TCL QM7K — Best Budget 65-inch Mini-LED TV

If money is tight, but you still want satisfactory picture quality for the price, the TCL QM7K Mini-LED TV is an excellent bargain. I went with the 65-inch model for my pick, but you really can't go wrong with any size, especially seeing how cheap it is right now.

The QM7K is a solid choice for sports fans because it's designed with motion processing in mind. It leverages a 144Hz refresh rate, but can also be boosted up to 288Hz for PC gaming. You can also expect great upscaling.

We also noted the QM7K has great color in both SDR and HDR, plus it has high brightness, so if you're watching in a sunnier room, you won't have to worry about reflections.

LG C5 OLED — Best Value OLED TV

You'll find very few OLED TVs these days under $1,000 that are worth the investment, but the LG C5 OLED TV bucks that trend. It's one of the only TVs we gave a perfect score this year, and that's largely because it's one of the best OLED TVs for the price.

I decided to go with the 48-inch for this piece, but you can't go wrong with any size variation for the LG C5. It's equipped with a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and has some of the best upscaling I've seen in a TV. It will easily make you feel like you're on the sidelines this NFL season.

TCL QM6K — Best Budget 85-inch TV

If you have the space for a massive TV, the QM6K is worth a tryout in your living room. You can get its 75-inch model right now for under $1,000, yet it still offers exceptional value where it counts. Although the TCL QM6K Mini-LED TV sits at the bottom of TCL's 2025 lineup, it's still loaded with features to make everything from the Stanley Cup to the World Series look impeccable.

You'll also have Google TV at your disposal, netting you access to tons of free channels and all the best streaming services. It's one of our favorite TV interfaces, as it's easy to navigate and has fewer ads than most competitors.

Hisense U8QG — Best Budget 65-inch Mini-LED TV

As one of the few budget TVs this year with a 165Hz refresh rate, the Hisense U8QG Mini-LED TV is a no-brainer for sports. I reviewed this Mini-LED TV earlier this year and was dazzled by its extreme brightness and slew of features.

The Hisense U8QG also has a serious sound system if you don't want to pay extra for one of the best soundbars. I was pleasantly surprised by its audio performance, making light work of action-heavy scenes in "The Batman" while still making dialogue easy to understand.

The best part about the U8QG is its price. It's one of the cheapest TVs you can buy right now, yet it still packs a wallop in performance.

Samsung S90F — Best Mid-range OLED TV

I've been recommending the Samsung S90F OLED TV to all my friends. It's a serious game winner if you're aiming for the best middle ground; not too high a premium, but just the right amount of performance.

One thing to keep in mind is that Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision, so you will miss out on the HDR format. Aside from that, it's largely built around being one of the best OLED TVs at a great price.

It has a 144Hz refresh rate, excellent HDR brightness for an OLED to handle glare, and incredible upscaling. Tizen OS leaves a little bit on the table, but it is also home to a slew of free channels like LG's webOS, if that's what you're looking for in a new TV.

You can also expect great off-axis viewing. That means if you have a larger group of people over, even the guests sitting off the side still get great picture quality, which is a common issue with Mini-LED TVs.

LG B5 — Best Budget 65-inch OLED TV

If you're aiming to get an OLED TV at a larger screen size, but don't want to spend over $1,500 for it, the LG B5 is good enough for sports. It doesn't offer the most robust set of features or even an exceptionally high input latency (just 120Hz), but it is marked down to a great price for an OLED right now.

Although the LG B5 OLED TV didn't fare too well in our review, it does have a few silver linings: It runs on webOS, which is home to a wide swath of free content, getting you in the door on a variety of sporting events without paying a thing.

LG Channels offers an exclusive NCAA Championships channel, plus has many other sports broadcasts that make webOS a prime candidate for fans looking to save on streaming bills.

Panasonic Z95B — Best Premium OLED TV

If you're looking to upgrade your entertainment setup with the most powerful, most feature-rich display, the Panasonic Z95B OLED TV should be your go-to. It's built to offer exceptional picture performance and incredible audio, but they come at a hefty premium.

I loved last year's Panasonic Z95A, and all the same amazing values that make it awesome make their way onto the newest model. It's kitted with both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, so you don't have to worry if you're getting full HDR coverage.

Back in January, the internet went wild when the Ninja Swirl launched, as eagle-eyed fans waited with bated breath for Ninja’s follow-up to the Creami.

When the soft-serve ice cream maker launched in Australia in August, it sold out in seconds, with thousands of customers waiting for restocks. You'll need to act fast to nab one, though, as I expect these fun dessert makers to fly off shelves and will only be discounted until the end of Prime Day Week on Monday, 13 October, 2025, or until stocks allow (whichever comes first).

The Swirl inherits all the features we love in the Creami but unlocks a new spin by adding a soft-serve feature into the mix. Once your ice cream has been processed just like it does on the Creami, you can attach the tub to the front of the machine and lower the side lever to dispense the same ice cream as a soft serve. The Swirl has six soft-serve settings, so you pour your summer treats in different consistencies.

I recently upgraded my old Ninja Creami in favour of the Swirl and, boy, was it a game changer. As a fan of soft serve, this new machine helped me maintain my protein and low-carb, low-sugar goals, especially as I'm always in the mood for a little sweet treat at the end of the day.

Thanks to enhanced Creamify and Creamifit technology, the Ninja Swirl has been dubbed a "one-spin solution", whipping mixes faster than the Creami and Creami Deluxe. And I can personally attest to this, as it mixes both sugary and sugar-free pints with ease, blending to the perfect consistency every time, no matter what ingredients I put into the machine.

One thing to keep in mind, though: if you're keen to try some mix-ins in your soft serve, you may run the risk of clogging up the machine, so it's best to be a little careful.

Aside from the new and improved features, the Swirl takes up slightly more countertop space to allow the soft-serve side to shine, but if that isn't going to be an issue for you, I highly recommend it.

If you've ever felt the urge to add Alexa to your car but have always been put off by the cost of actually buying an Echo Auto, you're in luck. Amazon's Early Prime Day deals have knocked down the price of the in-car gadget by an absurd amount.

Right now you can pick up the Amazon Echo Auto for just $14 at Amazon. Not only is that 73% off the original $55 price tag, it's also the lowest price the Echo Auto has dropped to since its release. Which means there's no better time to bring Alexa to the wide open road.

It's also a Bluetooth adapter for your phone, for those of you who don't have wireless connectivity in your car. It essentially unlocks all the music, podcasts and audiobooks on your device — even if they're not coming from an Amazon streaming service.

Get your credit cards ready! Everyone's favourite online retailer, Amazon, has officially announced its second Prime-exclusive sale of the year, starting Tuesday, October 7.

No, it's not a double-take — for the second time in 2025, Prime Day (or in this instance, Prime Big Deal Days), will be a seven-day-long sale! This is the second massive weeklong Prime Day sale after the event in July, which had us dealers in a daze. The sale will come to a close in the final hours of Monday, October 13, with hundreds of thousands of products set to be discounted across the entire period.

With less than 100 days until Christmas, the retailer has announced significant deals on tech, homewares, and appliances, making it a perfect opportunity to shop for the festive season.

Not much else has been revealed about the event at this point; however, we can reasonably expect some of the best Amazon deals of the year, so if you're not a Prime member already, it's time to sign up!

Prime Big Deal Days 2025: what to expect

If Prime Day Week's sale in July was anything to go by, we can anticipate some stellar deals on a range of products, such as Amazon devices like Kindles, Echo smart speakers and Fire TV sticks. And we can reasonably expect some great discounts on tech items, like headphones, smartwatches, laptops, gaming consoles and PC peripherals.

If you're completely new to Prime or you missed out on the July sale, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial so you can experience the best of the Prime Big Deal Days bargains. Some membership perks include free and same-day delivery to eligible suburbs, a Prime Video subscription and access to member-exclusive sales like Prime Day.

But a word from a seasoned deal hunter to you, my dear reader — if you want to take full advantage of Prime Big Deal Days, you may want to hold off and sign up during the first week of October. But if you decide to sign up early, your free trial window should see you through to the end of the sale.

So if you've been eyeing your next Amazon purchase, or want to shop and save big before Black Friday rolls around in November, Prime Day's seven-day deals fest could be an ideal time to nab a nice bargain.

Sony's flagship WH-1000XM5 over-ear headphones dropped to an astonishingly low price during Prime Day, and even though the event is over, you can still score a massive saving of 31% on the RRP. That brings their cost down to just AU$549 AU$379 — that's a saving of AU$170!

Even outside of Amazon, this is close to the best price we've seen on local stock of the WH-1000XM5, though they were AU$10 cheaper just yesterday.

In our WH-1000XM5 review, we praised their "spectacular sound quality, noise-cancellation and integration with one of the best headphone apps we've encountered", scoring them 4.5 stars in the process.

Sounds great, right? You'll have to hurry though — we don't expect this deal to stick around for long now that Prime Day is over, meaning this is likely your last chance to score them at this incredible price.

Also worth mentioning, this is a Prime-exclusive deal, which means you'll need an Amazon Prime membership in order to nab the WH-1000XM5 at this price. Thankfully, Amazon offers a 30-day free trial for new members, which means you can nab this deal with plenty of time to decide whether you want to keep the subscription going.

You should also know that this particular version of the WH-1000XM5 owes its affordability to the inclusion of a soft case. However, Amazon also offers the hard-case version at a smaller 10% discount, bringing it down to AU$495. Needless to say, you'd have to really want this hard case to pay an additional AU$116 for it.

The up front cost of this plan is $24 more than NordVPN Plus. 1TB of encrypted cloud storage is the only extra NordVPN feature you'll benefit from but you're also doubling your Amazon gift card value from $20 to $40.

Working out at $6.33 per month ($177.36 up front pre-tax), NordVPN Prime is the most expensive plan NordVPN has. This will cover you for 28 months and grant you a $50 Amazon gift card.

NordVPN Prime is a total cybersecurity package. Everything in previous plans is included here plus NordProtect.

What's on offer in the UK, Australia, and Canada?

UK

NordVPN Plus is £2.99 per month (£83.76 up front pre-tax) and comes with a £20 Amazon gift card.

There's no middle tier, with UK plans jumping straight to NordVPN Ultimate. This plan is currently £4.62 per month (£129.36 up front pre-tax) and gets you a £50 Amazon gift card.

Some of the Amazon Prime Day deals have been crazy this year with a ton of products having their prices slashed by over 50%. The same is true for this already budget webcam by Logitech.

The Logitech C270 HD Webcam is currently available for $19 at Amazon. This is a massive 52% off it's usual $39 price tag. So, while this is a budget number anyway, at this price Amazon are basically handing it to you.

Picture this: you're about to join a team call but your screen is black and you camera has, for lack of a better phrase, gone kaput. Total nightmare and the exact situation that I found myself in.

Luckily for me though, I had picked up the Logitech C270 camera when I noticed the hinge area of my MacBook Pro getting stiff. I simply foresaw the issues between the screen and logic board.

I have to say, it has to be one of my best purchases as it totally saved me when I needed to get an important call with my camera on. With an incredibly easy set up, all I had to to was plug it in via USB and I was ready to go.

There is an adjustable clip on the back of the camera that fits most screens, and I was able to attach it to the thin screen of my MacBook as well as the thick screen of my PC monitor. This clip also folds away so you can simply stand the camera on a shelf.

Not only does it look cute, the webcam has a built-in noise reducing microphone that actually sounds better in recordings than the one built-in to my Mac. The auto light correction also works extremely well to deliver a balanced image, even when I have sat with a window directly behind me.

You'll also be glad to find out (as I was) that this webcam is compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. This means you can use GameChat to let other gamers see your face while playing multiplayer online.

Obviously the 720p image isn't as good as more expensive cameras that use 1080p, but as a back-up camera in a pinch, I seriously can't recommend this camera enough. $19 isn't going to break the bank, and for the sake of knowing you can definitely make that online call, it's well worth it.

The beauty of buying a phone from Amazon is that the discounts are instant and you don’t have to subscribe to a cell phone plan. For Prime Day 2025, there’s a lot I like about the Pixel 9 Pro XL deal which Amazon’s offering right now that drops its price from $1,099 to a much more likeable $749 — but that’s not the best deal I’m seeing for it.

Even though the 32% off discount that Amazon’s offering looks good on paper, Mint Mobile actually has a better offer in my opinion. That’s because the low-cost wireless carrier has it at an even better price of $699. That’s an additional $50 savings over Amazon, but there are still many more reasons why it’s one of the best Prime Day phone deals around.

In order to get this deal, you need to port in a number and it needs to be activated on any one of Mint Mobile’s unlimited plans. This is an extra step over buying it from Amazon, but you’re still getting one of the best deals around because the unlimited plan costs $15/month for 12 months — which comes out to $180 for the entire year.

I’ve used Mint Mobile’s service in the past and it’s just as reliable as any of the big three wireless providers out there. It’s really hard for Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T to compete against what Mint’s offering because their comparable unlimited cell phone plans are priced around $60/month. That’s a big jump from the $15/month that Mint Mobile is asking for.

Out the door, you’re looking at a total of $879 plus tax to get the 128GB version of the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is still less than the cost of buying it outright. Plus, you only need to wait 60 days from activation to get it unlocked. Once unlocked, you’ll be able to use it with just about any other service.

What I really love about the Pixel 9 Pro XL is all the new Google AI features it comes with. In my Pixel 9 Pro XL review, I really detail how many of its new generative AI features work well — like Reimagine and Pixel Studio. It also has a competent triple camera system that works incredibly well across different lighting situations. And finally, it’s assuring when you know it’ll continue to get the latest version of Android thanks to Google’s generous 7 years of software support.

Just announced yesterday at its Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung’s getting a lot of attention for its new foldable phones. While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 gets a makeover that makes it obnoxiously skinnier and lighter than before, I’m still in love with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 more — now especially when a Prime Day deal cuts its price in half.

Even though it’s not yet out, Google Fi Wireless is offering the best Galaxy Z Flip 7 preorder around that discounts the phone down to $499. That’s a significant amount of savings when you consider that the phone costs $1,099 normally.

Unlike some other pre-order deals, you don’t need to trade in an old phone to get a discount, nor do you have to the 2-year service agreements carriers typically enforce. All of this makes it the best Prime Day phone deal.

Technically speaking, there are Galaxy Z Flip 7 preorder deals that make it free, but they come with certain requirements. Take Verizon’s free offer, which applies an $1,100 promo credit over 36 months when it’s activated on an Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plan — which costs $80 and $90/month respectively.

With Google Fi Wireless, you need to activate the Z Flip 7 on its Unlimited Premium plan that costs $65/month — and only need to keep it active on the line for 120 days, not like the 36 months that Verizon is asking for. Best of all, this Google Fi Wireless deal is for the 512GB version of the Z Flip 7 and not the 256GB one.

I rarely ever give the advice to upgrade yearly, but the Z Flip 7 is an exception because I feel it has bigger upgrades than years past. Take for instance its Flex Window display, which goes for 3.4-inch from the Z Flip 6 to a much larger 4.1-inch one. On top of that, it finally supports Samsung DeX — which is a first for the Flip series. I’ve been requesting this feature for years now and I love the idea of having the power of a computer in my pocket.

Furthermore, it’s the phone made for content creators thanks in part to its flex modes. I’m particularly excited about pairing its rear cameras with its Flex Window to shoot vlogs and selfies. On top of that, it’s one of the few camera phones around that offers a true manual video mode that lets me dial in the shutter speed and ISO settings, along with a portrait video mode for that cinematic look.

Google Fi Wireless also has the not-yet-released Galaxy Z Fold 7 on sale, with a $700 off instant discount. This makes the phone $1,299 instead of $1,999, plus you get the free storage upgrade from 256GB to 512GB. At this price, it’s much more reasonable.

While everyone online is looking for the best deals during Prime Day, threat actors, hackers and thieves are looking too – for the best way to scam, steal and swipe your information and data.

Scams are getting harder and harder to spot, especially now that many cybercriminals have started using AI to make their texts and emails nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

According to McAfee, 15% of people have already fallen victim to online scams during Prime Day and while 89% of people have taken steps to stay safe, 65% also admit they’re not fully confident in their ability to spot a scam.

Though older adults are more at risk of scams that promise deals, younger shoppers are more at risk for shopping on social media and shopping from unfamiliar brands. Here are a few tried and true rules and tips about the best ways to stay safe both during, and after, high-profile shopping seasons.

How to stay safe while shopping on Prime Day

Remember that Amazon will not call you about account activity or purchases so do not trust any phone calls that come through “from Amazon.” If you receive a phone call that claims to be from Amazon or Amazon customer service, never give out any personal information or details like passwords or payment information.

If you need to contact Amazon, use the Amazon Message Center, and always log into your Amazon account directly through Amazon.com to check for any legitimate issues with your account or orders.

As with any phishing scam, be extremely wary of any email or text that includes urgent language or any wording that asks for your immediate action – anything that claims you need to make a payment, act now, or claims that your account will be closed. These types of scams will always use a sense of urgency to make their victims feel like they need to act quickly, so pause before you act.

Never trust any message that ask for payment in gift cards, cash or wire transfers or claims that you need to ‘verify’ your money. That’s not a thing. Likewise, no one should ever need to transfer you to a government agency during your call.

You can also keep yourself and your shopping experience safe by enabling two factor or multi-factor authentication; use a password manager so you can make sure you’re using strong, unique passwords for all your accounts. Make sure you’re only shopping on secure websites – look for https and the padlock icon, and always, always (always) check the URL of the site you’re on to make sure it’s the correct one and not a spoof.

Never click on links in emails or texts, always go directly to the site yourself or type the URL into the browser. Make sure you monitor bank and credit card statements regularly for any suspicious or unusual activity.

Some of the best antivirus programs will also watch your back – and have features that can help like browsers that will alert you if you visit a shady website, dark web monitoring or identity monitoring that can tell you if your accounts have been compromised and phishing protection that will watch out for common scams in emails or even texts.

However, I don't know about you, but my purse strings are extra tight this year. I want to save as much money as I possibly can. I have only one recommendation, and it's not snagging the Bose QuietComfort while they're at their lowest ever price.

It's going back to basics and getting the JLab JBuds Lux ANC, $47 on Amazon... the only pair of budget headphones I've ever recommended.

The JLab JBuds Lux ANC headphones seem too good to be true. Great sound quality, really comfortable cups, 70 hours battery, app control, and amazing ANC, for just $47? You'd best believe it.

In my review of the JLab JBuds Lux ANC headphones, I wrote, "The new techno house offering from my current obsession band Confidence Man, ‘Let Them Bells Ring’, pounded through the drivers with such groove that I wanted to stop mid-walk and start boogie-ing". Usually budget headphones sound... well, to put it nicely, usually budget headphones sound less than ideal.

True, the JBuds struggle with a touch of muffled bass, but this isn't an individual issue. When I tested out the QuietComfort headphones, I wrote in my phone's notes: "bass sounds muffled?". It's true! Although the ANC is second-to-none, the Bose QuietComfort sound isn't $349 worth of quality. It's merely good.

For $349, I expect more than good. I expect phenomenal. I want to feel immersed and overtaken by the sensational magic of my music. I don't want to be merely pleased. I want to be blown away.

Which is why I can't recommend them over the JLab JBuds Lux ANC. This Prime Day, I think you should save your money and get the JLab headphones. You'd keep $152 — imagine what you could do with that extra cash.

PrivadoVPN can't quite match the VPN big hitters, but it's a secure, private, and reliable VPN with some nice features. The biggest pull is its price, you won't get another reputable VPN for this cheap.

Its server count isn't huge, with 300+ servers in 48 countries. But you can connect up to 10 devices simultaneously, make use of split tunneling, and benefit from speeds of 950+ Mbps.

ExpressVPN Aircove

VPNs are compatible with a large number of smart devices. There's apps for phones, laptops, tablets, and even Fire Sticks and Apple TVs.

But what if you want to protect all your other smart devices? The more smart devices you have in your home, the more vulnerable you are to cyberattacks. As well as this, smart devices collect a huge amount of personal data.

However, if you need even more power, the Mac mini M4 Pro is $140 off and comes with 24GB of memory (instead of 16GB) and even more storage.

The Mac mini M4 is without a doubt one of the best mini PCs you can buy today, especially if you prefer macOS to Windows. Likewise, it’s a great starter Mac desktop for those looking to make the switch to macOS as well as for people that are just tired of having to charge one of the best MacBooks each night.

Compared to its predecessor, the Mac mini M4 is a big step up. Not only does it feature Apple’s M4 chips but the case has been redesigned from the ground up to be smaller and more compact at just 5 x 5 x 2 inches.

Made for Mac but mechanical

Apple’s Magic Keyboards are certainly popular but they pale in comparison to the experience you get when typing on one of the best mechanical keyboards. Instead of feeling a rubber membrane beneath your keyboard’s keys, each key features its only mechanical switch for a more accurate and comfortable typing experience.

Once again, thanks to Prime Day, you can get the Satechi SM3 Slim Mechanical Keyboard for just $83 at Amazon right now. This full-sized keyboard features low-profile switches and comes in either a light gray/white or dark gray/gray color scheme to match the rest of your desk setup. It also has a sturdy aluminum case, so you don’t feel any flexing or bending while typing.

As for connectivity, Satechi’s SM3 mechanical keyboard can connect to your Mac mini M4 over Bluetooth, with the included 2.4 GHz USB dongle or with a USB cable plugged into the USB-C port around back. There you’ll also find a handy on/off switch which is great if you want to save battery life. However, with its built-in 2,500 mAh battery, you can get about 20 days worth of usage or 15 days with its backlight on. Oh yeah, did I mention it has white LED backlighting and shine-through keycaps?

There are 14 LED backlit patterns to choose from and you can turn down the SM3’s backlighting using the F5 and F6 keys right from the keyboard itself. This is also a very comfortable keyboard to use due to its flat keycaps and low-profile design which helps reduce fatigue while typing.

It’s worth noting that unlike with other mechanical keyboards, you don’t have a lot of options when it comes to which mechanical switches you want to use with the SM3.

The keyboard only comes with low-profile brown switches which I personally love. They aren’t clicky like blue switches and they don’t go straight down like red ones. Instead, brown switches have a nice tactile bump to let you know when a key is actuated. They’re great for both a home or office environment too as they aren’t loud unless you have a tendency to bottom out while typing.

If brown switches aren’t for you though, you’re going to want to look elsewhere as the SM3 isn’t a hot-swappable keyboard where you can change out its switches whenever you want. This is because its mechanical switches are soldered to the keyboard’s motherboard. You could still technically swap them out but that would require desoldering the brown ones, adding new switches and then soldering them.

I’ve been using Satechi’s SM3 mechanical keyboard with my Mac mini M4 since it was released and I haven’t had any issues yet. It’s a very comfortable keyboard and I like how I have all of the macOS-specific keys right at my fingertips. However, it does work on Windows and even on Chromebooks too.

A tiny powerhouse

With the extra ports and storage from Satechi’s hub and its SM3 keyboard connected, the Mac mini M4 instantly transforms from a great mini PC to a near perfect one. Even with the base model, I found it could handle my workload which involves having dozens of Chrome tabs open simultaneously while writing and editing.

If you’re thinking about picking up a Mac mini M4, I highly recommend getting these accessories with it. You’ll also need a mouse or, if you’re like me, a trackball mouse and one of the best monitors to complete your desk setup.

While it makes sense to choose a monitor with built-in speakers so you don’t have to buy a pair of the best computer speakers too, it’s worth noting that the Mac mini M4 does have a single speaker inside which should work in a pinch for listening to music, watching content online or even taking video calls.

I’ve wanted to switch back to using a Mac for years now but it wasn’t until the release of the Mac mini m4 that I finally did. The experience was almost perfect and I’m very impressed with Apple’s smallest Mac yet. However, once I added Satechi’s hub and keyboard to the mix, I was finally able to ditch my Windows PC for good.

When it comes to audio, Amazon Prime Day is bringing the deals. Prices are being slashed left, right and center, but the discount on these Soundcore AeroClip open-ear earbuds has to be one of my favorites.

The Soundcore AeroClips are available at Amazon U.S. for 34% off at just $112. They are also available at Amazon U.K. for £109, down from £129.

Ideal for any fitness fanatics, this is an awesome deal that ensures you get the most out of your music while working out.

When I go out for a run, there is nothing more annoying to me than having to take one of my earbuds out to check what's going on around me. Sure it's essential for staying safe when crossing roads, but it's so inconvenient as it pauses my music, and not to mention, fiddly.

The buds have a waterproof rating of IPX4 so are perfect for working out and even running in some light rain. That being said, any heavy downpours and you may want to go music-less.

Those issues are resolved by the Soundcore AeroClips. They are also extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and I actually wear them in the office a lot of the time. The microphones on the earbuds are also great for taking phone calls and joining online meetings.

Even for a seasoned sales event reporter like myself, the speed at which the sleek Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge's price has dropped is astounding.

Less than two months after its release, Amazon's Prime Day 2025 sale has seen it plummet by an incredible AU$870, bringing its price down to just AU$2,049 AU$1,179. Needless to say, this price is an all-time low for the still-new device.

If I didn't already own the Galaxy S25 Ultra, I would instantly jump on this deal. If you've been holding out for an unbeatable deal on the S25 Edge, this might just be your best shot for a while.

Prime Day 2025 is in full swing, with the major sales event kicking off in the wee hours of this morning (Tuesday, 8 July). And, while we anticipate more stellar deals to make their appearances throughout the week, these hot Apple deals are something worth showcasing from the get-go.

With up to 30% off select products across the entire lineup — like iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Watches and AirPods — there's no better time to nab the coveted Apple item you've had your eye on. What makes these deals even more enticing is that some items come with extra perks, like cashback if you trade in an older device or AU$100 promo credit for Adobe.

The full list of discounted items can be found on Apple's Amazon storefront, but you'll need to act fast. These deals are set to expire on Monday, July 14, 2025 or when stock runs out (whichever comes first).

I'll confess: One of my favorite shows is "The New Yankee Workshop," which I watched when it aired right after "This Old House." Even though it's been off the air for a few years, I still occasionally will watch an episode on YouTube, comforted by Norm Abram's New England accent and flannel shirts.

I haven't dabbled in woodworking all that much — but that's about to change, because I just picked up the DeWalt 12-in 15-Amp Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Corded Miter Saw for $399 at Lowe's, where it's currently $230 off its regular price.

This isn't a Prime Day deal — this saw will be on sale through August 6 — but it seemed too good a deal for me to pass up.

I've long had my eye on a miter saw — I don't have a ton of room in my house, and I'm tired of having to use a handsaw and miter box to cut trim pieces.

However, I could never really justify the price of the miter saw I truly wanted. I wanted one with a dual bevel. That means you can angle the blade on both the vertical and horizontal planes. I also wanted a sliding model, so I could cut larger pieces of wood.

Now, I'm not going to set up a furniture shop in my garage, but I do want to be able to do things like build some shelving, an outdoor stand and storage for my pizza oven, and maybe even a new fireplace mantle.

I couldn't justify the expense of the DeWalt at its regular price of $629, but at its sale price of $399, it seemed too good to pass up. Plus, I'll learn a few new skills along the way, and save me from buying things that are already built.

Just remember: Measure twice, cut once.

In the first few weeks of June, security researchers at Check Point managed to find more than 1,230 new domains attempting to impersonate Amazon ahead of the company’s Prime Day event this week.

This increase is common before major events or holidays; according to reporting from Cybernews, the sites found by the researchers were “sketchy at best and outright malicious at worst.”

Many used the term “Amazon Prime” specifically in an obvious attempt to trick victims into clicking through and logging in by mistake. The Check Point researchers also warned that the threat actors behind this campaign are sending out very convincing phishing emails in an attempt to dupe users. These emails claim to be from Amazon's customer service team with subject lines like “Refund error” or “Account issue” but are designed to steal your login credentials.

Given the email and login page both look quite legitimate and contain a message designed to instill a sense of urgency, unsuspecting users will often click through the embedded link that says “Update your address” or sign in to fix the account issue. However, instead of updating their information what they’ve done is hand over their personal details to online threat actors. They will then try to use this stolen user data for unauthorized purchases, to commit identity theft or for other malicious activities.

How to stay safe

As with any phishing campaign, you should be vigilant about anything that arrives unexpected in your inbox and wants you to click on it. Especially if there’s a sense of urgency implied, even if that urgency looks and seems legitimate.

However, you should also hover over URLs to see where they’re redirecting to, and if it ends in .top or .online or somewhere else with hyphens or extra numbers or anything else iffy or weird, don’t go there. Just enter in the URL to the browser manually. Obviously if it doesn’t have an https and the padlock icon don’t enter in your personal information but those can be faked too.

Two other security measures that can help are two factor or multi factor authentication, and a password manager. The multi-factor authentication will create another step for hackers and threat actors to have to conquer to take over your accounts, and the password manager helps you create strong, unique passwords and keeps track of them in a way that's harder to crack.

Remember: Anything that seems to good to be true online, probably is. And anything that seems super urgent or immediate, probably isn't. Also, paying with a credit card is safer than a debit card since you can file a claim, and paying with virtual cards, payment apps, or anything that an has an extra layer of protection is also a good idea. Never wire cash or use a direct bank transfer when paying for things online.

Lastly, some of the best antivirus programs will also have additional features that can help protect you while you shop online like a VPN and browser warnings when you visit a shady website.

Luckily, we've tried-and-tested some of the top fans — in a bid to survive the heatwave.

So if you want to keep cool all summer, here are the top cooling fans I’d recommend ahead of Prime Day.

As far as design and innovation goes, the Shark Turbo Blade is definitely not your average looking fan. In fact, you probably wouldn’t even know what it is at first glance.

This is mainly down to its unique design of having two arms that can be adjusted independently to blow air in different directions. It can pivot to cool every corner vertically and horizontally, and offers 180-degree rotation (rather than fully rotating).

At just under 45cm in height and 31.5cm width, don’t be fooled by its sleek and stylish appearance. When our Homes editor, Millie, tested the Shark TurboBlade Cooling Fan, she was impressed by its sheer cooling power. Particularly its Breeze mode that is essentially designed to replicate a more natural-feeling breeze.

In fact, Millie loved how it was perfect for hot sleepers, and its two jets of cool air blowing simultaneously, managed to keep her and her partner cool all night.

Another feature we appreciated was the fan’s low-noise operation, which is always convenient when you’re trying to relax in peace or have a conversation (just probably don’t use 10 often).

All of this fancy design innovation and power does come at a price though. And at $299, you could probably find a cheaper model on the market.

However, if you simply want to keep cool and comfortable, especially on those sweltering nights, the Shark TurboBlade is highly recommended.

2. Dreo TurboPoly Fan 508S

If you’re after a smart fan that is powerful, super quiet and affordable, this Dreo TurboPoly Fan is one to consider.

Admittedly, when I first used this fan for my sweltering living room, I wasn’t so sure how effective this cheaper option would be to really cool it down. However, I was pleasantly surprised overall.

While it doesn’t have the trendy, bladeless design that its competitors are going for, it does come with its very own unique USP. It oscillates horizontally and vertically up to 120-degrees so that cool air is circulated around the room evenly.

In fact, it was fascinating to watch the fan rotate fully towards the ceiling and down again, and you can select whether you want it in a vertical or horizontal mode. It goes up to 9 powerful settings, but I found that 4 or 5 was adequate enough to cool my medium-sized, hot room.

What’s more, it comes with a handy remote control, timer, ambient LED lighting (which gives a soft glow at the back of the fan), and has smart connectivity via the Dreo app.

Easy to install, the app unlocks extra settings that you don’t have on your remote control. For instance, you can quickly select your speed, flow, and change the color and brightness of your lighting.

More importantly, I was impressed at how super quiet the Dreo TurboPoly Fan was. I could still have a conversation or watch my favorite Netflix show, even at higher speeds.

Considering this cool fan is just a fraction of the price of some of the well-known brands on the market, this makes the Dreo TurboPoly Fan a great choice for every home.

3. Dyson Purifying Fan

When it comes to air care, Dyson are known for its innovation, bladeless designs, premium power and price.

And if, like me, you suffer from seasonal allergies, the Dyson Purifier Cool TP4B offers the best of both worlds. I love the fact that it can clean up your air whilst cool you down at the same time.

The Dyson fan can go up to 10 cooling settings on a hot day, while purifying your air. And if you don’t want the fan blowing directly towards you, it has a backward airflow mode that purifies the air without blowing cool air.

Plus, if you want to sleep soundly, Night Mode will set it to the quietest levels, without disturbing you from your slumber.

Perhaps, the only thing that's missing is app control, however, it does come with a handy remote control, and its real-time reports allow you to monitor the air quality.

What's more, its slimline, attractive design means that it can blend into your home decor without being an eyesore.

It is on the more expensive side however, but you are essentially getting 2-in-1. So if you fancy splashing out, this is a great investment.

There’s a very real chance that PC gaming handhelds could cost a thousand dollars as standard, and the pre-order pricing for the MSI Claw A8 with AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme proves it.

As confirmed by MSI, the new handheld is launching this month, and preorders have started in Asia on MSI’s store, and the price given is 6,999 RMB. There is a lower price, that's offered via the Chinese government’s 15% subsidy on consumer tech, which means you could get it for 5,949 RMB.

But when flipped to USD, that subsidized cost is just under $740, and without, that skyrockets to $860. Pop sales tax on top and we’re talking a thousand bucks.

Now I know gaming handhelds can be expensive, but if we’re at a point where they could be vastly more expensive than vastly more powerful gaming laptops, something’s gone wrong here.

A surprising spec reveal doesn’t save it

Everything seems largely the same as what I tested at Computex — giant 80Wh battery, all the same ports, a 1200p display (which we now know has a 500-nit peak brightness). But seeing WiFi 7 is a surprise.

Previously, MSI confirmed to me that this was rocking WiFi 6E, so for online gaming, this has now become an altogether stronger machine. I’m a big fan of that.

That doesn’t take away from the inflationary pressure being felt by this potential price. Of course, there will be a variation . We’re talking about the price in China here, with one version coming with the government’s 15% subsidy, and the higher price including sales tax.

But with the current global climate, I dare say that we could see that price go up. For example, the Intel-based MSI Claw 8 AI+ is priced the same as this AMD counterpart in China.

The MSRP over here is $999, and when you take into account just what kind of gaming hardware you could get for a thousand bucks, that’s where I start to fear that PC gaming handhelds are going off the rails. And it makes me especially nervous about the ROG Xbox Ally X.

What should you buy instead?

The simple answer is get a gaming laptop. But allow me to go into both scenarios here:

• If I could tempt you towards a gaming laptop: If ultra portability is something I can sway you on, a gaming laptop like the MSI Thin A15 with RTX 4060 is a great shout at $40 less. Or if you want to save even more money, you could get the HP Victus with RTX 4050 for $699 (and based on my testing, you can still get games looking pretty on here).
• If you are settled on a handheld and nothing else: You’ve got two options in my mind (neither of them are the Steam Deck, as that’s getting a little too old now). First, you can find some decent prices on the Asus ROG Ally with Ryzen Z1 Extreme. And second, the Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS is a great shout! Both are over $300 less.

Outlook

In my hands-on time with the MSI Claw A8, I talked about how pricing being unknown makes me a bit nervous. Looking at the decent performance gains with AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme in a bubble of not thinking about cost was impressive, but the price tag has to be fair.

And put simply, if this pricing translates the way I’m thinking over to the U.S. and U.K., this ain’t it. Handheld gaming does come with a premium, I get that. But not this kind of premium.

If the Steam Deck proved anything, it’s that you can get surprisingly impressive gaming performance from lower power (and lower cost) internals. And I can only cross my fingers and hope that $1,000 doesn’t become the new defacto standard for handhelds.

Finally, the announcement we've been eagerly awaiting has arrived. Amazon has unveiled the dates for its Prime Day sale in Australia, and thankfully for you, deal hunters, you won't have to wait long.

The online retail giant has confirmed that Prime Day 2025 will take place from 12:01am AEST on Tuesday, 8 July to 11:59pm AEST on Monday, 14 July. Yes, you read that right — it's a massive week-long sale! It's officially the longest ever Prime Day we've seen, beating its impressive six-day Big Smile Sale in March and Prime Big Deal Days last October.

From the latest tech and kitchen appliances to everyday essentials, the e-retailer has confirmed top deals during that time frame for 19 countries, including the US, UK, Canada and Singapore. However, Australia and Singapore seem to be the lucky ones, with an extra 72 hours to shop the sale.

Not much else has been disclosed about the event at this point; however, we can expect some of the best Amazon AU deals of the year. If you're not a Prime member already, it's about time to sign up!

Prime Day 2025: what to expect

If Prime Day 2024 sales were anything to go by, we can speculate that there will be great deals on a range of products, including Amazon's own devices. We anticipate that there will be discounts aplenty on Echo smart speakers, Ring and Blink cameras, Fire TV sticks and more. We're even hoping to snag a good bargain on Kindle ereaders, but we're keeping our expectations in check since we haven't seen them discounted since Black Friday 2024.

Amazon Prime Day in Australia has just finished up, with the massive seven-day sale ending at 11:59pm last night, on Monday, July 13, 2026.
