"Cobra Kai" is a rarity: a TV spinoff of a 1980s film franchise — "The Karate Kid," duh — that was successful and beloved enough in its own right to run for six seasons on Netflix.

That sequel series has now come to an end after the third and final installment of "Cobra Kai" season six dropped today (Feb. 13). But according to the show's creators, the series finale might not be the last time fans see Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and the rest of your favorite karate-loving Valley residents.

When asked by Collider about the potential for a spin-off from the "Cobra Kai" universe, the show's co-creator Hayden Schlossberg said, "There is nothing official to say regarding spin-offs other than we are working on them behind the scenes. Our 'Cobra Kai' fan brains are always thinking of multiple possibilities, and we've been working on stuff. The hope is that there's something official to say at some point."

Schlossberg — who created the martial arts series alongside Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz — has previously taken on the question of future spinoffs, telling The Hollywood Reporter in November 2024: "When we watched the final episode of 'Cobra Kai' we see so many potential spinoffs, some intentionally and other unintentionally laid throughout the course of this six-season story. So, the show will end our love for 'The Karate Kid', but our desire to play in 'The Karate Kid' sandbox doesn’t end. It’s just that this is a story that really followed the redemption of Johnny Lawrence [played by William Zabka], and that story is going to come to a close."

He added, "Along that journey, we’ve had so many other characters and we’ve delved into the past and the backstories. And I think you’re going to, hopefully, finish the series and feel like you want more. And whether that’s delving into some of the characters and their pasts or where their future lies ahead, there will definitely be a lot of potential that you’ll see in those last episodes."

There will already be more Daniel LaRusso following the finale, with Macchio back to portray the Miyagi-Do sensei in the upcoming film "Karate Kids: Legends," which will hit theaters on Friday, May 30. However, that title will not be connected directly to "Cobra Kai" storylines. Rather, Macchio will be joined by Jackie Chan, who is reprising his role as Mr. Han from the 2010 "Karate Kid" film, as sensei of a new pupil, Ben Wang's Li Fong.

So it still remains to be seen if a "Cobra Kai"-specific spinoff is in the works, whether it follows Miyagi-Do students like Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) and Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), sensei like Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) and Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim), or other characters entirely.

“It ends in a way that has all those ’80s movie feels and cheers and tears, and yet sees it through a ‘Cobra Kai’ kind of lens,” Ralph Macchio recently revealed to The New York Times about the end of "Cobra Kai," the long-running Netflix hit that continued the storylines from the star's blockbuster breakthrough, 1984's "The Karate Kid."

He added that if the upcoming "Karate Kid: Legends" film does well at the box office, he'd love to see a "Cobra Kai" movie "in two or three years."

"As long as there’s a way to be truthful to the characters, to propel a story in a way that opens it up to generations, it’s something I’d be open to having a conversation about."

Outside of six seasons of "Cobra Kai," Macchio has portrayed Daniel LaRusso in three "Karate Kid" films thus far and will reprise his most famous role for a fourth time on the big screen in "Karate Kid: Legends," which will hit theaters on Friday, May 30. (Set three years after the action of "Cobra Kai," the "Legends" film will also see the return of martial-arts icon Jackie Chan as Mr. Han, a character from the 2010 “Karate Kid” film.)

The actor shared with the outlet how it feels to have continued the "Karate Kid" franchise across both films and a TV spinoff these past four decades. "I’m feeling great, because when does this happen? A show based on a movie from 34 years prior creating a new fandom and new generations of fans around a franchise," Macchio said. "It feels like it’s landing at the right time and not overstaying its welcome. I’m excited for fans around the world to see Johnny and Daniel and all the characters come in for a landing."

Four decades' worth of drama finally comes to a close on Thursday, Feb. 13, when the third and final installment of "Cobra Kai" sixth season crane-kicks its way onto Netflix. The teaser also shows "Cobra Kai" characters struggling in the wake of that deadly Sekai Taikai tournament, which — spoiler alert! — tragically saw Cobra Kai's star fighter Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) perish on the karate mat mid-competition.

But the tournament seemingly isn't paused for long, as the Miyagi-Do students are soon back in battle against Silver's tough new dojo, The Iron Dragons. We see several training sessions in the new teaser, including between Tory Nichols (Peyton List) and Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) and Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), and, interestingly, between the Miyagi-Do senseis themselves, with Johnny and Daniel seen running down a boulevard joined by cheering young fans. "Let's show these a**holes how we do things in the Valley," Johnny declares at one point.

Elsewhere during the Q&A, Hurwitz revealed that, "as a father of daughters" emotional scenes between Daniel and Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser) tended to get him misty the most ("@Ralphmacchio and @MaryMMouser are always magic together," he wrote), and that there are standout moments for "Cobra Kai" baddies John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim), as well as Miyagi-Do captain Robby Keene. Hurwitz also teased that "many tears will be shed over the course of these last five episodes," but added: " The question is whether they’ll be sad or happy tears." You can't have "Cobra Kai" without "The Karate Kid" — of course, the Netflix drama is a spinoff of that fan-favorite film franchise, centered on the decades-long rivalry between original "Karate Kid" characters Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and their struggles leading their own dojos.

Shue portrayed Ali Mills, the high school love interest of both Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the 1984 "The Karate Kid" film. The Oscar-nominated actress reprised her role in the third season of "Cobra Kai," which saw grown-up Ali as a soon-to-be-divorced pediatric surgeon living in Denver. While in Los Angeles for the holidays, Ali reconnected with both of her old flings. Does that MegaCon appearance — which will happen between Feb. 6 and Feb. 9 in Orlando, Florida — mean that we'll be seeing more Ali Mills in the final episodes of "Cobra Kai"?

So far, there's been no official confirmation that Ali Mills will be one of the "Cobra Kai" characters we'll be spending time with in season 6 part 3. However, Shue has previously discussed returning to the Netflix series — she jokingly told Entertainment Weekly in 2022: "Well, we already have a plan. It's going to be season 9. Ali is going to come back to the Valley and start her own dojo, and it's going to be a three-way fight for the soul of the Valley."

"This may be the end, but Cobra Kai never dies." Or so proclaims the franchise's latest teaser trailer, which announced that the third and final installment of "Cobra Kai" season 6 is officially arriving on Netflix on February 13, 2025.

“These middle five episodes ended in tragedy and shock not only for the people in that venue, but that was televised all over the world — who knows what the repercussions are going to be?” series co-creator Jon Hurwitz told Tudum.

And there's plenty of drama to go around for the five remaining episodes of the series. “All the big bads are still in play,” series co-creator Hayden Schlossberg added. “You still have Kreese, Silver, Sensei Wolf, Master Kim Da-Eun. Everyone is still on the board. Nothing’s been resolved. We have a lot of fun in store with all the characters left in tatters at the end of Episode 10.”

William Zabka, who has portrayed Johnny Lawrence in both the original "Karate Kid" films as well as all six seasons of "Cobra Kai," has previously likened the final season of the Netflix hit to a film trilogy.

“The stakes are set at the end of the first five. I think if it was just a movie, it’s a great ending that would beg for a sequel, which fortunately is coming in a few months,” the actor told Tudum.

"Cobra Kai" season 6 is the last chapter of the hit Netflix series, but it isn't the end of the "The Karate Kid" franchise.

Sony Pictures just dropped the first official trailer for its upcoming film "Karate Kid: Legends," which features "Cobra Kai" star and original Karate Kid Ralph Macchio reprising his role as sensei Daniel LaRusso. According to previous comments from LaRusso, this latest movie in the "Miyagi-verse" is set "after the events of 'Cobra Kai,'" confirming that the show and movies all connect canonically (h/t ScreenRant).

But Macchio isn't the only returning figure from the "The Karate Kid" franchise. Jackie Chan is also returning as Mr. Han, the kung fu master who trained Jaden Smith's Dre Parker in the 2010 reboot of the 1984 original. This time though, he's training kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) and he's turning to Daniel-san to help Li blend his kung fu knowledge with Miyagi-do karate to become the ultimate martial artist.

What to know about 'Karate Kid: Legends'

As mentioned above, this latest installment in "The Karate Kid" franchise introduces a new "Karate Kid" played by Ben Wang. The Chinese-American actor isn't a total newcomer to the world of feature films, but this is by far his biggest role to date. He was found in a global casting search of over 10,000 actors and landed the role in no small part due to the fact he's proficient in karate and kung fu, just like his character Li Fong will be by the end of "Karate Kid: Legends."

Despite being in the same universe as "Cobra Kai" though, the trailer sets a far more serious tone for this movie than the Netflix show, which isn't a comedy but not pure drama, either. But "Karate Kid: Legends" even starts on a dramatic note, as Li is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother following a family tragedy. If that seems familiar, it's incredibly similar to the backstory for Macchio's Daniel in the original "The Karate Kid."

Just like Daniel, Li struggles to fit in his new city but ultimately finds some solid ground in karate, ultimately joining a karate competition. But Li's background is kung fu, so his sensei Mr. Han enlists the pupil of his old friend Mr. Miyagi — Miyagi-do sensei Daniel LaRusso — to train Li for the competition.

Aside from Macchio, Chan and Wang, "Karate Kid: Legends" also stars Joshua Jackson as Victor (likely Li's nemesis) and Shaunette Renée Wilson as Ms. Morgan (seemingly no relation to Owen Morgan from "Cobra Kai") as well as Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, Danny McBride, and Jennifer-Lyn Christie in undisclosed roles. It arrives in theaters on May 30, 2025, but should eventually make its way to Netflix based on Sony's current licensing deals.

The Sekai Taikai, the world-famous karate tournament that brings Miyagi-Do to Barcelona this season, will not only prove to be tumultuous for the kids' karate dreams but also for their personal dynamics, especially between Robby and Tory.

Not only did Tory make a game-changing and relationship-testing decision in the part one finale when she — spoilers ahead! — shockingly quit the Miyagi-Do team following her mother's tragic death and instead reconnected with John Kreese (Martin Kove) as part of Team Cobra Kai, but it also seems like she might be cozying up to one of her new teammates while in Spain for the Sekai Taikai competition: Kwon Jae-Sung, a ruthless and antagonistic karate star played by Brandon H. Lee. In a trailer for the new episodes, Kwon can be seen with his arm intimately slung around the former Miyagi-Do student's shoulders, a development that will definitely not please her boyfriend.

"Karate high jinks ensue when you go abroad. You take a bunch of teenagers and put them in Barcelona in a karate tournament, and they're all in a hotel — different relationships start to form," said Hayden Schlossberg — who created "Cobra Kai" with Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald — in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I don’t want to say too much about what's going to happen, but there's always drama off the mat. I think with Robby and Tory in a negative place, that leaves the opportunity for Kwon to swoop in there. We’ll see how that unfolds, but be prepared for a little bit of that off-the-mat drama."

"Cobra Kai" season 6 is making a bit of streaming history over at Netflix. And the three-part rollout adds a fitting sense of grandness to the finale of the long-running martial-arts dramedy, with Zabka comparing the three-part release to a film trilogy.

“The stakes are set at the end of the first five. I think if it was just a movie, it’s a great ending that would beg for a sequel, which fortunately is coming in a few months,” the actor told Tudum.

As viewers already know, the end of episode 5 saw Miyagi-Do's sensei and students make their way to Barcelona for the Sekai Taikai, the world championships of karate. “That takes things to the next level,” co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg told Tudum.

Schlossberg added that the Sekai Taikai will be "a totally different environment" from previous tournaments featured in the franchise, like the All-Valley: "There’s no crowd watching. This is a karate temple that they’re going to, where the only people in attendance are black belts or karate masters."

As part of that setting switch-up, the second part of the final season will introduce fans to new karate competitors, including Lewis Tan ("Deadpool v. Wolverine", "Mortal Kombat") as Sensei Wolf, Patrick Luwis as Awel Kovacevic and Rayna Vallandingham, in her acting debut, as Zara Malik. They'll join familiar faces like sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto), as well as their young dojo fighters like Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), Tory Nichols (Peyton List), Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) and Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser).

When "Cobra Kai" season 6 returns with its second installment on Thursday, November 15 — the season is being released in three parts, with the third and final edition to come on a to-be-announced date in 2025 — fans will get to see plenty of familiar faces, from student-turned-sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) to fellow 'Karate Kid' characters like Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto).

But there will also be several new characters joining the cast now that the action has moved from the Miyagi-Do in Los Angeles, California, to the big Sekai Taikai karate tournament in Barcelona, Spain.

Per a recent report from Deadline, British actor and martial artist Lewis Tan — known for films like "Deadpool v. Wolverine" and "Mortal Kombat" and TV series such as "Shadow and Bone" and "Wu Assassins" — has joined the cast as Sensei Wolf, seemingly one of the instructors of a rival dojo at the Sekai Taikai competition. "Cobra Kai" fans will also meet several of Sensei Wolf's karate students in the back-half of season 6, including Axel Kovacevic (played by Patrick Luwis) and Zara Malik (Rayna Vallandingham). Luwis's credits include the Hulu miniseries "The Dropout" and the "Rebel Moon" film franchise, while Vallandingham is a YouTube personality and the youngest black belt martial artist to attain 12 World Championship Titles.

As viewers already know, both the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai dojos officially made it to the Sekai Taikai tournament in the mid-season finale, with one major surprise leaving us on a cliffhanger (warning: spoilers ahead!): former Miyagi-Do student Tory Nichols (Peyton List) seemingly got trapped in Kreese's web yet again and shows up at the global competition as a student of the baddie's dojo.

And given how intense the Sekai Taikai will be for the young competitors, added drama like a personal betrayal is the last thing the karate students need to deal with before they hit the mat. "Going into Part 2, we’re in Barcelona at the Sekai Taikai and we have the biggest, craziest martial arts tournament that has existed in 'The Karate Kid' franchise," showrunner Jon Hurwitz told The Hollywood Reporter in July. "You’re not going to see just the same traditional events that you’ve seen at all the All Valleys. There’s a lot more going on, both on and off the mat."

Last we saw of the Miyagi-Do crew in "Cobra Kai" season 6, sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and their students had officially touched down in Barcelona, Spain for the Sekai Taikai, a prestigious international karate competition bringing the best of the best dojos from around the world to prove their mettle on the mat.

A brand-new trailer for part 2 of the Netflix martial-arts dramedy shows that the tournament will be exactly as brutal as showrunners have been promising. 

The new two-minute clip, which the streamer released on Wednesday, October 23, sees the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai students taking on international competitors, who prove to be way tougher than the kids anticipated. "There's no way that we can win! At this point, I'd rather not lose any more brain cells," declares Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) in the trailer. 

And as if the physical fighting isn't enough, the kiddos will also have plenty of interpersonal drama to navigate during the tournament, especially with — spoilers ahead! — Tory Nichols (Peyton List) blindsiding the Miyagi-Do team and showing up to Sekai Taikai as a member of John Kreese's (Martin Kove) dojo. "Tory chose the other side, but we can't keep letting her get in our heads like this," Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser) can be heard proclaiming in the clip. 

The trailer also gives "Cobra Kai" fans a sneak peek at some new characters joining the cast for season 6 part 2, including Sensei Wolf (played by "Mortal Kombat" star Lewis Tan) and his kicking-and-punching pupils Axel Kovacevic (played by Patrick Luwis) and Zara Malik (Rayna Vallandingham). But even in the face of all that tough competition, Johnny Lawrence declares that Miyagi-Do will not be losing at Sekai Taikai, "so wipe the smirks off of their ugly faces."

Fans of the decades-spanning "Karate Kid" film franchise, as well as the "Cobra Kai" Netflix spin-off — which returns to the streamer with part two of its sixth season on November 15, with the third and final installment to come on a to-be-announced date in 2025 — were recently overjoyed to finally get some intel about the upcoming "Karate Kid" movie, which we've come to learn will be called "Karate Kid: Legends."

The much-anticipated entry into the Miyagi-verse will unite the original karate kid himself, Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio), with another familiar face from the franchise: martial arts icon Jackie Chan, who memorably portrayed Mr. Han in the 2010 Jaden Smith-led reboot.

And though neither Macchio nor Chan was on hand to promote the film during last week's Sony panel at New York Comic Con, the studio did give attendees an early peek at the trailer for the film, which is set to hit theaters in the United States and Canada on May 30, 2025. (Though it was originally set to debut in June 2024, "Legends" was delayed due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and to avoid any conflicts with the final season of "Cobra Kai.") 

Sadly, the trailer has not been made public yet — as of press time, any clips you find on YouTube are convincing blends of scenes from "Cobra Kai" and the 2010 "Karate Kid" film — but live dispatches from NYCC gave details about what fans can expect from the video. According to Deadline, the brief clip gives off O.G. "Karate Kid" vibes, showing Chan's Mr. Han as he visits Daniel LaRusso at Miyagi-Do to recruit a young student: Li Fong, played by newcomer Ben Wang ("American Born Chinese").

The trailer includes a quick tribute to Daniel's own beloved karate instructor, Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) — whose complicated legacy Daniel will continue to struggle with in the second installment of "Cobra Kai" season 6 — as well as first looks at Li Fong encountering everything from subway bullies to love interests (played by Sadie Stanley). And as with the 1984 original "Karate Kid" film, Wang's character will also be put to the test through both rigorous training as well as his first karate competition. 

While the public will still have to wait to check out the trailer for themselves, Sony also unveiled the official movie for "Karate Kid: Legends," which sees both the old guard of Macchio and Chan welcoming Wang as a new star of the franchise. Joining that leading trio in the film's cast are Joshua Jackson ("Doctor Odyssey"), Shaunette Renée Wilson ("Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"), Ming-Na Wen ("Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.") and Aramis Knight ("Ms. Marvel").

"I tried to play truth in 1983 when I originated this character, and still always, throughout 'Cobra Kai' and then the new film, it's about being honest and truthful to the character and what would motivate any of his actions."

Part two of "Cobra Kai" season 6 will continue the decades-long storyline of student-turned-sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who will be leading his Miyagi-Do pupils alongside Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) to hopeful victory in the infamously intense Sekai Taikai karate tournament.

But though the sixth season will be the final one for the hit Netflix series — the final edition is being released in three parts, with the first five having arrived this past July, the second batch dropping on November 28 and the final five eps to follow in 2025 — it won't be the end of Daniel's onscreen journey, with an upcoming "The Karate Kid" film also set to premiere next year.

Ralph Macchio recently sat down with Lee Cowan for a CBS News interview, in which the actor discussed how it feels to be reprising his most famous role on the big screen forty years after the martial arts classic "The Karate Kid" debuted in 1984.

"Unique, really unique. I don't know how many other experiences there are like that, of an entity, of a piece of pp culture that comes back 40 years later at this level," Macchio shared.

"For me, it's never gone away, that's the difference. For me, it never disappeared, and it never disappeared from pop culture, whether it's an SNL sketch, whether it's 'How I Met Your Mother' or, you know, 'The Simpsons,' it's always lived in pop culture."

The karate dramedy "Cobra Kai" famously spun off of "The Karate Kid" legacy when it premiered first as a YouTube Red series in 2018 and then was acquired by Netflix for seasons 3 through 6.

"It just keeps going," Macchio says of the ever-expanding "The Karate Kid" universe, which could continue with even more spin-offs. "We'll see what happens with other chapters with 'Cobra Kai' to spin that off, we have so many great young characters to explore."

According to Macchio, there's also a "The Karate Kid" Broadway musical in the works: "Robert Cayman is who wrote the original screenplay has written the book for the musical, it's in workshop phase now."

And the upcoming 2025 film, which will pair up Macchio with Jackie Chan, will continue the LaRusso legacy. "It's really quite extraordinary. I'm feeling a little Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' vein — he could be on 'The Mandalorian' and 'Rogue One.' And so, it's not something I take lightly and certainly not something I'm taking for granted. It's really, you know, a great privilege and I'm grateful to have it," the actor added.

For much of "Cobra Kai" season 6, sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and the students of Miyagi-Do have been preparing for the Sekai Taikai, a prestigious international karate competition happening in Barcelona, Spain. 

At the end of season 6 part 1 — the sixth season of the Netflix series is being released in three parts, with the first five having arrived this past July, the second batch dropping on November 28 and the final five eps to follow in 2025 — we learned which six young dojo fighters would be representing Miyagi-Do in the competition and, shockingly, which one wouldn't. (No spoilers here, though!) 

And according to "Cobra Kai" showrunner Jon Hurwitz, the Sekai Taikai will be just as tough as the show has been teasing all season.

In August, Hurwitz took to Twitter to host a social media Q&A with fans, allowing them to ask questions and get insights into season 6 of "Cobra Kai." In response to one viewer's query, "Have Sekai Taikai contestants really died in the past, or was [Mike] Barnes just trying to scare the kids?" Hurwitz coyly replied: "I take Mike Barnes for his word."

"Everyone I know who has participated in this has horror stories. This thing is intense, unpredictable," Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) — an O.G. "Karate Kid" villain who returned this season to train Daniel and Johnny's students — had previously warned the Miyagi-Do crew in part 1. "I will do what the Sekai Taikai will do. I will surprise you with events. I will push you to your limits." 

Hurwitz expanded on the tournament in a July 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying: "Going into Part 2, we’re in Barcelona at the Sekai Taikai and we have the biggest, craziest martial arts tournament that has existed in 'The Karate Kid' franchise. You’re not going to see just the same traditional events that you’ve seen at all the All Valleys. There’s a lot more going on, both on and off the mat."

Given Hurwitz's assurances, it seems like Sekai Taikai will be seriously brutal for the Miyagi-Do kids. And it will also test the sensei as well, as Daniel referred to the championship as his "karate swan song" and made some concerning discoveries about his own instructor, Mr. Miyagi, and his own ties to the Sekai Taikai. (But again, no spoilers here!)

Mr. Miyagi's teachings have clearly influenced his old student Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) in the decades since "The Karate Kid" franchise, with the pupil carrying over his lessons to a new generation of dojo fighters in the Netflix spin-off "Cobra Kai". And though the karate instructor himself doesn't appear in the series — the actor Pat Morita passed away in 2011 — his impact will continue to affect Daniel in the upcoming second part of "Cobra Kai" season 6, which is set to hit the streamer on Thursday, November 28.

As you might remember from part 1, Daniel unearths a hidden box of Mr. Miyagi's possessions, which holds some shocking secrets about his beloved karate master, including a name change and a violent criminal past. And those discoveries will very much affect Daniel and how he approaches being a sensei himself in the second part of the season, as he attempts to lead the Miyagi-Do students to victory at the international Sekai Taikai tournament in Barcelona.

In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping, Macchio dug into the "hurt and pain" that Daniel will be experiencing in the final chapters of "Cobra Kai" as a result of his recent discoveries. 

"For Daniel, when we discover and introduce this box of Miyagi's secrets, clues of a life that may have not added up to him ... that's a big part of the arc," he told the outlet. 

"Daniel winds up wondering and not understanding why he wasn't told of things, and the hurt and pain of that. But also, the deeper he tries to unearth it, the more tangents he goes off on and potentially loses his focus on his students and his family."

And that disappointment will have major ramifications on his own personal relationships and teaching philosophy in the coming episodes: "Daniel's dynamic with Johnny and all of the students really comes to this pinnacle in the final chapter," Macchio added. 

"There's that evolution and growth going forward. He needs to fight some real kicks in the gut, and find a place within his heart and soul to get through it." By the end of the season — and the series — "things will eventually make sense as to why [Mr. Miyagi] motivates Daniel in this specific story, and I'm looking forward to that," the actor shared.

Given that it's a spin-off of the martial arts classic "The Karate Kid," it's not a surprise that Netflix's "Cobra Kai" has reintroduced several notable characters from that film franchise, from main players like Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) to big bads like John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). 

And though "Cobra Kai" season 6 has seen even more familiar faces, such as Sean Kanan's Mike Barnes from "The Karate Kid Part III," one member of the "Karate Kid" universe has been notably missing from the series: the bully Dutch, played by Chad McQueen, son of the legendary Steve McQueen. 

But it wasn't for lack of trying, "Cobra Kai" co-creator Jon Hurwitz recently revealed on social media. 

McQueen — who appeared in the original "Karate Kid" movie as Dutch, a student of the Cobra Kai Dojo and a member of Johnny Lawrence's gang — sadly passed away from organ failure at his California ranch on September 11, 2024, at the age of 63. While tributing the late actor, Hurwitz also gave some insight into why exactly McQueen and his character Dutch never popped up in the "Cobra Kai" series.

“We always wanted Chad McQueen to appear on the show. And it almost happened a couple of times," Hurwitz revealed in a Twitter post. 

However, he shared that McQueen, who was a race car driver as well as an actor and martial artist, never fully recovered from near-fatal injuries sustained on the speedway. "Chad was torn. His racing injuries limited his capabilities, but he loved the idea of playing again with his pal, @william_zabka. They had so much fun together while making Karate Kid," Hurwitz wrote. 

After hearing that McQueen was interested in appearing on "Cobra Kai," Hurwitz went to visit him: "I drove out to his ranch to meet him in person for the very first time. He and his family greeted us warmly. He was as unique and hilarious as we’d heard from Billy all these years." 

“We left Chad’s place excited and determined to make Dutch’s return special,” he recalled. “And yes, we dropped his name in episode 602 partly to keep him fresh in the audience’s mind. We wrote a scene for him much later in the season. Dutch was still badass. The scene had pathos. It would have blown young Jon, Josh, and Hayden’s minds.”

However, that cameo simply "wasn't meant to be," Hurwitz wrote. “But Dutch will always be remembered as a badass in the Miyagiverse. He kicked ass," adding that the character "may have been the purest Cobra of them all ... and it was all because of Chad McQueen’s performance."

• "Emily in Paris" season 5: Everything we know so far

All good things must come to an end. We will soon say goodbye to "Cobra Kai" now that its sixth and final season has debuted. This season is packed with 15 episodes: the first five dropped last month, the next five on November 15, and the final five in 2025. So, while we have plenty to expect from "Cobra Kai" season 6, it will be bittersweet to see this incredible show conclude.

Many fans will say that the Netflix series has plenty of rewatch value. While that's true, we wanted to share other shows like "Cobra Kai" that can fill the space it will leave in your heart. Some of these options will appeal to those of you who are mainly attracted to karate or confronting unwanted bullies in your life. Others are ideal if you are all about nostalgia.

'Ted Lasso'

If you watched "Cobra Kai" for its healthy dose of athletics and its always-appreciated underdog story, then you'll love "Ted Lasso." Jason Sudeikis stars as the title character, an American football coach who is asked to coach AFC Richmond, an English soccer team. The thing is, Ted knows absolutely nothing about soccer (or football, to those across the pond). 

There is so much to love about this series, and it's a perfect follow-up to "Cobra Kai." The series shows a lot of heart while offering the perfect blend of American and British humor, which is no small feat. You will surely be wonderfully surprised once you start watching it. Unsurprisingly, this show won 13 Primetime Emmys, including one for Sudeikis for his lead role.

'Warrior'

If you're into the martial arts angle of "Cobra Kai," you may want to turn your attention to "Warrior." It's based on the writings of Bruce Lee, and his daughter, Shannon Lee, is an executive producer. The series takes us back to the late 1800s, focusing on martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm, who has just arrived in San Francisco, all the way from China. He ends up working for a local crime organization as one of their enforcers. 

The creators of this series really captured the essence of 19th-century San Francisco. It almost has a "Gangs of New York" vibe to it, especially with its gang fights, politics, and romances entwined into the plot line. This show won three Primetime Emmys and should be at the top of your list if you want to keep the martial arts vibe alive.

'Friday Night Lights'

"Friday Night Lights" is one of those memorable shows that so many of us have found many years after its conclusion. It lasted for five seasons and was an adaptation of the 2004 film, which was inspired by the 1990 book of the same name. Kyle Chandler stars as Eric Taylor, who has become the head football coach for the Dillon High School Panthers. The series focuses on the trials and tribulations of a football team that means everything to its town.

It's a perfect follow-up to "Cobra Kai," as both show people overcoming insurmountable odds and facing competition. You won't get the comic relief like you do with "Cobra Kai," though, as this is much more dramatic and intense. However, if you haven't seen this series yet, you'll be glad you watched it.

'On My Block'

While "On My Block" doesn't have the sports elements or nostalgic vibe of "Cobra Kai," it's a fantastic coming-of-age series with a familiar charm. It focuses on four teens residing in South Central Los Angeles who are navigating the difficulties of high school life. The show has storylines that focus on family drama, gang life, problems fitting in, and so many other familiar themes we all struggle with while we grow up.

This show received a lot of critical acclaim, but not much in the way of buzz. Still, you're sure to enjoy it, especially if you give it a chance beyond the first few episodes. There are even moments of humor throughout, although admittedly, sometimes the jokes can fall flat. Still, it's a show that is underrated and a hidden gem on Netflix.

'Marvel’s Runaways'

If you're in the mood for a superhero twist on the coming-of-age storyline you find with the younger characters in "Cobra Kai," you may want to check out "Marvel's Runaways." Based on the comic books, the show follows six teenagers in the Marvel Universe who have just discovered their parents belong to a villainous group called The Pride. Discovering powers and abilities of their own, the teens use this to try to stop them.

In addition to its superhero elements, it also does a good job of depicting complex family relationships and the typical issues of growing up and finding yourself. You may notice some flaws in the pacing and that it diverges somewhat from the original comic book series. Despite that, it's still a fun show to watch.

'Stranger Things'

If you love the '80s nostalgia sprinkled throughout "Cobra Kai," then you may consider watching (or re-watching) "Stranger Things." This series has been a massive hit, and even though it's in the middle of a three-year hiatus, a final season is set for 2025.

"Stranger Things" revolves around the people living in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, who are disturbed by an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. It kicks off with a young boy named Will Byers getting kidnapped by a creature from the Upside Down, and his friends, along with a kinetic girl named Eleven, come together to find him. There is so much to love about this series, including its inclusion of the incredible music and culture of the '80s.

'Into the Badlands'

Another series with a healthy dose of martial arts like "Cobra Kai" is "Into the Badlands." However, other than that, there are some major differences in this show that set it apart. It takes us 500 years into the future when the world is in ruins. The Badlands refer to sections of the United States where a group of people called Barons control the land and fight to protect it through their army, known as Clippers. Sunny (Daniel Wu), the Head Clipper for Quinn (Marton Csokas), meets M.K., a mysterious young man that he takes back with him to train. However, meeting him makes Sunny curious about the world outside of the Badlands.

Because firearms are banned, the main methods of fighting are martial arts, handheld weapons, and crossbows. There is plenty of action, and the blend of science fiction and martial arts makes it unique.

The first installment of "Cobra Kai" season 6 has officially dropped on Netflix as of today (July 18) — the supersized 15-episode season will be released in three parts, with part 2 arriving on November 28 and the final five episodes to come on a to-be-announced date in 2025 — and it has left fans on a doozy of a cliffhanger. 

The sixth and final season of the martial arts dramedy sees Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and their Miyagi-Do students preparing for the big Sekai Taikai tournament, an international karate competition where the world's best of the best would descend on Barcelona to prove their dojo is the mightiest. 

And in episode 5, we got to get our first glimpse of the Sekai Taikai championship, as well as the fighters who will be competing, including a very surprising addition to the Cobra Kai team. Here's how everything went down but be warned: spoilers are very much ahead!

Who ends up being the captains for Sekai Taikai?

The Sekai Taikai organizers needed the dojos' final roster ahead of the competition, which meant that the Miyagi-Do crew had to decide which male and female fighters would serve as the team's captains. The contenders include Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) and Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) for the male slot, and Tory Nichols (Peyton List) and Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser) for the female position. 

"The captains aren't just the ones leading the team," Daniel explains to the group. "They're the ones who will be fighting in the finals, if we can make it that far." 

That pressure prompts some extra instruction from Johnny, who makes the foursome watch Eric Roberts movies and shoots beer bottles at them to check their balance. 

During a head-to-head fight between each pair, Robby comes out victorious over Miguel and ends up the male captain for Miyagi-Do. Sam becomes the female captain by default after Tory quits the dojo. (More on that in a bit!)

What causes that blow-up between Johnny and Daniel?

All throughout the first five episodes of season 6, Johnny and Daniel butt heads over their teaching styles for the Miyagi-Do students. Daniel is especially upset that Johnny is "shoehorning his old macho crap into the lessons" and Johnny is angry when he discovers that Daniel is individually training Miguel and Sam behind his back. 

The long-simmering tension between the two sensei boils over at the captain comp, with Johnny taking Tory's side (again, more on that in a minute) but the LaRussos choosing to cut short her fight against Sam. To fight with anger is not the Miyagi-Do way, Daniel tells him, but Johnny says he's sick of hearing about Miyagi, calling the old sensei a liar and a thief. That prompts a punch in the face from Daniel, and Johnny declares that once Sekai Taikai is over, he and Daniel are done "for good." 

What does Daniel learn about Miyagi-san?

Earlier in the season, Daniel and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) discover a long-hidden box under some floorboards in Miyagi-Do. Seemingly left behind by their old sensei, the box includes such puzzling finds as a passport with a different name and newspaper clippings detailing a robbery and assault that Miyagi committed when he was young. 

Daniel spends much of season 6 grappling with the idea that the man he thought he knew, the man whose teachings he has continued through his own work at Miyagi-Do all these years, is different than the man he's learning about via the secret box. And after receiving the official headbands for the Sekai Taikai competition at the end of episode five, Daniel realizes another surprising detail about Mr. Migayi's past: he, too, once competed at Sekai Taikai. 

Why does Tory decide to team up with Kreese?

And now for the big cliffhanger of part 1. After leaving a meeting with her mother's doctor, Tory gets a shock when she encounters Kreese in the parking lot. Wanting to poach her for Cobra Kai, he tells her: "I never thought I'd see the day when the Queen Cobra would join the enemy ... when push comes to shove, they'll always find a reason to keep you second fiddle to LaRusso's kid." 

She doesn't take the bait, though: "I am a champion, but I'm not yours."

However, things change for Tory when her mother tragically dies from a pulmonary embolism in episode 5. Tory grieves in secret for much of the episode, until it comes time for her captain face-off against Sam. Tory clearly is tapping into her anguish to fuel the fight, but the match-up gets paused when Amanda gets a call alerting her about Tory's loss. 

Daniel calls for the fight to end out of respect, but Tory is adamant she be allowed to continue: "My mom would have wanted this ... I have to do this for her!" Despite Johnny's support, Tory is not allowed to continue. Upset with the decision, she quits Miyagi-Do.

We don't see Tory again until the final moments of episode five when she shows up at Sekai Taikai — but not as a member of Daniel and Johnny's team. No, she has seemingly taken Kreese up on his offer and is now fighting as part of Team Cobra Kai.

Though the older actors, who launched the original "Karate Kid" franchise on which "Cobra Kai" is based back in 1984, are used to portraying their characters across many years, it was a new experience for Maridueña, who recently discussed with Forbes how both he and his character Miguel have transformed since the martial-arts dramedy first premiered back in 2018.

"Miguel has changed tenfold," the actor told the publication. "Since the first time we met him, there's a level of confidence and surety I think that Miguel is able to find after getting to go on this excursion to figure out his family roots. For me, that was really a big turning point." 

In "Cobra Kai" season 5, Miguel traveled to Mexico looking for his biological father, Hector Salazar, but reunited with Johnny when he realized that Hector was a dangerous criminal. 

Playing Miguel across seven years has also affected the actor himself, who was only 16 when he landed the role. "I think now as a 23-year-old, I'm able to bring things, experiences, emotions to a 17-year-old Miguel that maybe if I was 17 I wouldn't be able to," Maridueña shared.

"Getting to really find who this character is and live in these shoes for seven years has been one of the most comforting and warm experiences of my life," he continued. "I think it has prepared me to lead with my heart first and work as hard as I can to make sure that other people will feel comfortable on set as well."

Season 6 of the series will see Miguel have to deal with "normal kid" stuff like college acceptances (he's got his heart set on Stanford) and his romantic relationship with Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser), but also plenty of karate-related drama, as the Miyago-Do students are set to compete in the big Sekai Taikai tournament, an international karate competition featuring the finest fighters in the world. 

However, Maridueña believes that Diaz has what it takes to handle whatever is thrown at him in the upcoming season, telling Forbes: "Miguel is very wise, and getting to work through those hardships just like all of us are in our day-to-day life are really the character-building moments."

The Miyagi-verse is alive and well with "Cobra Kai," the hit Netflix series that serves as both a sequel and a spin-off of the popular "Karate Kid" franchise. 

The teachings of Mr. Miyagi — the sage sensei from the original 1984 film "The Karate Kid," played by Oscar-nominated actor Pat Morita — have permeated the previous five seasons of the martial arts dramedy and will no doubt continue going into the show's sixth and final season, which will be released in three parts beginning July 18. (The second installment will arrive on November 28, with the final five episodes to follow on a to-be-announced date in 2025.)

A mystery surrounding the late Miyagi-san is one of the main plot points of season 6 and will reportedly show his old protégé Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) a new side of the karate instructor. And the "Cobra Kai" creators have said that they're interested in showing even more sides of Mr. Miyagi in a potential prequel spin-off, per a recent interview with CinemaBlend.

"We discussed it. I don't think we would ever recast Miyagi if we are looking at the Pat Morita-aged Miyagi. You know, our minds, they run wild. We like to think about who Mr. Miyagi was a hundred years ago," series co-creator Josh Heald told the outlet. 

"Everybody knows the story that Miyagi tells in 'The Karate Kid: Part Two,' about his coming of age, and Sato. So it's not outside the realm (of) possibility that we would want to perhaps explore different eras of Mr. Miyagi at some point in this franchise, with a different performer."

As Morita passed away in 2005 at age 73, "Cobra Kai" has been very respectful of Morita's legacy within the franchise and not opted for any CGI or visual effects to represent young Miyagi in the series. 

"I think we personally bump on the idea of going back to a timeline that overlaps with when Daniel knew Miyagi, and do that with anybody other than Pat," Heald continued. "We've been very careful in the series so far to use the footage and to shoot — there was a scene where I shot Miyagi from behind when he first built the backyard. 

"But to turn around and (show) the face, it has to either be a different era, or it would have to be Pat. It would have to look like Pat. It would have to sound like Pat. It would be a bump, I think, for people to say, ‘Okay, this is 1986, and it's not quite what I remember.’"

The "Cobra Kai" creators previously revealed that they wanted to expand the Miyagi-verse with more spin-offs, so maybe a Miyagi-san prequel with another actor portraying a young Nariyoshi Miyagi will be coming to your screens in the near future.

A spin-off of the martial-arts classic "The Karate Kid," "Cobra Kai" features many memorable characters from that film franchise, including Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith). And in Cobra Kai' season 6, those familiar faces will be joined by another returning character from the Miyagi-verse: Mike Barnes. 

Played by Sean Kanan, Mike Barnes was a major antagonist and former henchman for Silver in the 1989 film "The Karate Kid Part III." Kanan reprised the role in the Netflix hit last year and will seemingly pop up again in season 6, which will debut its first five episodes on Thursday, July 18. 

(The season will be released in three parts, with the second installment to arrive on November 28 and the final five episodes to follow on a to-be-announced date in 2025.)

In an exclusive clip published by Entertainment Weekly, Barnes has reunited with senseis Daniel and Johnny to help select the students who will represent their dojo and fight at the prestigious Sekai Taikai tournament. "Everyone I know who has participated in this has horror stories. This thing is intense, unpredictable," Barnes can be seen warning the young students in the minute-long scene. "I will do what the Sekai Taikai will do. I will surprise you with events. I will push you to your limits."

When Daniel reminds Mike to "keep things positive," the karate bad boy had a reminder of his own in response: "You came to me. The deal was my way or the highway."

Kanan revealed to EW exactly how the season 6 cameo came about, saying, “Johnny and Daniel are both kind of at loggerheads about what to name the dojo, and who should represent it” at the upcoming karate competition. “Daniel comes up with the brainstorm that they need somebody who is ostensibly impartial. The big reveal is that Mike Barnes has been brought on” to make the team "selections," the actor added. 

However, though the students should be happy they're being trained by a national champion, “Barnes makes it very clear that this is going to be a baptism by fire for whoever is strong enough to make it through the tests that he sets up,” Kanan explained.  “He's got some out-of-the-box thinking.” Those karate kids have their work cut out for them!

And apparently, there's even more Miyagi-verse to come: "Cobra Kai" co-creators Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald previously revealed that they'd be open to even more spin-offs and side quests set in "The Karate Kid" world so who knows, maybe one day Mike Barnes can have his own show.

Though Mr. Miyagi, the soulful sensei from the original "Karate Kid" films, doesn't physically appear in "Cobra Kai" — actor Pat Morita passed away in 2005 — his influence is felt all over the Netflix martial arts series in the teachings he imparted to his students, including Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). 

However, in the recently dropped official trailer of "Cobra Kai" season 6, it seems like Daniel's old karate instructor will be making a metaphysical cameo in the upcoming episodes, which will be released in three parts for the show's grand finale, starting with the first five episodes on Thursday, July 18. 

In the trailer, you see Daniel and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) discover a box from their old instructor hidden below the floorboards of Miyagi Do. "Miyagi San buried secrets for a reason," Chozen says. "If we open, anything is possible."

"Cobra Kai" co-creator Hayden Schlossberg discussed the upcoming Miyagi mystery with ScreenRant: "We came at the Mr. Miyagi storyline in season 6 from a place of trying to understand the past, while not having all the answers, and it's very frustrating for Daniel to find out all these secrets about Mr. Miyagi that he had kept from Daniel, while not having all the answers at his disposal."

Daniel's realization that his mentor, "who he thought was the most perfect, ideal person of all time," actually had flaws will be a big conflict for the character in season 6, Schlossberg revealed. "And I think, for us, we were okay with that, because we always assumed that Mr. Miyagi was a human being, and that he wasn't necessarily born a sage, he wasn't born as somebody who had all the answers."

In a recent interview with Collider, Macchio discussed Miyagi's influence on his character and how that will affect Daniel's personal arc going into "Cobra Kai" season 6. "[Daniel is] always referencing Miyagi and the greatness of Miyagi, and all this through his students and even his friends. Early on in the series, there were these scenes I really embraced and enjoyed with Tanner [Buchanan], Robby, when I was taking Miyagi’s teaching and doing this sort of LaRusso, Jersey spin on them, whether it was the Bonsai trees or training, and I really enjoyed finding Daniel's way of channeling the Miyagi-isms and the references."

"But there are times he dives so deep into that legacy that it's a struggle to differentiate, as you say, his own beliefs, and I think this season opens up that can of worms where he is second-guessing things about his mentor that he can never really find the truth about and has to come to grips with that all personally," Macchio added. "It's a big arc this season, and heading into Part 2 and certainly resolving in Part 3. I'm excited for the fans to see that."

The Netflix series "Cobra Kai" is already, famously, a spinoff of the original "The Karate Kid" films created by Robert Mark Kamen. But though the martial arts hit is coming to a close with a supersized sixth and final season — which will be released in three parts, starting with the first five episodes on Thursday, July 18 — that doesn't mean the Miyagi-verse is ending anytime soon, not if the "Cobra Kai" creators have their way.

In a recent roundtable interview with ScreenRant,  Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald —
who co-created "The Karate Kid" sequel series with Hayden Schlossberg — discussed the possibility of spin-off shows following the "Cobra Kai" grand finale. 

(Though part two will drop on November 28, the final five episodes of the dramedy will come in 2025, but a set premiere date hasn't been announced just yet.) 

"What we can say is that we have significant interest in doing more things in this universe. We have multiple ideas of the things that we would like to do," Hurwitz told the outlet. "It's really just sort of taking the time. We've been so busy with this season that we haven't had those meetings with Sony and Netflix, where we're like, 'Okay, here's the overall gameplan of what we would like to do going forward.' ...

"But, we think that by the end of this season 6, people will still have interest in where these characters can go, and that there will be fun to be had in, hopefully, different kinds of ways."

As for planning ahead with the numerous storylines and characters of "Cobra Kai," Heald told the outlet that the team has "a very deliberate approach to how we steer these characters, how we leave cliffhangers hanging from season to season, from episode to episode."

"We've been very careful and specific about how we are leaving this universe when the credits roll on that final episode," Heald added. "There should be a feeling throughout the fandom of satisfaction, and also, you should be a little hungry for what comes next, what might come next. But it should also work on both levels, if it never came next, that should be satisfying, like the end of The Karate Kid."

 "So, we always leave food on the vine, we have a gazillion ideas of where this series and this franchise goes," he continued. "But that's up to the timing and the network studio partners in terms of how heavy and how fast and how soon we lean into all of that. But, there are some things percolating, and then there's about six or seven other ideas that we have to really pour gasoline on it, and that becomes a discussion."

We're nearing the end, "Cobra Kai" fans: yes, that means the end of waiting for new episodes to debut — the martial arts-focused Netflix hit is set to return to the streamer on Thursday, July 18 — but also the end of the series itself. We'll say goodbye to Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and the rest of the dojo fighters with a supersized sixth and final season, which will be released in three parts encompassing five episodes each. 

And "Cobra Kai" viewers can now get a sneak peek at the first part of that farewell, thanks to an official new trailer that Netflix just dropped on Monday, July 1. 

"We've been through a lot to get to this point, but now we're finally on the same page," says Macchio's Daniel at the beginning of the two-minute clip. "We may have settled things in the Valley, but now we have to be ready for whatever the world throws at us."

And that means the Sekai Taikai, aka the world championships of karate, where the students will be fighting "the best in the world," their sensei warn them. And to prep the karate kids, it looks like Johnny will be using some rather unorthodox training methods, like shooting beer bottles at them to test their speed and balance, much to the chagrin of Daniel. "Our strength is we teach both styles equally. Don't jeopardize that balance, man," he reminds his former rival.

The trailer also gives longtime Miyagi-verse fans updates on two original characters from "The Karate Kid" movie franchise. First, we see the return of John Kreese (Martin Kove), who is now the sensei of a rival dojo. Last we saw the antagonist at the end of "Cobra Kai" season 5, he had cleverly faked his own death using some melted Jell-O and busted out of prison wearing doctor's clothing and a stolen security badge from his social worker. "Only through pain does a champion reveal itself," Kreese tells his students in the trailer, so it's clear he's ready to leave it all out on the dojo mat. 

The new clip also sees a cameo from a surprising source: Mr. Miyagi (played by Pat Morita in the original "Karate Kid" movies). OK, sure, the fictional sensei and the actor who played him are both long gone now, but Daniel and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) discover a box from their old instructor hidden below the floorboards of Miyagi Do. "Miyagi San buried secrets for a reason," Chozen says. "If we open, anything is possible."

One of the biggest Netflix shows, "Cobra Kai" will bow out with the first part of season 6 on July 18. The second part will follow on November 28, with the final five installments hitting the streaming platform on a to-be-announced date in 2025. It will be the first-ever three-part season for any Netflix series.

One of the biggest Netflix shows, the martial arts-focused "Cobra Kai," is set to return to the streamer on Thursday, July 18 with its supersized sixth and final season, which will be released in three parts for one great, grand finale. 

But it's not the only karate-related news as of late: not only did the original 1984 "Karate Kid" — of which "Cobra Kai" is a spinoff — recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, but star Ralph Macchio gave fans an update on the new "Karate Kid" movie, which will see Macchio reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso on the big screen. (He will be joined by Jackie Chan, who will also reprise a previous role, as Mr. Han from the 2010 "Karate Kid" remake with Jaden Smith.)

This past Saturday, Macchio posted on social media acknowledging both the big anniversary as well as announcing that he has officially wrapped not only on "Cobra Kai" but also the new "Karate Kid" film. 

Alongside a photo of the actor as his character Daniel LaRusso — taken by co-star Xolo Maridueña, who plays Miguel Diaz in the Netflix series — Macchio posted: "On this day, June 22, 1984, the world met Daniel LaRusso. Happy 40th Anniversary to The Karate Kid. Looking ahead to one of the most exciting years yet! Just wrapped @CobraKaiSeries and the new @KarateKidMovie. Epic stuff on the way!"

Set to be released theatrically by Sony Pictures on May 30, 2025, in the United States and Canada, the upcoming "Karate Kid" will be a sequel to the 2010 film and will also feature newcomer Ben Wang as a main lead named Li Fong. Actors Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight and Wyatt Oleff have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

According to Production List, the film synopsis reads: "Li is a skilled fighter and a student in Beijing who has his life uprooted when his mom decides that they're moving to Brooklyn for a work opportunity. Li is grappling with a past tragedy and bumping up against his doctor mother, who is dealing with the same tragedy but in an altogether different manner. While his mom is against violence and Kung Fu, Li finds purpose by training Victor in the art and finds himself back in the ring as well."

The film was originally set to be released on June 7, 2024, but was delayed to December 13 of this year due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. The release date was rescheduled yet again to May 30 of next year, so that it wouldn't conflict with the final season of "Cobra Kai." (After the first batch of episodes drop this July, the second part will hit Netflix on November 28, 2024, with the final eps to come on a not-yet-announced date in 2025.)

When "Cobra Kai" season 6 returns to Netflix in all of its martial arts mayhem, fans can safely assume that we'll be seeing familiar faces like Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), John Kreese (Martin Kove), Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser), Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) and more.

But fans might be wondering if recurring character Raymond "Stingray" Porter (played by Paul Walter Hauser) will be back in the dojo for the new episodes. (Speaking of, season six will arrive in three parts: the first five installments of season 6 will hit the streamer on Thursday, July 18, with five more episodes to follow on Thursday, November 28 and the final five on a still-to-be-announced date in 2025.)

Spoiler alert! Last "Cobra Kai" viewers saw of him, Stingray had finally admitted the truth about his near-fatal assault to the authorities and exposed the corruption of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), leading to the latter's arrest. (Meanwhile, Kreese, who had been falsely named as Raymond's assailant, escaped from prison by faking his death, courtesy of some melted red Jell-O and a stolen key card.)

Hauser has recently had a pretty full plate acting-wise — along with voicing the character of Embarrassment in "Inside Out 2," the actor will next be seen in the Apple TV Plus heist thriller "The Instigators" opposite Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, the upcoming "Naked Gun" reboot with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson and "Press Your Luck," a drama centered on the 1984 Michael Larson cheating scandal — so much so that "Cobra Kai" fans have questioned whether his character would be showing up in season 6. 

Luckily for them, the Emmy-winning actor recently confirmed his participation in the upcoming season, telling TV Insider: "As far as the final season goes, you will definitely see Stingray appear. I won’t say when or how, but you will get a farewell for Stingray."

Hauser also shared with the outlet his reflections on being "part of The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai lore" and playing the character of Stingray, who was introduced on the martial arts comedy-drama back in season two. 

"When I was first offered that show, I was told it was a Karate Kid reboot on YouTube. That pitch was like, 'Do I want to do this?' Then I watched the first three episodes and was hooked. I was in love with the show very quickly," Hauser revealed. "There were a couple of people in my camp who said I didn’t have to do this if I didn’t want to because it was silly. I told them I thought it wasn’t silly. The people behind it were taking it very seriously and elevated it in a way that is kind of surprising. I did it and it paid off hugely."

 "To be part of The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai lore does mean a lot to me," he added.

Good news for "Cobra Kai" fans: Season 6 is soon to come, with new episodes featuring Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and the rest of the dojo members set to premiere on Netflix on Thursday, July 18. But that announcement came with a less-than-good development for diehard viewers, as the sixth and final season of the "Karate Kid" spinoff series would be released in not one, not two but three separate parts. 

After the first five episodes air this July, the second batch (i.e. episodes 6 through 10) will hit the streaming platform on Thursday, November 28. The final five episodes will premiere in 2025, but the exact date has not been announced yet, so fans still don't know when they'll be able to see all of those narrative arcs wrapped and cliffhangers cleared up (like — spoiler alert! — Martin Kove's John Kreese faking his death and escaping from prison at the end of season 5). 

But though that long wait for the "Cobra Kai" finale might have some fans concerned, the show's co-creator and co-showrunner Jon Hurwitz recently took to social media to ease those worries. Taking to X, Hurwitz responded directly to a fan who was worried about stumbling upon spoilers if they waited to watch all of the sixth season in one go. 

"My advice is to stop thinking of Season 6 as one final season and instead view it as 3 distinct mini seasons. Each batch was written knowing the release plan, so the experience was designed to be enjoyed in 5 episode chunks," he wrote. "Waiting for all 15 episodes to come out will not enhance your viewing experience."

And Hurwitz also shed some light on the decision-making behind the three-part season release rather than dropping all 15 episodes in one fell swoop: "Post production takes time. Just because we finished filming, doesn’t mean all the episodes will be ready for worldwide consumption by fall. And like I said, they were designed to be enjoyed in 5 episode batches."

The showrunner also had some advice for "Cobra Kai" fans ahead of the season 6 drop: "I’d recommend starting a rewatch now, so everything is fresh in your head when new episodes come out!" (You would have 50 whole episodes of television to get through, so better get cracking!)

Along with Macchio and Zabka, the season 6 cast will include Martin Kove, Xolo Maridueña, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Peyton List, Gianni DeCenzo, Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, Dallas Dupree Young, Yuji Okumoto, Alicia Hannah-Kim, Griffin Santopietro, and Oona O'Brien. And according to Netflix, the upcoming episodes will pick up "with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley," during which both the "senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate."

Sad news, dojo diehards: “Cobra Kai” came to an end with its sixth and final season, which tied up storylines that stretch back all the way to the original 1984 "The Karate Kid" movie.

But, thankfully for fans, it bowed out with a blockbuster three-part finale, giving plenty of time for viewers to say goodbye to beloved characters like former-rivals-turned-friends Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka).

In May 2018, the first season of “Cobra Kai” picked up with Daniel and Johnny into their middle age, nearly three decades after they first went head-to-head at the All Valley Karate Tournament as teens. The former was now a successful and happily married businessman still reeling from the loss of his late sensei, Mr. Miyagi. Johnny, however, was a down-and-out part-time handyman, trying to rehabilitate his life by reopening the Cobra Kai dojo. Daniel reopening his own Miyagi-Do dojo reignited the long-standing feud between himself and Johnny, a rivalry that extended to the story arcs of their respective students.

Across six seasons, “Cobra Kai” saw the return of fellow familiar faces from “The Karate Kid” universe — including Cobra Kai founder and Johnny's old sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove), and Daniel’s former rivals like Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) and Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) — as well as many new characters, including Johnny’s young neighbor Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) and Daniel’s children Samantha (Mary Mouser) and Anthony (Griffin Santopietro).

The final season of one of Netflix’s best original series wrapped up the stories of both Johnny and Daniel and the rest of the Miyagi-do and Cobra Kai crews, but certainly not without some surprises along the way. Here's everything to know about "Cobra Kai" season 6. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)

'Cobra Kai' season 6 release date

The supersized sixth season of "Cobra Kai" was the series' first to be split into multiple parts, with five-batch episodes being released in three parts over the past year: the first installments arrived on Netflix on July 18, 2024, the second batch followed on November 15, 2024, and the final five eps finished things off on February 13, 2025.

Yes, though “Cobra Kai” has sadly ended, at least the big finale event gave fans more episodes than ever before to say goodbye. Unlike previous editions of the show, which all featured 10 episodes, the supersized sixth season had 15 installments total, released in batches of five.

And there’s even more dojo fun on the way: the new “Karate Kid” movie will hit theaters on May 30, 2025. (The movie's release date was moved in order not to conflict with "Cobra Kai".) The upcoming film will see Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, alongside Jackie Chan reprising his Mr. Han role from the 2010 "Karate Kid" remake, with newcomer Ben Wang as their young trainee.

Are there 'Cobra Kai' season 6 trailers?

Netflix released individual teaser trailers for each of the three parts of "Cobra Kai" season 6. The first trailer debuted on July 1, 2024, and quickly got viewers reacquainted with all of the dojo drama leading up to the big international Sekai Taikai tournament.

The official trailer for "Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2 was released on October 23, 2024, and finally saw Team Miyagi-Do face new competitors and old enemies as they finally touched base in Barcelona for the Sekai Taikai.

And on February 3, 2025, Netflix debuted the final teaser clip for the show, teasing how things would wrap up for our Miyagi-Do senseis and their students. "On Feb 13, the greatest karate saga comes to an end," the trailer promised. "But Cobra Kai never dies!"

Who is in the 'Cobra Kai' season 6 cast?

All of the major cast members returned for "Cobra Kai" season 6, led by William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence and Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso. Also returning were Martin Kove as John Kreese, the former owner of Cobra Kai and Johnny's abusive mentor; Thomas Ian Griffith, the baddie who is now the manager of the Iron Dragons dojo; as well as Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, the sensei of Miyagi-do in Okinawa.

Fans also saw members of Johnny and Daniel's families back in the mix, including Courtney Henggeler as Daniel’s wife Amanda (Daniel's wife); Vanessa Rubio as Johnny’s girlfriend Carmen Diaz; Mary Mouser and Griffin Santopietro as Daniel’s children Samantha and Anthony; Tanner Buchanan as Johnny’s son Robby Keene; and Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz.

Several of the dojos’ students and karate enthusiasts were also accounted for, including Peyton List as Tory Nichols, Jacob Bertrand as Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz, Gianni Decenzo as Demetri Alexopoulos, Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny Payne and Oona O'Brien as Devon Lee.

What happened in 'Cobra Kai' season 6 part 3?

Despite season 6 part 2 leaving us all on a major cliffhanger, the last five episodes ended in resolution, as co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg promised TV Insider. "There is no big cliffhanger at the end of the last five episodes.” He further added, “This is where all the questions get answered. All the characters reach their full arcs. All the mysteries get solved.”

We saw reconciliations between Tory and Samantha, the resolution of Daniel's Mr. Miyagi-related troubles, and a truly explosive ending to the series-long antagonism from Kreese and Silver. We saw a full-circle happy ending for Johnny Lawrence, from his marriage to Carmen, the birth of his daughter Laura (named after his mother), the return of his version of the Cobra Kai dojo as well as his triumphant victory over Sensei Wolf (Lewis Tan) in the champion-making final round of the Sekai Taikai.

Schlossberg continued: "It was very fulfilling to tie things up and reach points that we’ve talked about for years. So it gave us goosebumps just talking about it and writing it and making it. And so now, finally, people are gonna get to see it with a full orchestra designed to really hit you hard.”

Between the expanded final season, as well as the upcoming “Karate Kid” movie, it’s clear the “Cobra Kai” creators are giving fans a proper goodbye to not only the Netflix series but the entire “Karate Kid” media franchise. "We wanted to go out on our own terms," co-creator Josh Heald told The Hollywood Reporter. “We grew up with the 'Karate Kid' franchise, and we have so much respect for the universe. We wanted to expand the universe in all the ways we have. Between seasons five and six, we approached Netflix and said, 'We're ready to bring this in for a landing.' We told them the story that we wanted to tell, and they supported the decision."

Cobra Kai never dies ... at least in spirit. But the hit Netflix series will come to an end after Cobra Kai season 6. 

Creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg announced the news in an open letter to fans. 

"Our Day 1 goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined," they wrote. 

"While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger… We hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line because as we all know: Cobra Kai never dies."

That all but confirms more spinoffs set within the Karate Kid universe is forthcoming. As Schlossberg previously told TVLine, "Every permutation of spinoff or deep-dive crosses our minds. It all has to be the right thing, and it has to be the same level of quality that Cobra Kai is."

Cobra Kai has been a huge hit for Netflix since it moved from YouTube Red to Netflix in August 2020. The show follows former teen enemies Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) a few decades after their infamous martial arts battle in the first Karate Kid movie.

Older, though not necessarily wiser, their rivalry is revived when Johnny re-opens his old Cobra Kai dojo to teach a new generation of students. Daniel restarts Miyagi-do in response, and their pupils clashed on the mat and at school.

Over the course of several seasons, their longtime feud gradually turns into a quasi-friendship as they face more sadistic villains: Johnny's old sensei John Kreese and the business mogul Terry Silver.

In season 6, they will team up once again to tackle a new challenge: the international competition Sekai Taikai.

The creators are teasing that the final chapter is "the BIGGEST SEASON OF COBRA KAI YET." It should feature all the main players, as likely more cameos from the Karate Kid movies. Each successive season has brought in familiar faces, including Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills, Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver and Sean Kanan as Mike Barnes.

Many fans are hoping for a significant guest star: Hilary Swank, who headlined The Next Karate Kid. In an interview with Fandom, Hurwitz said, "All we can say about her is we love Hilary Swank. We think she's a phenomenal actress and we love her character in this franchise. She was taught by Mr. Miyagi and she's somebody who is important to the Karate Kid universe. We can't say if she'll return, we can't say how she'd return if she was going to return."

Once, the Cobra Kai season 5 release date hits, Netflix is kicking things into high gear. The hit Netflix series returns this week with more action, more conflicts and more high-stakes karate matches.

Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and their students are teaming up to take on Terry Silver and the growing Cobra Kai dojo franchise. They'll also face Karate Kid Part III's villain, karate bad boy Mike Barnes. 

Cobra Kai is one of the best Netflix shows and among the streamer's most popular series. A sequel to the Karate Kid movies, it follows former rivals Johnny and Daniel as adults some 30 years later. They came into conflict again when Johnny re-opened his old Cobra Kai dojo to teach a new generation of students. In season 4, Johnny and Daniel put aside their feud to join forces against John Kreese and Terry Silver, who had taken over Cobra Kai. They made a deal — if Johnny and Daniel's students win the tournament, Kreese and Silver will leave the Valley for good. But when Cobra Kai prevailed, and Kreese was sent to jail, Daniel made a surprising decision about the future of Miyagi-do. 

Season 5 sees Silver expanding Cobra Kai across the Valley, with Daniel and Johnny determined to stop him.

When does Cobra Kai season 5 come out on Netflix?

Cobra Kai season 5 premieres Friday, Sept. 9 at 3 a.m. ET on Netflix.

Season 5 consists of 10 episodes, all of which will drop at the same time.

The full-length Cobra Kai season 5 trailer dials up the drama and action to 11. As Daniel notes, Terry Silver is expanding his dojo franchise across the valley. Johnny has quit as a sensei, so it's up to Daniel and Chozen to stop the madness. Meanwhile, the conflicts among the younger generation are as heated as ever, including between Miguel and Robby. 

Cobra Kai season 5 cast

While the cast of Cobra Kai season 5 isn't totally confirmed yet, but it looks like all the major cast members are returning.

Naturally, that list is led by William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence and Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso.

They'll be joined by Thomas Ian Griffith as new Cobra Kai boss Terry Silver. Daniel will be teaming up with one-time enemy Chozen, once again played by Yuji Okumoto. Season 5 is also bringing back Sean Kanan as Mike Barnes, an antagonist in Karate Kid Part III. 

We'll almost certainly see Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso (Daniel's wife) and Vanessa Rubio's Carmen Diaz (Miguel's mother).

Cobra Kai also looks to be bringing back most of the students of the three dojos, with the trailer confirming the return of:

• Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz
• Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Daniel's daughter
• Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Johnny's son
• Peyton List as Tory Nichols

It's likely that the other major students will be returning as well, including:

• Jacob Bertrand as Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz
• Gianni Decenzo as Demetri Alexopoulos
• Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny Payne
• Oona O'Brien as Devon Lee
• Griffin Santopietro as Anthony LaRusso, Daniel's son

The late Pat Morita also appears in the trailer, in the form of a Karate Kid III flashback, which suggests more archive footage of Daniel's mentor.

Could we end up seeing anyone else? The series has now drawn past characters from three of the Karate Kid movies — which gives fans hope of seeing Hilary Swank reprise her role as Julie Pierce from The Next Karate Kid. 

Co-creator Jon Hurwitz was very cagey about the subject in an interview with Fandom. 

"All we can say about her is we love Hilary Swank. We think she's a phenomenal actress and we love her character in this franchise," he said. "She was taught by Mr. Miyagi and she's somebody who is important to the Karate Kid universe. We can't say if she'll return, we can't say how she'd return if she was going to return.

"We can say that we talk about her and maybe we've met her, maybe we've worked with her, maybe we haven't. We can't tell you anything! It's gonna continue to be a question until either she shows up or the series ends and we welcome the question every time!"

Is Cobra Kai season 5 the final season?

While Netflix hasn't officially ordered Cobra Kai season 6, we think it's a safe bet to assume it'll happen. 

And the show's creators already have plans for more installments. "We have more beyond Season 5. We are not writing to the end of the series in Season 5 right now," Josh Heald told Screenrant.

Not only do we have a Cobra Kai season 5 release date and trailer, but the series (one of of the best Netflix shows that hasn’t been cancelled yet) is coming back sooner than we expected. While the past two seasons of Cobra Kai hit Netflix at the end of the year (either on New Year's Day or Eve), the upcoming fifth season is mixing things up a bit by arriving on September 9th.

Netflix confirmed this news alongside the first Cobra Kai season 5 trailer. It’s not clear why the change has been made, but we’re not complaining. Time and again, Cobra Kai has proven it’s one of the best shows on Netflix. Better than I ever thought it would be, after it was first announced. 

Cobra Kai season 5 picks up where the season 4 finale left off. Miyagi Do and Eagle Fang have both been shut down, following Cobra Kai’s success at the All-Valley tournament, and Eric Silver is rapidly expanding his dojo into a bona-fide franchise.

Daniel isn’t giving up, and has enlisted the help of one-time enemy Chozen in a bid to take Cobra Kai and Silver down once and for all. Meanwhile Johnny is off to Mexico to find Miguel, who has gone off in search of his father — a bad man, according to Miguel’s mother, who doesn’t even know his son exists. 

Johnny’s son Robby appears to be joining him on the trip, though seems to have been initially  misled about its purpose. It seems the two might finally reconcile, of sorts, with plenty of fights in dodgy bars and fight clubs along the way. 

Finally we have Samantha and Tory, who both seem to be responding to the events of the All Valley Tournament in very different ways. Tory’s victory seems to be weighing on her, after discovering Silver bribed the referee to ensure her victory. Meanwhile Samantha seems to be going down a darker path, continuing to adopt an angrier and more offensive fighting strategy.

But we’ll have to wait until September to see how it all plays out and what it all means for Cobra Kai going forward.

The wait is almost up, and the Cobra Kai season 4 trailer is here to remind us of what we've been waiting for (and what Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence's pupils are training for). Yes, the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos may be uniting to end the Cobra Kai dojo once and for all, but Kreese has an ace up his sleeve: Terry Silver.

Silver's traded in his leather jacker and greasy pulled-back hair for a more refined look with a sports coat, aviators and dress shoes. But he's still fighting and ready to train the new generation. Yes, unsurprisingly, Silver is teaching Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) with little restraint. Might that have something to do with the fact that Robby is Johnny's estranged son, who Silver probably doesn't trust?

For those who don't remember, Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) came to the Karate Kid cinematic universe in Karate Kid Part III, who was funding the old Cobra Kai dojo for John Kreese (Martin Kove). The show has been building to his appearance all along, according to show creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg who were quoted by Deadline as saying "Since the beginning of the series, we’ve been carefully orchestrating the right moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back into the universe. That moment is now. We can’t wait for the whole world to experience Thomas Ian Griffith’s majestic return to the franchise."

Elsewhere in the trailer, we see that Johnny's rather unorthodox training methods raise a bit of concern from Daniel. Kreese challenges Johnny's decision to work with Daniel, and there's a little discomfort in the combined Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang camp about whose ideas are best for all.

The end of the trailer reminds us all that this year's All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament has higher stakes: loser raises their gi to the rafters in retirement.

Cobra Kai, one of the best Netflix shows, returns for season 4 on Dec. 31, 2021. As for shows that aren't living that long Netflix just canceled one of its biggest shows of 2021.

The All Valley Tournament is almost here and the Cobra Kai Dojo is so heinous that new alliances are forged. And, yes, Cobra Kai season 4 is coming on December 31.

New Stranger Things season 4 preview

To hype us up further for Stranger Things season 4, we went back in time and saw a seafoam green car drive up to an old house. We've learned this is the Creel House, and it may play a role in the lore of Stranger Things. It's got a very haunted-looking clock, and we're curious about why the kids are going there now.

The Sandman's first look at The Lord of Dreams

We finally got our first look at Tom Sturridge as Dream in Netflix's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman. It's not a look that will stir up any frustration, as it appears that Netflix is playing this plain and simple (and goth). Netflix is also dropping other character looks on its socials. Gaiman claimed there are "surprises in store, for even the most dedicated fans."

Ozark season 4 video clip revealed

Jason Bateman gave us our first peek at Ozark season 4, in a scene where he claimed that Marty and Wendy have opened up a new beauty shop and are experimenting with a new mousse. That said, the "mousse" just looked like blood and innards, at least to us.

The Witcher season 2 clips, season 3 confirmed and more

The big Witcher news flew fast today, as we learned The Witcher season 3 is happening (not a huge surprise, but still), then saw a clip from The Witcher season 2 with Geralt protecting Siri from a monster who's broken into the house. Another clip saw Nivellen give Geralt some words of warning.

Finally, Netflix said another Witcher anime movie is coming, as well as a Witcher project for kids and families.

This is when The Crown season 5 is coming

Imelda Staunton has delivered the goods on The Crown season 5. Or at least told us when we should expect it. The royal series will return to Netflix in November 2022. 

JEEN-YUHS: a Kanye West docu-series 

Miss the old Kanye? Netflix is delivering a 6-part docu-series called JEEN-YUHS, and this teaser clip is all behind the scenes from the old days, with Mr. West and Mos Def rapping for the camera.

Emily in Paris season 2 release date confirmed

This holiday season, Emily is back in Paris. Yes, Emily in Paris season 2 is confirmed for December 22.

Fasten your gi, because Cobra Kai season 4 is coming for you. And thanks to a new teaser trailer, we have a better idea of when we'll see Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence again in an epic " battle for the soul of the Valley." Mark your calendar for December!

The new Cobra Kai season 4 teaser features the cast members kicking, punching and looking fierce while doing it. It previews the big storyline of the new episodes, which unites former rivals Daniel and Johnny in a bid to take down John Kreese and Cobra Kai at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament. Whoever loses, hangs up their gi for good.

After the merger of their dojos, Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) and Daniel's daughter Sam (Mary Mouser) do everything they can to maintain the alliance among the students, while Johnny's son Robby (Tanner Buchanan) is all in at Cobra Kai.

Of course, Kreese isn't going down without a fight — and a dirty one at that. We already know from the first Cobra Kai season 4 teaser that he's bringing back his pal Terry Silver, the villain from Karate Kid Part III. The wealthy businessman funded the Cobra Kai dojo for his Vietnam War buddy.

The teaser also seems to show a teeny-tiny bit of new footage, including Johnny breaking concrete blocks, Miguel and Daniel practicing forms and a young woman — possibly Sam or her rival Tory (Peyton List) — leaping off a roof. Oh, and there's a glimpse of a ponytail, likely belonging to Silver.

Netflix previously revealed Cobra Kai season 4 was set for release in Q4 2021. Now, the date has been narrowed down to December. That makes it almost a year since season 3 dropped on January 1.

The show's creators have promised that season 4 will deliver "on goosebumps, on tears, on belly laughs and fist bumps." Meanwhile, on the MTV Movie and TV Awards, Macchio said, "The stories get deeper, the characters get more complex, [and] the fighting is more awesome. The left turns, when you think you might be going right, will dazzle."

Cobra Kai star Ralph Macchio just revealed how the show is taking a page from one of the most popular sitcoms of all times: Friends.

In Cobra Kai season 4, Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) are putting aside their decades-long rivalry to team up against John Kreese, Terry Silver and the Cobra Kai gang. This is taking place right as Daniel-San and Johnny's dynamic continues through a sort of "will they or won't they" trope when it comes to a possible friendship.

And Macchio is excited about the possibility that a true friendship will bloom.

Macchio broke down these details to Deadline, saying "What I’m most looking forward to in the Daniel/Johnny team up is the challenge." He continued, stating, "Navigating their varied personalities and stubborn mindsets as they work toward the same endgame. Their history is nuanced and multi-layered. They are wired so differently even though their intentions are aligned."

And, yes, the cast and crew are aware of the Friends-esque nature of this duo; they're even talking about it on set. Macchio added, "Billy and I love diving into the friendship as well as the rivalry. This is what [executive producer] Hayden Schlossberg has always called the Ross and Rachel element of our show. It makes for great comedy as well as heightened drama within Season 4." We're hoping that means more REO Speedwagon singing sessions in the car.

Despite what Macchio says, these two aren't so different; they've both been obsessed with karate since their teen years. Johnny and Daniel just have different approaches to the sport. But they are aligned on the need to get Kreese away from the Cobra Kai dojo. Plus, they don't know it yet, but they will also have to deal with the sadistic Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), the villain from Karate Kid Part III. His return was heralded in a recent Cobra Kai season 4 teaser trailer.

"Now the real pain begins." A new Cobra Kai season 4 teaser trailer confirms the return of possibly the biggest villain in the franchise: Terry Silver. And it doesn't sound like he's going to show any mercy to Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) or Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) when he comes back to town for the All Valley Karate Tournament.

Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) was introduced in the Karate Kid Part III movie as a wealthy businessman who funded Cobra Kai dojo for his old army buddy John Kreese (Martin Kove).

"Since the beginning of the series, we've been carefully orchestrating the right moment to unleash Cobra Kai dojo co-founder Terry Silver back into the universe," said show creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. 

"That moment is now."

If you thought Kreese was sadistic and abusive, Silver is even worse — which the teaser trailer ominously reveals. "If a man can't stand, he can't fight," Silver snarls in voice-over. This is a guy willing to go "extreme measures" to get what he wants. 

Silver's return to the Valley was hinted at in the Cobra Kai season 3 finale. After Daniel and Johnny merged their dojos to take on Kreese and Cobra Kai at the All Valley Tournament, he placed a phone call to someone. 

We figured it had to be Silver, who was featured in flashbacks to Kreese's time as a soldier in the Vietnam war. He credits Kreese with saving his life during a harrowing ordeal as POWs. In Karate Kid Part III, Silver helped his old friend get revenge on Daniel and Mr. Miyagi by bankrolling "karate bad boy" Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) at the tournament. 

In Cobra Kai season 4, the titular dojo is back under Kreese's control, but his students will have to win the tournament if he wants to keep it. Sounds like another opportunity for Silver to use his money and go to "extreme measures." Maybe fellow Karate Kid 3 villain Mike Barnes will return to join their evil team.

Cobra Kai season 4 is slated to premiere by the end of 2021 on Netflix.

Karate's bad boy may be kicking his way back into town on Cobra Kai season 4. Sean Kanan, who played Mike Barnes in The Karate Kid III, recently teased that he may be joining the Cobra Kai cast. 

Cobra Kai season 4 is currently filming in Atlanta for the next few months. Kanan could easily be the latest cast member from the original Karate Kid films to appear on the series, following Elizabeth Shue, Yuji Okumoto and Tamlyn Tomita. 

Kanan hinted at a possible cameo to FanRoom Live, saying, "I've spoken with the producers multiple times so, all I can say is we saw a little clip of Mike Barnes in Season 3, and if I had to say, I don't think that we've seen the last of him. We shall see."

If you need a refresher on Karate Kid Part III, Mike was a much-feared professional karate fighter who was hired by evil mogul Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), an old friend of John Kreese (Martin Kove). Terry was determined to get revenge on Daniel La Russo (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) on his buddy's behalf.

Mike was supposed to defeat Daniel at the All Valley Karate Tournament in exchange for part ownership of new Cobra Kai dojos. But Daniel prevailed and the good guys triumphed over the bad guys.

An appearance by Mike in Cobra Kai season 4 would make sense. At the end of season 3, Kreese made a phone call to an unknown person. Fans have speculated that the recipient is Terry Silver, since Kreese is looking at a photo from their Vietnam War days. The call also takes place right after Kreese has challenged Daniel and his former student, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), to a duel of dojos at the All Valley Tournament. 

It's no great leap to guess that Cobra Kai season 4 will bring back Terry Silver, which also opens the window for a Mike Barnes cameo. 

"I think (the creators) would like to work everybody in,” Kanan told the Desert Sun. “At least 50 people a day hit me up on Instagram asking me if I’m coming back for season four. I think there’s a definite possibility, but I can neither confirm nor deny.”
