it out this past weekend at a family BBQ to impress my parents-in-law. But then they asked about the misting feature, and that's where my evening took a turn.

I'd tested the misting feature on the Pro Mist before, but from a distance, and very briefly. From my limited first impressions, I was a fan (pun intended). But if, like me, you want to stay in your in-laws' good books, maybe take it for a test run before you break it out at a family function.

It kept me cool, but left me drenched

I have the full-sized FlexBreeze Pro Mist fan, which comes with a base that allows it to act as a pedestal fan. You can also lift it out of the base and fold out its four legs to take it on the go, or use it as a desk fan.

The water tank is super easy to attach. You simply fill the tank, twist the connecting tube to the back of your fan, and press the water button.

Shark gives you two levels of intensity to choose from (spoiler alert, they're both very intense) and there's also an intermittent misting function which will splutter to life every few seconds.

I will confess, the first few seconds were bliss. A cool spritz of water wafted around the table, followed by a strong jet of air which felt very refreshing.

But on the second spin of the fan's rotating setting, the "ooh's" and "aah's" turned to perturbed grumbles, followed by laughter. That's right. The fan totally drenched my in-laws.

I can only thank some divine entity that I didn't opt for my white shirt last night, but my linen dress quickly became sodden with mist. My straightened hair sprang up into a cloud of frizz, and our rosé wine was quickly diluted into more of a spritz.

Now, is this faux pas entirely my own fault? Yes, I believe it is. We were all sat around the table, which meant we were particularly close to the fan and its strong jet of water. If I wasn't a few glasses of rosé deep, I may have brought the pedestal out for a bit more distance.

But if you're imagining that the SharkPro Mist emits super-fine droplets of mist that will leave you lightly refreshed, beware. I wouldn't recommend anyone to sit within 10 feet of this thing, or everything from your phone to your glasses will become coated by a very not-fine layer of water.

A slippery situation

And I'm not alone. My colleague Jane McGuire was so tempted by the Shark Pro Mist that she bought it for herself, and after trying the misting function, she's sending it straight back.

"I bought the fan as I'd seen it all over Instagram," she told me, "and thought the misting feature would help keep my baby's room cool in the heatwave."

While Shark advises that you don't use this fan indoors, I'm among the people who immediately broke this rule when the fan arrived at their front door. After all, who doesn't want to be spritzed with cold water while sitting in front of the TV?

"When it arrived, I hadn't appreciated just how tiny it was, but thought it would be handy to move it around the house. I soon discovered the misting was absolutely not appropriate for keeping a baby or a dog cool. It was pretty aggressive and left me feeling soggy," Jane said.

The most exercise I get on a scorching summer day is the walk between my fridge, my coffee machine, and my office, but as our Fitness Editor, Jane is used to working up a sweat no matter the weather.

"Even when working out, I probably wouldn't want my yoga mat getting so wet", she said.

That does sound like a bit of a slippery situation.

Dyson is well known for being, well, Dyson. And right now you can save $100 on one of the brand's impressive tower fan. But while it may be tempting to stay cool in the heat and make a big saving (because we all know Dyson's pricing isn't cheap), we'd urge you to hold off for just a second.

It may sound like a great deal. Right now, the Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 has been slashed to $399 at Amazon, making for a grand 20% discount. But there’s another cooling fan we recommend — although it’s produced by Dyson’s biggest rival. Eek!

Consider the competition before you buy

While we love the look of Dyson’s Purifier Cool PC1 — it’s simply sleek, streamlined and positively futuristic — we absolutely loved one of its main competitors.

The Shark TurboBlade Fan gained an impressive 4.5-star rating in our recent review, and it's $100 less than the Dyson cooler even with that reduction applied. In fact, you can pick it up the Shark TurboBlade Fan for just $299 at Amazon.

Shark’s TurboBlade Fan may not have quite the same eye candy appeal — it reminds me slightly of an old-fashioned projector screen — but my colleague Millie Fender, Managing Editor, Homes, was sufficiently impressed she gave it an Editor’s Choice award.

She wrote, “I’ve never tried a fan like the Shark TurboBlade Fan, but now I have, I don’t think I could go back.”

Why you should buy the Shark TurboBlade Fan

I’m intrigued to know why Millie rated it so highly. In her verdict she writes, “This flexible fan offers the best of both worlds: concentrated high-powered cooling, and laid-back whole-room settings for a natural-feeling breeze.”

But the ultimate benefit is in the fan's extra-wide construction, which she says “makes it ideal for end-of-bed cooling to help couples survive those sticky summer nights.”

It sounds like Shark has put an end to night time arguments as couples no longer need to decide whose turn it is to have the cooling fan by their side. So how does it work?

Unlike some fans that rotate and oscillate, giving a mixed level of cool air depending on where they are pointing, the Shark has two adjustable pivoting side arms, which allow you to shoot two jets of cool air directly out of the FlexBlade simultaneously, so both you and your partner stay cool at the same time.

There are also plenty of other benefits. The fan was easy to assemble, just taking one minute to put it together, and it can also be disassembled for easy storage. Millie also noticed how quietly it runs, emitting a low, consistent noise that won’t disturb your dreamtime.

There’s also a Dust Defence feature, and while it won’t replace one of the best air purifiers, it will capture particles in the air to prevent dust and allergens from being cast around your home.

However, watch this space, because although we recommend the Shark TurboBlade Fan as an excellent cooling fan, we haven't yet reviewed the Dyson Purifier Cool PC1. We'd be intrigued to see what the PC1 offers for that extra $200 (or, $100 with the discount) price point. You know where to find us, Dyson.

Shark's new HydroGo fan may have launched back in March (and here's why I couldn't wait to try it), but, while I was immediately impressed by its design, portability and misting technology, the weather hadn't quite heated up yet and so I was in no rush to buy it.

And then it got really hot. Suddenly, along with everyone else, I was desperately searching in my loft for a fan. And then desperately searching on the internet when it turned out mine had mysteriously disappeared.

Then, I remembered the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo. But, it appears, so did everybody else.

I've seen this fan cooling down creators across social media since its release and I should've known then that I needed to act fast to get my hands on one.

At time of writing, in the U.S., the HydroGo has sold out on Amazon in four of its 11 colors and is selling out fast in the rest. And in the U.K., it's completely sold out!

Shark has got us all in its wonderfully cool jaw. And to make it even more of an appealing deal, it's also been on sale. The fan is currently sitting at just $119.99/£99.99 on Amazon, marking a 20% discount. And while you can't put a price on a good night's sleep, $119 is pretty nice.

What we know about the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo

The Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo is focused on cooling you, wherever you go. It boasts a reach of up to 70ft at its highest speed packed into a compact design that can easily be transported by a smart carry handle.

Weighing it at only 5lbs, it's also incredibly lightweight. So, if you want to use it indoors or outdoors, you don't need a whole lot of space to do so.

While Shark says it can last up to 12 hours on a single charge, it does depend on which of the five fan speeds you're using and whether you're taking advantage of the misting technology.

And while it already has an eye-catching, sleek design, it's also available in a wide range of different colors including Quartz Pink, Honeydrew Green and Lavender. Or, if you're a fan of a more neutral look, there's Grey, Dove and Charcoal.

A pop of color seems to be the allure of the summer though with the more colorful picks selling out fast. Or, if you're in the UK, you can't get your hands on a single one.

When Shark launched the HydroGo, it also dropped the FlexBreeze ProMist, too.

And, while it costs a little more (currently on sale for $199), our TG Homes Editor, Millie Fender, tried it out and said: "It cools you off like a cucumber in a lux grocery store".

What users say

When a product like the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo goes viral, you can't always be sure if it's worth the hype. But, when you take a look at the reviews, it becomes pretty obvious.

One user called the HydroGo her "new best friend" with another user saying: "Super awesome fan

Though, as is the case with any product, there are some reviews where users called it "extremely overpriced" and worried that it didn't use USB-C for charging, but instead used a barrel connector.

Finally, one user from Florida said: "Take it anywhere, anytime! Not large or bulky and it is light weight. I'm ordering two more!!"

So, it appears there's not enough fans to go around. If you see a HydroGo available, it may well be worth picking one up (or three).

Some couples have mixed sleeping preferences, with one shivering all through the night while the other casts off the covers because they're overheating. My partner and I are definitely not one of those couples.

We're both hot sleepers who need a cooling fan firmly planted at the end of the bed all through the summer months. But the main problem with this approach? Our fan oscilates between us, only cooling one of us directly at a time. Enter Shark's new TurboBlade fan.

The concept behind this new gadget is both genius and obvious. By adding fully adjustable pivoting side arms, Shark allows you to shoot two jets of cool air directly out of your FlexBlade simultaneously, cooling you and your companion at the same time.

I've spent a warm week testing the Shark TurboBlade at home, and here are my thoughts.

Setting up the Shark TurboBlade could not have been easier. There are three parts that need to be slotted together, labelled A, B, and C, and total assembly time took me about one minute total.

I really like that you can take this fan apart for storage, too. As someone who only uses a cooling fan for, at most, half of the year, it's nice to know that I'm not sacrificing too much storage space for the other 6 months.

The base of the Shark TurboBlade is quite chunky, but the fan isn't too heavy to be moved easily between rooms, which is what I did when testing.

Shark TurboBlade: Design

One of the best features of the Shark TurboBlade is that its two arms can be adjusted independently to blow air in different directions. This is easy to do, but you do need to do it manually. There's no option to change the height or direction of airflow from an app or the remote control.

If you're trying to get the perfect setup, this could mean a bit of up-and-down adjusting while you try and get the airflow to hit just right. But I'm the sort of person who hates unnecessary apps or products that don't offer on-board controls, so I don't mind that.

Perhaps a more significant gripe is that you need to press the top right button, which looks like a star, to toggle between Shark's three bespoke settings: Sleep, Breeze and Boost. But there's nothing onboard to let you know which one you're using.

It's easy to know when Boost is running because the noise level is noticeably higher, but I've got Sleep and Breeze mixed up a couple of times in the last week.

The arms don't have to be entirely upright or sideways. Shark told me that some people adjust them so they follow the sloping lines of an Eames chair, so whatever your user case might be, the Shark TurboBlade probably has you covered.

As for oscillating, this fan offers 180° rotation and you can choose how wide-reaching you want your airflow to be using a button on the remote control. If you want the fan to sit higher or lower though, you'll need to lift it or lower it manually.

The Shark TurboBlade has also got a Dust Defense feature, which (while not a substitute for one of the best air purifiers) captures particles in the air to prevent the fan from blasting dust and allergens around your home. The filter is easy to wipe clean, so you shouldn't need to replace it over time.

Shark TurboBlade: Performance

This bladeless fan isn't noiseless, but it creates a low, consistent level of noise that's not disruptive to sleep or even watching TV. You might have to turn the volume up, but the TurboBlade won't prove to be a distraction.

But when measuring noise level, I also think the picture is incomplete without a comment on the noise quality, which is ultimately can make fans annoying, distracting, or impossible to sleep through.

At top speed (level 10), you'd have to raise your voice if you were having a conversation near the fan. It's the same with Boost mode. The level is similar to my Shark hair dryer.

I can still listen to a podcast on my phone if I turn it up while using it, but you could definitely hear it from the next room. The noise level is a mid-pitched whirring that's definitely noticeable, but ultimately so powerful that you will rarely, if ever, need it in close proximity.

When using top speed or Boost mode, I could feel the fan's cooling air at around 15ft away. And I couldn't test any further, because my living room isn't big enough!

In the middle, there's level 5, which is about right as a background noise level at 56dB. I'd compare it to the sound made by most blade-style fans, which I'm used to sleeping through. I've been opting for Breeze mode throughout the day, which is designed to replicate a more natural-feeling breeze. It's very fresh and fades into background noise with ease, but hits 54dB when you're up close.

At its quietest, you could definitely forget this fan is running, so it's lucky that it comes with a timer setting.

I'd formerly been using my Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde as a fan-slash-air purifier during the night, and the Shark TurboBlade can hit a similar level of discrete whirring at 46-50dB.

And as I mentioned earlier, it's lovely to not have an oscillating fan on a hot night, where I anticipate each blast of air as the fan twists to cool both me and my partner. With the dual arms, cooling is consistent, and therefore feels a lot more effective when running at a lower level.

It's worth adding that the level of cooling you get with Sleep mode really is adequate for hot nights. Although I've yet to test it during one of London's stifling heatwaves., where temperatures can hit 104°F, I'm confident it would do the job. Although I'm not hoping for any extreme weather, I'll keep this review updated if we do get any!

Should you buy the Shark TurboBlade?

I've been sleeping a lot cooler since I started testing the Shark TurboBlade, and I'm not quite so nervous about any upcoming heatwaves knowing I've got a quiet, powerful, and wide-reaching fan that will keep both me and my partner from overheating.

I've also made good use of the Shark TurboBlade in my living room. It's a big space, and the fan did an excellent job of creating a comfortable breeze without too much disruption when I've had friends over on hot days.

At $299 / £249, this isn't the sort of purchase you should make without some evaluation. After all, there are many cheaper options on the market, and cooling fans do ultimately have just one job.

But if you're wondering how well the TurboBlade gets the job done, the answer is: Very.

If you have mainly hard floors to contend with, wet and dry cleaners can come in handy.

Not only do they have the power of the best vacuum cleaners to quickly suck up debris while washing, but can make light work of back-breaking mopping.

Plus, having to keep emptying and refilling a bucket always seemed like such a waste of water. Wet and dry vacuums separate the dirty and clean water tanks, offering a more sustainable, user-friendly experience.

I’ve spent countless hours testing wet and dry vacuum cleaners, and my favorite has to be the Shark HydroVac MessMaster corded hard floor cleaner. Not only can it get rid of dirt, stains and dust in two swipes, but it's easy to use and maintain.

However, while my floor has never been cleaner, these are a few caveats that I hadn't considered before buying. Here are the top three things I wish I'd known.

1. It doesn't clean carpets (just rugs)

Although these may have a similar function, the Shark HydroVac isn't designed to clean carpets like a dedicated cleaner can. So always choose for your floor types and needs.

And while I do mainly have hard flooring, it would have been nice to have given my beige carpeted stairs a deep clean (and revive the color again!). In fact, the Shark HydroVac can only 'refresh' area rugs, which is essentially a light clean without soaking it.

For those with mainly carpets, it's probably best to invest in a carpet cleaner specifically made for carpeted surfaces. What's more, these machines can also remove stubborn stains and odors, which is ideal if you have pets or children.

2. Bulky head can't tackle corners properly

Typically, wet and dry vacuums are equipped with a bulky head, and no extra attachments for corners or angles. As a result, it can't quite tackle corners and angles as well as a mop can.

When using the Shark HydroVac, the tricky part was trying to get the brush head into awkward angles. One of my kitchen cabinets has a curved design, which makes it challenging to properly angle the head to give the area a good clean.

I eventually got around this with a simple floor wipe, but it's worth bearing in mind if you have a lot of angles or awkward corners.

3. No advanced features

The Shark HydroVac is as simple as it can get, which makes it perfect for non-tech savvy people like me.

The power button on the handle turns on the LCD display that gives you basic indicators like the battery level and when to fill or empty the water tanks.

While it doesn't come with any advanced settings (hydration levels, etc),or fancy mod cons, what I do find more valuable is its self-cleaning function. This means that you’ll never have to worry about rinsing out a grimy mop head and bucket. Simply place it onto the charging base, power it on and it will automatically self-clean.

However, if you're after a more ‘smart’ wet and dry vacuum cleaner, the Tineco Floor One S5 Extreme Wet-Dry Vacuum Cleaner comes with advanced features such as self-propelled operation and voice guidance to assist you while you're cleaning.

In any case, you can use Shark's app to name rooms, set no-go zones, and send the robot out to spot-clean a 5x5 area just by dropping a pin on the map.

Shark’s 2-in-1 Combo has three cleaning modes; vacuum only, mop only or deep clean, which first vacuums your carpets then returns to the dock to attach its pad to vacuum and mop simultaneously on hard floors.

Additionally, the Shark PowerDetect boasts some impressive features. A favorite is the ActiveLift leg that helps it crawl over obstacles, and effortlessly glide from carpets to hard floors. This is ideal if you have both carpeting and hard floors in adjoining room or areas. Plus, its onboard AI is smart enough to detect heavy-duty messes or stains and boost suction power accordingly.

In our Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum review, it excelled in deep cleaning, with an overall score of 95% on hardwood and 90% on carpet. It particularly scored high for pet hair pick-up , which is good news for pet owners who are constantly dealing with fur around the home.

It did score lower when picking up larger debris such as kitty litter on carpet. The app was also a little unreliable with connectivity issues at times. However, outside of a little more prowess on carpet, the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 is a powerful, hybrid robot vacuum that will handle all your daily cleaning chores.

Best for carpets

What you need to know

If you want your carpets to stay looking brand new, the Shark IQ robot vac is a great option.

It comes with all the things you'd normally get in more premium models. Features like advanced mapping features, a multi-surface brushroll to tackle ingrained dirt and pet hair and a convenient self-emptying base.

The easy-to-use Shark app makes automating straightforward, and is responsive to any issues the bot runs into. You can simply set and forget it for over a month, thanks to its advanced scheduling capabilities and self-emptying dustbin that can hold up to 45 days worth of debris. Always handy if you don't want to get your hands dirty after each cleaning session.

During our Shark IQ review tests, it scored exceptionally well when cleaning high and low pile carpets (99%) and hard floors (96%). It also gave high scores for pet hair pick-up, and handling larger debris such as kitty litter.

We were also impressed by the effectiveness of its 'IQ' navigation, which is a row-cleaning pattern. This meant that it thoroughly picked up fur and debris even if it blasted them to the sides on an initial passthrough.

The only downside is that the Shark IQ lacks multi-level floor mapping, which may not be ideal if you have a larger home with several floors. It's also a very loud operator, so you might need to consider how often and when you'll be using it in the home.

In any case, the Shark IQ has powerful pick-up, and plenty of great features, such as the self-emptying base, all under $500.

Best for hard floors

What you need to know

Those who struggle with keeping their hard floors clean and mark-free will benefit from the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop. This is mainly thanks to its 'Sonic Mopping' feature that oscillates to scrub hard floors at a fast, 100x per minute, to tackle those stubborn, stuck-on stains.

And while we are waiting to get our hands on this robot vacuum to test ourselves, Amazon customers have praised its cleaning power, with one stating that it "does a fair job of vacuuming and mopping, especially for pet owners." It also has 'Matrix Clean', which is essentially cleaning in a grid-like pattern to ensure that no spots are missed.

Besides excellent mopping abilities, it comes with 360-degree LiDAR sensors that quickly detects obstacles, and 'precision mapping' to accurately map out your home.

Another notable feature is its CleanEdge abilities, which works by blasting air to remove dust and grime hiding in baseboard edges and corners, and put it in its cleaning path. And if you have a large home or plenty of rooms to tackle, its dust canister can hold up to 60 days worth of dirt, so you can forget about it after cleaning.

Overall, the Shark Matrix Plus is highly rated for giving a powerful clean, especially on hard floors. It's also a convenient, all-in-one robot vacuum for those who have pets, and will make light work of heavy-duty chores.

With warmer months fast approaching, no doubt we'll soon find ourselves searching for ways to cool down. Using mist to keep you cool

Shark are no stranger to making an impressive fan. In fact, in early March Shark dropped a bladeless fan that promises to be the most powerful on the market. And it's not done yet. The award-winning brand have not one, but two new fans to add to their FlexBreeze family — the Pro Mist and HydroGo. They both feature Shark's cutting-edge misting technology, thanks to a refillable misting tank onboard to make you instantly cool.

With the Pro Mist, Shark promises an indoor and outdoor fan that is "ultra-powerful, whisper-quiet, and perfect for any space in your home or beyond the backyard." To get it outside, the Pro Mist can run as corded or cordless with 24 hours of runtime at speed 1, six hours at speed 3, and two hours at max speed. And there's two different ways to use it — on a pedestal or as a table fan.

With the HydroGo, at half the price of the Pro Mist, it's a lightweight portable cooling solution that uses the same misting technology, but on a smaller more travel-friendly scale. Available in six colors from Quartz Pink to Honeydew Green and more, you're sure to find one to suit your style. And then, you can enjoy five fan speeds, the spa-like cooling effect of the mist, and up to 12 hours of cooling on a single charge (depending on your speed).

Perfect for on-the-go

Fans are great for keeping you cool indoors, but when it's hot outside, mini handheld fans or even paper fans you fashion yourself aren't quite up to the job at keeping you cool on-the-go. That's where these two Shark fans really step up to the plate. Whilst the Pro Mist is a lot more weighty at 15lbs, the ability to turn it into a tabletop fan, remove the Pro Mist Tank and bring it with you whilst you go cordless is a unique quality.

And with the HydroGo, it's quite literally in the name. To keep on-the-go, you can carry this 5lbs lightweight solution with you with the sturdy handle and built in stand. This compact design isn't light on quality though with up to 70ft of reach thanks to the packed in power.

While we haven't got a hands-on review ready to go just yet, we're hoping to get a taster of the portable and misting qualities of this new range — just in time for summer.

Shark just announced its latest innovation, the TurboBlade Fan. Coined to be the most powerful bladeless fan, it can accelerate air up to 80 feet at its highest speed—a pretty big deal in the already well-stocked home cooling market.

It's not the first fan from Shark, but it's certainly the first one to act and look like this. The six models in the FlexBreeze family all appear how you'd expect a fan to look with a large head and fixed base - whether floor standing or table. This is where the TurboBlade stands out. The ultra-quiet bladeless tower has oscillating multi-directional blades that can spread cool air across your home and also doesn't look like a fan at all.

The Shark TurboBlade Fan is now available to buy for $249.99 from SharkHome.com, though only available in the Coal model for now - with Dove White labelled as 'coming soon.'

Double the coverage

The Shark TurboBlade is packed with features that make it a unique offering from the household appliances brand. And with such a busy cooling category market, it's important to stand out from the pack.

A premium thin design full of cutomization

The Shark TurboBlade Fan is an incredibly discreet cooling product - not only in sound, but in the way it looks. The multi-directional blades pivot, twist and oscillate around the adjustable telescoping pole to provide coverage across your home. A fantastic innovation that means you can use the fan in both a horizontal and vertical orientation, to suit your every need.

Ten different speeds

The other fans in Shark's extensive range all have five different speeds, but the TurboBlade has ten. Depending on your cooling preference, that's a lot of choice. And there's even specific modes like Sleep that'll mute chimes and lights on the unit, as well as optimizing speed to make sure you get the best sleep. Then there's BreezeBoost for a powerful airflow in a burst mode and Natural Breeze Mode which randomizes airflow as if to emulate the great outdoors.

Optimal sleep

Alongside Sleep Mode, the TurboBlade also has an AirBlanket mode - geared towards sleeping. For this, the fan delivers ultra-quiet cooling power in the horizontal alignment to make sure you're getting widespread and consistent coverage.

Easy to clean

A fear when inviting new household appliances into your home is that there's just one more thing that you'll need to clean. Fortunately, the TurboBlade's wipe-clean Dust Defense makes this task a whole lot easier - and will make your ProBlade last a lot longer, too.

Powerful but discreet

Whilst its been slated as the most powerful bladeless fan, the TurboBlade will not overwhelm with noise or presence. And that's even when oscillating for 360-degree coverage between vertical Tower Mode and horizontal widespread Air Blanket Mode. With dual blades and twistable vents, it'll still remain at a discreet level of noise, especially when utilizing the multiple sleep modes - just some of the 10 different ones on offer.

And while the TurboBlade's design is also incredibly sleek and subtle, Shark still somehow make room to store your remote - with a magnetic backing. In part due to its just under 45cm height with a 31.5cm width. Plus, the telescoping pole can also be adjusted on height preference. To achieve high-speed and still be ultra-quiet is quite an impressive skill and one that Shark claim is incredibly possible with their new innovation. We'll reserve judgment until we get our hands on a model for a full review, but we're certainly excited at the limitlessly cooling prospect.

Shark is the company best known for making some of the top vacuum cleaners on the market, but it's also making waves in the beauty space. The brand first launched its smart and competitively-priced hair styling tools a couple of years ago, and famously gave the likes of Dyson a run for its money.

Now, Shark is taking a shot at the luxury LED skincare market with the launch of its CryoGlow face mask.

The Shark CryoGlow is $349 — not cheap, but compared to market leaders such as CurrentBody and Dr. Dennis Gross, it's incredibly well-priced. If you're based in the U.K., this mask has been available at £299 for a little while already, but it's a new release for U.S. shoppers According to Shark, it's "developed with dermatologists, backed by clinical testing, and FDA-cleared."

So how do LED face masks work, and what makes this one different? LED masks have been making big waves over the last year, promising to tackle acne-causing bacteria and fine lines with a range of different treatments. The Shark CryoGlow goes one step further than anything else I've seen on the market with its targeted under-eye cooling pads.

Here's what you need to know.

What we know about the Shark CryoGlow

Well, like all LED masks, there's no denying that this looks... a little creepy. My Editor caught a glimpse of my screen as I researched the CryoGlow and said "Oh dear God, what is that?" Fair, Jeff, that's fair.

To answer Jeff's question, it's a smart face treatment mask that uses three types of light to penetrate three different layers of the skin and address issues from fine lines to acne to collagen production at the cause. Did I mention that it's hands-free? That's my favorite part, because I love to multi-task.

There are four settings on offer with this face mask:

The first, Better Aging Treatment, is a 6-minute treatment which uses red and infrared LEDs aimed to tackle fine lines and firming sagging skin. The Skin Clearing Treatment is for those who suffer with acne, using blue light to kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce redness for a more even and clear complexion.

The Skin Sustain Treatment uses a range of lights (blue, red and infrared) to enhance skin radiance and preserve optimal skin condition, and then there's the Under-Eye Revive Treatment which uses dedicated under-eye pads to cool and soothe tired or dry under-eyes for a tightening effect.

And also, it just feels really nice.

My first impressions

I've tested LED face masks before. As I cling to my 20's with all my might, I'm always looking for new gear that can do the hard work for me!

The CryoGlow slots securely onto the face (the mask I had used previously, the Sensse Professional LED Face Mask, lies flat and contours to the face with an elasticated strap) and claims to beat the competition on coverage and energy. Using "tri-wick LED sequencing", Shark says it "beams energy between the layers of the skin for an effective, seamless coverage, without gaps or hot spots."

Having used it a couple of times, it feels more comfortable to use than my current LED mask, and I was able to sit and read my book while I used the pre-set Skin Sustain Treatment. I've only used it a handful of times, but so far I'm a fan. When testing LED masks in the past the biggest difference I noticed was in my redness. I went from quite parched and red skin to a calmer and more fresh complexion. I'm no dermatologist, but I do think it made a difference.

Most impressively, the smart control handset makes this mask incredibly accessible. It walks you through the programs, allows you to adjust the cooling settings, and encourages you to get into a routine with your new mask. It also shows the battery level, which is so convenient. My old mask would often run out mid-cycle because there was no way of knowing when it would run out of battery.

With that being said, the battery life is quite poor on the CryoGlow. It needs re-charging every three or four uses. Shark does sell a charging stand... now, I don't know about you, but I don't want to prop this thing up on my bedside table. Imagine waking up to that in the night... terrifying.

I'll be writing a full review of the Shark CryoGlow once I've had longer to test it, but so far it gets a thumbs-up from me.

When it comes to household chores, everybody needs one of the best vacuum cleaners to quickly suck up dirt and get our floors spotless. But with so many different types on the market, it can be tough to find the right one for your home.

As Homes editor, I've spent countless hours reviewing vacuums (so you don’t have to) around my house. From leading brands such as Shark, Dyson and Tineco to more sustainable brands such as Halo, I’ve put these all to the test.

But while I’ve had some good contenders, there are a few winners that have caught my eye. Whether it be for their incredible power to tackle any stubborn stain, ease of use or impressive features, these are my top 3 vacuum cleaners of 2024.

1. Dyson WashG1 wet floor cleaner

Great at washing my hard floors and leaving it dry

Since I have mainly hard flooring and tile to keep clean, the task of mopping was often the bain of my life. And after testing a handful of wet and dry vacuums this year, I wasn’t entirely convinced they did a better job than my traditional mop and bucket.

That was until I reviewed the Dyson WashG1 wet floor cleaner for a few weeks in my home. This wet and dry vac comes with a capsule-style tank that is divided in two parts — one for clean water and a dirty water tank. Essentially, it works from counter-rotating motorized rollers (instead of vacuum suction), to shift and remove spills, debris, and stains in one swoop. It also has a debris tray that slides out to empty after use.

With its stylish and slimline design, I liked the initial look of the Dyson WashG1. And despite feeling slightly heavy, it was surprisingly easy to push over my hard flooring. Since I’m all about simplicity, there are no complicated instructions for setting up, and everything you need to know is displayed on the LCD screen on the handle bar. It will even tell you when to fill or empty the water tank.

I was impressed by its powerful suction power to quickly wash the floors and remove touch stains with ease. All of which took less time than my pitiful, manual work!

I particularly liked its swivel-head mechanism and edge cleaning that tackled the edges of baseboards better than expected. More importantly, it didn’t leave behind unsightly dirt streaks or puddles on the floors — which I’ve often found with wet and dry vacuums. What’s more, the floors had a quick drying time — which is always handy, and my marble kitchen floor tiles had never looked so white. With a battery life of 35 minutes, I was able to clean my home in under 20.

Best of all, I didn’t have to carry a bucket of water around or even get my hands dirty. You just simply empty out the contained water tank once you’re done, with no messy spills.

If you have plenty of hard floors to clean in your home, and don’t want the back-breaking task of mopping then, then the Dyson Wash G1 is my winner for the year.

2. Shark Clean & Empty Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Super lightweight and the self-emptying is a bonus

Another pet peeve of mine is carrying a weighty, cordless cleaner up and down stairs or around the home. Plus, once I’ve transformed my cordless stick into a handheld to tackle corners, awkward spots and stairs, it can start to feel heavier over the course of cleaning.

Finally, I found a super lightweight, cordless vacuum cleaner after reviewing the Shark Clean and Empty stick vacuum. In fact, this is 30% lighter than Shark's other models, which is why it was a breeze to lift and handle with one hand. And while it doesn’t have any smart features, it boasts all the handy features that you need.

I particularly liked the multi-surface cleaning to detect and adjust to the levels of dirt, the bright LED floor light, and (my favorite), its auto-emptying and charging base, which saves you the hassle of emptying a dirty dust canister after each use. Unlike other models, it doesn’t have a trigger operation, and you’ll need to press a separate button to activate the motorized roller head.

But how did it cope on my floors? Despite its lightweight appearance, I was impressed by its mighty power to quickly suck up debris and dirt in no time. It had even picked up some stubborn dirt wedged in the crevices of my living room, wood flooring.

Although the vacuum will automatically boost the suction to make sure everything gets picked up, it also did a good cleaning job on Eco (lower suction) mode. The only caveat is that it might be noisy for some (and it gets louder the more grime it tackles), however, this was a minor issue for me. My carpets and hard floors were left spotless.

My favorite thing by far was how superlight the Shark Clean and Empty stick vacuum was to handle, and easy it was to zip around the home — which made my cleaning chores less of a chore.

3. Halo Capsule X Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Don’t let the bags put you off

Honestly, I would never have considered buying a bagged cordless cleaner for my home. In fact, it reminds me of my childhood, watching my parents having to swap out the dust bags of their trusted vacuum cleaner.

However, it seems as though bagged vacuum cleaners are having a modern-day resurgence. If you’re concerned about sustainability, or simply want a powerful clean, the Halo Capsule cordless cleaner is my unsung hero of 2024!

The Halo Capsule range are bagged, capsule-style vacuum cleaners, with eco-friendly, dust pouches. Of course, this means that you’d need to change the dust bags once they get full and spend money on replacement bags. However, the sealed bags trap dirt and allergens more effectively, which is great for those with dust allergies like myself!

Easy to assemble with a simple click, the Halo Capsule X was surprisingly lightweight to lift. I just had to remember to fit a dust pouch inside the capsule first before use. One impressive thing was its 60-minute battery life, and I liked the fact that it comes with a spare battery — amongst the endless accessories in the box.

Compared to its high-spec, fancy counterparts, the Halo Capsule X looks a little lacklustre with a basic, three button operation. However, it packs in a powerful punch when cleaning my hard floors and carpets. It did a superior job of picking up visible dirt — even on Eco mode, and tackled grains of rice.

And I made use of the countless accessories to suit every task, such as the motor head brush that lifted up visible dirt and hair strands ingrained in my beige carpet and stairs.

What’s more, there was no messy dust canister to empty afterwards, and the air was notably fresh. If you’re not too fussed about fancy features, and just want a powerful cleaner, this Halo Capsule X is definitely one to watch out for.

In my quest for domestic bliss, I've learned that a vacuum cleaner is the unsung hero of home cleanliness. As the senior smart home editor here at Tom's Guide, I spend my days testing out some of the best robot vacuums. Roomba's J9+ Combo and Shark's PowerDetect 2-in-1 are two of the highest-performing hybrid options you can buy for under $1,000. They also happen to be my go-to robovacs with mopping capabilities, which is why I've kept them set up in my smart home long after their review period.

Now that the new Roomba Combo 10 Max has replaced the J9+ Combo as the brand's flagship model, the price of the older model has been slashed down to just $899, $100 less than the new Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1. However, it should be noted that you can find both models on sale frequently, so be sure to check prices before buying. 

While you'll save some cash upfront, keep in mind that the Shark's higher cost nets you a NeverTouch base. This cleans and drains the mop on its own for weeks on end, whereas the J9+ needs its mop pad cleaned by hand after each session.

Both the Roomba and Shark are available on Amazon. The J9+ Combo costs $899.99, while the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 costs $999.99. Although the Roomba is cheaper, Shark's robot offers a much better value since its base has self-cleaning mop and deodorizer functions for a truly hands-off hybrid robot vacuum experience.

Roomba J9+ Combo vs. Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: Design

Roomba's thinner robot and sleek Clean Base have a more premium design. The robot's docking station maintenance panels are easily accessible through a front-facing cabinet drawer. This leaves the wooden top available as a table for holding decor. Overall, this looks less like a machine and more like a piece of furniture that blends into any environment.

The slimmer J9+ glides smoothly like a hockey puck under the couch or even the tight underhang along kitchen cabinets with ease. It navigates your space using sensors in addition to a camera with an LED headlight to locate and avoid potential obstacles. There's only a single operation button at the top, with a clear dividing line where the mop pad is. The J9+ doesn't ditch its pad at the base—instead, its signature feature is a convertible pad that folds down and drags along the back. When it detects carpet, it folds atop itself to prevent spilling even a drip.

Shark's robot looks more industrial, which prioritizes function over design. It's by no means an ugly-looking machine and is easier to use if you want to plop it down and throw it into vacuum or mop mode with a press of its vacuum, mop, or home button. Its LiDAR turret sticks out as it navigates your space, and the more plasticky finish reminds you that it's a gadget above all else. While the robot has to drop its pad off at its base when mopping near carpets, Shark's NeverStuck leg gives it a leg up on the J9+. This lifts the machine over saddles and carpets effortlessly, whereas the Roomba tends to bump into them and force its way over.

The Shark returns to its NeverTouch base, which is bigger than Roomba's Clean Base but has more functionality. On the top of the base sits three panels consisting of a larger debris chamber towards the back, two water tanks in the front (for dirty and clean) with easy-to-grip handles, and a circular indent for the odor-neutralizing canister to keep scents at bay.

Although its bigger it still fits into the crevices and overhangs in my kitchen but cant easily squeeze under my couch like the Roomba can. Overall the Roomba's retractable arm, slimmer design, and front-side access that leaves the top as a decor display space give the Roomba the edge in the looks department. That said, the Shark is the better option for those who prioritize functionality.

Roomba J9+ Combo vs. Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: Performance

Roomba's flagship provides stronger suction on carpets and wipes the floor with the Shark when it comes to removing granular kitty litter from a rug. Its retractable mop pad means it doesn't have to waste time returning to the base for the pad between runs. Unlike with the Shark, you can adjust its water levels with granular control, plus its obstacle avoidance is backed by Roomba's exclusive P.O.O.P. guarantee. Should the J9+ run over pet waste, you'll be sent a new replacement. With that said, it trails behind the shark by a few points in every other category and requires that you wash its mop pad by hand each time.

Shark's AI technology goes beyond boosting carpet suction. Its mopping performance is much more thorough as StainDetect could identify adhesive residue and pass over it several times while the Roomba left it behind. It also extends its pads outward in corners for better reach in underhangs. It's overall the stronger cleaner of the two, picking up more material in almost every scenario save for its Kryptonite—kitty litter in the carpet. I find both vacuums do an incredibly thorough job, but the Shark has better debris pickup scores and mopping performance.

Roomba J9+ Combo vs. Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1: App and smart home features

Both systems work with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice controls and triggering routines. The iRobot app takes things further by recommending cleaning schedules, identifying which rooms get the dirtiest (then cleaning them extra), and performing maintenance checks all on its own. Plus, it supports multi-floor mapping, so you can use it on your main floor and carry it up or down.

Shark's app is easy to use and matches most of the Roomba's advanced features. This includes creating advanced schedules, marking rooms, and implementing No-Go zones. However, you will have to place the bot down for a dry vacuum or mop session on other floors of your home.

The Shark offers a more streamlined experience that you can set and forget for up to a month at a time. Its minimal maintenance means you deal with it just once at the end of the month to replace the water tanks and empty the dust bin. It even has an allergen filter and deodorizer built-in. For the most hands-off robot vacuum experience that includes mopping, the PowerDetect 2-in-1 is the hybrid robot vacuum you should buy.

iRobot's Roomba is just as capable in its performance. It also doesn't need to return to a base to deep clean—it can make that decision to raise the mop on the fly when moving between hardwood and carpets. If you're willing to wash the mop pad after each session the $100 you save is nothing to scoff at. That's especially true f you mainly do dry vacuum runs because it has the same 60-day dustbin capacity.

The Shark FlexStyle is advertised with one goal in mind — a hairstyler for “all hair kind”. And the FlexStyle delivers on that promise with a versatile and easy-to-use gadget that comes with a variety of attachments offering an affordable rival to Dyson’s Airwrap.

The two companies have been competitors for a long time, with Shark in the US nipping at the heels of UK’s Dyson with vacuums since the early 2000s. And the FlexStyle is no different, taking a few notes from Dyson’s first-generation Airwrap — using two curling barrels (for each side of the head) that Dyson has since combined into one.

Just like the Airwrap, the Shark FlexStyle also uses air to reduce the amount of heat being applied to your hair. It can also be transformed into a hairdryer with a simple twist at the end of the styling wand, and it comes with attachments to suit both modes. The included attachments differ according to the country you’re buying it in and the bundle options available in that location. That said, a selection of brushes and a diffuser are included as standard no matter where you are, helping it to stand apart from its Dyson counterpart.

The inclusion of the diffuser shows that Shark is taking its claim for “all hair kind” seriously. Most of the included attachments available with the FlexStyle are well suited for straight or wavy hair, but natural curls are typically lost when using the paddle brush or curling barrels, so adding a diffuser into the mix is a great inclusion, especially as the Airwrap doesn’t offer one at all.

It also one-ups the Dyson Airwrap in price across all regions, with the Shark FlexStyle’s starting cost making it a much more affordable multi-styler in the US, UK and Australia.

Shark FlexStyle review: price and availability

Initially launched back in August 2022 in the US, the Shark FlexStyle has been steadily making its way around the globe, coming to the UK not long after its initial launch, and finally hitting the Australian market in June 2023.

The Shark FlexStyle’s rose gold and a black/pink swatches are available in all regions, and there’s a limited edition copper/black version that’s only available in the US. All color options are available directly from the Shark website for each region, and there’s a number of third-party sellers that also stock the FlexStyle in the US, UK and Australia.

For the US and the UK, prices start at $279.99 / £269.99 for the build-your-own bundle, which comes with up to four accessories of your choice. From there prices go to $299.99 / £279.99 with the unit and a number of pre-selected attachments, and then $349.99 / £299.99 when buying it bundled along with the carry case. The US also has a $319.99 bundle option that includes the FlexStyle and six attachments.

In Australia, there’s only one pricing option at this time, and the AU$499 set comes with six attachments (including the two curling barrels), a carry case and the styling wand/dryer itself.

When compared to the current model of the Dyson Airwrap, which had a launch price of $599.99 / £479.99 / AU$949, the Shark FlexStyle’s starting price is hard to argue against. It’s important to note that Dyson’s second version combined the two barrels into one that can switch directions, so while the Airwrap and FlexStyle come with a similar number of attachments, Dyson’s curling barrels are two attachments built into one. That might offer a bit more value for your money, but it's still a steep difference of $300 / £200 / AU$450.

Regardless, the price of the Shark FlexStyle is still a fair bit of money to invest in a hairstyling tool, and it’s value is there if it’s something that’s used regularly. However, for something more affordable that will dry and brush out your hair at once, the Revlon One-Step is a good alternative, priced at just $60 / £49.99 / AU$99, but it doesn’t offer the styling ability of its more expensive counterparts.

Shark FlexStyle review: design

Since the Shark FlexStyle uses hot air to reduce the amount of heat applied when styling, its wand is a tube that allows said air to flow from the bottom of the device to the top through small vents. All the controls you need are within easy reach of your thumb, placed along the length of the wand. These include its on/off switch — which is a sliding button — plus three other one-press buttons for heat settings, airflow control and a short blast of cool air.

Where Shark’s FlexStyle really stands apart from the Dyson Airwrap is in its flexible design. While the Airwrap’s styling wand is rigid, the FlexStyle’s can swivel into an L-shape, turning into a traditional hair dryer. It’s a really simple design, with a small switch that you’ll need to hold down to lock the wand into its dryer mode. This eliminates any accidental swaps when you’re drying or styling.

A similar switch is also used to lock the attachments in place when you want to style your hair. Of the six included with our test unit, four are suitable for use when in styling wand mode and two can be used in dryer mode, though the hairdryer can be used without any attachments if necessary. Attaching any of these is easy — they just require a simple twist at the top of the tube.

All the attachments have cool-touch locations, so if you need to swap between them mid-styling, you won’t have to wait for them to cool down. This is especially handy for the curling barrels, which you need to swap between if you want your curls to alternate directions on opposite sides of your head. Shark’s competitor Dyson has since perfected the curling barrels so they can rotate in different directions on the one attachment, but FlexStyle still uses the two-barrel design Dyson originally used back when the first Airwrap was first released in 2018.

Overall, it’s a well designed multi-styler — it’s not too heavy at 700g (compared to 610g for the Airwrap), but it feels like a quality build with a rose-gold finish to its outer plastic shell. The power cord is also a good length of 2m, offering plenty of room to move while styling, and it never got in the way while we were testing the styler. On the other hand, the Airwrap’s cord is a little longer at 2.68m.

The only concern we can anticipate in the long run is wear and tear of the clips that hold the attachments in place. We’ve been testing the FlexStyle for about two months now and we’re yet to see any evidence of this happening, however, it might be something to watch out for. And this issue isn’t unique to the Shark FlexStyle — any multi-styler with clip-in attachments will likely be prone to wear and tear after long-term use.

Our test unit also came with a storage case, which initially had cardboard inserts to hold each attachment in place. It’s nicely designed, with a faux leather exterior and soft-lined interior. As nice as it looks, it’s rather bulky and will require some dedicated space somewhere to stow away. That said, if you remove the cardboard inserts, you’ll get plenty of space to add in clips, brushes and other styling tools you already own that you might like to keep with the Shark FlexStyle.

Shark FlexStyle review: performance

Before diving into the performance of the styler, it’s best to mention that this review is based on the Shark FlexStyle being used on very thick, long hair (mid-back length) that is dyed, damaged and straight.

Handily, each attachment included with the Shark FlexStyle is clearly explained in a styling guide that’s included with the machine. It breaks down the suggested temperature, airflow, length of use, and additionally has hints and tips for styling that are easy to follow and incredibly useful, especially for beginners.

As such, this made the learning curve for using the autowrap curlers a lot smaller. It explained that the curlers worked best on small sections of damp hair, and what end length to leave for the curlers to pull in. Once that curve was overcome, using those curling barrels took only around 20 minutes to style hair that would normally take upwards of an hour with a hair straightener to add in the same curls. 

Like the Airwrap, the air around the FlexStyle’s curlers pulls in the tip of the hair and wraps the length of it to the 240mm barrel — all I needed to do was keep it upright and move it slightly close to my face across 10 seconds for each section of hair. The cool-shot button helped to set the curls, though I found that hairspray is required to get some decent longevity out of the style. This may not be the case for every person — use of additional products will depend on the hair type.

The curling barrels easily got the most use during our testing period, being used to style hair in both up-dos and while down and flowy. They added bounce to otherwise flat hair, and worked well with both side and middle partings, so long as I used the correct curler for each side of my head.

Alongside the curler barrels are two brushes — one paddle and one round. Both feature long plastic teeth as well as finer bristles that can handle knots with ease, whether the hair was wet or dry. This meant that we could get out of the shower and have my hair dried and styled with a smooth and straight or voluminous style within 15 minutes. This method, however, doesn’t avoid flyaways.

To avoid flyaways, the styling concentrator was fantastic, mimicking the concentrated air you’d get from Dyson’s Coanda smoothing dryer attachment. However, unlike Dyson’s attachment, it’s not a barrel, so it only smooths hair by pressing the flyaways down with a blast of hot air.

The one attachment that couldn’t be thoroughly tested was the diffuser, as while it’ll help straight or wavy hair dry with some natural-looking waves, it’s best observed on curly hair.

It’s important to note that during our testing, most of these attachments either used the highest or second-highest heat setting to style hair. So there’s still a considerable amount of heat being applied, and it’s recommended to still use a heat protective spray, especially when using the curling barrels or the styling concentrator.

Across all three levels of air flow and in both wand and dryer modes, the Shark FlexStyle emits a high-pitched noise that is about as loud as any other hair dryer. It’s not a comfortable sound at all, but given how quickly it styles hair, we didn’t have to listen to it for long, but it could disturb other members of the household or even your neighbors.

If the sound doesn’t bother you, then we can honestly say that theShark FlexStyle does everything it says on the tin and offers performance that’s well worth the money you pay for it.

Shark FlexStyle review: verdict

Shark’s entry into the hairstyling game might have taken some… OK, a lot of notes from Dyson, but the FlexStyle offers it at a fraction of the cost. Promoting hair diversity with a selection of attachments that match that message, the Shark FlexStyle is a well designed multi-styler that will cut down the time spent on styling hair. Coming with clear instructions and styling tips, it’s a hair tool that can be used by both beginners and professionals to achieve styles at home in less time.

The design and quality of the Shark FlexStyle is also fantastic, offering a versatile unit that is easy to use with simple snap-in attachments. While it uses an old two-barrel attachment design for its curlers – that has since been improved on by the Dyson Airwrap – and it’s got an awful high-pitched noise that is hard to ignore, it’s a big first step for Shark in the hair styling arena.
